2581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was told about a private coin sale, is it a scam? on: November 24, 2020, 03:58:31 PM
Of course it is a scam. First of all, you can't find anything about that coin. Secondly, you are saying that the website is poorly made. This means that the person just made a quick website to prove the existence of the coin. Thirdly, it is "someone" suggesting you to invest in the coin. Do you know this "random" person? And again, why is it a private sale and does he wants YOU to invest in it?
Highly likely a scam. Avoid it if you don't want to suffer any loss.
2582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be used instead of paper money on: November 24, 2020, 03:35:11 PM
"Bitcoin will be used instead of paper money"
we all know about Bitcoin. Even a few years ago no one had any idea about the sale. At today's price of 18 thousand dollars, the price of 1 bitcoin. It is a remarkable revolution. Bitcoin needed only one thing. Big companies accept Bitcoin. But it has been
somewhat successful in 2020. Bitcoin is going to be the currency of the future. Its value will increase at such a rate in the next five to six years. Which no one could have imagined. One is just people believing in bitcoin. If you use paper money you can destroy that paper money. but you can never destroy Bitcoin. Which you can't catch. There is no question that you will ever destroy it. This is mainly due to the differences between Bitcoin and paper money.
Just because bitcoin "can't be destroyed or has limited supply" doesn't automatically make it perfect for using it instead of paper money. There are still a lot of problems that needs to be addressed and people are still working for finding solutions to current problems. Once we have a perfect system, then we might be able to replace fiat currency, but that is not going to happen anytime soon. Maybe after few decades if nothing goes wrong?
2583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the biggest threat to Bitcoin? on: November 24, 2020, 02:49:39 PM
Why do people keep on thinking that the government can ban bitcoin? To ban bitcoin, they will have have to ban the central authority in their country. But bitcoin is decentralized and has no central authority. To ban bitcoin, the government will have to "ban everyone" that is helping the bitcoin network stay active which is impossible. If it was possible, wouldn't the government all around the world already put a ban on p2p torrenting? Secondly, the government can't suddenly tell its people to stop using bitcoin and abandon everything they have.
2584  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it a good time to get in or not on: November 24, 2020, 07:54:40 AM
Can one still dare to invest in Bitcoin when price is skyrocketing this high? I remember that some invested in Bitcoin at 20,000$ and the whole market started crashing on them, before they could pull out their money it's already too late and till today they haven't recovered their money, is this a good time to get in or it's already too late?
It looks like you are confused if you should invest or not. First of all, don't invest if you can't afford to lose. Secondly, don't invest because you fear that you might lose your opportunity for making quick profit. Invest only if you have the will for long term holding/investment.
If you invest now and the price crashes, it shouldn't affect you much since you were able to afford the crash. Moreover, even if the price crashes, you haven't made any loss since you haven't sold anything. All you need to do is keep holding it for next few years, while buying more of the coins when the price crashes to maximize your profit.
2585  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network on: November 23, 2020, 07:54:03 PM
Genuinely I will never purchase bitcoin from PayPal, They're most exceedingly terrible at communicating.
I wouldn't say they are "exceedingly" terrible. I have seen far worse aftersales/customer support. At least you can expect a reply from them at the end of the day instead of them ghosting you like most of the other customer support.

A little mistake can permanently block your account and you can lose your money.
I have heard about peoples account getting frozen. That is due to security reason. Happened to me once. Provided with them some information and got back may account in like 2 business days. I doubt you will lose your legitimately obtained money.
I appreciate that PayPal permitted their customers to purchase bitcoin it will exceptionally effect on bitcoin market yet I have some doubt and can not have faith in PayPal services.
In case you do not have a place in the US your account will be exceptionally unsafe. I will still stick on blockchain wallets and guide my other companions as well.
I highly doubt a big company like PayPal is going to screw up. Even if they do, I am more than positive they will compensate their users.
What do you mean by account being unsafe if you don't have a "place in US"?
2586  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase identity info on: November 22, 2020, 01:56:08 PM
I have no problem answering the questions if its for them and not been passed on.
I google ATMS yesterday and found a few listed going to see if they are active. The only place I have actually seen them is in Kyiv

I make take the plunge and set up a private key any recommended tutorial on doing so for some one who doesnt know what they are doing
ATMs are simple to use. Have a look over here first https://coinatmradar.com/ . You can finds atms near you. Look for the status and see if it is reported online by the operator. This way you don't have to go and check if they are working/online.
Each ATM has different fees (some of them are crazy). So make sure you choose one that you think has a reasonable fee. As for tutorials, maybe you want to read this https://coinatmradar.com/blog/how-to-buy-bitcoins-with-bitcoin-atm/

it is the same with bittrex since xx weeks
they freeze your account and withdrawing Angry

