2521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 17, 2017, 09:19:58 AM
Latest news - not good: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-altcoin-exchange-bittrex-eyed-with-suspicion-due-to-thousands-of-mysterious-account-closings

Maybe it is time for Byteball to get out of Bittrex...

I just noticed myself that despite being able to deposit and withdraw at will for the last few months, that recently, they where asking for strange questions and they blocked my account for withdrawals this week...

I just managed to buy some Byteball with Changelly, didn't want to risk having my funds stuck in that exchange...  Changelly exchange rate was decent.
They are pruning all old/legacy accounts it seems. This probably caused all those non-verified users to leave the stage. I personally left bittrex as well. I do not trust any exchange having my personal data. To exchange bytes and blackbytes I will have to rely on either cryptox or the bot exchanges that we have on byteball wallet.
Hard time for crypto, guys

How come we go from the Wall Observer to the Bitcoin Observer?

Yes, funny one. You may have a point there about that Satoshi Nakamoto, but that’s not the Satoshi Nakamoto.

I don't remember who said that the biggest threat to bitcoin is posed by the fact that many real devs are public figures. I think that's a major drawback.
I am so much glad that Satoshi still keeps his/her/their identity hidden.
Creating the most important threat to the financial 1% is not a prank.

It's only a problem for a crypto who dev team has an official "head" dev like Ethereum does. Or like BCH, lol.

Bitcoin has 100+ voluntary developers. Many will come and go.

Also keep in mind, Linus Torvalds is still kicking and he's had enemies within the state for decades.
I also thought about Linus Torvalds but I don't think the comparison stand! I mean I love Linux as an operating system but, I repeat, creating a financial system that goes against the establishment is a completely different thing. Hence, those who work on Bitcoin are far more troublesome for the big boys.

Good Meuh6879, glad you are finally back! And that has been quick too.
Yes, spam is back too and fees are going up as usual. We do need SegWit friendly txs so that everybody can start taking advantage of this improvement otherwise the network will clog during these days.
The bitcoin protocol is under pressure from every given angle!

Well, it's life.
Not a big deal.

No, i never write an bitcoin address on the forum ... so, no signature campaign, too.

My concern is, actually, for the security of the forum in its enterity.
If someone can change the password without an email confirmation ... it's not good (not lost password, change only !).

Perhaps, the auto-logoff with timer have been implemented for this ... problem ?
I use the setting "always connect" so the forum only ask the password 1 time every 1 month.
Sorry to say man but that's a really bad choice! I log for 60 minutes only and I start again if I need. I empty the cache and use the eraser every time I come here. I use VPN connection when connectin to Bitcointalk when I am abroad or away from home.
I actually do not have a single password saved on my browsers and I do not use password managers.
I'm a crazy old nut having to remember dozens of passwords.

Ok, now I get it!
I had a legacy Bittrex account: I could use it for crypto-crypto trades only and my withdrawal limit was huge (more than 500BTC per day). After reading this post I had a feeling they finally implemented the KYC for all and they did it.
My legacy account is considered as new and if I don't fill the Basic verification form I can't do anything else.

Such a bad Sunday news
So I gather you are Batman....and can't get your funds unless you reveal your secret identity ... bummer Sad

Bummer  Grin Grin Grin You made me laugh man. What do you think? I had no funds on bittrex I've always used it responsibly. When I needed to trade I used it otherwise no funds over there! I will probably not verify. I do not trust them having my personal data.
I guess I will have to start a new account somewhere else: it's becoming harder and harder to be Batman in crypto.

I need your help or advice, bittrex is blocking members account I immediately removed all my funds from bittrex, but what other exchange can I use?

I need some exchange that is not equal to poloniex, bittrex or yobit.

I need a professional exchange, that answer support tickets.
Try Kraken. They run their server on a toaster, but they don't fuck around with people.
What did I miss? What is happening to Bittrex? That is one of my favorite crypto-crypto exchange! Why blocking accounts and for what reason? Are verified account having this problem as well? I don't have my 2FA device with me and therefore I can't access trex right now.
Please share some info.

Let's talk price: my end of year bitcoin price prediction is getting closer. Waiting patiently for it.

2529  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-14] Bitcoin’s Big Compromise Is Unravelling As a Contentious Upgrade... on: October 15, 2017, 09:06:04 AM
On Thursday, major Bitcoin network operator (or ‘mining pool’) F2Pool formally withdrew its support for the next stage of a planned Bitcoin upgrade known as SegWit2x. Yesterday, Hong Kong Bitcoin exchange BitMEX did the same. The moves highlight persistent tensions dividing supporters of the decentralized digital payments system, which are expected to trigger a Bitcoin network split, or ‘fork,’ on or around November 18.
The consequences of that split are hard to predict, but they could be disruptive enough to end Bitcoin’s massive ongoing rally. Broadening investor interest pushed the price of each Bitcoin token up by 160% in the first six months of 2017, and the momentum has held. From around $2,500 per coin in early July, a single Bitcoin’s value has rocketed to above $5,700 as of Friday (all numbers courtesy CoinMarketCap).

No bitcoin no need for a blockchain. Easy

That's a pretty short sighted way of looking at things. The blockchain is a pretty general standard that allows itself to be utilized in various ways -- the coin aspect is just an optional 'feature' that in most cases is being used as POW/POS reward. Bitcoin was the first to kick things off, and now we're years ahead, the blockchain as technology, yes as technology, has evolved into something that has far more use cases than ever before, and it's still just the beginning.
Ok tell me how a so-called blockchain would work without mining, economic incentives etc.
I'm sorry man but I supposed you were a bit more informed about this.
And, sorry to say, but your post makes no sense. You can't tell me blockchain is a technology if you don't know how bitcoin works under the hood.
You probably don't even know that once starting the bitcoin client your blockchain starts in the form of a LevelDB.

