2581  Economy / Economics / Re: WHY ITS SO POSITIVE THIS BEARMARKET. on: June 23, 2022, 06:56:30 PM
It is good that you have found reasons to stay positive and console yourself in these times, not many can do so and choose to see the positive even when their current situation is not going well. I particularly like this
1-   We need to clean of the market all the shitcoins.
It is true that there are many shitcoins currently in the market and not many will survive the bear market, but what is the assurance that more shitcoins will not just spring up again when the market becomes normal again?
2582  Economy / Economics / Re: How Will Investing Help the Economy of a Country on: June 23, 2022, 04:31:15 PM
But I really can't tell how thus Investing in The Economy will help one's Country.
I will give an answer to this question based on a general sense and not just crypto investment. If you consider what most investment companies do with your investment, you get to find out that, after you make an investment, the money you invested is mostly used for business to make profit. When you make an investment, the money you invested is used to set things in motion, start a business or boost a business and that mostly is beneficial to the economy as others will benefit in the form of say employment opportunities, sales opportunity for vendors e.t.c and in general keeps money in circulation. Try to imagine an economy where no one is investing, things will barely be moving, business will collapse and good ideas that people who lack finance have will never see the light of day. So in general investment is good for the economy of the country.
2583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iranian Government To Cut Power To Country's Legal Crypto Mining Platforms on: June 22, 2022, 09:26:46 PM
According to a report by Bloomberg, there will be 118 legal crypto mining centers that will be banned from energy from next June 22,
If I properly understood the article, it says the government will cut supply of electricity to mining platforms, but it doesn't say that it will stop their activity. What this means to me is that the decision to continue will now depend on the miners. To continue their activities will mean that they may have to seek alternative sources of power, but if they can't, they will have to wait out the ban on supply of electricity to them which I think is a very unlikely choice. This is a setback that may reduce the number of miners in Iran, but it will not completely and immediately stop the activities of miners there especially the very determined ones.

Accommodating 118 crypto mining platforms when some countries are still chasing miners around can be tasking, the government is going through a hard time, burdened with energy concerns, they are seeking ways to relieve themselves a bit, and temporarily this may just be it.
2584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Over-Speeding Kills, Always Slow Down When Driving A Car on: June 22, 2022, 08:12:35 PM
Dont always be in a haste when making crypto transactions
The importance of this cannot be overstated for both newbies and oldies in the game, for some this kind of mistake may cost them their life savings which is terrible and should be avoided at all cost. Unlike the traditional banks where you can recall a wrong transaction or get the name/contact details of the user you mistakenly sent fiat to, crypto doesn't provide such options. Apart from avoiding making hasty crypto transactions, you also need to try to be in a proper frame of mind when making transactions as well, avoid divided attention and be sure to always double check before confirming transaction.

In addition to avoid mistakes, if you do transactions with someone you know often (p2p), always tell them to resend their address and not assume that it is the one you think it is or the one you saved, that assumption can be costly.
2585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wechat tag violation rule on cryptocurrency accounts on: June 22, 2022, 05:12:59 PM
Wechat can't make decisions here, they can just follow orders.
Exactly, regardless of the opinion of the owners of WeCHAT, they are bound to whatever the government decides if they must continue to function. And judging that they are the biggest  and most popular chinese social media platform, they will be the first the government turns their eye to before other Chinese social platforms like Weibo, Little Red Book, Douyin, Kuaishou etc The management of Wechat will certainly not be happy closing accounts of their users. The question i have to ask is, since we know the Chinese government can be thorough when they need to, can their actions be sufficient to completely discourage use of crypto in the country?
2586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government Owned Online Casinos What Do You Think Of Its Potential on: June 22, 2022, 04:32:30 PM
What do you think if these countries or cities that totally depends on their casino for their revenue to keep the economy floating launch their own online casinos, there are already online casinos based in Macau or a country where land casinos are government-owned but it's privately funded what I mean is government-owned.
Anything government owned most times to an extent lacks proper management when compared to facilities managed by private individuals. For private individuals, they ensure that the customer experience is top notch so may go an extra mile to satisfy user experience while generating income. But if government owned, their primary objective will be to generate income and may not necessarily care much about user experience, customer reports may not be quickly attended to because there is no public face to save, hence government owned casinos may not be able to attract enough customers and this may result in reduced revenue or fluctuating revenue.

