U should ask nexern, I already told too much. I did but i think he was too busy with the DDOS counterattack...anyhow i'm sure he will elaborate over the coming weeks.

Standalone package for the Raspberry Pi:I've put together a package with the current version of the NXT server and the Embedded Version of Oracle JRE that you can run on your Raspberry Pi as-is. You can get it from my public node server. To download and run it on the Pi, do the following steps in a local or remote console. I assume you have the Pi up and running already, using e.g. Raspbian. I myself am using Raspbian, however, the package should also work with other distributions. wget http://109.230.224.65/~nxt/nxt_rasppi.tar.gz tar -xf nxt_rasppi.tar.gz cd nxt ./run_nxt.sh
You can tweak the JRE call in the run_nxt.sh script if you want, most importantly of course: the memory usage. I have found that my preset values are more than enough, so you might want to try to tweak them lower, especially if you want to do something else with the Pi while running the server. Also, I put a symlink in the rootdir called configfile which leads to the web.xml file, for easier access. I recommend running the server in some sort of backgrounding context, as it is basically a daemon. Use a multiplexer like screen or at least use nohup. If you want to access the client from another machine, as you probably are starting the server remotely, remember to put your accessing IP or "*" as allowed addresses in the configfile. Have fun trying it out, and remember to post your impressions of NXT on a Pi. someone pls FIX a thread with this on nextcoin ASAP!

Thx. A thought has crossed my mind... Could "The Hive" feature, developed by nexern, be deployed to those raspberries... can you elaborate on what is "THE HIVE"

Email to liz of the Raspberrypi foundation as suggested by rickyjames here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4135535#msg4135535https://twitter.com/Liz_Uptonliz@gastronomydomine.com" Liz, Hi there, merry christmas, my apologies for the odd hour of this email but let me assure you, it is very necessary and possibly rewarding. I am ola, I am working with several members of the "NXT" crypto currency community to bootstrap a new decentralized, built from the bottom up protocol, for decentralized digital currency and other decentralized utilities. The Nxt community needs the help of your raspberrypi community badly. The members of the Nxt crypto currency community have put together a Fund to award to any individual or organization that can help us increase the strength of our network. We believe that your community has to tools to help us achieve this. As a result we are prepared to donate a large amount of the funds to your organization in exchange for exposure to your community on your forums. We are currently in the alpha stage, testing the decentralized network and we are getting ddosed constantly...This problem will go away if we had several thousand Nxt nodes set up on several computers. Members of your community are adept at using raspberry pies and are always looking for new ways to use these devices. Your community armed with rasberrypi devices can help us accomplish just that . Please feel free to respond at any time and let me know what you think about this synergetic proposal. Thank you. Our opponent became scared of PI and started sending 1 NXT payments trying to bloat the blockchain. We should definitely do that trick with Raspberry PI...

Could someone can add some interface into alias.html, for example, to search the alias name associated with an account?
BTW, I get the following API related to alias name, but I don't know the exact format to call those APIs. Anyone who can add a page "api.html" into the client should be greatly appreciated.
assignAlias getAlias getAliasIds getAliasURI
it's already coded. i will add this tonight, including a small searchengine for aliases to blockexplorer. Nice

I strongly urge you to get in touch with Liz Upton of the Raspberry Pi Foundation ASAP. You've got a big problem and she has a possible solution she could get implemented very quickly.
Someone else should do that. I'm not a CEO of Nxt. Let me rephrase my comment. I volunteer to contact Liz Upton of the Raspberry Pi Foundation if somebody can provide me with a node script for the Pi and possibly some sort of NXT donation proposal for the Foundation / users to sweeten the deal for them. The war chest is full donations can be arranged from there if it can work..we need to 1st confirm if Nxt will run on Pi...can you look into this with them.

