tzBTC — Bitcoin on the Tezos blockchain

Bitcoin Association Switzerland (BAS) together with the involved companies, announced another way to use Bitcoin: tzBTC, a token on the Tezos blockchain backed 1–1 by Bitcoin.

With Bitcoin being the de facto reserve-currency of cryptocurrencies, tzBTC is one of the first examples of tokenization on Tezos which enables the use of the Tezos blockchain features with Bitcoin.

“The multi-signature (“multi-sig”) key management system of tzBTC enables a strongly trust-reduced setup with no central issuer as a single point of failure, while being fully transparent. The Bitcoin Association Switzerland acts as an overseer and coordinates with the keyholders. Protected by Swiss law and cryptography, we’ve found a practical balance between decentralization and usability.” — press-release says on the BAS website.

The governance mechanism of the tzBTC contract allows for the compliant and secure issuance of BTC-backed tokens on the Tezos blockchain. The various responsibilities are managed by several key stakeholders: the Association, Keyholders, Gatekeepers, and Users.

Three processes are involved in the tzBTC system: Initiating, Minting and Burning.

You can learn more about stakeholder roles and the processes in tzBTC Brief Overview

The launch of tzBTC is one of the first examples of tokenization and DeFi (decentralized finance) on Tezos. Blockchains enable us to expressively encode financial permissioning and governance rules in a publicly transparent way.

In the future, there will be a lot of work done in exploring novel mechanisms for governing, using, and transacting in wrapped assets on the Tezos blockchain.

Huh, that's pretty cool. I wonder if KPI or Schevchenko's do the same. Since you are taking this course, can you tell if it's more focused on crypto or on blockchain? I'm hoping that it's focused on crypto, especially Bitcoin, since it's far more practical than "blockchain technology". And since this course is only about the basics, are there any other courses that go in-depth?

Yes, they definitely have Blockchain course in KPI
I know professor who is teaching a course there - Anton Kobrynets, he is also founder of one crypto-startup and organizer of one of the blockchain conferences in Kyiv.

Do you have any proof or information that those Altcoin projects actually pay?

Well, of course, they pay.
I know some people who work there (my be not in these 15 projects which I featured) but at some other

And thanks everyone for your interest and comments!
270  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Crypto Jobs 2020 on: April 05, 2020, 02:12:03 PM
I think this thread is a bit offtopic, these 50-100 jobs have zero global significance, so it would be more suitable for boards like Services or Project Development or Bitcoin Discussion. Anyway, I know from practice that jobs are very scarce in crypto field, and now with a lot of people getting unemployed due to the virus, there will be even more competition for the jobs that we have.

Do you work at the job which has global significance? If yes, maybe there are open positions?) Then this topic won't be offtopic

In Services or Project Development it will be more offtopic, as this is not about some particular service or project.

Even if 1 person finds a job thanks to these links - I think it was worthy of sharing

I agree that there will be more competition, but the links I provided show that jobs in crypto are not scarce.
Of course it's a matter of comparison. There are way more IT guys who work for banks, but those who want to find job in crypto - there are always open opportunities.

Thank you, at least this has been a little helpful for many people who are always asking about it. but there is no problem when looking for other answers that are more appropriate in my opinion.

You are welcome!
And also I need to tell that right now most communication about Telos happens in Telegram (similar situation is in many crypto projects)
So if somebody needs fast answers - you are more than welcome there!

Well it sound a great dapp just disappointed beta it is open just for US resident, i am just wondering how test for covid19 will work. I am going to check. Sad i did miss the tolos airdop when it was in december! But anywat good i did find it now!

So you participated in EOS ICO? As the airdrop was for those who invested in EOS and has EOS at the genesis block
I had some and I received same amount of Telos
But if you didn't have big amount of EOS - don't worry
And Telos is cheap now

It looks like he is still looking for answers or just looking and doesn't participate in it but there is no problem when I see the response that will be told to you.

I don't know, let's hope we'll hear from Davide soon
By the way, I spoke with Telos community and I was told that this link to buy Telos with credit card works fine
https://buy.carbon.money/?tokens=tlos

But I personally prefer other options

Last update: November 4, 2020

The most recently updated list is here: https://cryptotexty.io/crypto-jobs-2020/

-----------------------------------

In these days of economic crisis, employment and jobs are important topic. I've checked many projects, crypto sites and made a list of 15 jobs.

Firstly I will feature the one, where I would apply if I was developer https://www.iovlabs.org/careers.html
Isn't this amazing to work on Smart contracts for Bitcoin?

I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this topic and/or links to other crypto jobs

And here is my full article:

Coronavirus already shaped many aspects of our society. But let's talk not about the economic damage which COVID-19 brought and will bring, but about some opportunities. As any crisis brings opportunities, now you can see that those people who work and can work remotely have anti-fragility, while many other people suffer from the loose or pause of their jobs.

Last times I was checking different cryptocurrencies, I checked of them from Top-100 Coinmarketcap list (and of course I constantly visit and check many other project, and "Top-100" is definitely not the main criteria for my crypto-interest).
May of crypto projects, foundations, associations have job listed on their sites.
I went through all of them, so I just scrolled, some read in details, and even applied to few)

Here I want to present you the list of the most interesting jobs I found. As I don't know when you will read this post - the jobs might change and vary. You know that crypto world is vert dynamic. So while I'm writing more jobs are created, and some vacancies are closing.

It won't be surprise that most of jobs are for developers. Often companies don't have open jobs, but mention of their web-site that they are constantly looking for talents and leave their e-mail. Some companies and crypto projects don't have Job or Career section at all, and some use headhunters and freelance sites like Upwork to find employees.

