261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining profitability is a joke on: October 08, 2014, 07:09:18 AM
you guys must not be looking at the right coins, x4 7950 and x4 280x's and handful of cpus net me currently 0.033 btc a day.

I don't buy this for a second, ive mined everything there is, x11-15, cryptonote, cryptonite, xgm, xpm, renting at a premium, and my power is cheap at 0.11.
If there was some super secret coin no one knows about rental prices would spike.

I've got 35 gpus running mostly 290's and a few 280x, and today I will gross 18 dollars and net maybe 1, you're telling me your 4300% more profitable?

Or are you leaving out the part where you held coins and got lucky with a market pump? Or your power is free.

I recalculate and research everyday. Few weeks ago I was netting 10 with monero, then bcx broke it, then I mined xcn for a while, but the market cant handle my daily dumps, 8000 coins flushes the order book. Small market cap coins wont work for me. Everytime i sold xcn the price went down 20%

Right now the most money to be made is renting x11, dark diff dropped and rental prices doubled. I even spent 50 dollars last week on amazon ec2 trying profitable combinations.

[edit]
I checked your post history and if youre mining dash or sonic screwdriver, those wont work for me, daily volume of 800 dollars with a quick 1 day pump

Quote
on average with fluctuations i mine between 0.019-0.032 btc a day.
and my sha miner did
an average of 0.34 btc over a 4 day period when i had it on last.

just have to know what to mine and when to trade it and what to trade it for lol. btc is just the middle coin as there is always something better to invest in. Smiley

You also are using an sha256 asic and trading which both don't apply to this discussion

Not a big fan of naming after community members. Needs something more marketable to appeal to those outside of the "inner circle" of supporters.

Yep, please. This is a serious poll this time. Smiley

Can't we just call it insider circle jerk v1,v2...?
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed transactions for over an hour now... on: October 08, 2014, 12:58:03 AM
Blockchain adds the smallest fee possible, and some greedy pools wont include the transaction (ghash). I waited 5 hours for my Blockchain transaction to get picked up on Friday. I've waited 3-4 blocks before but this time was ridiculous.

From now on I'll add my own fee.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining profitability is a joke on: October 08, 2014, 12:39:40 AM
During the doge burst last year i managed to make enough money to turn one gpu rig into 7 with 5 290's each. pure profit. I've taken about 7,000 in cash since. Today I will make about 4 dollars.

There was 0.25-0.4 btc days until gox blew up, it will happen again when new people discover bitcoin and pump the prices.

Rule 1, never take girl advice from a girl.

Source, 20 years experience.
Rule 2, never trust anyone one the internet.
Source: Internet.

No but seriously, that's a kinda sexist thing to say.

It's not sexist if its the truth, how old are you? I've been dealing with girls and women since the early 90's.
Taking advice from a mature 30+ woman about a serious relationship is completely different than advice for a 20year old girl.

267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Now trouble setting up my HD7850 GPU w/ SGminer (EDIT: was BFGminer) on: October 07, 2014, 04:20:15 AM
my moneys on hardware errors, your thread concurrency is too low for the intensity. I dont know the shaders for a 7850, set threads to something like 12000 maybe???

Run the highest thread concurrency possible without sgminer complaining, if the number is too high, it will bitch about gpu ram and exit. keep lowering the number until it runs, then set the intensity to 20. fiddle from there.

make sure this has been run once on the system from the command prompt, just run it one time.

Space is expanding at an accelerating rate. You've heard of the Hubble telescope? Hubble proved this expansion. Evidence of expansion lead to inflation theory, the big bang. The force driving the expansion, the so called dark matter, is stronger than the gravitational force of all known matter leading to the idea of the big freeze.

Expansion is quantified, it is no longer conjecture. Why though...

So I take it you are a big RIP fan, like me?   Smiley

Spagettification to quote Dr Tyson.

Jesus will return in view of everyone. The dead will rise. Jesus will judge everyone according to the deeds they did in their lifetime. Those who believed in Jesus will go to Heaven - the new heavens and new earth - other reality/other mega-universe. THIS universe will become the lake of fire spoken about in the Revelation, destroying everything, so that God can get His power that He put into it back.

Smiley

Eventually your kind will be extinct and the world will truly be a better off.

