2561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Misconceptions about the upcoming ethereum merge on: September 03, 2022, 07:57:34 AM
As for the fees, it will be cheaper on average, and the network will be faster than the current one and more efficient.
I have been reading news even before and after I found this out, people are only getting the ethereum merge wrong. I was even surprised when I saw USCD company saying they will move 100% to ethereum blockchain after the merge, but I do not know if that news is absolutely true or not.

The merge is about redicing energy (electricity) usage by over 90%  as it moves from PoW to PoS, there is nothing about scalability for now, but said to pave way for scalability, but not in this upgrade.

People have been getting the upgrade wrongly right from time, like in December 2021, when they upgraded to ethereum 2.0, some people were expecting exactly low fee and scalability, but see what happened up till now.
2562  Economy / Gambling / Re: chinese bookmakers with tf gaming platform NO KYC on: September 03, 2022, 07:47:11 AM
More like, focusing in chinese people who resides outside china and the business is based outside china too. Coz if the platform is accepting crypto then they are subject to be seized by their government knowing china hate crypto. So focusing only to their locals and operating in the country doesn't make any sense.
Also, probably the team behind only knows chinese language making more sense.
That is true, China do not accept cryptocurrencies, it is illegal in China. But not only cryptocurrencies are not accepted in China, also gambling is also not accepted andbit is banned. It may be possible that gambling has been allowed in China in the past, I do not know, but gambling is no more acceptable in China and is banned. So what you are saying is right, the gambling site would only be targeting only the Chinese that are not residing in China, but it is very possible that some Chinese that are living in China to illegally use such gambling site.
2563  Economy / Gambling / Re: My list of good crypto casinos on: September 03, 2022, 07:39:31 AM
On this forum, in the gambling section, you can see quite good crypto casinos. Most of them run signature campaigns. So, their names can often be seen in the signatures of bitcointalk members. These casinos have proven themselves well and so far there have been no complaints about them. And, for many years. By what criteria your list was compiled, I don't know, but personally I have more confidence in the information on this forum. If the desire to gamble arises, I would rather choose a casino here than use your list. No offense.
That is true, most gambling casinos on this forum are trustworthy, they have proven themselves to be trustworthy, but there is one among them I still see not to be trustworthy because it has scammed some people on this forum before, the untrustworthy gambling site is 1xbit, that is why it is not a surprise that many trustworthy members have tagged the gambling official account, their official thread, the campaign thread and also the people that are participating in their campaign, but all other gambling sites that I have seen active on this forum are trustworthy except 1xbit.
2564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "The Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines" Is this a joke? on: September 02, 2022, 01:35:33 PM
I want to tell you that you can not engage in gambling without the knowledge of your children or your family, it's unstoppable and it's not something you can hide for long time, because your mood or feelings when you lose the money you are not suppose to lose with the improper explanation you will give to conver the money you lose will make your family know what you are into and what is bothering you as a gambler. I understand that gambling is something you will do on secret.
You are talking about addicted and those that are risking highly on gambling.

If I lose, I am good, if I win too, I am good. Nothing like depression or bad thinking all because I lose, that is because I use the amount of money that is very low enough that I can give someone and forget about in few days.

It depends, some people are gambling and yet their family may not know. But I do not see it wise at all, I will not like to keep anything for my wife, I can keep it from my children, but not my wife. If she knows her husband is not addicted and not affecting them financially (I mean to gamble in a responsible way), telling his husband to quit will never even come his mind, women do not just tell her husband that is gambling to quit, she would have been knowing that gambling is becoming something else on the life of here husband.

But in any way, I will always advice parents to keep it away from their children and education them on how people can be a victim of gambling addiction.
2565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Awareness of scam on social media will help reduce scam on: September 02, 2022, 09:52:11 AM
Social media will only harbor scammers and many people on the social media will be victims if scammers. To avoid scam, forum like bitcointalk can be helpful, but many people see forums to be boring.

Many people are scammed because of inexperience, that is true, but that shows how people have greedy nature. But some scam is as a result of fake online intimacy.
2566  Economy / Gambling / Re: My list of good crypto casinos on: September 02, 2022, 08:25:46 AM
You can add to your list the mBitcasino!

Just give it a try and will not be dissapointed.
Cheers!
I am surprised that you come to this forum after Mbit has been recently accused, if truly you are from Mbit, have you solved the accusation against you?

I need advice from experienced users of this forum

Also their is an old allegation against you in the past, check your red trust.

I will also advice people to be careful of your account, no one knows if truly you are working with Mbit, your account is new and can be for the purpose of scam.