Someone else should do that. I'm not a CEO of Nxt. I think this guy has figured it out...@ Nov....I think he post here regularly. "PS: Java installed perfectly on Raspberry Pi, thank you guys. And it is still mining. Looks like it did not brake. Will try to do more experiments." https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137934.2020

I also thought about buying some raspberry pi to use it as nxt nodes... but haven't found anything about how to set this up. Anyone has Raspberry Pi running as nxt node? Ok, just saw this: could raspberry Pi idea work?
Yes. I saw an article in russian where the author stated that he was running NRS on PI. Any HowTo's ? this tread is running on Nextcoin: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1092.msg10424.html#msg10424

Plus, when the apocalyptic showdown between Bitcoin and NXT starts in earnest in a week, there would be a certain delicious irony seeing $5000 ASIC operators in a death match with $25 Pi operators.
Most of bitcoiners r our allies in the fight against banks and government agencies. could raspberry Pi idea work?

Does that mean, that an account with many coins can ruin me (I lose all my coins) just because he wants to see me suffer No. 51% of all coins required for that. This is good old democracy. or 501,000,000 Nxt....I love it!....that will keep em in line

Maybe, but not necessarily. Person A would be able to issue and redeem an asset named "MSFT" and person B would be able to issue and redeem an asset named "Microsoft". "MSFT" or "Microsoft" could both represent the same thing or different things.
Someone may register "Microsoft2" and state that it's better than "Microsoft". 1) so then why would someone pay more for microsoft when they can pay alot less for Microsoft99 2) How would I be able to state that microsoft99 is better than microsoft....will there be some built in criteria of asset ranking? Because most people will search for the asset called "microsoft" on the Nxt exchange and not the asset called "microsoft99". so it seems like there will be multiple levels of search in the Nxt client....as people can search for Microsoft alias or Microsoft asset Assets would be searchable in Nxt asset exchange only....which will clearly be part of the Nxt client

Ok... so we can direct aliases to websites, crypto clients, etc., can someone expand on the characteristics of NXT assets?
If you are familiar with Ripple, this will sound very similar. An asset is an IOU that represents a certain item (BTC, usd, gold oz). There are gateways that will issue these assets on the Nxt network. Only the register of the asset name "BTC" will be able to issue an IOU with the name "BTC". Other gateways can still issue bitcoin, but they have to use a different name that is still available (ex. BTC2, BTCTWO). These assets can be bought or sold on the Nxt network for Nxt or other IOUs. You can redeem your IOUs by sending them back to the issuer. The issuer will then send you the physical or digital asset. good thing i blocked gateway alias!

Will these tag be arbitrarily generated in the system and we bid for them....or we can generate any tags we wish?
The same as with Alias System. Good ole squatting. Edit: Asset names limited to 3-10 chars only. So their number is much lower than number of aliases which can be up to 100 chars long. so if person A registered MSFT and person B registered Microsoft....they would both have microsoft

Someone keeps registering all aliases, I hope he will have money left to register assets like "Bitcoin" and "USD" register assets.....what do u mean there will be ownership of asset names in the Nxt Asset Exchange? and this would be separate from alias in the wider Nxt ecosystem. Yes. Registering an asset means that u reserve its tag, like MSFT for Microsoft. Will these tag be arbitrarily generated in the system and we bid for them....or we can generate any tags we wish?

It's trying to offer exactly the same as Mastercoin and Colored Coins.
So... after researching NXT that is the conclusion you've come to. Fair enough... some of us see more. Oh prove me wrong please. BTW, I am not trying to FUD but if you want to succeed and justify your market cap, you need to be able to answer these questions. So you are saying that the list in the OP is not correct? What is missing? Nxt will have the following features: - Decentralized Asset Exchange / Colored Coins (Starting after block 30000) This allows gateways to issue other currencies (fiat or crypto) on the Nxt network. - Decentralized Marketplace / Auction - Decentralized Mixing Service - Encrypted Messaging / Chat - Decentralized DNS / Alias System (Starting at block 22000) - Transparent Mining (Partially starting at block 25000) - DDoS Protection - Project Kharon - Voting
Block 22,000 crossed yesterday...Alias systems implemented....more than 10,000 Alias assigned.... Check....next is 25,000 -- Things are moving to plan....the alias system is what drove market cap to current levels
