261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin after the collapse of the Dollar on: April 20, 2014, 10:07:47 PM
If the fed continues to taper we are heading to a deflation and a collapse in the stocks markets dragging along everything else including bitcoin.
if they finally understand their Keynesian policies are wrong and allow the market to correct itself the dollar may still be saved.
my personal belief is that once the s&p 500 goes -50% 2008-2009 style the fed will start QE4 and continue inflating the dollar away.
if that happens everything including bitcoin will shoot up in price until confidence in the dollar is completely lost and it begins to be dumped along with u.s treasuries, this will create massive inflation and most likely a u.s default on its debt.

this will definitely bring the spotlight on bitcoin and gold.

Interesting...

So you don't think the next round of QE is guaranteed regardless of what happens?
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin after the collapse of the Dollar on: April 20, 2014, 09:21:01 PM
I have read a lot recently about the pending collapse of the Dollar.

The amount of currency being printed is insane, the US are shipping their inflation across the globe by printing so much money, and when it comes home to roost, it's going to destroy the Dollar. There will be hyper inflation at worst, but a total lack of confidence in the Dollar and formation of a new world monetary system at best.

Already China are buying up all the gold and there's real credible talk of China linking their currency to Gold. It'll be the only currency in the world backed by anything and there will be a massive rush to get it pushing the value up. It'll be the end of the petro-Dollar as we know now for international trade and world reserve currency.

There's also rumours of gold being professionally debased, bars drilled out and filled with Tungsten metal. If it's the American government doing this, it's exactly the same thing that ended the Greek empire and the Roman empire.

So, either this year or next when the Dollar collapses and the Yuan takes over, what are the credible options for Bitcoin?

In theory the price in dollars should rise in line with the massive inflation, but that will be dependant on people spending their worthless Dollars on Bitcoin, maybe they will, maybe they wont. There will definitely be a rush to dump worthless fiat currency and go for something solid, either gold, a gold backed Yuan, stocks (maybe?), property (again risky?), Bitcoin?

263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two guys are chasing a Bitcoin thief on: April 17, 2014, 02:13:57 PM
If he sends them in small chunks to localbitcoins and sells them for cash, how will the people tracking him ever know they have been through LBC?

On the blockchain will the transactions just look like small amount of BTC moving to one address then out to another?
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: PAYPAL STARTED MASSIVE ACCOUNT BAN ON ANYTHING BITCOIN RELATED on: April 15, 2014, 02:46:04 PM
I have never had a problem.

I sold all sorts on ebay with Paypal.

I sold around £1500 worth of mining contracts and around £7000 worth of mining rigs with Paypal over the last 3 months.

The only thing I have had an issue with is Gumtree, deleting my ads for containing the word bitcoin.

Why is there no volume for this coin on any of the exchanges?

And why hasn't it been added to Cryptsy yet?
266  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK Banks - HMRC have the power to empty your account on: March 20, 2014, 04:25:18 PM
I'm a UK based anarchist and tax resister. This new power effectively means I keep no more than £5k in fiat at any one time. Aside from the start of the month when bills go out, I usually keep my fiat under £3k anyway, but this is still important to bear in mind.

Yeah you're fine, how about small businesses?

Imagine a small business with £10k a month in salaries. They receive an incorrect tax bill that's disputed so don't pay.

HMRC proceed to wipe out their bank account and leave them with £5k.

Salaries don't get paid.

Worker's mortgages don't get paid.

Depending on how long it takes to claim the money back, company can't pay for materials to fulfill orders.

Company goes bust.

Everyone loses.
267  Other / Politics & Society / UK Banks - HMRC have the power to empty your account on: March 20, 2014, 01:40:09 PM
Interesting article. UK government now no longer need a warrant or to win a court case to empty our bank accounts, they can do it and leave anyone with as little as £5,000.

268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 18, 2014, 03:20:08 PM
The bitcoin transactions you did - could it be inked to a known bitcoin trader/exchange? localbitcoins?

Using localbitcoins worries me a bit, in that you could end up dealing with someone caught/suspected of money laundering further down the road, and find yourself implicated.

Quite possibly, I sold with Localbitcoins, but I didn't have many transactions go through this account. I have had a far higher number go through one of my HSBC accounts and never heard a thing from them.

Even if I sold BTC to someone that's caught laundering, why should that mean the closure of my own bank account?
269  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 18, 2014, 01:21:52 PM
First time i hear about such bank any way, where in the name of hell did you find it.

Just move to some normal banks.

They're one of the biggest banks in the UK.

They're part of the Lloyds HBOS group, which actually, I think is the biggest retail bank in the UK.

I spoke to a branch manager today and she said that she was told by the closure team that it was being closed due to an internal review and that's all that they would say.

So it seems that I will not be able to get an explanation why. I see what happens with my other accounts and if I have problems then I will pay the £10 to CIFAS and check out what's recorded against my name.
270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 17, 2014, 07:47:57 PM
Ask them if they registered info with CIFAS (a not-for-profit that allows banks and other companies to share information about frauds).

You can pay a £10 fee to see a copy of the information they hold (a “subject access request”).  If there is any information registered against your name and you disagree with it, you can dispute it.

Thank you for that, I will give that a shot.

looks exactly like the same letters intersango used to get. same format and everything we'd receive these out of the blue and be told to move banks within 1 week despite it taking 20 days to open bank accounts. if you don't want this to happen you need to be part of the bankers private club.

Did they register you or the company with the fraud agencies or just shut down the account and tell you to move on?
271  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 17, 2014, 06:39:04 PM
Try Britannia.  You have a mortgage with them so it might make the application process easier.

