2501  Economy / Lending / Re: Appetite for debt issued from my mining business on: January 20, 2012, 08:26:13 PM
Good idea - I'd probably go for a revenue split version rather than GLBSE.

One potential problem is if difficulty went up a lot and prices fell, then it might not be profitable.

I agree that mining is risky and there will be times when might become unprofitable. I am also pretty confident in my strategy and in it's execution thus far.
2502  Economy / Lending / Appetite for debt issued from my mining business on: January 20, 2012, 08:07:10 PM
Hello Fellow Bitcoiners,

As you know (or may not know) I have a mining business consisting of about 32Gh at the moment and still growing. Up until now, I have self funded. I am looking to see if there is an appetite from other bitcoin enthusiasts who would like to invest in this type of business and if so, how would you like to invest. I see really two options available at this time.

  • Take on a couple (two or three) private investor with a revenue split until the debt is repaid.
  • Setup a bond on the GLBSE which would allow more individuals to invest in smaller amounts. Maybe the bond would pay 4% a month?

I have plenty of room for expansion include 208v 200 amp three phase power and plenty of HVAC. I could easily do 3-5 times the hashing power I have now without issue. Also, my facilities are insured with proper security and fire detection.

As for my credentials, I have become a trusted trader on the -otc, I won the "world's best rig builder award" competition put on by coinconnect and I have been an active forum member contributing my experiences in the mining and hardware sub forums and more recently in the marketplace. I also own a Florida based business which runs and operates the actual mining operations.

I hope to get constructive feedback in this thread. If you think this is a risky venture (which it is) or would like to troll the thread for some other reason, please take it elsewhere. If you would like to contact me in private, just send me a PM.

Thanks and I look forward to your feedback.

This thread is EPIC..!!  Will toss a few pics of mine once everything is built.  @Vladamir, WOW!

Oh and if I had 1BTC for every LOL and WT* I've said while reading so far (up to only pg 20), I'd be rich.  I suddenly have this feeling I'm way way too clean with my rigs Wink

Though the mess that some people show makes the computer geek in me cry man tears.

I have a personal preference for page 43.  Grin

Hi Andrew,

Communication is key at this point. We can work out a payment plan or whatever you need.

I made this loan to help a fellow miner out.

Thanks,
James

All these discussions on scams or no scams, maybe one member should just spare the $600 get a unit and start mining to see if it is as claimed.

I'll report my findings when my bitforce single arrives. I have ordered one and can detail my experience. If anyone is wondering about my credentials:

My WOT rating (top 30) -> http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=gigavps
My rig building cred -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=51350.0
My mining farm -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.msg547120#msg547120

Gigavps, you seem to be one of the first people who have placed an order. So you should be one of the first to receive their unit, being in the first production run. Having been in recent contact with BFL yourself, can you tell us when you expect your first unit to arrive? If you still don't have a firm date/window for your unit, it would be informative to know that as well.

End of the month for the first batch is the approximate timing I was given. Second batch soon to follow.

I hope I own 200 singles and a couple rig boxes before you guys are done.

Why would you stupidly buy 200 singles for $120,000 if both products exist?
Plus 16 KW?  Hope your got a significant cooling system and electrical mains.

I'm glad you are so worried about me. I do have plenty of cooling and electrical. Thanks for asking.  Grin

Please keep throwing the FUD around so I can mine with my singles at 10Mh per watt while the rest of you fight over who is more right about how BFL is a scam, they won't deliver, they fucked up, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I hope I own 200 singles and a couple rig boxes before you guys are done.

So many people are 100% convinced that this is real while so many other people are 100% convinced it is a scam.

Hmmm, who to believe ?

Anyone with any common sense knows things never go according to plan. Anyone with skin in the game would have emailed BFL to get their questions answered. You will notice that every post where 1) someone asked for a refund or 2) has actually communicated with BFL regarding their order has had no issues or complaints.

It is only the trolls with too much time on their hands and not enough money in their pockets that seems to create all of the FUD. Sad.

All of the 5830s have been spoken for.

Just the 6950s remain.

Everyone who mines has a vested interest in a game-changing device such as BFL is claiming to release...

I agree with this. That's why I have purchased said game changing device.

Aside from that, I will troll the fuck out of any company as unprofessional as they have shown themselves to be. Yesterday I wasted fifteen minutes stringing along a credit card consolidation company with fake numbers and names because they called me off the DNC list.

I think you would agree that to come into a thread like this and start defending yourself is like swimming with sharks while you are bleeding from every limb. It showed that they cared to even come and chat with us rather than let the speculation run wild. Have their been mistakes, missteps? Sure their have. I make mistakes everyday. Have they tried to make things right by offering refunds past the 45 day paypal protection guarantee and to lower the device price until the appropriate Mh/s is reached? Yes and yes.

I think their actions to make things right prove their worthiness for my business. I feel it is unfortunate you do not feel the same way.

So is it safe to assume that you think it's unreasonable to expect the batch of orders after the pre-orders to take 4 - 6 weeks?  By what logic do you operate, exactly?

I think it is unreasonable to string your customers along with bullshit for nearing four months now and still not have a functional product to show. I operate by the logic of instant gratification...I am american after all.

I'm still confused to why you care. Did you order a single? If not, why keep posting here if it is your determination that BFL is a scam? Do you have nothing better to do with the precious little time you have on this earth?
2515  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 10 Sapphire 5830s and 5 MSI Twin Frozr 6950s on: January 18, 2012, 02:00:09 PM
6950s arrived from RMA.

2516  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [499 GH] ABCPool PPS - you should join now! <0.1% invalids & immediate payouts! on: January 18, 2012, 11:56:15 AM
So a 4% fee does not include DDOS mitigation?

A 500Gh pool with a 4% fee equals 20Gh of mining power for abcpool.co not to mention other donations.

At an average of $5 / BTC, that's around 16 coins a day for a total of $80. Over 30 days, that's $2400.

Seems like abcpool.co is making enough $$$ to mitigate the attack.

Why aren't you doing this for your loyal customers when you say you have the most reliable pool?

This is an obvious weak link in your reliability.
