261  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How committed are you to BitCoin? on: June 03, 2011, 10:17:22 PM
I'm in about 10% of my total investments (admittedly small, but I'm poor).

I'd drop it in a heartbeat if I see a possible loss or other problem or if returns slow too much.

I don't believe in it as a currency.  There are so many glaring issues that need to be addressed that people just seem to ignore when brought up.  Also, the market is so volatile right now, I would never spend a single coin for fear it would rally again.

I treat it like I do my gold reserves.  Stockpile and dump if I see problems coming.

Updated to make a bit clearer.
263  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Dummy Plugs/ Multiple GPUs on: June 03, 2011, 06:10:56 PM
Just build a dummy plug, all you need are some resistors and a dvi/vga adapter/port.
I used to do this, but everytime my PC would restart or power went out, it was a bitch doing this every day!

Dummy plugs, no worries!

My linux server has 186days uptime.  Where do you live that power goes out that frequently?

Go ahead and clicky :p

I chose you because Mister Mosquito was a sweet game.

Somebody choose me.  If I get a referral signup I'll post pictures of my cat.  And he's awesome.  He kills squirrels.  Won't somebody think of the squirrels?!?!?

I've had EnableUlps set to 0 for quite some time (Crossfire related problem with 1 card randomly going to 0% load).  I can confirm that this will NOT allow you to start mining on a GPU that doesn't have a monitor attached.

My solution.  My monitor has 3 inputs.  I plug my 2 cards in to it.  1 DVI 1 DVI-VGA.  Start mining and overclock 1st card, hit switch input, start mining and overclock 2nd card.
266  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Turn your BTC in to Steam Games! on: June 03, 2011, 04:43:27 PM
How does it work exactly?  Will I end up with a separate steam account for the game or will the game show up in my existing account somehow?

I would purchase it as a gift and send it via email.
267  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Turn your BTC in to Steam Games! on: June 03, 2011, 03:59:46 PM
Not buying yet, just interested in a price

Fable 3 Code? I accidently used mine on the wrong Windows Live account, and need a new one so all of my acheivements can go to the right one

It would be 13.06BTC
268  Bitcoin / Pools / Slush's Pool Rainmeter plugin on: June 03, 2011, 09:59:37 AM
Quickly whipped this together for rainmeter users.

It's not pretty, but it works.  I can't get it to retrieve the stats over HTTPS, so don't consider any of this information secure.  Including the payout wallet address which gets sent but not displayed.

The only useful information that I can get it to pull is username, unconfirmed reward, confirmed reward, estimated reward on current block, and then some simple math for total (I exclude the estimated)

It's ugly, it's almost useless, and the code is terribly formatted (I suck at regex)

Saying that.. It's free and you are free to edit or use for derivative works with no restrictions.

You have to edit line #17 of the only file and add your API Token

Totally replied to your PM! Payment sent!

Thanks!
271  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Sellling Steam games for BTC 5% discount! on: June 03, 2011, 07:11:23 AM
Name the game.  I'll reply with a cost (5% discount off current lowest ask price on mtgox), and address.  I recommend Clearcoin with donation to charity for orphaned funds for buyer protection.  The price will be based off the United states current price for games.

Edit: My feedback on eBay is a decent indication that I am on the level  http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=tk13kfm&ftab=AllFeedback

I will gift to any email address.  I will only do this a few times though as I don't want to risk my steam account.
272  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Junk Silver 5% under spot on: June 03, 2011, 06:15:53 AM
I have a decent sized collection of "junk" silver coins.  None of them are actual junk, but that's the term that is used for pre-1965 US coins that are 90% silver.

It is a great and cheap way to purchase silver cheaply.

I will accept bitcoins or mtgox for payment.  Shipping is to be paid by you.  You choose the method.

I will lock the purchase price at the time of your PM based on current kitcosilver.com price -5%.  Bitcoins due will be set at time of payment based on current rate on mtgox.

I'd like to avoid paypal, but if you must, you must.

You can buy as little as 1 pre 1965 dime.

As an example.  Current price would be $2.60 - 5% = $2.47.  BTC at the current rate would be .23BTC

Edit: As I think more about this I would like to use something like clearcoin with a charity escrow if you don't release.  I believe this is the safest for both of us.

