261  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Blockchain the solution to gun violence? on: May 21, 2019, 01:51:54 PM
Ahh... I love those crypto media so much. This is how they are making their articles: Is blockchain a solution for *shuffle cards* gun violence? Seriously, just add some random bullshit from fighting the poverty to war stoppage and you are getting some fresh content for your crypto website.
in this case author of the article is claiming that blockchain would help to check the background of gun owners. But no one said that this background in its current form works bad. So they took the problem out of their head and offered a solution just to make some content.
That's bullshit.

If you think that background procedures are not a problem you definitely not live in the US. They are A MASSIVE problem. There are people who suffer from mental health conditions who are being sold guns! And this is mainly because the background check procedures are extremely inefficient.
Then please describe how our current background check works and why should someone waste a shit time of money in order to improve the thing that already works fine?
I bet that Police definetely have their own database with all gun owners and the ones that do not have a permission to have a gun. And for some reason they are not claiming that something works bad in that part.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Portfolio Strategy for Beginners: 100% Simple, Safe and Effective on: May 21, 2019, 01:39:51 PM
Cryptocurrencies can't be safe by default. So buying any kind of altcoins is only increasing the risk. And if you truely believe that some shitcoin like BNB would become the next ETH (no matter if it is faster or not) then it will surely be the same situation as with the other "bitcoin killers".
@OP, I really liked the way you have emphasized on fundamentals of the coins you had suggested! A lot of people tend to overlook this important parameter for various reasons! A lot of people only look at the pricing when it comes to short term profit. However, investment is about long term commitment which actually goes a long way, includes downside and upside both. The stronger you hold the ground, the bigger you gain!
He didn't show any reasoneble fundamental reason to invest in those alts. Every shitcoin have better described fundamentals in its whitepaper.
I agree about long term investments but it is far not always related to crypto. Many shitcoins that were popular back in 2017 are dead now. Seems like this long run was not on their side.
263  Other / Off-topic / Re: Investment in business or investment on Bitcoin? on: May 21, 2019, 01:19:38 PM
But once we taste the high returns from crypto investments then we are not going for traditional way of making money and this applies for most of the people so we prefer passive kind of return from any business and actively involve on cryptos for making more.
We can see absolutely the same story on the stock market. Generally bit investment funds are making about 15% in a year while  someone is just picking the other stocks and making more than 100%. Or you can even buy some penny stocks and wait until they moon (the same story as we see with shitcoins, right?). Does it mean that the ones who make 15% are stupid? Nope, they are just managing their risks so they could have small but steady profit.
So even on traditional market you can easily trade some more risky assets that would bring you more money (or losses).
264  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Make America Great Again vs. Keep America Great? on: May 21, 2019, 01:08:36 PM
wealth inequality is reaching insane levels,
What's bad in inequality? Why you all arguing that someone have more money than you?

Thats just not going to happen now, college educated people are lucky to make $20/hr and housing, college, and healthcare have soared past the inflation rate.
If you got a college degree in Photography, Journalism, or even Gender Studies then you are completely right, those people are lucky to get $20 per hour.

all you need to do is take a look at the homeless in San Francisco and Los Angeles to get a gauge on how the lower people live in America.
Nah, that example is not relevant.
Most of those people are homeless because they are mentally sick and government does not provide them the necessary treatment. Later they can't socialize and unable to work so those people are losing their homes.
There is nothing about the global economy there.
265  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Technology development taking us to? on: May 21, 2019, 12:50:36 PM
Sometimes I wonder where are heading in the future with all these developments on every field, for the better and happier life or just lazy life.Few years back mobiles were used for reaching the people from long distance but today it is everything and almost we are not caring anyone who is even sit next to us while we are using the mobiles.Just talk about it guys,if you have any ideas about where it leads us to.
The fact that you can play Angry Birds on your cellphone doesn't show us the technology development. You know why? Because there were no groundbreaking scientifical breakthroughs already for decades. Large corporations are providing better technologies but they don't make the same effect on the economy as for example had the invention of the steam engine.
Some bullshit like Snapchat right now worth millions (and sometimes this is really interesting things) but all this stuff have less effect on our lives than the invention of a calculator had before.
Tech development is not taking us anywhere now.

267  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to Reduce the Size of Government on: May 21, 2019, 12:21:24 PM

By the time they run through all the people in government, and the garbage collector resigns before he is executed, government problems will have straightened themselves out.
The problem is that if you would punish every politician that can't handle with his responsibilities then it creates a risk for qualified politicians to get the same punishment. So pretty soon you will simply run out of people that wanna work there and their place would be taken by a bunch of honest retards. Or no one would be pushing any initiatives because of those risks.
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kevin O'Leary's Take On Bitcoin! on: May 20, 2019, 04:52:46 PM

Do you know most of the personalities on TV? Even those who study economics usually end up on TV because they can be sensationalist but they otherwise suck at their job. It's not like being educated in something and then being on TV makes someone smarter, because there's a lot of braindead graduates from post-secondary these days that think their degree gives them the brains they so desperately lack.
Warren Buffett is also can be seen on similar shows. But it doesn't mean that he is a bad investor.