To ensure that the amount they receive from these casinos are fixed, it is best to play the regulatory role and collect fixed sums as revenue, rather than dabbling in the business itself.
2587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on transgender only events? on: June 22, 2022, 09:27:10 AM
People argue about their physical advantage over biological women and called for changes like having a different category.
Not all transgenders have an advantage over biological women, regardless to eliminate ambiguity, a separate category should be created for athletes in that category to avoid a situation where a man who who is not doing well in the male category deciding to seek better opportunities as a trans in the female category. A new category will create new audience, and new channels for betting sites and gambling casinos to make profit. I may not immediately bet on their games, but certainly there are persons who will, and maybe with time, as they gain acceptance, others like myself may try betting on their games.
2588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History is always on the side of innovation(bitcoin), not the side of skeptics on: June 21, 2022, 10:25:12 PM
Also with your logic that Bitcoin is destined to succeed simply because its innovation,
I agree that this logic is simply not just enough to offer assurance, there should be something more. Kudos OP, although you have offered hope to many here with your comparison of the innovations of the bicycle and the dotcom bubble, but just as pointed out, how about those ideas that were called innovations, went through this phase, but never made it through? We have to anchor the survival of bitcoin to something more than just analysis. The structures that are in place already as regards bitcoins ensures that it doesn't just cease to exist.
2589  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: June 21, 2022, 09:37:50 PM
Sometimes i wonder if we have become completely inure to suffering, or if we have fallen in love with our 'oppressors'...
Unfortunately, our oppressors have conditioned most Nigerians into being okay with their suffering and not seeing any need to try to become better. Because many have tried and failed, many people have lost all hopes as regards the redemption of this country and do not see any possibility of it being better, hence they just want to survive and if possibly join the band wagon of criminals to secure their own portion of the national cake.

The matter tire me well well. I no know wetin to call am, whether na out of selfishness or ignorance make people still deh support Tinubu to rule us as them deh see how frail and senile weh the man deh look.
Everybody finally get e right to support any candidate of e choice, whether e dey old or young. The thing wey we dey hope na say make everybody fit get PVC, make people go vote that day, and make their vote count without rigging.

I met someone who said his own motivation for getting his PVC is that he is tired of seeing old names in our electoral party system, plus in his opinion PDP & APC dun try reach, at least make another person and party enter there. I hope say we fit sustain the energy till the election go reach, because anybody we vote nai go dey for 8years.
2590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El-salvador bitcoin investment is underwater on: June 21, 2022, 09:00:04 PM
The country's Bitcoin investment is underwater.
I believe that was is meant by under the water in investment is when the value of something purchased becomes lesser than when you bought it. If this is the case, there is no need singling out El Salvador to criticize their investment in bitcoin with that idiomatic expression, when in fact the current situation is not a case peculiar to them but affecting everyone who has invested in bitcoins. Although no one could have accurately predicted bitcoins to get to the low price it is at currently, the Analyst(s) who the El Salvadorian president may have consulted with prior to the decision to adopt bitcoins must have indicated that there is a possibility of this current market situation.

On the positive sides of things, if El Salvador can survive these times, I don't see another situation threatening their bitcoin adoption that they can't survive.
2591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KSA Initiates Slot Arcades Investigation as Role Model Ad Ban Looms on: June 21, 2022, 05:19:42 PM
Today I read in the news that the Dutch Gambling Authority, has prohibited the use of role models in gambling ads.
This is a good,  the status of these celebrities that many idolise should not be exploited by these casino's to promote their businesses. The money offered to some of the role models by these casino's is difficult to turn down, because even your role models need money. Some of these celebrities and role models may not even actually themselves be involved in gambling, but because of their status, people who look up to them may be enticed to use the services of a casino because it was endorsed by their role model.

In my country, a popular legendary footballer was made to dance for an advert for a gambling site, it was a very hilarious advertisement considering the status of this role model, but you can imagine the amount of money he was offered to do such. This is exactly what i mean by casino's and gambling platforms exploiting the popularity of a celebrity/role model.

Does self-exclusion actually work?
It can actually work if after signing up for self exclusion, join a help group for people who signed up for exclusion as well. Together with others in a group, you can do better than trying to stay disciplined on your own.
2592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Macau's Casino Operation Continues Despite The Latest Outbreak on: June 21, 2022, 11:57:43 AM
Do you think the government of Macau made the right decision or they are very desperate not to shut down the casino operations because they need their economy going.
It is true that the economy in Macau is heavily dependent on the revenue generated from casino's and their operations, regardless of how controversial it may seem to keep them running even with the increased outbreak is a hard decision that they must take if they must keep their revenue coming in. Also considering the fact that since casino is a big thing over there, many of their citizens must heavily depend on them for relaxation and recreation asides gambling. The government must have recognized how essential offline casinos are integral to the joy of their citizen and are just looking to keep them happy. Happy and ill people get better quicker than the bored, sad and ill.
2593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Glimpse on Ireland's First Ever Gambling Regulation Bill on: June 20, 2022, 04:10:46 PM
If you are living in Ireland you should have known that Ireland Is About to Introduce Its First-Ever Gambling Regulation Bill.  This has been drafted and created due to the alarming number of citizens getting addicted to gambling.
Apart from the monetary gain the government stands to get from this, It is a good thing that the government in Ireland are taking into consideration the welfare its citizens. The estimated population in Ireland puts them at just about five million people in the country. It will be devastating even to the country if more than half of its entire population old and young become problem gamblers. Problem gambling can prompt many criminal behaviors especially in minors. In addition to the regulation they are about putting in place, the government can also look into establishing rehabilitation centers for those who are already problem gamblers, especially the minors.

