261  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK](SFI) Seedcoin Fund I on: January 22, 2014, 10:17:58 AM
We are considering a project in Eastern Africa but not in that state.
Cheers!
While I'm still unconvinced by this project, mostly because of Havelock's involvement, I sincerly appreciate this ironic and fun response (seriously, no pun intended).

Well I have be talking to Havelock since August 2013 and I can tell you the due diligence on Seedcoin has been very thorough and we had a very high number of exchanges before agreeing on the process and approving the offering. I am grateful to Havelock for letting us offer Seedcoin Fund units to their members and providing funds to these Bitcoin startups. Investments in startups, being involved in crypto activities or not, are always risky but sometimes risk can pay off well, and Havelock is one of the few options available for anyone to invest in these startups.

More info on the Eastern Africa venture coming soon...

Just my 2 satoshis - I really think offering the zSIM alternative to M-PESA (or maybe in collaboration?) would be an amazing opportunity, not only for bitcoin but also the unbanked of Africa.
262  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-01-21 taxresearch.org.uk - eliminate "the" Bitcoin on: January 22, 2014, 12:36:55 AM
If someone here is ever up against him in a public forum, call him out for what he is - a bigot. Someone who refuses to change their prejudice no matter what the evidence.

263  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-21] World’s First Bitcoin Derivatives Platform Surpasses $35M in Trades on: January 22, 2014, 12:25:36 AM
And so everyone's aware - btc.sx is funded by the Seedcoin Fund (1) - SFI on Havelock.
264  Economy / Securities / Re: [Mpex.co] The biggest scam in bitcoin history? on: January 22, 2014, 12:20:43 AM
While there is an obvious disagreement with their business model, is it really a scam? I'll go back to a prior statement of mine about Bitbet...

With any MP backed venture, you can expect to get exactly what they say you will get, no more, no less. While the outcome is arguably unfair, it is exactly what you would expect them do.

The rules seem to be clear, if you don't like them, don't play.

I suppose you're right. It's not a scam as such, because it's all out in the open and delivers exactly what it promises.

Caveat Investor
265  Economy / Securities / Re: [Mpex.co] The biggest scam in bitcoin history? on: January 21, 2014, 11:07:36 PM
Funny how people outside of bitcoin assets who live in the real world tend to agree that mpex is a scam/bullshit
reddit karma does not cost anything - interesting, don't you think?

And since you've read this thread, you at least have found that:
statement 1 is incorrect: 30 BTC and goes to MPOE
statement 2 is incomplete: it has futures and options, options which are actually most of MPOE's revenue
statement 3 is correct
statement 4 is... what does it mean?

So indeed, you can gain reddit karma by saying things that are blatantly misinformed. Go get some more karma, then.

Well, this is my statement so let me clarify:

Statement 1: Holy Shit! You need to pay this scammer US$24,000 before you're even allowed to buy any of his scammy stocks
Statement 2: Fine, I stand corrected. Although I still reserve my judgment on this.
Statement 3: You've just paid this scammer $24,000 so please feel privileged that you're now allowed to pay him some more.
Statement 4: Now I can see why this statement confuses you, as you are clearly far divorced from the real world if you think MPEx offers anything of value to anyone other than Mircea Popescu.

Doing something in the real world means just that. Apple makes computers, Facebook runs a social network based advertising service. NeoBee is launching a bank, MintSpare wants to refurbish old electronics and resell them (I think they're way overvalued, but they are aiming to do something in the real world).

MPOE pays Mircea Popescu.
BitBet is mildly interesting and does operate in the real world. It pays Mircea Popescu.
Ministry of Games does nothing but pay Mircea Popescu.
No Such lAbs talks about cryptography and does nothing. But it pays Mircea Popescu.
266  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Business Idea (advice needed) on: January 21, 2014, 09:46:54 PM
I'm just coming on to echo what others have said -

Don't be afraid of telling people your idea. It's the only way you'll get honest feedback.

