2582  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: March 03, 2023, 04:26:43 PM
According to today's news that I have read, it seems that the EU will not adopt this law after all, because Germany and Italy are putting a lot of pressure to prevent that from happening. Of course, these are two countries that have a significant share in the production of cars, and such a law would have a very harmful effect on their economies. This does not mean that the share of electric cars on the roads will not increase, but I do not believe that such a ban will come before 2050.
2583  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to convert my money to bitcoin because of our current banking system in m on: March 03, 2023, 03:59:28 PM
~snip~
Buying Bitcoin then storing it in non custodial wallet like Electrum wallet that is free and does not need big storage space in your computer. It is available for mobile devices too.

In general, any non-custodial BTC wallet is better than custodial options, but only if certain prerequisites are met.

  • That the computer or smartphone on which we will install the wallet is clean of viruses/malware, and that we do not use it for those activities that carry potential risks (cracked software, torrents, pornographic websites).
  • That these devices have at least some kind of protection against the aforementioned threats, and that they are up to date regarding their operating systems.
  • That whoever uses such a wallet knows the importance of a backup, and does not save it in an inappropriate way (as plain text on a computer, in the cloud or e-mail).

For someone who wants to convert all their funds into Bitcoin, all the above mentioned things are extremely important, with the note of course that volatility should always be kept in mind - because not so long ago the price of BTC exceeded $25k, and today it is close to $22K, which is not easy to accept for most beginners.
2584  Economy / Reputation / Re: LegendaryDR, DiorDior, SirAndre - alt accounts on: March 03, 2023, 03:23:17 PM
@DaveF, we have no reliable evidence that the account changed owner, and BPIP only shows that he reset the password three times via e-mail in the period from 2018 to 2020, and I'm not sure if this could be some kind of indicator that the owner has changed?

However, I admit that it is a bit strange to see that your feedback shows his account as Light Green, which is not very appropriate for those members who publicly offered their BTT account for sale. Also, I can't say if @ONLYfree has anything to do with these three accounts that sell BTT accounts on the forum and that have been tagging me at the same time - but they all have his old thread for reference.

If you have read all the other feedbacks, this one is particularly interesting and leads to this post -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1702409.msg18425502#msg18425502

I decided to enlight you guys and make some things clear becouse i read so much speculation what is not based on any of the fundamentals or facts.

I thought you were only looking for serious investors, as you wrote in the other thread - but it seems that you have decided to share your enlightenment with ordinary mortals. I will repeat to you again that some people are always in a panic, and that those who know at least a little about how the market works do not have any problems in this or similar moments.

In fact, you haven't written anything useful, and most of it is incomprehensible to the majority who will read it anyway. I'll just say that your writing style reminds me of some trolls who appear from time to time and pretend to be "experts.
2586  Economy / Reputation / Re: LegendaryDR, DiorDior, SirAndre - alt accounts on: March 03, 2023, 11:46:29 AM
It was clear to me that they were alts at the moment when they tagged me at the same time, although it is also clear to me that the person behind those alts probably has dozens of accounts that he sells and through which he sells. Unfortunately, as you can see, the whole thing about selling BTT accounts has been put aside and 99% of members no longer want to spend a few seconds of their time to tag such accounts.

Maybe I should have stayed away as well, and if I had, I certainly wouldn't have found myself a target of that mafia, which is probably even now figuring out how to take revenge, because tampering with someone's profit, regardless of what they do, is very dangerous.
2587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: America Wants to buy Bitcoin 20% adults own it, while 29% willing to buy! on: March 03, 2023, 11:28:55 AM
Mathematically, it's enough to randomly survey 1000 people to get an accurate representation of the entire population's opinion.
Sample size has formula but you can easily calculate it immediately here: https://www.calculator.net/sample-size-calculator.html

Mathematically, it works in principle, but the problem is how such surveys are carried out in practice. I only know that such surveys are quite misused not only for PR company purposes, but also for political purposes, especially in the time before the parliamentary elections. If someone says that the error is less than 3%, and you have multiple examples where it is close to 10%, then it is clear to you that someone is manipulating the data, that is, that they are either very biased, or they are inventing the data in favor of someone who pays them for it.

For years we have been bombarded with surveys like this, and we know that they have nothing to do with reality - whether it is the US, India or another country.
2588  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance - where is it located? on: March 03, 2023, 11:14:47 AM

Almost, if you ask any one about who are the managers of Biance or who owns the company, the answer will be CZ, other than that we do not have any information, and it is likely that if a problem occurs, we will find many fake intermediaries companies with Biance.

At first glance, it seems like a one-man operation, so although this is probably not the case, who can say with certainty that in the event that the "beloved leader" disappears like Cotten (Quadriga) most of the client's funds will not disappear with him?

Therefore, I would not advise anyone to believe those stories that their funds are "safu", while at the same time the owner calls them incapable of protecting their funds in non-custodial wallets. I have never appreciated people who underestimate their customers like that.