Anyway, many of those people that talk about market trends on TV don't have to be successful traders. It not always correlates with knowledge. Generally, if someone  is saying that he is making 1000% a year then it would rather be a bad trader.

The USD (along with fiat currencies in general) is literally based on the trust of the people that it will be usable and retain its value the next day. So long as that belief exists, so does the currency. If suddenly half the country didn't accept the USD anymore, the government would have to force them to accept it (which could lead to rebellion, which the gov't at large would lose) or a shaky belief in the currency is reinstated.

As for everything else, I more or less agree with you. There won't be any Bitcoin killers because their communities will never get remotely close to that which Bitcoin has. Ethereum was probably the best shot, and that petered out lol.
USD is backed by obligation of the federal government to collect trillions of dollars in taxes from residents and companies that operate in the united states. Those money are making USD stable, not someone else's blind trust.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kevin O'Leary's Take On Bitcoin! on: May 20, 2019, 04:07:25 PM
seems people dont understand basic economics
Sure. All those investors from TV know nothing about economics.

Anthony Pompliano states that
- Goes on to argue that bitcoin is a belief system, just as the US Dollar is
   - for two people who exchange bitcoin, it has value to each of them

Kevin mocks the halving, saying that it is too arbitrary.
-Goes on to denounce BTC further, saying it is “nothing but raw speculation” and is too volatile

Other reporter- “Well the problem is Bitcoin isn’t tied to anything”

seems 3 people have no clue.
firstly we all know gold has utility value. (circuits and jewellery) and ontop of that it actually costs more than 1cent to get it out of the ground.

imagine gold, exact same utility value, but anyone and his dog could mine gold using a cutlery spoon and a coffee filter in their own back yard. i guarantee you gold would be much much cheaper to buy because it only costs pennies to acquire from other means.

same with bitcoin the mining cost is not PoS(free) its PoW(costly) so bitcoin has underlying value based on cost of creation, so saying bitcoin is backed by nothing is hilarious
saying bitcoin is valued by only 2 people agreeing on a random price is hilarious.

seems people dont understand basic economics
The problem of comparison of BTC with gold is that Bitcoin is not gold and vice versa. And this is why all those "bitcoin killer" shitcoins will never become popular. If someone made something with some shit with values that are similar to gold it doesn't mean that people have to buy it.

About statements of those guys from the quote above:
1. Saying that USD is based on belief is a pure populism and just a stupid statement.
2. This is a fair point. BTC is realy a pure speculation. Hopefully with its further growth volatility would be lower.
3. That's the problem only if you are trying to evaluate BTC the same way as people do with stocks. Maybe cryptocurrencies need some other calculation methods.
270  Other / Off-topic / Re: Books or YouTube videos? on: May 20, 2019, 01:23:26 PM
Everything depends on the thing you want to learn and the current level of your knowledge. For example if you really want to get some deep knowledge in some fields then you definitely have to read books. Scientists are writing books about topics that are described on Wikipedia with a couple of sentences. So in this case books are really more informative.
But the other thing is if you are not understanding some particular topic during your university studies then you got pretty big chances to find something simple and understandable on YouTube.
271  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where in China can I find an Antminer recycling centre? on: May 20, 2019, 01:08:44 PM
It seems like first of all they should probably sell their used miners before trying to recycle it. I bet they won't have any problems with finding a customer.
Even if some mining farms are closing it doesn't feels like they need to build a separate recycling center. It is not reasonable just because there is not that much miners tht have to be utilized there.
Everything supposed to work as it works with other electronic things.
272  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a teammember for announcement an ngo on bitcointalk on: May 20, 2019, 01:03:04 PM
If you need a campaign management then as it was already mentioned you can just pick one of the trusted bounty managers. It seems like they are not charging high fees nowadays.
But if under "help with announcement" you mean only ANN thread without anything else then you better do it by yourself. You just need to get a Copper Mamber rank so you could post images.
Copper Member rank announcement is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2385104
273  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do you vote people to vote for you? Why do you use another mans money? on: May 20, 2019, 11:26:05 AM
Why do none of the world leaders agree that we need to stop the free press of fiat? That it enslaves the common man who is actually working. I will vote for whoever has the balls to step up and say we need a soft reset, but I rather vote myself not vote people to vote for me.
Do you really think that those world leaders are a bunch of cruel villains that are only thinking about how to abuse normal people.
This is how the system generally works: people are working in different companies, then government slightly devaluates its currency to those companies could get some benefit on global market which makes the economy of the country grow. Without this benefit countries like Germany of US all industry would die and people will loose everything.
So countries are just exchanging a tiny inflation into steady economic growth.
274  Economy / Economics / Re: Jobs Created by the Blockchain & Bitcoin on: May 20, 2019, 11:16:14 AM
Here are some of the jobs looking shouting out for qualified people to seriously take into: Entry level and internship positions, Blockchain project managers, Blockchain developers, Blockchain quality engineers, Blockchain legal consultants or attorneys, Blockchain web designers, Blockchain engineers.
The appearance of blockchain gave us blockchain developers? No shit! Dude, you've made a great discovery.
And what is the difference between a normal web designer and blockchain web designer? Is designing blockchain related websites somehow different from normal design? The fact that they create pictures with bitcoins doesn't make them specialists in another sphere. The same point is relevant to all other jobs you've mentioned. Maybe except blockchain devs.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Check if your exchange is fractional reserve day ? on: May 20, 2019, 11:06:27 AM
What if one day of the year, we got everyone to withdraw from the exchanges to see what exchanges are legit? and casinos.
I bet 80-90% of them would not have the btc to cover everyone.
Even if it happens like that exchanges would still have some arguments to legitimate their position. For example if exchange is holding big amount of cryptocurrency then it might be reasonable to hold some of those money in separate reserves due to some kind of security things.
I know nothing about cyber security but exchanges doesn't have to guarantee instant withdrawals at all times.
276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A notary office in China uses blockhain on: May 20, 2019, 10:27:29 AM
China is moving forward more more! I won't be mistaken if I say it's one of the main leaders of crypto industry. If they implement blockchain technology not only in the sphere of notarial services, but also in real estate or education, where it is important to confirm the authenticity of documents, this will allow them quickly access the data and ensure that they have not been replaced for the purpose of fraud
What stops them from creating a centralized database for education and for authentication of documents? Considering that it will be centralized in hands of "trusted" people it would still provide valid data.
Chinese government is extremely centralized. Small part of blockchain implementation is made in order to cut some costs and not supposed to make any desicion making process more pure.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTO FOR THE HOMELESS - DUNKIN DONUTS LIKES US TOO!!!! (discounted me too!) on: May 19, 2019, 06:14:12 PM
Please put up more information about this project not just some random picture of homeless people holding a piece of paper and bag of foods,
How could we know that the money that would be sent to those address would go to the homeless?
And how could we track the project? how could we know if the funds are being used solely to the homeless and not being used for personal purpose?
If you take look from the other side it would look like this guy forced hobos in his town to hold papers with crypto addresses and payed them with donuts. At lest that's what you can think about it if you don't know the details.