If your only protection is secrecy, your idea will either fizzle out as you strangle it to death, or be copied by someone bigger and better as soon as it gets to market.

You need to offer something genuinely unique, whether it's the idea itself, the business model around the idea, or your network of contacts that makes it a success.

Apple weren't the first computer maker on the market - their innovation lay elsewhere. TomTom don't own any patents, Garmin have loads - who is the bigger success?

Anyway, I'm rambling. Best of luck. But secrecy isn't as much an advantage as you think it is.
267  Economy / Securities / Re: [Mpex.co] The biggest scam in bitcoin history? on: January 21, 2014, 09:17:39 PM
Oh good.  This thread again.

Quote
There is a reason there are no real stocks listed on mpex and never will be. There is a reason no other real world exchange or business operates like mpex.

Real compared to what?  Are you criticizing MPEx for not listing every scam that comes across it's doorstep like Havelock and Cryptostocks?

Havelock currently lists 17 stocks, giving 14 unique offerings. Around 6-7 of these are for mining companies, 2 are for banking operations and 1 is for an investment fund into a package of bitcoin startups.

Almost every one of these offerings is doing more for the world of bitcoin than the 4 stocks on MPEx. And none of them funnel money directly into the pocket of the owner of the exchange.
268  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK](SFI) Seedcoin Fund I on: January 21, 2014, 05:10:22 PM
But don't be worried by a lack of dividends, because not every big company even pays them.

Two famous examples are Berkshire Hathaway and Apple.
269  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: January 21, 2014, 03:15:25 PM

Thanks very much! Anything shown yet on PIK1/2?

270  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of gold manipulation on: January 21, 2014, 09:32:31 AM
Mikcik,

You get easily excited. Whilst a futures market is good for stabilising the prices of recurring goods, such as wheat or pork bellies, it is purely speculative with regards a fixed asset like gold.

No amount of 'wishing' (i.e. futures contracts) is going to get more gold out of the ground, and certainly not in the quantities required to satisfy the existing contracts.

It is this rampant speculation and dishonesty which led to multiple bank failures in 2008.
271  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK](SFI) Seedcoin Fund I on: January 21, 2014, 01:08:44 AM
How long will the dividends be paid from the first fund? If the second fund is started the dividends from the first fund stops?

There is no time limit for dividends as long as startups are profitable and decide to pay out dividends and as long as SFI still owns shares in that company, 100% of the dividends entitled to SFI will be paid out to the unit holders on Havelock pro-rata of their unit holdings. Any dividends from SFI and from subsequent funds (SF-2 and so forth) are entirely unrelated so payment of dividends from one Seedcoin fund does not prevent payment of dividends from another Seedcoin fund.

May I ask about payments upon the sale of companies in SF-1? Will shareholders also be paid out pro-rata?

Many thanks!
272  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of gold manipulation on: January 21, 2014, 12:59:58 AM
Mikcik,

Why do you think it's ok to sell something you don't have?

What if I offer to sell you a car now, just so long as you don't take possession of it for 5 years. Interested?

OMG! :-) you dont get it :-D... Are majority of people speaking about the gold manipulation like you...?

Google Futures+market

or look here

Future markets are a normal thing in a financial world... its no conspiracy...

(you people didnt know that?)

Check here:

You managed to side-step my question.

Let me ask it again - Do you think it's OK to sell something you don't have?
273  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: ChromaWallet (colored coins): issue and trade private currencies/stocks/bonds/.. on: January 20, 2014, 11:35:28 PM
Can you give an estimate of how long it will be before colored coins are ready for commercial use?

I believe that  we'll have a ChromaWallet version which is "good enough" by the end of January.

Once coloured coins become standardised (and are we going to have issues with the UK/US spelling of 'color/colour'?), do you think BTC stock exchanges (Havelock, Cryptostocks) will be encouraged to use them?

275  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: January 20, 2014, 08:21:37 PM
At this point no one will buy them before the official grand opening.

