2581  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi wallet issues??? on: March 31, 2022, 09:05:59 AM
The thing that I don't like about this wallet is that has high fees..........
Coinomi allow you the set the transaction fee manually.
To do so, go to "Setting". Tap on "Advanced Setting" under "Wallet" and then select "Transaction fees". After that, you can set the fee rate.

As already mentioned in previous posts, Coinomi had a vulnerability sending users seed phrase to google servers.
Anyone who wants to know more about the vulnerability can visit the following topic and see how it caused a user to lose all his coins.

2582  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance unverified account on: March 30, 2022, 02:16:55 PM
I also have an unverified account on binance. I just logged in to my account to see if I have the same withdrawal limit.
As shown in the following image, the withdrawal limit for me is 2000 BUSD. Of course, I wouldn't trust what displayed there and I would never make any deposit.

No, not as far as I know. IIRC, when you try to make a deposit with an unverified account, they'll tell you to verify your identity first and won't even give you an address to deposit to. Maybe you can try doing that.
My account is unverified, but they show me the deposit address.
2583  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: My Wallet dont work. its still Offline on: March 29, 2022, 01:22:40 PM
Have you installed bitcoin core? You need to install bitcoin core and download the blockchain (around 400 gigabytes of data). Armory needs that data to be online.

If you don't want to download the blockchain for any reason, you can import your wallet into electrum.
Electrum is a SPV wallet and you don't need to download the blockchain. Just note that SPV wallets like electrum don't give you the privacy wallets like Armory give you. In SPV wallets, you connect to a server which can link your addresses with your IP.

Warning:
Download electrum only from its official website and do not forget to verify your download.
2584  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Could it be that if I send BTC from one type of wallet to another, transax fail? on: March 28, 2022, 03:56:09 PM
The type of address you select only changes the size of the transaction you're sending (which changes the fee and how long the transaction will take to confirm).
A small correction:
With using segwit addresses, you don't decrease transaction size.
The segwit fork changed the way the transaction fee is calculated and now you pay lower fee when using segwit addresses, because your transaction has a smaller weight, not because its size has been decreased.
2585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Could it be that if I send BTC from one type of wallet to another, transax fail? on: March 28, 2022, 03:08:28 PM
You can send bitcoin from any type of address to any type of address.
Note that segwit and taproot were soft forks and no new chains were created. All bitcoin transactions are made in a single blockchain.

Below is a random transaction I picked from the blockchain.
As you see, the transaction has been made from a legacy address to a segwit address.

2586  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: unconfirmed TX only on my local machine on: March 28, 2022, 02:22:42 PM
it says missing inputs
This means that the coins you were trying to spend have been spent in another transaction and exist only in your wallet.
Remove any local transaction you see in history tab. After that, you will be able to spend the fund, if there's any coin owned by you.

2587  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bread Wallet now Coinbase Wallet - help needed. on: March 27, 2022, 10:29:13 AM
Bread Wallet uses m/0' as a derivation path instead of the standard m/xx'/0'/0', so manually selecting the script types in Electrum won't work unless you also specify this custom path.
So, it's really weird that they are asking users to import their wallet to Coinbase.

I imported a BIP39 seed phrase into Coinbase wallet to see what derivation path the addresses are generated on.
Coinbase wallet displayed two receiving addresses. One legacy address and one segwit address.
The legacy address was generated on the path m/44'/0'/0'/0/0 and the segwit address was generated on the path m/84'/0'/0'/0/0.

So, Coinbase generates addresses in the standard derivation path of m/xx'/0'/0' too.
It seems that, Breadwallet is only trying to advertise Coinbase without telling users there are many other alternatives and without paying attention to the different derivation path used by Coinbase.
2588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can I own more than one private and public key? on: March 27, 2022, 09:44:57 AM
It seems that you are confusing public key with address. However your bitcoin address can be derived from your public key, it's not common to give your public key to people. You should give your address to others.