About Mbit, they are not active on this forum, their are scam allegations against the gambling site, the best for any bitcointalk forum member is to avoid the site.
2567  Economy / Gambling / Re: I need advice from experienced users of this forum on: September 02, 2022, 08:11:29 AM
I definitely agree. When I first read about that CloudBet case, I was in disbelief too. But it seems to be true. It's a shame when some casinos take advantage of players by asking for extremely complicated KYC procedures. This can be interpreted as deliberate delay or even an intention to deny withdrawing money from the casino.
People should be careful of the gambling sites they are using, some are taking advantage of their users. I do not know why a gambling site do not make KYC complusoy for deposit, but requesting for KYC during withdrawal. I do not also know the reason a person that has been verified before would be blocked during withdrawal, saying the KYC is fake? Why not have said it before deposit. This world is somehow, such gambling sites are doing something wrong.

The victim should not relent if truly he did nothing wrong, he should talk to his lawyer about it, but if he did nothing wrong.

Furthermore using Skype for his KYC process seems very sketchy and I don't really know what to think of that.
Why did a gambling site makes Skype as a means of verification should be the question.
2568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: September 02, 2022, 07:56:17 AM
Manchester united improved but they are still playing below my expectation, their performance is not really good enough, let's use yesterday's match as an example, Manchester united played well in the first half of the match, but their performance was really poor before Ronaldo entered the match, the match changed again after Ronaldo entered the match in the second half, but they were unable to secure more goals, I believe if Manchester united should continue with this performance they won't go far this season, i dont think Manchester united will win their next match if they don't improve in their performance.
All I think about Manchester United is that they started this season poorly, they were defeatd even by clubs we did not expect, but they have started to play better after the second match and they have been winning, Premier League is never a small league, Leicester is not easy to win, but I expect more goals from Manchester United too. I am thinking that Manchester United is going far this season, but I am not expecting the club to win the league this seasonz but will go far.
2569  Economy / Economics / Re: Global inflation rate from 2017 to 2027(compared to previous year) on: September 02, 2022, 07:45:53 AM
There is always inflation because the money supply is constantly increasing. The money supply is constantly increasing because the government is always printing more money.
Do not get this wrong, their can be increase in money supply in a way no inflation will be seen in an economy, what causes inflation is government themselves, they do this to reduce foreign reserve depletion.

I am not saying that money printing can not cause inflation too, it can if the economy remain the same and not getting stronger. But other things also cause inflation, like increase in the price of food or anything in a country which can trigger inflation.

Let us also know that the government purposefully trigger inflation, but all because of a reason, to protect the reserved foreign currencies.

The government is always printing more money because it needs to pay for all of its spending and debt.
Which means this is true, but not only the cause of inflation. But if the money supply is increased, but with increasing economic output, inflation will not occurs.

Gold and silver better.
Cryptos are a risk asset, I wouldn't suggest investing more than 5% of your portfolio on it(if your purpose is investment). They aren't a counter measure to inflation.
[/quote]
Crypto is are risky assets, but bitcoin is better too, all you have to do is to invest at the right time when the market has significantly gone very low during bear market.
2570  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 02, 2022, 07:27:51 AM
I am a bit confused that they are actually going to release the MtGox coins on the same day that the scam coin (aka ethereum) is going to have its shitshow merge fork?  What could go wrong with that?
People are only giving themselves wrong information. There is nothing much special about the merge, or for now than reduction in the power (electricity) usage, but people think that gas fee will reduce, which is false. People also think that ethereum scalability issue is solved, but which is also not true.

I created a topic about this wrong information:

The Merge

Quote
Misconception: "The Merge will reduce gas fees."
False. The Merge is a change of consensus mechanism, not an expansion of network capacity, and will not result in lower gas fees.

Quote
Misconception: "Transactions will be noticeably faster after The Merge."
False. Though some slight changes exist, transaction speed will mostly remain the same on layer 1.

People may not know what the fork is all about, but when the merge was announced like a month ago, Ethereum price increased. I am thinking some people may want to use the means to invest in ethereum, but I am still seeing bitcoin to be more, more and more dominant for now irrespective of MtGox coin distribution.
2571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Disliked Bitcoin on: September 01, 2022, 08:49:01 AM
Instead of using dollar-pegged stable coins, why don't you just use the USD itself, it is probably the same thing, then i also do not trust most stable coins, and anybody who has done a bit of research into stable coins will know the reason why.
As long as people are making use of a stable coin, it can remain good, the only stable coin that I can not advice anyone to use are the algorithmic stable coins, they are the ones that are filling, fiat backed ones like USDT, USDC and TUSD are all not bad.

