2581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to generate Bitcoin Address? on: March 09, 2014, 04:07:25 PM
Code:
importprivkey yourPrivateKey

Code:
walletpassphrase \"yourPassPhrase\" ###

I tried out the commands, it works great.
It is true that QT acts a little weird (lock up) while it is scanning the block train, but once it is done, is everything fine and dandy.
Thanks again Danny.
2582  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to generate key pair for encryption/decryption AES-128 in a simple way on: March 09, 2014, 03:09:20 PM
I found a solution, topic is closed.
2583  Bitcoin / Project Development / How to generate key pair for encryption/decryption AES-128 in a simple way on: March 05, 2014, 09:57:44 AM
NIST defines a set of example vectors in the AES standard.
http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/fips/fips197/fips-197.pdf

page 35:

The key used for the AES-128 encryption are:
000102030405060708090a0b0c0d0e0f

Later in the algorithm (in round 10) is the decryption key derived:
13111d7fe3944a17f307a78b4d2b30c5

This key is of cause needed to decrypt the message.

How do you in a simple way generate this key set?
Typically (in an application) the user will input a password, which will be converted into the encryption key.
How do decryption application generate the decryption key based on the encryption key?

In other words: if you know the key 000102030405060708090a0b0c0d0e0f, how do you calculate the key 13111d7fe3944a17f307a78b4d2b30c5.

Any help is much appropriated!
(this project is for academic use)
2584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to generate Bitcoin Address? on: March 04, 2014, 04:03:46 PM
Thank you so much DannyHamilton.

I was not aware that QT can do that.
That is really awesome, because QT is really my favorite wallet.
I will try do a few test with importing a private key with a small balance.
I assume that the key will be added to wallet.dat, once imported right?

I have tried importing private keys with blockchain.info/wallet, its pretty cool, you can also use a webcam to read QR code (If I remember correctly).
I have also tried importing private key through mtgox last year, it worked pretty well too.
But I have super paranoia when it comes to only online wallets when handling more that a few santoshi, so QT is ideal for me.

I would like to send you a small tip for your detailed explanation, what is your tip adr. ?
2585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to generate Bitcoin Address? on: March 04, 2014, 10:58:24 AM
What options are there to redeem the balance associated to a private key?

I use primarily bitcoin-QT wallet, but I don't believe that QT can import private keys?

The only other "offline" solutions that I have found (and is comfortable with) is Mycelium.

If we exclude the online wallets solutions, what applications can you recommend?

Trying to unlock for block 5000 can no one help?

Go to debug window, console tab. type: walletpassphrase <yourwalletpassword> 9999999 true

Awesome thanks. My wallet is now unlocked however it still says 'stake miner suspended due to locked wallet', hopefully it starts working at 5000

No problem. The suspended message should clear shortly.

Actually, hmm...not sure why that 'minting suspended' message isn't going away after unlocking. Maybe just a bug. But if anyone knows of a further step, please advise.

Mine went away after restarting the wallet.

No premine, wallet works fine, pool up running, already on multiple exchanges... and it's black.

I'm in!

2600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to bitcoin is buying from MTGOX too big a risk? on: February 15, 2014, 09:14:47 PM
Hi all I know I'm very late to the party but if I don't get in now I may never do it. I'm about to spend about £650 / $1000 on bit coin and see that the prices at MTGOX are a lot lower due to their current issues. Do you think it's worth purchasing my first coins from them or pay the higher price from say Bitstamp or another trader. Any tips are welcome as this is all currently new to me but I'm keen to learn more about it.

If you are located in Scandinavia (or EU), then can I recommend bitcoin nordic:
https://bitcoinnordic.com/

I have made many trades with them (both redraw and deposits), very smooth, I had no problem with them so far.
They have always processed my order within 24 hours on working days.
