2501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 3 days of unconfirmed transactions - any help is much appreciated! on: March 03, 2016, 12:24:15 PM
Thanks very much guys!! Responses have been quick and clear it really is appreciated.

The plan is to shut down QT and return to it in 4/5 days. Thankfully not in a hurry to transact.

If you update to a version that is no longer called "QT" (e.g. to 0.12.0, 0.11.x or 0.10.x) you can pass -zapwallettxes on start to remove the unconfirmed transactions form the wallet.

2506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why transactions are taking too long ? on: March 02, 2016, 02:15:40 PM
[ size=11pt]Something has gone wrong in our community. Bitcoin is sick.
There's an unusually high number of unconfirmed transaction.
I never had experience with less than "high priority".
But I have three days in a row can not send money from BlockChain.[/size]

Show us your transaction and we can tell you the fee you paid was too low.
2507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please help - 2 unconfirmed transactions even though fees paid on: March 02, 2016, 02:03:57 PM
I think the 2 BTC is too high for a 0.0001 btc transaction fee. If you wanted to receive it earlier you could've sent it with a higher fee.
Neh, it isn't 'coz fee & confirmation isn't related with transaction amount. AFAIK, they(confirmation) depend on transaction size & IMO, 0.0001BTC fee for a 374B transaction is more than enough.
P.S. Anyway, I've rebroadcasted this transaction.

Your transaction can only confirm if this[1] transaction is confirmed. They can be confirmed in the same block, but yours can not be confirmed earlier. The other TX yours depends on pays an even lower fee. It pays 10000 satoshi for 6710 byte or ~1.5 satoshi per byte. Yours[2] pays 10000 satoshi for 374 byte or ~26.7 satoshi per byte. Current suggestions range from 40 to 60[3] satoshi per byte to get a quick confirmation.

If you know who created [1] contact them, chances are low that the TX will get confirmed.

ThomasV,

In Electrum 2.0, you cannot import private keys in a wallet that has a seed.
Is this you are pointing to? I do not want to import private keys and do not want to use separate watching-only wallet. I want to import public addresses to standard electrum wallet so I can see the whole balance and transactions relating to them . So I suppose your answer is "No, it is not possible"?  Undecided

File -> New/Restore -> Restore a wallet or import keys & Standard wallet -> enter addresses instead of seed or private keys.

Where do we see all these DT levels? I think users should really need to understand these stuff as well because leaving red trust seem acustom nowadays.  Grin how do you see which DT1 added DT2 user?

Is the prune mode activated automatically in 0.12?

I have the old 0.11 Core and I want to keep the whole block chain.

No, you need to enable pruning.

Hello mates!

Please, I have one question (maybe it's an stupid question).
How is the correct way to prune the database?

I'm with Windows version.
Run the core, download all the blockchain (finally 66Gb in disk).
Go to command line and text:
prune=5000
and receive:
Method not found (code -32601)

Then try with another possible spelling of the command, but nothing happens...

My next step was trying to set it in the bitcoin.conf file.
WTH! I have not this file!
well, I created it, nothing happens.

I dont know what I was doing bad Sad

You create a file named bitcoin.conf in your bitcoin folder, write prune=5000 in it and restart core.

Make sure its not named bitcoin.conf.txt or something like that.

I hate[1] it when you make me look up things.

Erm hate to say it, but I'm right

Well, shall we make a test then? Since we are both on DT 2 same as Lutpin they should be removed (if Im correct) or not (if you are correct) if we both exclude them.

mexxer-2 is correct, two exclusions from the same level do not remove someone.

Well, I wonder if it is more widely known by others since it looks a bit strange when a trader might get told to use an escrow named mexxer-2 and when he wants to he sees he might be a criminal mastermind. Cheesy
Meh, I've got many escrow requests even with the avatar. F*ck those who don't get the reference  Tongue

Sometimes references can be a filter to keep people out. I would argue that knowing the 6th part of the trilogy is a must. As such one will likely know Colfer and Artemis as well. In regards to escrow, I sometimes feel people do not look enough at the profiles of those they hire.
2515  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: i heard someone attacked bitcoin network by lot of transaction...? on: March 02, 2016, 01:23:50 PM
I see a huge problems with confirmations via blockchain.info nodes. They stuck for hours with normal fees. It's strange that there's no info on their twitter.
Other nodes relays transactions with 0.0001 btc fee smoothly.

Yes, I've heard that BC.i is not relaying transactions very well. Dunno if this is/was related to the spam attack. Probably some of the recent reports of stuck transactions were due to this, though there were definitely spam transactions as well.