Anyways, as mentioned above by OmegaStarScream and PawGo, any address can be used for receiving bitcoin numerous times. So, you can give a single address to as many people as you want. All of them will be able to send bitcoin to you.

However it's possible to reuse an address, due to privacy reasons, that's not recommended to do so.
Note that all bitcoin transactions are public and anyone who knows your bitcoin address can easily check your previous transactions and know how much bitcoin you have.

If you want to protect your privacy, I recommend you to use a HD wallet instead of using a single address and a single private key.
In a HD wallet, you have numerous addresses derived from a seed and you can use a new address whenever someone is supposed to send bitcoin to you.

2590  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bread Wallet now Coinbase Wallet - help needed. on: March 27, 2022, 07:46:19 AM
I checked the new Coinbase wallet address on block explorer and it has zero transactions showing. I tried going through this transfer process again with no luck. I even deleted the Coinbase wallet app and re-downloaded it and still same issue, nothing transfers over. You can see when opening Bread that the coins are still there.
It's possible that coinbase is generating the address on a different derivation path.
Do you remember the character your address start with on Breadwallet? If so, is that same as the first character of the address generated by coinbase?
If you don't access your address anymore, you may be able to find that somewhere else. For example, in your withdrawals history if you have purchased the coins on an exchange.

So at this point I could just use another wallet like electrum and just type in my recovery seed?
As I said in my previous post, you can import your wallet into any wallet supporting BIP39 seed phrases.
If you are trying to access your bitcoin, electrum should work. If you are trying to access your altcoins, you should use other wallets.

I will of course need more than just my recovery seed, such as my wallet address correct? If I can’t access my bread wallet address on the app anymore, how do I go about doing this? Or what else do I need to do?
No, you don't need your address. All your addresses can be derived from your seed phrase.

In electrum, select "Standard wallet" and then "I already have a seed". Click on "options", check "BIP39 seed" and click on "OK". Enter you seed phrase and click on "Next".
After that you need to specify the script type.
If you don't remember the character your bitcoin address start with, click on "Detect existing accounts".
If you remember the character your bitcoin address start with, you can select the script type, manually.

Select "Legacy" if your address(es) start with 1.
Select "p2sh-segwit" if your address(es) start with 3.
Select "native segwit" if your address(es) start with bc1.

Again, you can use electrum only for recovering your bitcoin. If you have any altcoin, you can't use electrum for them. But there are still many alternatives and you don't have to use coinbase.

Could I recover these coins via trezor, Coinomi, blockchain app, or perhaps an exchange such as Binance US, Gemini, or Kraken?
Wallets like Coinomi and blockchain (and many others) and your hardware wallet should work. But you can't use exchanges.
2591  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bread Wallet now Coinbase Wallet - help needed. on: March 26, 2022, 08:05:34 PM
I never used Coinbase wallet and I am not sure if it's non-custodial, but maybe you could just use your seed words and import them in any other wallet you want.
There are two different coinbase wallets. One of them is custodial and the other one is non-custodial.

To OP:
Since breadwallet is a non-custodial wallet, you have full control over your private keys and you don't have to use Coinbase. You can import your seed phrase into any wallet supporting BIP39 seed phrase.
I don't recommend using coinbase wallet. Because it's close-source and we don't know what's happening behind the scene.
If you have bitcoin, as suggested by dkbit98, you can use electrum for accessing your fund. Even for your altcoins, there should be many other alternatives better than coinbase.

Warning:
Download electrum only from its official website and do not forget to verify your download.
2592  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum verification question/issue? on: March 26, 2022, 01:43:18 PM
Thats it?  Awesone!  What exaclty happens when I certifiy? It is confirming these keys are legit?  Thankyou!
Electrum is an open-source wallet and the source code is available to anyone.
Scammers can easily change the source code and make a fake version which looks like the original version.
With verifying the signature, you actually verify that you have downloaded the original version of eletrum.
Note that even if you are sure that you have downloaded electrum from its official website, you still need to verify the signature. Because, there is no guarantee that the website hasn't been hacked
2593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Decentralized Wallets not Metamask on: March 26, 2022, 10:38:46 AM
I can only think of one app for that, Trust Wallet. Though only available as mobile version, it's open-source and community-driven (at least that's what they brag about themselves).
Trustwallet used to be an open-source wallet, but now it's close-source and they lie about that.
Click here to see their (outdated) source code on Github. It has been four years since their last update.