Telos Blockchain and Genobank.io Partner to Tackle Coronavirus Testing

Agerona to help users source test kits, with results written to the Telos blockchain

The Telos network will host new coronavirus app, Agerona.
Genobank.io is working with Telos to develop functionality.
Users worldwide will be able to order tests, control their own data.
The Telos Foundation and Genobank.io are set to launch an app that helps users source COVID-19 testing.

Telos Blockchain to Host Coronavirus Testing App

With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to hit hard, Telos has launched an initiative with Genobank.io to create an app, Agerona, that will help users gain access to low-cost testing.

The Telos blockchain will store the results anonymously, allowing users to share results with healthcare providers if they choose.

The app will be open source and offers users full control over their data. A new token issued by Genobank.io will be launched along with the app, set for an April release.

The full infrastructure will include “a mobile app for users, a processing interface for laboratories, a privacy-ensuring blockchain architecture, and sourcing and logistics solutions for low-cost COVID-19 tests and processing.”

Agerona to Enhance Coronavirus Tracking, Protect Privacy

The Agerona app will help users locate testing kits to order.

By scanning the test’s unique barcode and associate that test with an anonymous account on the Telos blockchain, results will be written to the network, with researchers able to read aggregated data and geographic information to help track the disease.

All this will still allow users to remain in control of their data and remain anonymous.

Douglas Horn, architect & whitepaper author of the Telos blockchain, said on the blog post announcing the project that:

“This project is a remarkable example of how individuals from around the world can come together to increase the tools we have to address global problems. Increasingly, we will see grassroots teams such as this rapidly providing solutions that governments cannot.”

For Genobank.io’s CEO Daniel Uribe, people have the right to learn of their COVID status without sacrificing privacy. The company has experience in “the fields of genomics, privacy laws, and decentralized DNA data wallets.”

The Agerona dapp will also have an experimental feature in which users can record a sound clip of their cough to submit to help with the development of an AI-based diagnostic tool.

Software company Forte Group has also been involved in the development of the application as part of its COVID-19 call to action initiative.

New app by Genobank.io will use Telos blockchain for COVID-19 testing

Work has begun among a global group of contributors on Agerona, an open-source tool to address the global health crisis

There is perhaps no more pressing problem for technologists to tackle right now than the COVID-19 crisis that is threatening lives and economies around the world.
In that spirit, Genobank.io and the Telos Foundation have partnered to develop an open-source app that will allow users to securely source low-cost COVID-19 testing. The results will be stored anonymously on the Telos blockchain, where each user will control their own data and have the ability to share their results with researchers, if they choose, using health privacy and a new token from Genobank.io.
A global, multidisciplinary team has been collaborating remotely in recent weeks, working in sprints to build a new mobile app for users, a processing interface for laboratories, a privacy-ensuring blockchain architecture, and sourcing and logistics solutions for low-cost COVID-19 tests and processing. The initial version of the app is expected to launch in April.
Any Agerona mobile app user will be able to find a source for the test kits in their country and order separately from the app to further enhance anonymity. When a user receives the test, they can scan the test’s unique barcode and associate that test with a free, anonymous account on the Telos blockchain which the user alone controls. The test kit can then be anonymously sent to a verified lab for processing. The receipt and processing of these tests will be tracked on Telos for transparency. Results will be written to the blockchain, but with no connection to any individual. Researchers will be able to read aggregate data from the system along with minimal geographic information (country and postal code, if provided) in order to better track the progress of the disease.
While testing is beginning to ramp up around the world, there is a growing concern that people outside health care systems or in marginalized populations may resist testing efforts due to fears of government action towards infected persons of various legal statuses. Genobank.io CEO Daniel Uribe and Telos contributors Douglas Horn and Suvi Rinkin originated the project to address these needs in the United States, but as new contributors came onboard, it became clear that this would need to be a global effort and rollout. Project contributors are based in the US, Iran, Israel, South Africa, the UK, and a rapidly growing list of other countries. International organizations are already expressing great interest in supporting the project. All open source components will be available to anyone to use and expand. Telos Foundation will work with teams in various countries that want to work with the official Agernoa by Genobank.io project to set up test kit supply and processing logistics in their country through the Agerona mobile app and website.

Image of COVID-19 virions by Felipe Esquivel Reed via Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons 4.0 license
“This project is a remarkable example of how individuals from around the world can come together to increase the tools we have to address global problems. Increasingly, we will see grassroots teams such as this rapidly providing solutions that governments cannot,” says Horn. “We built Telos precisely to enable this type of peer-to-peer interaction. It’s rewarding to see a number of Telos developers come together and contribute their own code and expertise in support of the technology and logistics that Genobank.io brings to the table. The synergies are enormous and I’m so proud of every Agerona contributor.”
Genobank.io’s Uribe notes, “We are honored to join this amazing team led by Telos Foundation and aim to contribute by sharing our experience in the fields of genomics, privacy laws and decentralized DNA data wallets to achieve the best privacy-preserving platform and an anonymous COVID-19 Test kit using the Telos Network. People have the right to know if they have the coronavirus without violating their privacy.”
The Agernoa dapp will also have an experimental feature where users can record a sound clip of their cough, if they choose, and submit it for the creation of an AI-based diagnostic tool. This tool, built on Genobank.io technology, will attempt to provide a way for people to perform an instant pre-test for the virus simply from the sound of their coughing.
More information will be available soon regarding the availability of the Agerona mobile app and test kits. Interested contributors and organizations are encouraged to contact the Telos Foundation via the Twitter handle @HelloTelos.