But you are not wrong, most stable coins can be frozen on noncustodial wallet, that is centralization.

If anyone can access USD directly, it is the best, rather than to depend on a coin that depends on USD and that can possibly fail, USD still has more certainty that it can not fail, unlike stable coins.
2572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "The Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines" Is this a joke? on: August 31, 2022, 10:05:17 AM
no offense but i think these people who're following some kind of guidelines r a ltl bit crazy lol
i mean what's the point? chance plays a big role here
Gambling is a game of chance, even if you use low amount of money to gamble, there are still chance that you may win or lose, but the reason this type of guildline is good is because even if you lose the money you use to gamble, you will not be thinking about it, it will not lead to depression, it will not affect your health, it will not financially affect you, it will not lead to addiction.
2573  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can One Actually Do Crypto Trading As A Living? on: August 31, 2022, 08:16:26 AM
When you plan to take it as a full time job then better you already know or master it to make it work profitable since the market is too risky and unstable, you must have capital or bigger capital before you start quitting job to use in trading. It will be better to diversify it but still having other business or sidelines to do like taking some online job incase trading individually won’t work. Maybe there are others who do trading alone for aliving but we should take consideration their skills and money capacity before we compare ourselves  to them or do what they do.
Trrading is risky, money used for trading can be gone in some minutes, hours or days. Having that type of mind to make it from trading doubles the pressure from the trader to risk more, the end result may be very bad.

If having large amount of money already, the person can think of other businesses that are not risky, that is the best to do, he can do trading with the other business which is not risky like trading.

Going for trading alone is what I can not advise, not good at all.
2574  Other / Meta / Re: Hello Forum Admn. Can you create a New Board : "Bitcoin Business & Networking" on: August 31, 2022, 07:47:55 AM
Admin will not just create a board, there should be many threads on other boards that is pertaining the board that you are requesting for, put the links to the threads on this thread. Even with that, I do not think admin want to create more boards for now. I do not know much about bitcoin networking if what you are saying is correct, but anything related to trading can be on trading discussion board.

Twice a week is a huge number if you have a family and a regular job that takes 5 days a week. If you devote time to your wife, children, work, household chores, then 2 days a week for gambling is a lot. Perhaps this is advice for family people?
Yes, it should be huge if having family. But you can have family and still bet on your mobile phone or personal computer even without your wife and children knowing. It depends on how and where you are gambling.

Even if you are not married, gambling in just 4 times monthly will be good, provided if you gamble with the amount you can lose and not think about or lead to depression, I mean the amount of money that is low to the extent that you can afford to lose it.
2576  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 30, 2022, 08:53:58 AM
I wouldn't blame Bitcoin for people not understanding it yet.
Blame digital, not bitcoin, many people can not go digital. Taking look at countries like El Salvador and many others, did you find it weired that over 80% are not having bank account. What if banks are only online? Lesser people will transact fiat online. Marketcap of bitcoin is still in hundreds of a billion dollar.
2577  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's The Actual Difference Between Cryptocurrency And Decentralized Finance on: August 30, 2022, 08:44:53 AM
  • Decentralized Finance: provide everything that a fiat financial organization provides without any centralized owner.
  • Cryptocurrency: It is a digital currency that is not governed by a centralized authority.
You are right, but those altcoins are not decentralized as people may think, example is the presale coins and some control the developers are having, that are altcoins, only bitcoin is more decentralized. Can you also see the stable coins like USDT and USDC that can be frozen by their developers, even if you are having the stable coins on a noncustodial wallet, it can still be frozen by the developers, that is also centralization in some ways.
2578  Economy / Economics / Re: Global inflation rate from 2017 to 2027(compared to previous year) on: August 30, 2022, 08:28:34 AM
Statista is giving predictions for inflation by year. They are based on what is called historical data, which is a fancy way of saying they looked at what has happened in the past. The predictions are made using a computer model that is made to predict what will happen in the future.

These predictions are not always accurate, because the future is impossible to predict with 100% accuracy. However, the World Bank's predictions are generally quite accurate, because they are based on data from the past. It's probably using world bank as it's source. I couldn't confirm it tho, there was a paywall lol
Thank you, I guess as much that it would be a prediction, that means the world bank is even predicting that there would be inflation every year, it is better to always not thinking of saving in fiat, saving in bitcoin or going for investment like gold and real estate is better.

