1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antproxy -- Bitcoin mining proxy + log/monitoring script on: February 16, 2024, 03:21:33 PM
Yes it is one of the better options out there, I've used it since about 2020

I'm not sure if they still do it, but If you contact support they will give you a nifty curl link to install the Linux version which ran pretty stable last time I tried it.

2  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Start and stop mining under 10sec - model and programs? on: January 11, 2024, 04:34:57 PM
I think he just wants to stop and resume mining without shutting down or turning off the miner itself.

There is or was a command line tool which I think Avalon added to the cgminer codebase called "cgminer-api" which you could then run api commands against an running instance of cgminer, and as long as you had your config file setup with the API access turned on you could then tell it to stop, start, pause, change pool etc, using the standard Cgminer commands.

Its even listed in Linux but you have to install cgminer through apt to get it.

Code:
Command 'cgminer-api' not found, but can be installed with:

sudo apt install cgminer

Dunno what that does to any existing cgminer you have running on that machine but if you are installing it on a separate box that you will use to control your miner or miners then it should be ok.

I don't know the codebase or anything so YMMV kano might know something about the command line app itself.

Actually, AFAIK there is no ability within cgminer api to pause and restart mining, you can shutdown cgminer using the api but once its shutdown I can't see how you would start it again remotely.

https :// www. bitfufu. com/

I can not join them As they do not allow USA to register.

With KYC.

They are selling bit main coupons at a good price

0.037 cents on the dollar

I could use 100 worth   which is around  2703 discount

if they work I would buy another 100 worth  2703 discount

So UK any one .

SO I could offer extra if someone wants to buy them and transfer them to me.

Going to put this on marketplace.

I'm in the UK phil, surprised you don't remember  Grin

PM me and we can sort something out.

The scam side of it seems to be more to do with the fact they offer cloud mining contracts and we all know how they can go.
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: DEMAND - 1st StratumV2 Mining Pool - SOLO on: December 12, 2023, 06:30:40 PM
This all sounds crazy to me. Maybe I just don't get it

It's gonna be the pool that ends up censoring the transactions surely? Individual miners, or even large farms of miners aren't going to give a fuck about what transactions go in where, they just want the maximum reward for spending all that money on equipment and electricity right?

If it was up to the invdividual miners, say if there are 1000 miners on a pool and 50% of them could not accept a midgetpornmeme transaction and 50% could, or even if there is one pool that doesn't accept a particular transcation but another 4 pools do, I mean whats changed?

So the pools are going to end up doing it, but will it make any difference, and if not why bother doing it unless its just to promote your own pool/code/software and cut some extra profit somewhere on the side for yourself as a company.

Maybe the pool will have a page where you can vote, but then who controls what the other pools do, if they all vote the other way then it doesn't matter.

8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which ASIC miner too choose for Bitcoin Mining? on: October 20, 2023, 10:03:34 AM
So basically you're looking for calculator website like whattomine? They also have an ASIC section IIRC. I tried to access the cn domain for Bitmain but it seems their certificate has expired. I'd stick with Bitmain.com as of now. You can also verify it through their social media afaik. As for Iceriver, the website on their social media is the .io one. CMIIW.

I am aware of Whattomine and Asicminervalue. I was confused by the profitability of Bitcoin ASIC miners as the current highest profitable miner is Bitmain Antminer S19 XP Hyd (255Th), which gives $0.31/day after the Electricity cost. I was confused because the profitability is too low compared to other miners like Iceriver which mines Kaspa.

$0.31 a day after electricty is obviously caculated using the electricity price of 12c/kw, try put 0.06 $/kw in the box at the top of the page, most mining companies or hosted miners will be paying that or even less.

Whats interesting is the KS miners didn't scale very well to lower electricty costs, I think the top one only went up by $3 a day, wheras the BTC miners were very sensitive to it. The S19 XP Hyd for example going from $0.83 to $8.56 per day.
9  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Solo mining help on: October 19, 2023, 12:17:14 PM
I tried to find the pools you mentioned above, and for ckpool & kano pool the browser did not want to go there saying that they have malware.
Kano pool is a small pool that doesn't find blocks way too often and thus you will likely have to wait for way too long to get paid, in theory, eventually, the payout should be higher than the other pools since it has the lowest fees, I personally don't like to bear such variance, but to each his own idea.

@op They say they have malware because they are associated with or have downloads of cgminer on them and some web filters eroneously consider any site with miner software downloads is a trojan/virus/compromised site.

With regards to small pools, of course the variance is directly related to the hashrate of the pool, so the more people mine there the less the variance affects the outcome.

Some people are super sensitive to variance, even on large pools, they jump ship when there is a run of bad luck.

Using these smaller pools and boosting their hashrate may be a good way of getting around the larger pools becoming more and more restrictive with sign-up requirements and lack of anonymity.

11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: October 09, 2023, 03:07:03 PM
@sidehack or anyone really

Anyone had experience of the Gekkoscience USB hub slowly losing ports then just dying?

Mine started losing ports a few months back, but as I only have 3 stick miners on it I just moved them around thinking it was the miners but they worked for a while on the other ports.

