I am happy for the tapeout and also confess that I was wrong thinking that they focus on datorhall exclusively now. My mistake, born out of frustration and long wait.
However, part of the initial trust was lost due to KnC own actions.
Here is the timeline:
1. Dec new post from KC-"keep your coins ready" for upgradable modules (for sure) and maybe Jupiters "from stock"-everybody were waiting, and...nothing, not a peep from company, apart from a post from o'rama.
2. Vague mention of a "possible" plan B with no details.
3. datorhall buildout (swedish video) with NO official news-nothing on facebook, twitter, official page, as if it did not exist.
4. ~5000 BTC mined in suggested datorhall address.

There is a possibility that #2-4 will be addressed in due course, I grant you that, but point #1 actually DID happen in the opposite direction (no upgrades) with no official info from the company apart from this thread post.

All and all, Neptunes will be in May-June by almost any calculation (optimistically, May 15 for CA, May 30 for 1st, June 30 for 2nd) , which is ~1 month later than I hoped. We should get electrical, etc info in the next 10-14 days, I hope.

Even #1 although it did happen, it wasn't "for sure". The actual quote is (and I'll highlight the bits I noticed when it was posted):

"If we do have more items to place in the shop for our 28nm range, we will announce this via one of our newsletters which will contain the time and date that they will go on sale. So keep some coins handy as we expect them to go quick."

People were waiting for upgrades/Jupiters regardless of "ifs"

I know, and they should have provided upgrades for Saturn and Mercury owners, in fact they did provide a sale of upgrades at one point, and yes it was badly handled, I don't disagree with some of the issues people have with the expectations regarding upgrades, remember I'm a customer also, and maybe would have liked to buy some upgrades or even spare boards for emergencys! But I'm not getting my knickers in a twist over it and I was just showing that they did couch the advice about whether their would be upgrades carefully with enough vagueness for me to be wary of it and certainly not to take it as a sure thing.
2542  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: March 07, 2014, 06:56:58 PM
Hi I received my first Mining machine and have been through the setup. Once it was connected it began mining fine to the default pool set up from the manufacturer, However once I deleted these and entered my own BTCguild details the miner hasn't done anything the green lights have gone off on the PCB and miner status details are totally blank. Can someone please help me get it going. Thanks

Sounds like either a syntax error in the url or the machine can't "see" the internet. Have you tried using the tools from the web interface to ping your pool?
2543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Silverstone Strider 1500W for 3-4 GTX 780 any good? on: March 07, 2014, 06:53:48 PM
I am about to buy a new PSU for my pc and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Silverstone Strider 1500W PSU. Also what kind of a UPS should I buy? I currently have 2 GTX 780 and thinking of getting either a GTX 780 more or 2 GTX 750ti. Also a CPU AMD FX 8350. Will that PSU be ok? Thanks in advance!

I ran 4 Titans off a Strider 1500W with a 3930KCPU and X79 mobo so you should be fine, not the most efficient as its only Silver but it will work no problem.

We are already VAT registered and our listed prices are inclusive of VAT. We also have an EROI number for exporting from the UK.

Hi. I thought the prices are inclusive of VAT!! I was getting ready to pay for my order but at the end of check out..surprise..VAT on top of the advertised price. Is that right? Have I missed something? Plus, no option to "pick up" as they have stated before on here and on the phone. 120 quid for delivery in London?!?
Final price for one Enigma 1 delivered in London Uk = £2322!

2546  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 1.11 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 07, 2014, 06:28:46 PM
Why don't you fools ask them privately? Rather than out here for the whole world to see? FFS! They have email, they have PM, they even have a box when you place your order where you can put a request in. Roll Eyes

Yeah it is to little and mixed information coming out of KnC so they certanly spread some FUD themselves. :-)

Yes I think the Avenger's pics are funny too. It is like the guy icebreaker who hade Avenger's role in some other threads. It's just such a wierd way to spend your life but people should do what they want.

Yeah it is to little and mixed information coming out of KnC so they certanly spread some FUD themselves. :-)

Its not like KnC are acting strangely, this is exactly the same sort of information flow that happened for Jupiter/Saturn/Mercury. And exactly the same sort of rampant speculation was being thrown around then by similar people.

Some time ago I asked the same questions of both Avenger and edgar, they seem to want us to believe that they do it for altruistic reasons, that they hate the idea of "liars and scammers" ripping people off. But I don't buy all of it, its too personal, too, random, too, OTT vicious to be altruistic.

But you are right there does always seem to be some, and in some cases its well warranted, many of the other manufacturers are 3 months late and only now starting to hand out dribs and drabs of miners in what sometimes feels like a random fashion. Heck some are delayed till May or later before the first rig rolls off the line.

KnC for all their faults managed to deliver, not perfectly for everyone sure, but for the majority they delivered more than they promised, and they did it using the same methodology in both engineering, manufacturing and communications, that they are still using to date.