2587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: redeem crypto to usd withdraw on: November 21, 2020, 01:39:18 PM
I guess you are trying to say that you want to sell your bitcoins for cash, but the cash has to transferred from a US bank account to some other offshore accounts? I guess we won't be able to tell since exchanges try their best to process your withdrawal through local ways. So if you withdraw from US to a US bank, they will highly likely make transaction through a US local banks they are partnered with. If you try to do the same but to an Asian bank, they might process the transaction from somewhere else.
You best bet is to do a p2p trading with someone. Look for a person who is willing to do a wire transfer from US. Be careful, you might get scammed though.
2588  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase identity info on: November 21, 2020, 06:46:14 AM
Yes I am in the EU
The questionnaire I have no issue with and filled it out but I dont know why I need ID considering I already provided it when I joined.
I emailed them about it and they said I have until the end of December to comply or my account will be limited and 3 months from then it may be suspended

I dont know what other service I can use to buy BTC that doesnt ask for ID
I  obviously have an account with Binance but haven't set up a credit card with them
Probably some new EU regulation that requires all user to provide their ID again. I thought those questions were intrusive for which you didn't want to fill, but looks like the questions are not the problem. If you have already provided your ID before, I don't see any problem doing it again.
Have you tried those bitcoin ATMs for buying? They have shitty price  but you don't require ID (up to certain amount) to buy coins. An sms verification is all you need.
2589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tech giant Tencent partners with ShareRing Blockchain on: November 21, 2020, 06:21:06 AM
Isn't tencent a Chinese company that has been accused of stealing/illegal collection of user data and selling them? I have also heard that they were spying on their Chinese users, by injecting with trackers and everything.
But, anyway good thing they are trying to implement the blockchain system on their current applications.

What do you think about this? Good step for mainstream adoption?

Good step for mainstream adoption of blockchain. Though this does not automatically make cryptocurrency adoption mainstream.
2590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins I have in my wallets on: November 20, 2020, 08:51:11 PM
That is a lot of coins that you are mining/have mined. You seem have cheap electricity too. Or else you wouldn't be doing this, would you? The list of coins you currently hold does have some good coins, but I doubt the rest are going to make it.
Also, asking people over here which coin to hold for getting rich in the future isn't the best way to get proper answers. Most of them over here either don't care if you make losses, are biased or don't know what they are saying.
I would say if you enjoy mining different altcoins, then do it and keep holding. You don't have to sell anything. If any of them skyrockets, sell it Smiley.
2591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to securely store your Bitcoin on: November 20, 2020, 08:40:01 PM
Went through the article. At first glance I thought you were about to start talking about DeFi crap (most of them are here for scamming. Already few of them have started to exit scam!), but glad you didn't. Your article says how to "securely" store bitcoin, but looks like you started to talking about different kinds of wallets that are available. You fail to mention how some of the wallets are not secure. Like in case of hot wallet, you just say that they "lack in security". In what way? How are cold wallets more superior?
The end portion kinda felt like you were advertising for hardware wallets.
Maybe add more about how to "secure" your wallets by talking about issues with different kinds of wallets.
2592  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase identity info on: November 20, 2020, 07:35:09 PM
for those having CDD surveys sprung on you, or requirements to re-verify ID, are you located in the EU? im in the USA, just logged in, and see no changes or warnings on my account. no pop-ups, and i still have the same $25k daily withdrawal limit as always.
Same here. Logged in today, sold to fiat and did a bank withdrawal. Didn't receive any verification pop up or random survey to fill. Looks like they probably are from the EU. I have heard EU are now strictly regulating crypto currencies and taking down companies/organizations that aren't following their regulation policies.

i don't think we have the same verification level system here. i've seen some reddit posts from the past couple years that suggested these types of CDD surveys (about sources of income, employment, etc so they can build a risk profile on you) were required for level 2 verification. it sounds like they're making it mandatory now?
I have read people were being asked to verify their ID even after being already verified to the highest level. Every time I visit their subreddit, there is this one guy complaining how shit their verification system is.
2593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the price of Bitcoin now? Take profit or greed? on: November 20, 2020, 06:56:34 PM
Depends from person to person. If you have a goal set and it reaches, then sell. If it hasn't and you are scared that it will crash anytime soon, then remember, you have been already holding for long enough and you can still wait few more years. If you are still scared and if you sell now you won't be making any loss, then go ahead. Sell it. Why live everyday with the fear of losing everything. But, don't forget about the opportunity cost. You might later regret when you see the price rising.
Best thing to do is claim some of your profit, while holding the rest.
2594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 4% return - compounded DAILY on: November 20, 2020, 06:24:33 PM
Is this a serious thing?  freebitco.in/ - scroll down 1/2 way of page.  EARN INTEREST ON YOUR DEPOSITS section.

