It's about time XC releases some exciting news, I'd say. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) The chance to get a TOR Stick before anyone else isn't exciting? ["No," RW-Stott might reply, "the undisclosed Rev 2 privacy feature is exciting."] ;-) ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) it could also be some real world adoption type news. What ever happened to our two guys from the XC foundation? What are they doing? We haven't heard from them since that one day they were introduced... Indeed. Let's just say we almost always wait until something is real before announcing it. But stay tuned for the XC Daily Update later today.

the final XChat needs some sort of notification (maybe color change or small icon) when a message is received/read.
It definitely will have notifications. That is great, but have another request/question for the XChat, do we really need the address and the public key as destination? After all, its not called a public key for nothing I've wondered about this myself. The address is just a hash of the public key after all. I'll get back to you on that one... no doubt there's a good reason for it. Think its not needed, added your XChat address to my addressbook and can copy your Public Key from there. If it's that simple am sure the new interface will do it automagically That's my guess. Also we should be able to use compressed addresses. That'll make things a little friendlier as well.

If a user is unable to fit their Xchat info into their sig space for member rank reasons, would this prevent eligibility for the tor stick contest?
No. But that would be surprising. Surprise! I can't fit it in my sig space :/. But thanks for the reply ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Ha ha. Perhaps just write "XChat: [address] PM for pubkey" then.

It definitely will have notifications. and skinning/themes UI? I'm not really sure at the moment. I don't see why not. Though when XC goes mobile the "skinning" paradigm will be replaced with colour themes/whatever mobile OSes support in terms of customisation.

i just realised i need to register in xctalk to participate. i registered but it says members needs to be reviewed or something, how long does it take, i don't want to miss the promotion.
Teka will approve you. Funny... I thought they'd disabled moderation. There must've been a problem with spam. The competition runs for 24 hours though.

***Win an XC TOR Stick signed by Dan Metcalf!***
Here's your chance to win the industry-leading privacy tool signed by its incredible developer! ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FD57dl0F.jpg&t=663&c=MVSUnWxDwTlYUQ) How to win:When the XC Bitcointalk thread reaches page 1000, do the following: 1) Use XChat to send a message to: Address: XDzTA6xMsx1FJkitgKaj3S9mMvPQEzN4w9 Public key: eRyb6fBBZxfkVp1kLcgc81WQuZw8pgpPwkVfKNhJBHBC (If you don't have XChat yet, download it here.) 2) Post the address you sent the message from onto the Official XC Forum here. 3) Put your XChat address and public key into your Bitcointalk signature. Since XChat is not yet released for Mac and Linux, users can alternatively send a micropayment to the address above, and then post their sending address on the Official XC Forum as described.
The competition will run for 24 hours from the time of the first post on page 1000.
The winner will be decided upon by a suitably random method. If needs be, a video or other means of proof will be posted to establish the randomness of the selection.
The signed TOR Stick will be shipped to the winner at the earliest possible date. This may be in advance of TOR Sticks being shipped to the general public.

So what's left to complete ReV2.5? is it just the undisclosed privacy feature?
Morning Leigh! The undisclosed privacy feature is what's left to finalise the Rev 2 phase of development. For Rev 2.5, basically XChat will become as user-friendly as it needs to be if it's going to hit the mainstream. So Rev 2.5 will start with a preview of the new UI and build from there.

Hello Newbie here,
My wallet is synced and has 62 connections. There are very long periods where my "Weight" does not move. The day of expected award sometime increases. Is this normal?
Thanks
Yup :-) If you want more regular stake payouts, use coin control to send coins to different addresses, 50 - 500 coins per address. A guide on how to do this is here. I thought you were going to sleep? ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Getting there :-/

Is there any documentation avail yet on how to use the XChat feature? Sorry if already asked, I could not find.
1. On the "Receive Coins" tab, create a new address and label it "Chat" or something. 2. Copy your address and paste it into the "from" field on the "Messages" tab (use the "paste" icon to the right of the field). 3. Copy someone's address and paste it into the "to" field (use the icon again). 4. Copy someone's public key and paste it into the "key" field. 5. Write a message. P.S. Fully unlock your app before doing all this. Awesome, thank you brother! How does one get their own public chat key? In the "Receive Coins" tab, right-click on the address you create.

PM me if you have any issues.
Best of luck in the competition!

Can I just download the new wallet and it will automatically update? Or should I move my coins, delete the old one and then download the new one.
I'm not that tech illiterate, I just want to be careful...I have enough coins that I would like to be over cautious...
You should always maintain a backup of both your wallet.dat and your private keys. Instructions are here. This way, you can just download and run new updates without worrying. In addition, whenever you make a payment you should use coin control to specify an address for change to be sent to. Otherwise a change address will be created and you'll then have to back it up too. Interesting last point, assume the XC qt also has a key pool of 100. But xnode usage will start using more change addresses before you know it. Especially with many small transactions. Eg. Running an xnode requires special backup considerations. I go start mine with a large --keypool parameters before next backup to be sure Indeed. Once people start using private transactions there'll be a lot of change floating about. I've suggested that future wallets (i.e. when the new UI comes out) automatically return change to the sending address unless specified. If this isn't implemented then something sensible will be.

Hey man........I could be wrong, but this may be breaking this forum's new "giveaway" rules for which they are currently banning people for doing. I think that having people post their addresses here may get us into trouble.
People post their addresses on the official forum, not on Bitcointalk. :-)