Yeah I would, however they don't do a current account, only savings accounts as far as I can see.
272  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 17, 2014, 06:24:26 PM
Credit unions are an option, however they aren't brilliant for direct debits / debit cards and I need my account for that.

I did call the bank, and yes I agree the letter is pretty poor. It does look like it was written by a child.

Yes there are other banks here - but read my post, I tried to get an account with another bank but they turned it down.

Read this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18540832

Quote
Once an account is closed, fraud prevention agencies put a flag against the customer's name so they cannot normally then open an account with another provider.

Mr Phillips said: "You cannot find out what you're accused of, you cannot plead your case and you find yourself unable to open a bank account and nothing can be done about it. What's happening goes absolutely against the rules of natural justice."
273  Economy / Trading Discussion / Halifax Bank UK - Account Closed on: March 17, 2014, 05:36:30 PM
I have no idea whether or not this is Bitcoin releated, but today I received this:

I contacted Halifax, spent 30 minutes on the phone only to be told an internal review highlighted my account as 'no longer suitable' and that is literally all they would say. The guy I spoke with said that the closure team that sent me the letter would not give any more information than that.

I went to my branch and they couldn't tell my anything else. It was getting close to closing time so they said they would make some calls tomorrow, however the notes on their screen on my account said a 60 day closure notice had been issued and just said 'following a review'. I fully expect the bank manager to get nowhere with this too and to tell me that it's just following a review too.

The problem for me now is this: I tried to sign up to a first direct account and got denied.

How is this possible?

What the hell am I supposed to do without a bank account in 60 days now? How do I pay my mortgage and how do I get my salary paid?

I have 0 debt other than my mortgage of about £180k, but that is with Britannia and just goes out as a DD payment of £1,300 a month. I have no credit cards, I have no store cards, no hire purchase and no bad credit history.

I got a statutory report from Equifax and it's all green, I have 0 bad debt and 0 missed payments, ever.

My Halifax account is always a few thousand in credit, I never use the overdraft. My salary goes in, my mortgage and bills go out.

I have used it for a couple of bitcoin sales only, maybe a total of £2000-5000 at most in 3-4 sales. I have also paid in 2 lots of £2,500 in cash from other sources recently.
274  Other / MultiBit / 'Transaction not found' on: March 12, 2014, 12:03:09 PM
I use multibit. I created a new wallet within multibit as I do from time to time to move my coins.

I sent 0.1 BTC from my old wallet to my new wallet to make sure it went across OK. It did, so I sent the other bitcoins (19 BTC) from my original wallet to my new wallet.

That went OK too.

Both transactions showed in Multibit as seen by 4 peers awaiting confirmation.

After nearly half an hour, the first transaction of 0.1 BTC has 2 confirms. I can click on show transaction details and see it on block explorer and blockchain.info.

The second transaction for 19 BTC still shows as seen by 4 peers. When I click on show transaction details it comes up as transaction not found on blockchain.info. The first transaction showed up on blockchain.info well before it got its first confirmation.

So why doesn't the 19 BTC show up?

They are now not in my original wallet and still pending in my new wallet and unspendable. Where have they gone?
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: just been hacked all btc gone trojan in minerd for maxcoin on: March 11, 2014, 09:44:37 PM
somehow someone or something has got into my pc and stole all my bitcoin.
Sounds like a personal problem to me. See my signature.

Don't come whining here again, or I will be forced to point out all the red flags in your obvious and despicable money-grab of a post.

The most obvious indicator that your post is utter bullshit is this, "someone or something". What a dipshit you are. GTFO.

Why don't you try spinning your tales on the forums for altcoins? Those people are probably less intelligent than the Bitcoin community.

Wow, you're a dick

I have the UK broker account with TDW and cash available, but as the guy above said - why not just invest yourself if it's not illegal?

Is there even a GUI Windows wallet yet?

All I see is the maxcoind which is console...I don't even know how to get my payment address from that.

279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] doge.scryptpools.com - DOWN UNTIL PENDING PAYOUTS ARE PROCESSED on: January 28, 2014, 09:39:21 AM
Almost everyone here believes me to be a scammer.

Please believe me when I tell you all that I am truly sorry for the dogecoins that are owed to you.

Another pool operator has been very kind to me over these past few days and is helping me get through this. You have no idea how badly I feel about this situation. It is draining the life out of me every second of every day.

My words may mean nothing to most of you, but this is the truth.

It is not possible for me to purchase the amount of dogecoins that are owed to many of the miners of my pool. When I first realized this, I abandoned my ship. It was foolish for me to do this and the fact that I did that will make it much harder for anyone to believe a word out of my mouth. I don't blame you but please, read my thread from the beginning, and I hope you can see from the start I gave my pool everything I had.

The person I am working with has encouraged the idea of reopening my pool and has agreed to run it with me to make sure there are no issues with double payouts. Any owed balances will be paid using any and all fees that my pool collects. If / when the owed balances are settled in full, the person who is helping me will take full control of the pool. You will no longer have to deal with me. I'm not cut out for this, and I realize that. This was my first pool and will be my last pool. This is a terrible situation for all of my miners and I'm sorry that I couldn't fix the problems with my pool.

It's not easy coming to this forum and reading the things people are saying. I'm not a bad person. I've done right my whole life. I will do everything I can to right this ship and make things right.

So whatever happened to this?

He was reopening a pool and going to pay everyone out, but now hasn't been active since 10th Jan....

I guess it's never going to happen...
280  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Payouts....not as expected on: January 14, 2014, 10:18:58 AM
Yeah makes me wonder why I am even bothering to mine it.

I seem to be getting approx 2/3 of the amount I am supposed to get.

At that rate I may as well mine LTC or FTC.