Don't read more news about blockchain, please.

There is a lot of soccer tonight, don't forget to bet for your favorite team with the betting bot available in the bot store !
snip
Yes, I might give it a try! I would love to bet using blackbytes actually but I do not think that is possible unless I do a conditional payment with another peer, not with a bot. In any case, tonight I’ll try a small bet and see how it goes. Thanks for reminding that!
2532  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-10-14]Tale of two forks: Why Bitcoin is surging and what happens next on: October 14, 2017, 02:16:24 PM
Bitcoin is on an amazing bull run. The cryptocurrency easily surpassed $5,000 per coin and is currently trading at about $5,500—and many are wondering why.
The cryptocurrency's main issues haven't been resolved. Despite the recent upgrade, it's still too slow to be a dependable payment platform, and the people running the show remain sharply divided over how Bitcoin should move forward.
Furthermore, recent news that China is shutting down ICOs and crypto exchanges (and threats from many other jurisdictions to do something similar) put a lot of downward pressure on Bitcoin's price.
And yet, the price of Bitcoin nearly doubled since it briefly went below $3,000 on Sept. 14.

Here's what's happening.

On another note, can you please confirm, will all investors and players be getting a Bitcoin Gold payout after the fork on October 24th or should we be withdrawing beforehand?
Yes please reply about this. I think we all want to know what are you going to do with that otherwise be ready for a few withdrawals. Considering you gave us Bitcoin Cash I don't see why you couldn't do the same again.
On a different note, please try to fix my investing issue: waiting for a reply to my email since a while now.
Thanks

Hey there, I haven't received any word yet from the admin about the fork/BTG yet, however as soon as I receive info on it I will be sure to post it here asap so you can plan ahead for it =)

In terms of your investing issue, sorry you've been having problems with it. Can you give me a little more info as to what issues you're having with it so that I can relay the info to the proper department? Feel free to PM me on here if you'd rather keep certain info private. I'll be sure to check on here later on today to see if you've replied/PMed. Sometimes, emails will get drowned out by people sending multiple emails about the same thing over and over again. With this being said, we please ask that everyone please send one (detailed) email and be patient rather than sending messages about the same issue daily so that we can get to them all in a timely manner. Either that, or send me a PM here on bitcointalk so I can put you in queue for support. Thanks everyone, and I wish you good luck! I hope you all win big guys/gals!
There has been a server-side error a while ago that brought my investment profit down to -0.99 btc in one second and also emptied those 0.99 from my balance. Safedice restored my balance correctly (plus a small compensation) but the investing stats are still on -0.99 hence I stopped investing.
I simply want my stats to be set to zero so that I can start investing again. Easy!

Hmmm, that is very strange. I've tried to mimic this bug but wasn't able to, I'm guessing it may have happened during an update or something like that. No worries though, I have your issue logged here and I've informed the admin on what we need to do for your account. The admin has been quite busy recently, so give it a few days if you can. If it still hasn't reset after a few days, please either get ahold of me via PM or here on the thread so that I can make sure it gets done for you. Investing is one of my fav parts of SD (yes, I invest on my account too!) and I'd hate for you to not partake bc of this stats issue. Btw, can you either PM me or post your username that you use on SD so that I relay the proper info to the admin? Thanks for being so patient with us, and we'll definitely get this taken care of for you one way or another =)

Ok that has been finally fixed! SafeDice did not reset my stats to zero but brought me back to my previous stats. I can start investing again after having lost a few coins while playing. I see the bankroll is increasing and going back to good levels. It looks like investors are coming back.
Let us know about bitcoin gold drop.
2534  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-14] World Bank President: Everyone Is Excited About Blockchain on: October 14, 2017, 02:08:06 PM
"Blockchain technology is something that everyone is excited about, but we have to remember that bitcoin is one of the very few instances. And the other times when blockchain was used they were basically Ponzi schemes, so it’s very important that if we go forward with it, we're sure that it’s not going to be used to exploit," he told the network.
The only reasonable use of the so-called Blockchain Technology is Bitcoin. Again, for the millionth time there is no such thing as the blockchain technology.
That is their way to deceive and fool companies and people. They talk blockchain and they want its application while the only application is bitcoin.

No bitcoin no need for a blockchain. Easy

Wait and see mode activated! I can’t keep up with all that is happening. Mempool does not help even if I would like to leverage some coins to put some sell orders just in case. Only the golden rule applies here: to hold. I remember those times in which we used to say that the 24 hours are critical. They are, indeed.
2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A small Pacific island will now let you pay for citizenship with bitcoin. on: October 12, 2017, 06:30:30 PM
Give it time: when this island starts to be populated by a bunch of bitcoiners expect the US Navy conquering it soon. It sounds like a good idea but smart bitcoiners need to understand how the world works. Nobody will like rich bitcoiners in the future, so better to stay off the grid while enjoying the crypto life.
At least these are my two satoshis.

When BTC skyrockets alts get always left behind, always. Byteball is known, unfortunately, as an altcoin although it has completely different characteristics compared to bitcoin. But traders and speculators are the market makers here. They pumped byteball hard in June/July to profit from the hype and they made it.
This is not a good time for Byteball but this is another coin to hold