Those are speculations by the website itself. Well, it looks encouraging if those are actually going into reality.
Possibly it will become reality, inflation has been what is happening to countries over time, the government always have no option that to cause fiat declination, but to what extent the inflation can be will only be what we may not know, but inflation will certainly occur.
2579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Justin Bons baseless criticisms on: August 29, 2022, 01:38:43 PM
Justin Bons tweeted that he had bitcoin node before and that he was once supporting bitcoin in the past. According to how I understood it, he started not to support bitcoin again because the block size was not increased, which lead to Bitcoin Cash. From what I see, he wished bitcoin to be centralized like altcoins, he wants bitcoin to have smart contract and continue to be modified in a way bitcoin would not be regarded as a commodity but a security.

He do not like how bitcoin is decentralized according to all what I read from his tweets.

You can read his whole tweet: https://twitter.com/Justin_Bons/status/1563912991015305216?s=20&t=CCW_pcC7QwXNogJDeKX1Mg

Is what he is tweeting worth it? No. Absolutely not worth it. Full of misleading information

Let me quote some of what he tweeted and see how he is wrong.

Quote
BTC is unique in that it is technically one of the worst cryptocurrencies
False

Quote
It has a broken long-term security model
False

Quote
It lacks capacity, programmability & composability
False

Quote
With comparatively weak economic qualities
False

Quote
BTC is, in fact, a purely speculative asset without utility
In short period of time? Yes
In long period of time? Wrong

If you hold bitcoin for a long time like 4 years, it is a store of value and a hedge against inflation. In short time period, it is a speculative asset. Does that makes bitcoin bad? No.

Quote
Not increasing the blocksize limit represented a major departure from the original vision & purpose of Bitcoin

Leading us down this path
Leading us to where please? But Bitcoin Cash forked from bitcoin, where is Bitcoin Cash today.

Quote
Where BTCs value proposition is no longer based on utility due to the limits on capacity
False

I am expecting any country that adopt bitcoin as a legal tender not to accept centralized coins, which is what is happening. El Salvador, CAR and an island in Honduras all accepted bitcoin as legal tender, why not your altcoins? Is there any platforms that cyyptocurrencies are accepted that bitcoin is not the first among them? Yet bitcoin remain number 1. There is more to this, definitely all the quotes are wrong, he just want to mislead people.

Quote
BTCs security now also requires TX fees to grow exponentially larger or network security will fail
This is rubbish, no sense in this.

Quote
The most realistic way to avoid such a catastrophic failure is to increase inflation
If bitcoin fails, all (centralized) coins and tokens would fail, which means all would fail, and bitcoin would be the last to fail. One of the purposes of bitcoin is to be a hedge against inflation and as an investment.

Quote
The world has also moved on & progressed
I remember it used to be said that BTC would just adopt the best technologies
This thesis has obviously completely failed
As BTC has no smart contracts, privacy tech, or scaling breakthroughs
To just mention a few shortcomings
Yet bitcoin remain the number one in market capitalization with 40% dominance.

Quote
BTCs economic qualities are also incredibly weak
With an uncertain limited supply
BTC is competing with cryptocurrencies that can achieve negative inflation
Due to fee burning, high capacity & high utility
Such as ETH post-merge & alternatives such as AVAX, NEAR & EGLD
Yet bitcoin supply remain 21 million, no pre-mined coins like the centralized altcoins. People had proposed burning of bitcoin supply, but not welcomed and won't be welcomed by the bitcoin community. Because some bitcoin is not burned does not make bitcoin not to be deflationary, bitcoin is deflationary.

Quote
BTC has become a purely speculative asset
People, for the most part, only invest in BTC because they believe the price will go up
Operating on the same modus operandi as a Ponzi scheme investor
All contrary to fundamental reasons of revenue, utility & use case analysis
All I felt is emotional baseless critism, bitcoin is not ponzi is what that fit the reply here. Is there any cryptocurrency that is not highly volatile than bitcoin? Altcoins are more and most volatile. All the cryptocurrencies move in the same direction which is the direction that bitcoin is moving to.

Quote
My original 2013 thesis for investing in BTC was destroyed by the very people we trusted to maintain it
There also laid the problem
I believe in the end, what we witnessed was a failure of governance
You only want your wish, not the wish of the community, I have mentioned that already, you unconsciously want centralization, but what bitcoin community did not give.
2580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's The Actual Difference Between Cryptocurrency And Decentralized Finance on: August 28, 2022, 01:26:27 PM
Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that is using blockchain technology for transactions.

DeFi (decentralized financial) is a modern financial technology which is using a distributed ledger, the main purpose is that DeFi is what CeFi that requires intermediary can not provide, DeFi work in a way that intermediaries like bank and other institutions are not needed in a way there is no central control of a product or service.

DeFi is making use of peer-to-peer technology for a product or service, no intermediary needed.