Just curious, didnt see anyone mention, but 4% daily compounded interest is kind of exciting if it is legit.....any one any info?
Like others said, it is 4% yearly interest, compounded daily. Daily 4% would be a stupid idea and a red flag for being a HYIP ponzi scheme.. Yeah, they are legit so far. I mean they have been here for like more than 7 years maybe. Their main ANN thread has hundreds of replies and the owner is still active. So, at least for now there aren't any scam accusation against them so its good to use. What ever you invest is used for mining and their bankroll. They have a very high house edge and people do gamble using dice over there, so they eventually manage to cover your profits too. Just be careful not to but all your bitcoins over there.
2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin make someone the richest in the world? on: November 20, 2020, 08:01:50 AM
I came to investigate the richest man in Africa, he is not a bitcoin users, but a business man who don't depend on bitcoin investment.
The richest man in the world, he is not a bitcoin users but a business man who use fiat Money to invest and make a good profit.
Is there any way someone can use bitcoin to invest and become the richest in the world?
Your opinion is needed.
This makes no sense. It is not like that person became the richest by holding fiat currency. He become rich by investing in probably different stocks or business. Its the same way he can become rich by investing in bitcoin. If someone keeps on investing in bitcoin, does not fall for stupid scams and keeps holding until his profit goals are reached, then yeah he will be able to make profit and become rich.
But don't think it is going to be really easy. If you make mistakes, you might become the poorest person in the world. So like all other investment, invest only what you can afford to lose.
2596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some of the benefits of Bitcoin ... on: November 20, 2020, 07:35:07 AM
Currently Bitcoin transaction fees are satisfactory. I think in a decade or so later Bitcoin's payment protocol will probably be more polished and usable so that the fees are not likely to be higher. Because it will discourage bitcoin users from using bitcoin. So it needs to have some solution like LN or reduce miners. As a result, there will be no need to increase transaction fees.
Care to explain how reducing miners is going to help reduce fees?

besides that in my opinion the benefit of bitcoin is a blockchain system that eliminates the financial centralization system coupled with an anonymous system that makes transactions safer
-snip-
Bitcoin is not anonymous. Why do people keep on assuming that the transactions made with bitcoin is always going to be anonymous? The person who is making the transaction can eventually be traced unless that person takes drastic measures to hide all his footprints. And what makes you thing an "anonymous system" is going to make transactions safer? It might be safe for the person doing the transaction, but not the person receiving it.

-snip-
Not just this we can send cash around the world. The anonymous exchanges make it taxes free and the bank won't take any activities.
I quit utilizing another Payment gateway due to their exceptional expense and move to bitcoins. It set aside my time and cash.
Tax free probably in some countries. But in most of the countries you will have to pay tax as soon as you convert bitcoin to fiat.
2597  Economy / Exchanges / Re: yobit account freezed withdrawal on: November 19, 2020, 09:17:57 PM
Dear admin Yobit

Hello, I pressed the freeze withdrawal button by mistake. Please open the freeze, please
Thank you, accept my regards

username : shefan1
email : dowdow2020@yahoo.com

Thank you, accept my regards
Yobit still exists? Isn't it a exchange that lists all shit coins and has literally the worst customer service ever? I remember back then just seeing threads popping up now and then claiming yobit is a scam or they got scammed by yobit and something similar. I bet if you google yobit scam, a shit loads of threads are going to show up on the result.
Well, good luck getting a "proper" reply and help from them.
I always wonder why people use those bad exchange even after there are a lot of well know exchanges? If someone even does a bit of a research about how bad of an exchange yobit is, he wouldn't be using it.
2598  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: who actually moves the price of bitcoin? on: November 19, 2020, 07:50:24 AM
Most bitcoin prices are tied to an average or a collection of what the top exchanges publish as the current bitcoin price. But who's actually moving their prices? From my understanding, retail users don't have the power to move prices in the short term. Whales supposedly are the ones who can make the price suddenly jump or drop...but they trade on OTC desks right? not on retail exchanges....so how are these Whale movements being reflected on retail exchanges to determine what the current bitcoin price is? Or are there actually some whales who use the exchanges to trade on?
Doesn't matter if a whale trades in OTC desks or exchanges, when they sell, they increase the supply of available bitcoin in the market eventually. The price is then affected by this demand and supply law.
By the way, an average "retail" user don't have the power to move the prices, but when every average "users" do the same thing, they can cause the price to rise or fall. We usually see them when a whale slightly dumps his coins, other average users out of fear starts to dump their coins too and hence the price drops even further.
2599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: any project with coin distribution?? on: November 19, 2020, 06:55:11 AM
Is there any current project distributing free coins or having Airdrops?

Or anyone giving free coins as start up.. let me know I will message the address
You might see some threads pop up now and then about airdrops. Probably in the bounty section. But most of them don't give you free coins. You will have to perform certain tasks in order to receive those coins. Again, some will ask for your IDs for receiving coins (just don't.. Not worth risking your identity. You never know what they are going to do with those IDs after scamming people. Probably sell those in the blackmarket?).
It is not even worth collecting those free coins. At least 99.5% coins you have collected will have a value altogether of few cents.
2600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A crypto Scammer on the run on: November 18, 2020, 07:45:00 PM
You shouldn't blame me from running away from any crypto project that has a nigerian as one of its members, I don't hate this country but it's majority of its people are something else, not all nigeriana are bad though but .......here is a news I came across yesterday,
-snip-

Looks like you are just overgeneralizing that all Nigerians are scammers. Just because a lot of Nigerians are involved in scamming doesn't mean you will be running away from each and every projects initiated by Nigerians. All you will be doing is just discourage those legit people who comes up with good ideas. Scammers are everywhere. Not just in Nigeria. If majority of people "were bad", their country would have been completely destroyed by now.
Don't turn away from crypto currencies just because of few scammers. Instead, take steps to protect your self from them.
