2562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I buy tokens with credit card? on: August 19, 2019, 03:53:29 PM
Hey! Can you tell me if I can buy crypto with credit card? Is it a good idea and what services I can use. I know about changelly, but I want to know if there are the other services, compare them and pick the one I like

You can buy crypto on Poloniex with credit card.  You can originally buy only Bitcoin, but after you have BTC you can change it to other coins. If coin you want is not on poloniex just move our BTC there.
2563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Governments against privacy-oriented cryptocurrencies on: August 18, 2019, 08:05:26 PM
Imagine if you were a Landlord and the agreement with your tenants is that they will pay you 10% of their earnings, and then suddenly a new method is introduced that would enable them hide their earnings from you, would you like that new system or would you kick against it? That is the exact same thing happening between Governments and Privacy Coins.

Landlord and you can simply change the way how you determinate your rent.  It is simple. If cryptocurrency is useful for landlord to use and for you to use you will not decide to not use it simply because you had set rent that way.

Why are you guys discussing a coin other than POTCoin?

I want to talk POT as a hodler, but ...

I also contributed to github, as found bugs in code by compiling wallet on linux

But ...Development lost github password or what?

So lets all grow up together and do something for POTcoin bright future. Marketing is profitable short term and real development is for long, right?

Hey The Dreamer, thank you for your help.  Contact josh in the city on the potcoin telegram.  He should be able to help.

LOL I dont think anyone can help with that. You cant force people to be active.
2565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 18, 2019, 03:41:11 PM
Think it is over for Monero at this point.  BTC ratio is getting weaker and doesn't show signs of a rebound.  XMR volume remains low compared to eth and btc and still hasn't gained any notable adoption rate.  Time to pack it up boys and head for greener pastures.  Was a good ride while it lasted.

I agree. Monero had now become only a fashion brand.

2566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Prices of Bitcoin and Altcoin are down now ...? on: August 18, 2019, 02:46:58 PM
hi My friend noticed that in the last few weeks both the price of bitcoin and altcoin bled, is there anyone who can give me good advice for buying and trading that is good and safe. because I heard a few months ago that the Binance exchange was at the restat, now is it safe if I return to trade there, because I have also traded a long time in binance, so I was on vacation to trade there, because at that time Binance was at the restat. Thank you and I appreciate all the answers.

There is no good and safe trading advice. Perfect time to buy was half year ago. Then price was increasing for 5 months and now is more or less stable. It is hard to expect that price would keep increasing. It is also hard to expect that would decrease much unless recession will hit us early.  If you need to buy, then buy slowly. Buy some each month. That way you it dont matters to you if right now price is super expensive.
2567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of Ethereum forks on: August 17, 2019, 11:18:36 PM
I did not know that there are so many ETH forks, but lets face the reality. 90 percent of them are just useless, after the fork people quickly sold a new coin and moved forward, the only coin that is still alive is ETC.

Really?  So many. I am surprised there are only this many. I understand that some are not on cmc and skipped, but i still expected many many more that are on cmc.
2568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DASH Collapsing Monero UP on: August 17, 2019, 09:45:28 PM
You gotta give it credit though, its a slow, albeit inevitable death. Cheesy

Its funny to see the "news" coming from a failing centralized (high level of "masternode" control from instamine beneficiaries) blockchain whose only innovation is cutting/pasting features from Bitcoin (PrivateSend from CoinJoin, Chainlocks from Checkpoints etc, etc) and rebranding them

https://www.coindesk.com/despite-ceo-claims-dash-isnt-really-the-most-used-crypto-in-venezuela

The inevitable death is nearing. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

current DASH/XMR ratio is 1.16 and falling

Only DASH that is used in Venezuela is the one they wash their laundry with. It seemed to me that was wide known. No need for silly articles about it.
2569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Justin Sun Claims to Create a Better Blockchain World on: August 17, 2019, 09:20:59 PM
Founder of Tron Justin Sun tweeted saying, All he wants is to create a better Blockchain world. He also asked users what’s the next Dapp you would want to see in the future?

What's your take on this?

My take is that he should do step by step. First he should go to a dinner he was promoting so much. Blockhain world can wait.
2570  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Question about Bittrex Exchange on: August 16, 2019, 08:33:21 PM
I have a bittrex account created few years ago. I just opened it yesterday after a year and I found out that I still have 0.014 btc there. I want to withdraw it but my account was disabled for some reason and it asks me to complete identity verification.

Now the problem is I didn't use my real name when I created that account and it's not allowed to change it. Will I succeed in identity verification if I submit an ID and selfie even if my profile info is not the same on the ID?

It's really a waste for a 0.014 btc or $150 just to be stuck on there.

You should not play with it. It is not worth. There are high charges for forging identity. Just forget about that account and move on.
Having an account registered under the name of "Snus Sweden" before KYC was really a thing or required really does not constitute identity forging later on when KYC is required. That'd really be a reach.

If I remember right, first you had to give only your email you hold. That was first level. Then you were asked to put in your name and that was second level.   You were asked to put in your name. Not someones else or imaginary one. Your name.  If they did not wanted your real name they would not ask for it and would be happy with a email where they can contact you.