@hugeblack, did you misspell their name on purpose - I noticed you did it twice? I don't like doing free advertising for them either, although I have a slightly different way of doing it Wink
2589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Caution Newbies Bitcoin is BTC on: March 03, 2023, 10:43:26 AM
The whole story is just proof of how much influence the media has on the average person who has "heard" about Bitcoin, and in fact cannot make a clear difference between Bitcoin and all other cryptocurrencies that in some way imitate the same, whether it is about max supply or they just have a name starting with B.

I don't like to interfere in other people's decisions when it comes to finances, but I would definitely warn everyone that this is not the Bitcoin they may be thinking of. However, if someone really wants to invest in altcoins, it is his decision and we should respect that decision. I know some people who bought BTC forks and still keep them today, but I guess it's a good feeling to have one whole Bitcoin, no matter what it was called and how meaningless it was.
2590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Deposit Exchange Rate shocks on: March 03, 2023, 10:18:36 AM
Why people want to use service with so big exchange fee??

That's a good question, although there isn't just one answer to it. One of the reasons is definitely that people are used to using ATMs, and the other is because they generally don't have to do KYC. However, anyone who pays such a large fee cannot justify it with anything other than complete ignorance of what the real price is - there is no other justification.

I thought the transaction was old when I first sighted the acknowledgement slips, not knowing that the price was crooked to those levels. The BTC rate of over $30,000 while the actual rate is below $24,000 is outrageous, it's extortion for that matter.

It's a free market, and it's nothing new that we haven't seen before when it comes to the price difference. During the big bull runs, the difference in the price of BTC used to be several thousand dollars in some countries, so some even thought of moving to South Korea or at least finding someone there, because then you could really make a lot of money selling BTC in that country.
2591  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How can we make Bitcoin simpler? on: March 02, 2023, 03:21:20 PM
~snip~

Backup is only part of what we are talking about, and that part is of course not too demanding, unless you are going to explain to someone how those 12 or 24 words have a backup function at all - because 99% of people think that words are just words, and yet it is a visual presentation of something much more complex.

On the other hand, try to put yourself in the position of someone who installed a wallet, had a backup and now wants to learn how to make transactions. You have to explain to that person what a public address is, what a change address is, what clipboard malware is, what a fee is and how to set it up correctly, what RBF is and how to use it in case the transaction gets stuck... In addition, if the wallet is not localized in a language that the person understands, you only have one more problem on top of everything else.

I don't see how using Bitcoin can be simpler than it is now, but let's be honest, it's not for anyone no matter how hard we try to make it.
2592  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I dont like predicting btc price or moves but here is what i think i see on: March 02, 2023, 02:53:39 PM
Reason why Im opened this topic i see everywhere there is a lot panic.
~snip~

What kind of panic are you talking about? All those who have no idea what exactly they are investing in will always be in a panic, whether they are losing money or making a profit. Smart people know exactly what the correct position is, but they don't bet in the short term.

But as i sayd If you are retail style trader then i have nothing to discuss with you.
Im looking for instution Investment traders educated people to talk.

Where did you get the idea that institutional traders are on this forum? Do you think Saylor, Silbert or Draper spend their time here making billions?

So Im asking Are here people who knows Same things like me ?
If not should i send my resume to grayscale or microstradgey ...lol 😁

You can try, but if you want to have any chance try to write their name in the correct way, because otherwise they won't consider you as the expert you pretend to be Wink
2593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keeping BTC in sovereign hands. Fairy Tales from the LA Fitness Sauna on: March 02, 2023, 02:29:26 PM
Why would the CIA ask Gavin to hold a speech and tell them what it is and how it works, if it was them who created it?
Doesn't make much sense to me.

Who says that they invited him, and not that it was the other way around? (I know what he wrote on that matter). At that time, it was obviously important for him to earn an easy $3000, and a few years later he showed that he did not even know how to verify a signed BTC message and believed that some scammer is Satoshi.

No, I don't think that Bitcoin is an invention of any agency with three or four letters, because they basically were and still are very unintelligent for such things. If terrorists roam the country for months or even years and then steal passenger planes and carry out attacks across the US, then it is clear how much IQ those who work in such agencies have.
2594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Mainstream payment method on: March 02, 2023, 11:43:18 AM
You mean half of the world doesn't have proper access to internet?

It's not literally half, but according to data for 2023, even around 35% of the world's population does not have access to the internet at all, while it is questionable how many people have a permanent and high-quality connection to the internet. Many members of this forum from some African countries have exactly this problem, their internet actually depends on whether they have electricity, and this makes their activities much more difficult - although this is not something specific only to Africa.

But even if we take the 2/3 who have access to the internet, looking at it as a whole, all researchers say that less than 5% of the world's population is in some way involved in cryptocurrencies, and of that number there are certainly many who have invested only in altcoins.

When you draw a line under all that information, then your question cannot get any kind of positive answer, regardless of which aspect of the problem you are talking about (if the problem exists at all).
2595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is to grow your money on: March 02, 2023, 11:08:41 AM
My follow beginner, hope your reason in investing in Bitcoin is not thinking to live large , buy good cars and to acquire mansions.
---
The reason in investing bitcoin should be just to level up financially, grow your money and get a better return of it.