Not with that attitude they won't Wink

I'm an investor, and I'm holding back on buying extra shares at this stage, as I imagine many other are.

Show me an updated website, some literature, proof that things are progressing (albeit slowly) on a regular basis, and I'd buy more.
276  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of gold manipulation on: January 20, 2014, 11:37:43 AM

(blah blah blah)

So for example the situation with german gold... you see this all as a "hoax" and thus it wont have any impact on the future price of gold...?

The german situation is exactly what I am talking about.

Do you think the US did not propose to give the germans the "money equivalent" of the missing gold ? Don't you guess why the germans did not accept ?

Because there is no way they could buy back the same quantity of gold on the markets with that money. The London price is NOT the price at wich you can buy or sell any significant quantities of gold.

Interesting development. I last heard of the German gold problem a few months ago.

It also shows the Germans are also unhappy holding large amounts of US$…which would mean 'backing' their economy with US$ and ending up at the whims of the US economy at large, rather than a solid asset (gold).
277  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPVO] [Multiple Exchanges] Neo & Bee - LMB Holdings on: January 20, 2014, 09:30:54 AM
Anyone guess what share price might end up, on opening or later? I am hoping for .01 at least.

I would suggest hoping for something more realistic like .0035BTC/share. There's still alot of shares that need to get knocked down in the coming months before N/B starts to see an upswing.

Of course, this depends on the final value of the company (and with a bank, that could be very large indeed, if successful) and the rate of BTC/US$.
278  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Removing incentive to mine in pools on: January 19, 2014, 11:53:10 AM
I'm still reading, I just don't think this conversation is progressing with just the two of us.
279  Economy / Securities / Re: [XXXProfit] IPO - Established, Profitable Business - Pays Every 15 Days w/ Bonus on: January 19, 2014, 02:46:33 AM

Well I know that, but ABitInterested said that he didn't want to move to an exchange, so until he does we'll have to do it via posts.

For the record I am not opposed to an exchange. I am not familiar with the details of getting everything moved over and I haven't had the extra time to learn so far. Also, I am in discussions with someone regarding a large share purchase which might cover all of the remaining shares. If that goes through I plan to turn this thread into a buy / sell thread on shares for everyone else and assist in those trades in any way I can. Again, I am not opposed to an exchange but I have a lot to learn before going that route and adding complications isn't optimal.

Thanks

I know, right? Like, why would you want to attract massive investment from a large cohort of people through an independent third party when you've got suckers lining up right here?
280  Economy / Securities / Re: Cryptostocks Turnaround on: January 18, 2014, 02:25:51 PM
Do you suggest a better platform that doesn't have a ridiculous 50 BTC "buy-in"? Unfortunately, due to a few recent horror stories of fake companies scamming investors it is no longer accepted to sell shares outside of a service.

If you actually have something to offer, MPEx is your sole option atm. If you don't have something to offer, that's pretty much the end of that; you can work towards making your thing worthwhile, or else join the ranks of those who've tried to make it work somehow on any of the play pretend exchanges that have popped up and crumbled over the years. As you've noted, that doesn't turn out so well for anyone involved.

See here.

Don't forget that MPOE-PR is literally the paid PR wing for MPOE (MPEx).

And as you bring it up - can you tell me which securities are currently listed on MPEx?

Is loading a webpage too hard for you? mpex.co shows the stocks s.MPOE, s.BBET, s.MG, and s.NSA.

So nothing worth investing in then.

Havelock is where the future of bitcoin is being made - NEOBEE, SFI, CFIG. All interesting stuff.

Have any of those three produced a financial report for investors? All the MPEx stocks have monthly reports,

Hilarious. And all 4 (yes, four) MPEx stocks are owned by…guess who? Go on…guess. Alright - Mircea Popescu!

So, you get to pay MPEx 50 BTC for the privilege of paying MP even more BTC.

What an honour!

But hey, at least they're producing a financial report each month. Not that the companies they back actually do anything or plan on doing anything. Except taking your money of course.