Lying and claiming being open-source is surely a red flag for trustwallet.
2594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you share your key to your family? on: March 26, 2022, 09:46:30 AM
So it is idea to share your passphrase with a trusted family members, but not the amount in it (Be wise) because some of them can kill you just because of your own money.
I feel you are confusing passphrase with seed phrase.
Seed phrase: A series of words (usually 12 or 24 words)
Passphrase: A word which is added to your seed phrase for more security

Also, anyone who has access to your seed phrase can easily import it to a wallet and know the amount of bitcoin you have. They don't need you to tell them the balance.
2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: securing seed, brute forcing one missing word in seed on: March 25, 2022, 10:01:28 PM
But I guess you mean some other password, like extension word. not the password for encrypting the keys generated out of the seed.
The word (or a combination of words or characters) added to the seed phrase is usually called passphrase, so it's not confused with the password used for encrypting the wallet file locally.

How compatible is "bip-39 password " between wallets? is it part of bip39 standard?
Yes. Any wallet allowing you to add a passphrase to your BIP39 seed phrase should generate the same addresses for you.
2596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why all this hype with Hardware Wallets when Bitcoin Core is all you need? on: March 24, 2022, 09:14:53 PM
1. If you want 100% security with bitcoin core or electrum, you need an air-gapped device for generating the wallet and signing the transactions. Not all people have an air-gapped device.
2. Exporting the unsigned transaction and signing it on a air-gapped device may be difficult for many people. Most of the people want to be able to make transactions easily.
3. If you use bitcoin core, you need to download the blockchain. That's why many people prefer SPV wallets.
4. Many people want a multi-currency wallet for holding their altcoins.
5. Most of the people don't know how running their own full node can be helpful to them.
2597  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem updating from 4.1.5 to 4.2.0 on: March 24, 2022, 08:18:34 PM
The problem is probably with the version of python you have installed. The minimum version of python required for running electrum has been increased.

Someone reported a same issue with electrum 4.2.0, a few days ago. Visit the following topic and read the replies made there.
Electrum 4.2.0 strange dll errors
2598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: securing seed, brute forcing one missing word in seed on: March 24, 2022, 07:39:02 PM
Then I learnt that bip39 is not extensible.
This is wrong.
Create a new wallet in electrum. Select "Standard wallet" and then "I already have a seed". Click on "options". Check "BIP39 seed" and "Extend this seed with custom words" options.
Now, enter you BIP39 seed phrase and click on "Next". After that, electrum will ask you to enter the passphrase.
With adding a passphrase (which can be any combination of words or characters), you will generate completely different addresses.

I think this is the best solution for you. There is no need to change any of the words.
2599  Economy / Economics / Re: Paper btc and paper usdt new money system on: March 24, 2022, 04:44:32 PM
Then how transactions are recorded in the blockchain? All bitcoin transactions should be public. If I give you a paper instead of making a transaction, that doesn't really have any difference with fiat.
How can you guarantee that extra papers won't be created from thin air? What if someone give you a fake paper?
Who will print the papers? Central banks? Didn't satoshi create bitcoin to eliminate third parties and let people to be their own bank?

If you want to give someone a paper instead of making a transaction, use fiat. You don't need bitcoin for that.
2600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you share your key to your family? on: March 24, 2022, 01:45:38 PM
If you want someone to have access to your bitcoin after your death, you can use locktime feature.
With locktime, you can make a transaction which will be valid after a certain time and can't be broadcast to the network before that.

Read the guide created by LoyceV.
Using Locktime for inheritance planning, backups or gifts