Then a few weeks ago none of the ports seem to work with miners in them, the fan port still provides power, and the other ports light up the miners, but as soon as cgminer loads up it loses contact with the miners.

Its a 2019 version been running off the 6pin PSU connector all these years with no issues, then just gone.

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: October 09, 2023, 08:39:09 AM
A little beyond what I've done before, but I'm giving it a shot! When I use powershell or command prompt, I get "connection timed out" when using the IP of the miner. It's connected over Ethernet with ports 8333 and 3333 open. When I simply try to ping the IP address, it gives me request timed out with one "destination host unreachable".
Your device either has no Ethernet connection or you're using the wrong IP. You can hook up an HDMI monitor or check your DHCP server to see if the miner has an IP and if so, which one.

I was actually able to finally connect to the pool by plugging the ethernet directly into the modem's router that also has the ports forwarded (I was incorrectly typing the IP into the command prompt for the SSH previously). What would you recommend I check on an Asus router's settings that may be causing the issue there, but not when plugged directly into the modem's router?

Thanks again!

You should only need 8333 forwarded, 3333 is an outgoing port for connecting to the pool, nothing should be coming into your network on that port unless you run a pool.

Sounds like you might have a double NAT problem if your modem is providing NAT and your Asus router is doing the same the incoming packets will get lost along the way.

This is getting into trickier network configuration than I would like to troubleshoot on a forum, but you need to either switch the isp's router into bridge or modem only mode, or put the asus in the DMZ on the ISPs router, or remove the ISP router and replace it with the Asus (if the Asus has the capability to do that), or remove the ASUS from the equation altogether if it can't.

If you have everything locked down on the ISP modem/router then I don't see why you would need the Asus to do the same thing.

13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: September 28, 2023, 03:53:53 PM
Just set up my miner and it’s fully synced, but it won’t stay online. I keep thinking it has to be an issue with how I’m entering the pool info, but it’s pretty straightforward. The light in front is solid red for the most part but occasionally blinks fast and back to solid. I’m using Braiins Pool (or attempting to…). Any help/idea on what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks!!

Have you tried any other pools?

I know that the FutureBit Apollo doesn't supoort Asicboost, and there is some sort of requirement for it in the Stratum V1-V2 proxy software they devopled. What I don't know is if they are using the proxy at slushpool oops Braiins pool  Smiley

I'd try another standard pool, maybe kano or ckpool or viabtc and see if it works there.

I just signed up for Kano and input the pool and username info, but still the same issue where the Pools section shows an inactive status. When I first turned on the unit, it wouldn't stay online but kept going on and offline. I flashed the drive and didn't do the ubuntu update and it then showed the hashboard as active. I haven't flashed the NVME to re-download the blockchain but could that at all impact connecting to any pool?

Thank you for the suggestion!! I feel lost and like there's awkwardly no support so I appreciate it.

Hmm, maybe best to go back to basics.

How is the Apollo connected to your network? Wifi or Ethernet?

Have to tried SSH'ing into the box

ssh futurebit@IP.Address.of.box
pwd: futurebit123

Then try to ping stratum.kano.is

Then try and traceroute stratum.kano.is

Then try and telnet stratum.kano.is 3333
(type quit to exit if you get a connection)

That will troubleshoot your miners network access to the pool.

Oh the only other thing I think is that kano might only allow futurebit miners on the solo part, so you might have to convert your account to a solo one to actually mine, but you can try the above troubleshooting steps with any other pool like ckpool or ViaBTC

Good luck

16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who are the Reputable Mining Hosting Companies? on: September 05, 2023, 11:27:44 PM
The only two mining hosting companies that I can personally recommend in terms of reliability and trustworthiness are:

US: Teslawatt
https://teslawatt.com/

Canada: D-Central
https://d-central.tech/

Whether you will make a profit or not you will have to do the calculations yourself.
17  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Solo mining help on: August 18, 2023, 04:29:36 PM
Don't trust, verify.

Difficulty you face is there is nothing to verify, no mainnet blocks found on either of the pools known to run your code.

I'm impressed that you coded a pool from scratch, and understand the catch 22 you are in trying to get people to use your pools whilst not having any proof they actually work.

Just pointing out your clever sounding catch phrase rings a bit hollow, no offence intended  Smiley

It's a NerdMiner, so it's the normal hashrate for them. also known as a lottery miner Wink

But i can't see the miner running if i enter my address on the pools website. can you help me with that? Smiley
The NerdMiner is less than a lottery miner – it is just a actual hype in the twitter space.

Lottery miner as we know them have at least 1x ASIC chip from a real ASIC miner and delivers hashrate in the gigahash range. The NerdMiner is nothing more than a mini computer with a display that is raped to do cpu mining and delivers hashrates in the kilohash range.

4'500'000 NerdMiner with 20 KH/s each deliver the same hashrate as 1x GekkoScience NewPac USB ASIC miner with 90 GH/s - and 1x NewPac costs only $50-100 Wink

You're right yeah, i got them super cheap, so it's ok for me Smiley

You have a link for a good website for NewPac Miners in europe?