I might have mixed bittrex with poloniex. I had and have accounts on both exchanges and I remember on one I was asked to put name.
2571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Poloniex Delisting 23 Trading Pairs, Whats The Effect? on: August 16, 2019, 07:58:24 PM
According to a report, Poloniex is planning to delist 23 trading pairs on Aug. 16.

You can see the full story here: https://www.cryptoinformers.info/news/10353-poloniex-to-delist-23-trading-pairs-due-to-low-volume

Do you think this will have any negative impact on those coins?

It is delisting Monero, Ethereum and tether pairs. Pairs with coins that had low volume. IT is no change for any coin involved. Since all those coins have at least pair with Bitcoin if not more.  Poloniex is foloving their plan from 3 years ago to become elite exchange with 50 pairs.
2572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero Faces Extended Pullback on: August 16, 2019, 07:20:00 PM
Monero Faces Extended Pullback

Monero faced pullback at end of June, from that time it tightly holds Bitcoin. So whatever Bitcoin does also Monero does. You can see that on CMC https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/

This is a comment from the author of this article. Perhaps this is FUD that has made XMR plummeted in the past day.
"Cybersecurity firm Varonis has discovered a new encryption virus to exploit the Monero cryptocurrency (XMR), potentially avoiding detection.

Named "Norman", one of its key features is closing the cryptocurrency mining process in response to users opening Task Manager. "

Why would a Microsoft vulnerability and we know for decades that they cant make proper OS, influence Monero price?  They have to fix it so computers that run windows cant be hijacked. Such news should influence Microsoft share price. But no one really cares about that.
2573  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong Activist Leader Calls For A Run On Chinese Banks Tomorrow (Friday) on: August 16, 2019, 06:09:47 PM
Quote
Prominent Hong Kong pro-independence political activist Chen Haotian has called for a run on Chinese banks, asking that everyone withdraw their money on the same day.

Arguing that large scale protests have only led to injuries and escalating police brutality, Haotian believes another method could be used to severely undermine China’s influence – a good old fashioned run on the bank.

He suggested that another method could be used, namely, impacting the financial system,” reports China Press.

“He called on Friday (August 16) that Hong Kong citizens take out all bank deposits. The primary goal is Chinese banks, but he said other banks should also be targeted, otherwise Chinese banks can borrow money from other banks to solve problems.”

Hong Kong has been rocked by weeks of violent protests by pro-independence campaigners. Earlier this week, riot police stormed Hong Kong International Airport to clear them out.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-08-15/hong-kong-activist-leader-calls-run-bank

I'm telling you, the Hong Kong drama is getting worst by the day, withdraw all their money and then go to BTC and leverage their wealth, I think that's the best option for them.  Grin

Seriously, I don't know if this is going to be a good method to force the Chinese government to have an effective solution to their domestic problems. China would bulge an inch we all know that, and the only victims here are the common and casual people inside Hong Kong.

Banks hold very little cash.  If people would do this in any country they would tell them to come back next day after 10 minutes of withdrawals. Money people have in banks exist only as a number on a ledger.  What they could really do is to deposit it to an exchange and buy bitcoin. that would make sense. But that will not happen.

What will happen is that world will lose two financial metropolis in few years time and funny is that not because of Bitcoin.   Hong Kong and London will both lost its place as a financial metropolis in only few years time .
2574  Economy / Speculation / Re: What makes Bitcoin price fluatuates throughout 2019 on: August 16, 2019, 06:04:20 PM
The price of BTC is fluctuated mostly by the multi-level Ponzi systems. In early 2019, the Ponzi projects appeared like garbage and it also partly affected the price of BTC to fly up from 3k to 14k.

Ponzi schemes exist more then 100 years. I dont know what are you talking about of early 2019.  Just google the term to learn more.
2575  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell me how to invest on: August 15, 2019, 03:50:39 PM
Hi all,

Looking to invest $1000 in cryptocurrency. Could you tell me your suggestions about which cryptocurrency to invest in and what % ?

I was thinking maybe 50% bitcoin, and 5-10% in many other cryptocurrencies like XRP, Ethereum, Stellar, Cardano, etc.

Cheers

Buy Bitcoin, but first spend time to understand what Bitcoin is and how to secure your coins properly. If you buy coins that will be worth a million USD 10 years from now it will not help you a bit if someone will steal them from you.

Illegal activities is giving cryptocurrencies a bad image

Anything illegal gives a bad image to anything, so why not an innovation. Difference is that new things have more room for illegal activities then some old things. There was way more crime on Wild west 150 years ago as on today's west. At least in % of population. Things needs time to mature. But crime had never stop an innovation.

Shit its all just a river of red, why did I look? Grin

Yup. So much for a recession to be good for crypto. We will first see a real mess. It will be interesting year to come. I hope everyone have a hobby to not look at charts to much.
2580  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC halving , what to expect? on: August 15, 2019, 01:18:42 PM
every halfing is happen the price is always grow up and it is so good time to sell.
look how LTC is grow so fast when it got some halfing.
i believe in 2020 when BTC is halfing, it will be a masterpice of cryptocurrency.
i believe with that.

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-hashrate.html#3m

What happened was that hash rate decreased for 20%.  Miners got half less coins so some of them stopped mining.  Halving can influence on two way, not just a price increase.