But the Idea with crypto donations is pretty good and imho it should be promoted even more. People that got a decent summ of money with almost no efforts (I do not consider hodling as something hard) they are more likely to donate some part of their money to someone.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The usage of the "bits" denomination with bitcoin on: May 19, 2019, 06:05:30 PM
I think one of the main reasons why people like to buy in on other coins/tokens(e.g. XRP, XLM, TRX, ADA) instead of BTC is that their prices are only in the cents range to a few dollars, compared to bitcoin which is currently at the 4 digit range(and probably soon back to 5). It isn't implausible to think that a good number of people might have been turned away from bitcoin and instead bought in on other coins and tokens due to the fact that they couldn't buy one full bitcoin, while they could buy dozens, hundreds, or thousands of the other coins. Basically, unit bias.
This is one of the most stupid issues in the crypto world. Somewhere in 2017 people were making different rankings with coins that are under $1. The most retarded thing was that people completely ignored its market cap and truely believed that if there is $1bln market cap with a shitcoin with couple cents price then it have more chances to x10 rather than  the same shitcoin with smaller MC.
Those cases are pretty stupid and you shouldn't try to determine any trends basing on them. So I would say that current stance of BTC is still fine.
279  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC the next exchange to become insolvent customers not able to withdraw fund on: May 19, 2019, 05:29:52 PM
This thing is pretty common for the other services that deal with fiat. You san have your funds on Skrill or PayPal and get your account freezed until you pass full KYC. This thing is also waiting for everyone who wants to trade forex.
There is nothing special about this until you follow their ToS. You should just remember that no one in the entire internet cares about scan of your ID. In dark web you can buy a full verification pack for about $2. If your documents had any worth they could be already stolen a dozen timed via some governmental bodies.
280  Economy / Economics / Re: A Tale of Two Socialisms on: May 19, 2019, 05:12:14 PM

Democracy is allowed as long as it only makes the system look good.  Socialist countries had real elections only at the town or village level.  The West has real elections only at the circus level.  Check and check, for filling positions of real power by 'indirect democracy.'
Just IMHO but it is pretty stupid to compare elections during socialism where people are not allowed to vote against their government (otherwise they are risking ti get killed) with the things that happen during democratic elections.

You really believe in this? In democracy as we have, the capital place everyone. mayors, judges, presidents, congress. Everyone. BobK71 is more then right.
Just compare the political system that was in USSR with system that was in capitalistic countries. Usually, during socialism you've got only 1 political party while at the same time in western countries there is a fight between several political powers. This thing is called politics.
Mayors, presidents and congress have to deal with the financial side of their work. And courts should not be affected by capital and normaly in US and EU judges are normaly independent and I can't say the same about courts in socialistic countries).
