You would think Mtgox could provide a real time ticker.
Look at the lemmings jumping off the cliff, 'its crashing I better join in'
i didn't notice this until AFTER I'd sent some bitcoins to mtgox

if i had sent them to btc-e instead, i could have sold them for ~8.40 and then transferred that money to mtgox =/

By the time you would have gotten your Dollars to mtgox, we would be at 100$

haha, probably

lemming pictures

 Cheesy

well, i still wouldn't consider buying until it got to 7.50-7.55

yeah, 12.1 should be fine.

i have 3 5870's in a system w/ phoenix & aggression rating 9, it's about 1-2% per instance (this based on my dual core e6850 that's been underclocked to like 1600mhz and 1 core disabled)
2565  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] Private Trackers ( Invites / Account ) Huge List ! on: July 14, 2012, 04:54:24 AM
what happened on what.cd will happen on any of the better trackers, eventually (whole invite tree banned)

if you were to actually buy a tracker invite from this person, i'd shoot for one of the mediocre ones

sapphire xtremes @ 1000/195 @ 1.163v (at night) or 920/195 @ 1.063v (during the day) were stable for me over a period of about two months on 3 cards.  something to start at when changing voltage, anyway

(as i recall, they were able to do 1040/195, 1035/195, and 1010/195 as max stable)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=16406.0

use that for Windows, it's so much easier than afterburner or w/e else =p

Or CGMiner...
but then you couldn't use phoenix

2568  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2Pool Server List on: July 13, 2012, 01:07:45 PM
If zvs found a block would his bitcoind try to upload it to all 1000 connections at once or do it one by one?
it would send as they asked for it, but that wouldn't be all at once.. and it wouldn't be all of them, since by the time some "found" it, it would have spread to other ppl in their peer list..  i'm thinking that's how it is, anyway.  it says i've solved like 20 or so blocks on blockexplorer, and i don't get 1000 asks all at once

it doesn't send that much data, anyway.  here's a traffic snapshot:

i did drop it from 1000 to 500, though... so this shows ~600 connections.  i'll probably raise it again to 700 or 800 next time I compile (it was bogging down my CPU a bit at 1000)

(ed:  it's on dedicated connection with plenty of bandwidth, feel free to addnode=5.9.24.81 if you need to DL block chain)
2569  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Damaged ASUS P8H77-V on: July 12, 2012, 02:17:09 AM
To prevent breakage, a good way to unbend bad pins is to use a mechanical pencil with the lead removed. The tiny cylinder fits the pins reasonably well.
i trashed a vry expensive CPU like 10 yrs ago because of *1* bent pin

i didnt know how easily they came off =/

i'll put magical worker 4F back to work, 2 bitcoin solves in 400k shares!

come on 4F, make it rain!!!!

4F needs another couple weeks to get to 200k, then it should have it solved =p

all but one of my non-busted gpus (a growing collection) are now in use.  using top secret methods to solve block, im rdy for bonus
2571  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Unstable hash rate with Radeon 5970 on: July 12, 2012, 12:20:13 AM
I have a Radeon 5970 in my server that I'm using for mining, but I'm having some issues with it. At first I had problems getting both cores to work, but I seem to have fixed that now. The problem now though is that the hash rate is fluctuating a lot between about 170-350Mhash/s on each core. Shouldn't it be more stable than that? When I try mining with only one core its a lot more stable and stays at around 340-350Mhash/s.
The GPU's are at stock-speed(725MHz) and I haven't done any clocking other than underclocking the memory to 500MHz(wont go lower than that in either CCC or MSI Afterburner).
Should also mention that I'm using WinXP 32bit, Catalyst 11.10 and Stream SDK 2.1. And I'm using GUIminer with phoenix to mine.

Also, I'm currently using these flags:

-k phatk VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=FALSE AGGRESSION=7 worksize=128

For some strange reason I get the highest hash rate when I set AGGRESSION to 7, any other number and hash rate drops.

Anyone have any idea of what could be the problem?
i get the highest hash rate at 6 and 7 aggression too, but i don't believe it, so I use 9 instead

it shouldn't fluctuate that much though.  @ 6 or 7 i might see jumps from 360 to 390 or something like that.  did you try checking temps?  it could be throttling itself
2572  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Can I fit another 5970? on: July 12, 2012, 12:16:49 AM
If ya glue another pcie slot to your motherboard you might be able too =p

My mobo can fit 4 cards.
Straight off the Gigabyte website, on the page of my MOBO.