I'm a big boy, and I imagine most people who can afford to lay down 10K on a piece of hardware are also, we know what we got into, and heck if we want out we can get out, refund, cash in whatever, and if we want to wait for our Neptune or take a risk on 3T of cloud hashing then we can make those decisions as well.

If you are concerned about "n00bs" coming in and being "influenced" to lay down their hard earned cash in an ill advised way then just explain to them the facts and risks, no need to grandstand and be all indignant and righteous.

2550  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 28nm ** 1T ** 900W【JingTian miner】 in production !!! on: March 07, 2014, 03:14:29 PM
Exactly, the web page with the "list of authorised resellers" is a load of old cack. Technobit is making miners using the chips, as are bitcoinultra, neither of which is listed as authorised resllers.

In fact the main authorised reseller are also being hauled over the coals because they are months late delivering as are bitmine themselves! Sounds alot like sour grapes to me.

The main point is bitmine themselves can't be trusted, they screwed all their preorder customers, and at the end of the day its just one persons (Giorgio) word against another, if bitmine are so sure that they are being ripped off then they should put some of those preorder millions where their mouth is and sue someone.

Until that happens, and they win, then all bets are off, and as a consumer I don't think it matters a whit what you buy, unless your an idiot and start shouting about all your kit all over the net no-one is going to know.

Technobit and others got their chips from zefir or direct from bitmine, nothing wrong there.

You cant have it both ways. They aren't on the page so according to you they can't be trusted.

Questiontime, please disclose your financial or professional interest in this matter. Are you employed by bitmine, or stand to gain financially from them in any way? Are you a customer of theirs? Perhaps if so you could let us know how you feel about the delays?

Are you a perhaps a legal professional? if so you should be declaring whether your advice has any legal merit or if you are just a keyboard warrior who is getting a backhander for badmouthing any opposition.

I just dont get why you are on a crusade regarding this, innocent until proven otherwise, its not like these chinese 1TH miner manufacturers are scammers they are providing hardware and it appears to work fine. All we have is you, whoever you are, kicking up a fuss, and Giorgio the CEO of Bitmine, whoever he is, and his words.

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — March 5, 2014 –– KnC, the most trusted brand in Bitcoin Mining is announcing they have completed ‘tape out’ of their new ASIC.

Meanwhile in the KNC thread on bitcointalk, remaining Neptune customers discuss this news

Roll Eyes There isn't much to discuss, but I'd hardly call 100 posts nothing.

I guess most people either have you and edgar on ignore or they realised long ago that arguing with you is like arguing with religious fanatics, an excercise in futility.  Undecided

November Jupiter ASIC...  Tried on multiple control boards.  White light flashes quick then it seems like every 10 seconds for 3 or 4 times the white, red and green flash at the same time.  I've gone over the board with a fine tooth but I can't see anything wrong.

Also should mention board worked perfect before it was also a front of the Jupiter ASIC.  Power supplies ranged from 1200-1500 that I've tested the board on my other Jupiters with.

Any ideas?

Not trying to plug a November board into an October controller maybe?

Or was his post "moderated"?

Its not a self moderated thread, I cant see a reason for the moderation if a dialogue was ongoing.
2558  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 28nm ** 1T ** 900W【JingTian miner】 in production !!! on: March 07, 2014, 03:06:46 AM
Got it. It's a monstrosity with 3 external power supplies that I have to wire in myself... however even the power side needs to be screwed in with bare wires, and that's basically illegal to do in my country unless you're a certified A grade electrician... so I'm not sure exactly what to do with it yet  Undecided

External power supplies??  Got a picture?
It's as per the opening post, but with one extra power supply (presumably a spare/redundancy). Here's some photos, including a baseball cap for size comparison:

http://ck.kolivas.org/pictures/JTMiner/

Uggh.. wouldn't be an issue for me to wire it up here in the UK but I thought it was gonna look more like the Dragon miners (massive black box with two ATX PSUs) like bobsag got. That one looks half finished, mind you if it works I could grow to love it Smiley

We are already VAT registered and our listed prices are inclusive of VAT. We also have an EROI number for exporting from the UK.

Sorry to be pendantic.

Can you confirm the new price of $3200 (£1910) INC VAT or around 4.9BTC INC VAT?

Thanks
2560  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 28nm ** 1T ** 900W【JingTian miner】 in production !!! on: March 06, 2014, 09:54:54 PM
I have a tracking number, so *something* is being sent to me, for what it's worth.
The *something* is a JTminer. Can't wait for your review.   Smiley

Why would ckolivas incriminate himself?
They asked me to review it I said I would not, as I am not in the business of reviewing hardware or supporting any manufacturer. They then offered to send me hardware, to which I said I would graciously accept it - to make it possible for them to submit their driver code for inclusion to master cgminer and have me help them. When the hardware arrives I will gladly validate that it exists, hashes etc, but I cannot vouch for the company's business in any other way since I am not a customer as such.

Apologies, I should have said verified that it exists, hashes and does what it says on the tin, I never meant to assume that you would do any more than that.
