Can't quite understand why is the IBM promoting bitcoin? Are they just using bitcoin to promote they're own services? Or is it just pure marketing and the only goal is to get some attention?

Anyway, nice to see action like this.

May be to escape from taxes........

They may do, because they loss lot of money by way of taxes (on fiat transactions) - as BTC transactions are not taxable.

272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Study Says - 50% Drop In Cryptocurrency Transactions Will Happen This Year on: February 06, 2015, 03:58:58 AM
As the article said, cryptocurrency transactions will drop but Bitcoin might be holding on as a payment technology alternative.

A 50% Drop In Cryptocurrency Transactions This Year Is imminent

However, a 50% drop is as bad as it gets. In the midst of left and right financing from companies who are now considering cryptocurrency as a potential option.

Do you think this study is true? Aside from adoption, is there any possible way to help turn the tides for cryptocurrency?

The Author himself said "I believe that cryptocurrency as a whole might face a decrease of transactions made this year but Bitcoin will continue to flourish as a alternative payment technology for people around the world. "

There is nothing about death of Bitcoin!! Bitcoin must have bright future!!!
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS Using Bitcoins :o on: February 06, 2015, 03:49:24 AM
There’s a grain of truth in this story. It’s certainly true that terrorists—like those affiliated with Islamic State—are looking at crypto-currencies as a means to move money without spies and law enforcement agencies tracking them.

The concept that bitcoin could be used to help fund terrorists has been a long-standing concern among law enforcement and government agencies worldwide. Indeed, many restrictions placed on the use of digital currencies stem from these concerns.

Bitcoin makes it difficult for anti-terrorist financing authorities to stop transactions from taking place. Services such as DarkWallet were specifically cited as methods for making bitcoin payments between terrorists even more untraceable.

Terrorist funders may find bitcoin and other digital currencies attractive owing to the broad supervision and monitoring of the global financial system. Specifically, in the post-9/11 world, many governments actively watch for suspicious money movements.

By using bitcoin, ISIS and other organizations could circumvent legal barriers that keep money away from terrorists. The digital currency’s borderless transaction capabilities and avoidance of major money conduits make it a logical fit for terrorists – and a likely target for law enforcement officials concerned about this exact application.

Bitcoin presents tax evasion benefits as well.

280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin were at a constant price, more people would use it. on: February 02, 2015, 11:58:09 AM
If Bitcoin were at a constant price, more people would use it. I think this is the case cause only if it is CONSTANTLY $200 or constantly $50, will people use it to store value. If it goes up and down then people lose too much money trying to control their own funds and will lead to them using banks (Angry). Oh well..

I agree 100% with you. Atleast not this much of volatile.......