I have mostly roosevelt dimes.  11 liberty dimes.  40 standing liberty quarters.
273  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Play BlackJack with Bitcoins! on: June 03, 2011, 06:08:19 AM
That was a scary Bitcoin Smiley.. Got down to .3 left, but cashed out back up at 1.43 Smiley

Lol, I won't play more until it's more complete, but I already believe it's fair based on what I saw.

Couple more suggestions:

Auto win on blackjack. (I shouldn't be allowed to hit)
Auto counting
274  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Machines - are YOU doing it wrong? on: June 03, 2011, 05:10:37 AM
you can ?
how ... not that I have the GPU's though

There are x16 -> 4 x4 risers out there, I'm sure one could be made with some connectors and ribbon cables if you had the talents.

Of course you'd have to power the slots separately.

I'm not 100% sure on how this would work, but I know it's technically possible.

I won't play blackjack without a split option, it simply favors the house too much without this option.
Really? I must admit that I didn't calculate the odds when I made this site. You said that insurance would up the house advantage. Doesn't that compensate for the yet missing split option? Grin

Can't tell if trolling or incredibly stupid...

Lol, just kidding.  Yeah, to me it's not worth playing.  I do have to give you credit though in paying 3:2 on blackjack.  Half the tables I sit at are 6:5 or /gasp 1:1

I think you can't. In the end you have to trust me. I would suggest that if you mistrust me you first just play with small bets, and then increase them. In fact many users seem to do that. The first deposits where just some bitcents and are now getting more. But even then you'd have to trust me, since in theory I could tell the software to play honest on small bets, but cheat on higher ones. I can only give you my word that I don't do that!

I've seen that other side provide an md5 checksum to prove they're not cheating. But I'm not sure how I could use that here, given how I shuffle the cards. Any ideas on this? I'd totally implement this feature as I of course know that having prove is better than just believing.

Another idea that comes to my mind right know is to display some public statistics. Display the results of the games? Of course without user names, but with or without bets? Or even making every game public, so you could see if a streak of lost games was caused by bad luck or some non-ideal decisions of the player.

I'm not sure how an md5 checksum would help.  I really don't even understand what they are.  I know you can use them to verify a value, but past that I don't get how it would help.

I guess, like you said, I'd just have to trust you.  I guess the same can be said for a real casino.  But online if you get caught cheating they don't take you in the back room and break your kneecaps.
276  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Machines - are YOU doing it wrong? on: June 02, 2011, 09:38:36 AM
OK ;-p
[I just have a few mini ITX boards lying round]

You could run 4x cards on that board, the wiring would get a bit tricky, but it could be done.  You'd probably want to power the ports individually, and you'd have to find a way to mount them, but it could be done.
277  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Machines - are YOU doing it wrong? on: June 02, 2011, 09:02:06 AM
The processor overhead for 5x cards is almost nothing.  The only cost concern is the motherboard.  With the cables to run x16 cards off an x1 slot you can get 5x cards on many $80-100 boards.

The cost of buying a separate motherboard for every GPU in your mining rig is just not cost efficient.

GPU Mining WILL become unprofitable at some point.  I've seen estimates from 1 month to 2 years.  I just dropped $280 on 2 5850's (I got my sources), and I should be able to pay them off within 1 month.

The best part is, the 5850 is also a great gaming board and should hold its value fairly well until the 7 series cards debut.
278  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Play BlackJack with Bitcoins! on: June 02, 2011, 07:04:13 AM
I know insurance is a sucker bet, but it would nice to have it implemented (ups the house advantage)

Things I'd like to know before playing.
Does the dealer hit on Soft 17?
Doubling allowed on any total or 9,10,11 only or 10,11 only?
Shuffle after every hand?

SPLIT!

I won't play blackjack without a split option, it simply favors the house too much without this option.

My final concern.  How can we be sure you haven't altered the odds drastically in the house favor?  Return a value from random.org, 9/10 times let it go through as is, if it's not favorable request another random to favor house.

It would simply take too many hands to determine if many losses are a string of bad luck or deliberate manipulation by the software.
279  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin treasure hunt mobile app on: June 02, 2011, 05:54:01 AM
GPS location can be spoofed, just so you know.

If a user were to quickly iterate through brute force or smarter they could quickly narrow down exact location and claim it without leaving home.