Hopefully other countries should emulate this strategy as well to ensure that they tackle the issues of minors involved in gambling and to enforce responsible gambling in adults as well.
2594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins Crossed 20k USD!! Don’t lose hope now. on: June 20, 2022, 03:20:20 PM
Yesterday Bitcoins were at 17k USD and now currently it has crossed 20k USD.
The 17k price that bitcoin was at presented one of the best opportunities we have seen in years for people to join the market and for others to buy more. Although many may not have seen it as such, an opportunity i mean, they may never be such an opportunity again. It is good news at the moment for all those who bought at 17k, if the price continues to go up, for those who panicked and sold or didn't buy, regrets may soon follow as the prices gets better. There is a lesson for everyone to learn.

2595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 19, 2022, 05:27:10 PM
Chelsea haven’t done anything as yet because of the take over
There are rumours of Chelsea making moves for Sterling from Manchester city regardless of the one year left on his deal. Many Chelsea supporters don't consider this to be a good move as they don't consider Sterling to be worth the transfer fee of £60m demanded by City,  and furthermore not a good option for them considering the calibre of attackers that the other top teams in the EPL have signed. what do you think?
2596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deriving pleasure in gambling even while losing. on: June 19, 2022, 11:48:10 AM
...could this be a psychological related issues or is just a normal thing?
It is normal character that is common to compulsive gamblers, the HOPE to someday win big is reassuring for them. The pleasure comes from the high expectations that they have which is usually bolstered by other peoples testimonials of winning. It has become really bad for some that they have now attributed winning to just luck regardless of strategy, hence try to gamble as much as they can in the hope that luck smiles on them some day.
2597  Economy / Trading Discussion / Do real traders care about bear & bull market? on: June 18, 2022, 06:31:38 PM
I came across a trader today who mentioned that he hasn't stopped trading even in this period where almost everyone, trader and hodler is trying playing it safe. In our little conversation, one of the statement he used that has stuck to memory and has kept me wondering if I was making the right decision this period playing it safe and not trading was "Real traders don't care about bear or bull market, during times like this is when real traders survive", he also highlighted that a good day trading strategy can still make you profit this season.

-Do you consider this trader correct?

-Is anyone here still trading actively? if yes, what has your strategy been?
2598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Matched Betting an In-depth Explanation on: June 18, 2022, 06:04:10 PM
Thanks for taking out time to make an in-depth explanation of Matched betting. It is a term that I have just come across, and I'm wondering, since it is legal and assures winning so far one is careful to check against errors/mistakes when betting, why are most persons not just ''match betting'' which assures winning instead of playing regular bets. Can matched betting be depended on as a reliable source of income if one devotes time and resources to mastering the strategy?
2599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you realize that you are an economist without a degree? on: June 17, 2022, 07:25:28 PM
The so called fin-fluencers likely consider themselves crypto-economists without a degree …
Although there will still be some aspects to economics that only those who actually have a degree may know, the internet has made it possible for everyone to learn and know the basics. Formerly knowledge was not accessible to everyone, so there was a limit to what you could know, situations are not the same at the moment, with a simple search option, limitless knowledge is now available to anyone who seeks them. This is why there can be individuals who have good knowledge about a field, just as OP describes without any form of certification.

Talking about economics in particular, it has been a difficult economic situation for many. To be able to survive this season, everyone has had to pick up some form of economic skill and learn practically to become economist. This is the current reality of things.
2600  Economy / Speculation / Re: WHAT EVENT DO YOU THINK WILL USHER BTC INTO THE NEXT BULLRUN? on: June 17, 2022, 05:56:13 PM
2. What major event do you think will usher BTC and the entire industry into the next bullrun?
Adoption & Recommendation can work the magic. What is basically affecting the price at the moment is that there is massive panic and a reduced confidence from investors in bitcoin. The price has stayed too low for too long for some, to secure their money many are deciding to sell off more bitcoins with inflation increasing and recession looming. Binance and Celsius fueled peoples panic the more when they recently but temporarily stopped the withdrawal of bitcoin.

If any major country/company can at this point Adopt bitcoin or perhaps a country, an individual who is idolized give some sort of recommendation about bitcoin, that can offer and boost the confidence of investors who are considering selling off not to, and investors who have left or reduced their portfolio to return and increase their bitcoin holding. A series of either adoption or recommendation will get bitcoin pumping again.
