server psus and cables.....  Similar to SP20 draw per cable? I wonder if anybody has taken any readings yet.

Both miners have 4 power connectors. The SP20 can draw significantly more power per cable.

4 cables at the kwatt meter = 552 watts  so 552 x .92 = 508 watts / 4 = 127 watts at the cable.

it must use 4 pcie cables 2 are not safe.

I am at freq 231.  I will test faster in 7 hours or so .  time to crash. I am tired.

Would I buy these yes , but I know I am changing out fans.

If I do buy some.

@ bick

is the sp20 not as loud.  if you down clock to better power numbers  like 1000 to  1300gh  it is better for sound.  I can spend $0 extra money  on a sp20.  but I can't see that with the s-5.

Now all of mine are in a home that I share with the wife.  We will be able to sleep tonight with no noise issues since I swapped out the fans on the s-5.  I am running 7 underclocked sp20's no extra money for sound mods need . Just down clocking.

For most of us that buy it the game with the s-5 will be what is the cheapest fan replacement that allows a good clock and decent sound.  I spent 27 for the two fans.  10 on ebay for the delta and 16 on amazon for the  silverstone.

When you say it is loud, is it louder than an S3 or quieter? Thanks for your quick review.

it is far louder then the s-3.

I am philipma1957.  I went to my other pc this only allows my backup account.

the s-3 is nothing compared to this.

if you want this in your house it will need fan mods.

In a shed or a barn  no big deal

67 or so DB? Like a truck driving by or your boss telling you to get off Bitcointalk again.

no 75db at one meter
my 2 fan swap dropped it to 60db with better pitch.

I boosted to freq 231  good solid numbers

552 watts for 1120 gh  that is better then .5 watt per gh

I don't know what these fans will allow safely but 1120 is good for now.

Oh yah, I got 0.4546179953399794 watts per ghs, so far. hehehe.

Good I will most likely do the switch on Weds.

Now I am running these two on a evga 1600p2

about 1985gh total

all good temps with fan at 15

power is  956 watts  so 956/1985 =  .48 watts at a meter

i am on my other pc (philipma1957)

These really good numbers which improve when I open the garage door and drop the garage temp about 5-10 degrees F.

Also this is my 'high' meter

the other one reads 938

I think that you have to measure watts at the wall with kill-a-watt or something similar.

Good point I will try that, I actually have one of the meters around the office somewhere. Now you got me wondering how big difference is going to be.

the 775 should be devided by .9 = 850 watts maybe 875 watts
268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 18, 2014, 04:52:52 PM
Wrong pc so I am using my second account.  I am philima1957

here is a screen shot of all 6 sp20's hash rates and settings.

I am using the new firmware
I almost bricked one of the six units doing the firmware upgrade.
You need to use higher settings like .68 .68 .68 .68   then max at .685  fans at 50 or more.
then when you do the rebooting the machine will start.  after it reboots and starts you can lower the fans to 20 or 30 and lower your settings.  as you see all of my six are hashing at 1300 or lower. and fans are 20 or 30.  my attached garage is less noisy.  I can do more machines  my power is 6 x 700 = 4200 watts.  the garage has 5 circuits in it that means I can push to 7k watts safely. I think I could run 9 of these. Have to wait a bit to decide if  I order 3 more.

I finally got one of these SP20's ordered up! I hope it lives up to Philip's praises  Cheesy I was hoping that I had a single PSU to run it, but now I am not so sure? I have several LEPA 1600's sitting around and some Corsair 1200AXi's. I suppose maybe dual CX750's would do the trick.

well if you want to under clock they are easy.

Overclock is harder a pair of cx750's will give you enough power to max your unit's hash power.

Fan at 90 is loud,  and you need a cold room.  you will use 1200-1300 watts to do 1650-1750
271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: December 09, 2014, 10:12:11 PM
Phil did you try for a lower number? I have a few evga 1300 g2 psu's   .  If you can run two sp20's on the 1300 I may buy 2.

I have 3 s-3 on my evga 1300 G2 they do 1470 gh at 1215 watts. Set to freq 243.75

If I can do 2 sp20's and get 2300 gh for 1215 watts that would be a huge improvement.

Those Alibaba links are scam.

Guy

The price is very low too good to be true,

275  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Do we need a cloud mining section? (Poll) on: November 28, 2014, 04:33:37 AM
yeah people do need it.  even if we make a comparison chart .

 based on prices
based on flexibility

based on safety of the company. ie will they cut and run.

I played with cloud mining and for myself I only keep a pinky in  more often to make coin transfers and have a pool service.

Well it is still negative as of today.

Look at this nice trend. Nice if you're a miner, that is.

Yeah I think low growth is sticking around for now.

Well it looks to be  at just under 2% with  5 1/2 hours to go

we have 95 confirms on the second block.

I do not know why but I feel like  we will hit 2 more in the next 666 minutes. I feel this pool is about to have the most amazing hot streak that I have ever seen in my 2.5 years of mining.

from your prediction's date  and time we have done very well. We just may break the bank with this  luck.
279  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [PAUSED] ASICMiner Prisma 1.4th/s - 1.47 BTC on: November 10, 2014, 06:35:05 PM
I am pointing the IR probe to the same transistor from tube to tube. This particular transistor is the worst case. I inspected/reseated the hot problem board already and I see nothing abnormal with it.

Another important point: The high temp will be reached even in the case of the prisma just being on, and not hooked up to BE controller and actually hashing.

I cannot confirm that all the problem hashing boards exhibit this kind of temp, some more research to be done today mixed in with some real work  Tongue

take them offline now!

exact amount of boards bad = 4

exact amount of boards GOOD = ?