As @lovesmayfamilis noted, you're kind of contradicting yourself - because no matter what you're talking about, you still think that Bitcoin is exclusively an investment, without even mentioning that it's a decentralized cryptocurrency that should allow anyone at any time to make a transaction without seeking the approval of a bank, government or other institution.

I'm not saying Bitcoin isn't a good investment, but it wasn't created exclusively for that, use it as a currency from time to time Wink
2596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keeping BTC in sovereign hands. Tales from the LA Fitness Sauna on: March 02, 2023, 10:38:19 AM
So here was a very intriguing encounter that I had, about 3 or 4 months ago. I was in the sauna in LA fitness and it was just me and one other guy in there. All of the sudden he started talking to me, had some very positive things to say about my "energy" he said he liked my energy and that he could tell that I had some big things in store in my future. Very intrigued I questioned him on this and asked him what he did for a living. He told me " Its my job to usher in the next payment system into the world". After talking to him more and more about it, it turned out that this guy was traveling country to country making huge deals in BTC with high ranking government officials. He kept saying that its his job to keep BTC in "Sovereign hands" I found this all very interesting.

He elaborated some more saying that the CIA was the group that really created BTC. He went on to speak about the white hats and the black hats in the CIA, aka the good guys and the bad guys, and that basically the whole agency was at war with itself. Crazy wild stuff here. Just an average day out at the gym for me, lmao. Anyhow, I finally got a chance to write it down and talk about it. I could go way more in depth but I don't want to sound crazy here, a lot of what was mentioned truly had me a little taken back. Like what if what he was saying was true, he said that the best way to play the field is to play both sides of the coin, to ensure your success, because then at that point no matter what you would do you would win. I don't know if anything what he said was true that night, but i'll tell you one thing, it sure was entertaining.

Has anyone else had any strange encounters like this?

It seems to me that you have a very vivid imagination and that you are selling us stories for small children - because your story is nothing but a poorly conceived fantasy.

Given that you have already had strange topics involving drugs, lost friends and multi-million dollar deals, I would say that this story is constructed on old conspiracy theories that some three-letter agency invented Bitcoin - and now some strange people are walking around fitness centers and reveal top secrets to complete strangers - don't make fun of us, we're not all that naive.
2597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Mainstream payment method on: March 02, 2023, 10:24:09 AM
As the title implies, we all know that, almost the whole world knows about the existence of bitcoin and cryptocurrency, the problem is although more and more people are becoming aware of it, there're still barriers preventing them on using crypto.

Do you think that's true? Well, half of the people in the world don't even have access to the Internet, and even if they heard about Bitcoin, how should they use it if they don't have the basics for it? The barriers you are talking about are primarily infrastructural, although of course there are also those mental barriers for most people who understand economics and finance only to the extent that they know what a bank card and a 4-digit PIN are for.

"What does BTCitcoin needed in order to become a mainstream payment system? "
---
I know some of you would say improvements of Security, Scalability, and User Experience, but aside from that, What is the most needed for BTCitcoin right now?

Forget any mainstream payment method in the sense that you will be able to pay with Bitcoin in every store and for every service, because that will probably never be achievable, especially in countries that strictly control their financial system, and besides, they are among the most populous countries in the world. Bitcoin will always be an alternative, and by no means some kind of coercion that should be imposed by any state or individual.
2598  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance - where is it located? on: March 01, 2023, 04:40:05 PM
Regardless of what CZ says, it seems to me that the headquarters of the company is in the headquarters of CP China in the sense that the boss will run there if things go downhill. If you look at it from that perspective, then CZ runs a perfect global business, and its HQ can be wherever it comes to mind.

As for taxes, they only pay what they have to in order to appear to be operating legitimately, and the laws have so many loopholes that an army of cunning lawyers can very skillfully exploit them.
2599  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust wallet update on: March 01, 2023, 03:49:24 PM
@hugeblack, I have had that wallet for some time and I only used it a couple of times for some microtransactions, but now when I tried to open it, it automatically showed me that there was an update, which was not the case before. I can confirm that Google Play also shows me that there is an update for the wallet, so I conclude that the previous version of the Trust wallet may have received some kind of upgrade that informs users that there is an update.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to try to make a transaction, but after I exited the wallet and logged in again (several times), I didn't get the notification anymore. By the way, it shows me 7.3 as the last version.
2600  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Legitimacy of account on: March 01, 2023, 03:32:16 PM
Also the person can’t stop contacting me.

If it's only about contacting via e-mail messages, then you just need to mark one of those messages as spam and all messages should automatically go there. In case you think that the whole matter should be raised to a higher level, perhaps reporting to the police would be a logical step, because this is an attempted fraud that could have resulted in financial loss - so even though you did not become a victim, that does not mean that someone else will not believe and fall into a trap.