They did something similar during the spam attack. I think its just their servers that cant handle the load.

@Intermediary: I hope you didnt pay a fee high than the 777 satoshi per byte TX I wrote you by hand. Wink

two from DT 1 can effectivly remove someone else from DT 1
Just fixing a small misconception, two users from DT 1 can only remove a user from DT 2 and below(taking into consideration that only one DT 1 user has the individual under their trust list)

DT 1 individuals can only be removed by theymos, i.e by deleting their "entry" from the trust list of DefaultTrust(which , is actually an account)

I hate[1] it when you make me look up things.

I made three improvements to the Trust system:

Firstly, there is now a neutral rating type. Neutral ratings don't affect a person's trust score at all. On a person's trust page, positive ratings are bold, neutral ratings are italic, and negative ratings are red bold-italic.

Secondly, it is now possible to exclude users in your trust list. Prefix a person's name with a tilde character (~) if you want to exclude them. If you exclude someone, then you will never see that person's ratings as trusted, even if the person is trusted by other people in your trust network.

Exclusions also travel through the trust network. If one person in your trust network trusts someone and another person excludes them, then whether or not they're seen as trusted for you is decided using these rules:
1. If someone at a lower depth (ie, closer to your trust list) disagrees with someone at a higher depth, then the person at the lowest depth wins. Due to this, no one can overrule anything you put in your trust list directly.
2. If multiple people at the same depth disagree, then the rating type that is most popular among these people wins. For example, say that you have three people in your trust list. If two of them trust someone and one of them excludes that person, then the person will not be excluded.
3. If an equal number of people at the same depth include and exclude a person, then the person will be included.

Finally, I added an easier-to-understand way of viewing your trust network to the trust settings page. The number in parentheses is the number of people in the preceding (lower) depth level who trust the person minus the number of people at the preceding depth level who exclude that person. This view contains slightly less information than the hierarchical view -- there's a link to the old view at the bottom of the trust settings page.

Also, the maximum trust depth is now 4 instead of 3, though it's probably still not a good idea to go above 2.

Damit könnte Verified by Visa bzw.

@slickwilly lets start at the start. It sounds like you are using bitcoin core, is that correct? If so, which version?

When you write "re-downloaded the entire blockchain" how exactly did you do that?
2519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.12.0 forces me to pay a certain fee. on: March 02, 2016, 12:47:45 PM
Could it be to avoid a dust change output?

How large are the input(s) you use and how many you want to send?

The transactions are ranging from 0.01-0.02BTC per transaction. I try to send them manually 1 by 1 and not as bundled transaction. 0.01BTC is not really what I consider to be dust.

I had the following in mind:

You have 2 inputs of 0.01001000 each and want to send 0.02. (no fee for simplicitiy) Core would use both inputs and have 2000 satoshi change which is below the dust limit. AFAIK if change is below the dust limit it is added to the fee.

Ok so how's about neutral feedback for trolling or "low quality posts"?

Tell me this, is + trust given for well-thought out economy posts or helpful free tools posted? No. You can have extremely high quality posts yet not get + trust. So it makes zero sense to give out - trust when not meeting the trust-givers standards.

Is that so?

Whether or not you like to admit it, but the trust system has no rules. The question is usually whether or not someone will consider your ratings as trusted or not. Ratings like (I will quote my own trust page here)

Quote
THIS DUDE HAD SEX WITH MY SISTER AND DIDNT EVEN CALL HER AFTER THE FIRST DATE. DISRESPECTFUL, ARROGANT AND AN OBVIOUS FUTURE SCAMMER. DO NOT TRADE WITH!

are perfectly fine and there are no actions taken against them as long as the person is not considered trusted (e.g. by being part of the default trust network). If the person is considered trusted you can talk to person that considers them trust worthy. E.g. if someone from DT2 put the rating you can talk to the person on DT1 that has them in their list. If they think a rating like:

Quote
Made an excellent tutorial on creating and verifying bitcoin signatures.

is fine, there is nothing you can do about it besides trying to escalate the issue further (two from DT 1 can effectivly remove someone else from DT 1).

As such there is no "abuse" as there are not allowed and disallowed uses. The only exception maybe is spam.

-snip-
That is not the intent behind the trust system.

What the trust system should be used for is based on those that are considered trusted within the system. Mainly those on level 1 as they select those on level 2 and those are considered trusted by the majority of users (as they dont change their list). Any list anyone here can come up with, will most likely be only a rough estimate or overview based on the past.