Ohh and also, the board layout.

6 PCI-e slots. I think so.

Great mobo, to bad it's running a cheapo Sempron.

well, i have dual core CPU's in all of my machines, but just because that's what i had leftover from years ago.

i disable one core, underclock mb, turn off sound and all that junk.

If this round becomes invalid, I'm going to cry.

I am already on the ledge!

Taking the 3.5% insurance helps!  Not too late is it?

What is the longest for this pool?

6.4 mil and 6.2 mil are the two longest in terms of shares

besides block #1, this is the longest one, though (ed: in amt of time)

so much for my 0.000034xx since may  Undecided

How to disable LP of alt-coins?

I'm planning to stay at least with BTC/NMC...
Smoovious answer above...   Smiley
There is no LP for the alt-coins. You only get 1 LP for the primary coin. The rest of the compatible coinage is merged into the same work your miner is doing for the primary coin.

-- Smoov

ah, nice.

i think I'll still leave 'em all off though, just cause my bitcoind has over 1000 connections and i don't want more load on my server =p

and it's still @ 5.9.24.81 port 9332

2578  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will ASIC mining destroy Bitcoin? on: July 09, 2012, 07:18:47 AM
Moores law man (kinda). At some point ASIC will become the "new" GPU and it will have to be upgraded or completely changed at some point. Will it destroy bitcoin? That was just a title to entice readers. It will only strengthen competition for miners which can only be good right?
And what can be wrong with strengthening the power of the miners? It will only make it more difficult for a 51% attack.
you don't use ASICs for gaming

how will it strengthen competition for miners?  strengthen competition amongst the 2% that are left?

who cares about a 51% attack when nobody cares about bitcoins anymore?

surely i'm not the only one that solely became interested because I could use my existing equipment to procure my 'own' bitcoins

i wouldn't have thought twice about it had it required some POS that was useless otherwise.

ed: (and why in the hell would more people have ASICs than GPUs, making a "51% attack" less likely?  since when does total hash power figure in here, rather than # of players?)
If the only reason you like Bitcoin is because you could make money from mining, then it's not much of a loss when you leave.
haha, that's not what I said.

do you think grocery stores leave out those free samples to feed the starving ppls?

what if you had to pay $100 to get a key to gain access to these (not so) free little pieces of diced cheese and what not?  would you ever sample the product?

i doubt it

Quote
Perhaps after eliminating all the illegal botnets and miners who are just mining for "free money" with no real interest, there might just be 2% of total miners now - but that's still better than the status quo. Total hash power has always been the important factor of Bitcoin mining, and it was designed to be intentionally highly competitive (and therefore just barely profitable).

your 1st sentence, i don't find any of it based in actual reality

2nd sentence, yes, total hash power matters to an extent.  with 1/100th as many people mining, a "51% attack" becomes more likely, rather than less likely, however

Oh, I mailed Gox support and had them cancel all my pending mtgox->dwolla transactions to get the money faster.

Hmm, didn't think of that. I'll email them and see what happens.
I had three pending... someone named 'Gene' responded within an hour.  =p

Now, if I had been complaining about the slowness... that'd probably take days to get a response
2580  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Parting out a 3x 5970 + 1 5870 Mining Rig on: July 09, 2012, 06:55:19 AM
i'll pay $250 /ea for the 5970's   (*for the 2 you have atm)

note:  this would be to turn them on ebay for ~$75 profit ea

I'd also offer $250 shipped per 5970, and $120 shipped per 5870 to 54501, USA. Little tight on funds right now though since mtgox is taking ages to transfer to dwolla. Won't immediately resell if it makes a difference, I plan on using them.

I'm leaning more toward selling to ssateneth, just because it means easier shipping for me. I'll PM you payment details in a couple hours if you're no one else outbids you.

That's fine.  I don't like buying stuff to resell on eBay, anyway.  If you stuck them up there with a $300 buy-it-now they'd sell within 12 hours, no problem... although with the fees you pay, that's only about $260.  I'd probably try 48 hours or so at $350 buy-it-now, then just start an auction with min bid of $300 if that fails.

But, like ssateneth, it'd take me a while to get the money together, since I just sent $250 to rjk.