Are there any old GPU miners still here?
I am wondering if mining was always profitable (even maybe a few %) or was it always like this, when you can only pay electricity with it, between the BTC bubbles?

Because maybe the ones who mined between the bubbles made the most?

I still have a 5770 hashing away in one of my old rigs, cards been hashing for almost 2 years for me.

Some days are profitable, some aren't.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is old 3.5 floppy safer than USB drive for cold storage? on: October 06, 2014, 08:22:51 PM
With the news on USB firmware hacks I was wondering if I should add a 3.5" floppy to my online computer to transfer from my cold storage old XP computer that already has a floppy. Would it be safer?

Some people recommend storing the keys/wallet on a DVD/CD.

DVD is plastic/polymer. It dries and cracks over time.

Your dvd is (potentially) done in 10 years.

Years ago a I read a cd/dvd should be good for hundreds of years, now I'm reading 2-5 years, maybe 10. The cds I burned in the 90's are still fine, and I have cd's from the 80's that are fine. So what's the deal?

Accusation isn't evidence.

The hell are you talking about? - Mine all you want - nobody going to stop you.....
I said the same thing, he didn't hear that either...

And both you two dumb asses want to stop him from doing that. "I got mine, fuck the rest!"

Well I'm glad I was told to calm down. It looks like there are many people who are equally as pissed off. Excellent job in dividing the community.

You guys are trying to control peoples resources. I hear comments like "just buy 10 drk (from me) and earn interest". I don't want 10 drk locked up. I want a gpu that I can re purpose. My hardware can generate about as much drk as 6 masternodes, I should sell it all, lock the coin into masternodes and be completely vulnerable to the whims of an illiquid market?

You want a level playing field, but the bar is being set ridiculously high. I have an old 5770 hashing away. At any time I can use it for what I choose, but you guys would prefer I sell it and give you the money?

Forcing people to dump hardware, to buy drk, to buy masternodes also has the consequence of removing hash power from other cryptos and hurting competitor coins. Is this the true motive?
Tra la la.

Last time I checked I wasn't holding a gun to your head. Do what you want, but I don't owe you or anyone else a living.
This. So much of this.

If you don't want to do a thing; don't. But don't expect me to pay your bills while you sit around complaining about that which you won't understand...

Apartment dwellers with car payments, living well beyond their means, making excuses... I chose deliberate homelessness to give myself an edge and escape from the trap. If you're not willing to do what you have to do to get out of the hole, then remain in the hole you will... It's nobody's fault but your own. Sack up or jsut kill yourself already. I'm not paying for your bad decisions and lack of fortitude.

What are you talking about? I am not running a gpu farm in an apartment? Make some more stuff up.

You know how much work it is running 40 gpus?

I know how much work it is running 24 - bugger all, so I'm guessing that running 40 is not much more.

Do you know what actual hard work is?

No I don't please enlighten me...

Is this were we whip out our dicks? Grow the fuck up.

Where did I ask for a hand out? It is quite clear you are the one who is. You have your hoard and want to sit on it and be provided a living for rent seeking behaviour. Do you work for HSBC?

You know how much work it is running 40 gpus?

im just a kid with a 7950 and mined a few darks for my own interests and now i am being shut off the network and treated like shit for trying to be a part of something i though was going to be big.
All i ever wanted to do was take part and get a few darks and now some bigger kid with more money comes along and says nope sorry we don't need you anymore, we are buying up the entire system and going to print darks ourselvs between us. if you want to play get out your creditcard.

despite what you may believe i am not scum, i just don't have the resources for a masternode and i still want to be a part of this

Well done, alienate another user. I am not just a kid with a single card. How many silent miners are reading this thread and being turned off. I sure am. My coins will hit the market the second dark even points in this direction.

See how well transactions are relayed without them.
With InstantX the transactions are going to be processed by the MN network anyway, and instantly. So... yeah...

Edit: Hey man, I know it's controversial. Just take a deep breath buddy

It's not controversial, its plain god damn greed and nothing but. If I want some dark now I can solo mine with my farm. You would prefer I go through a gated system, how is this different that the banking network?

Are the MN's processing the blocks now? No, the miners run the show, and will for the near future. See what happens when you tell 80% of network, oh btw fuck you guys.

Just because ideas get tossed around does not mean it's going to happen - chill out - damn

The ideas I see amount to forming a private cartel for the dozen or so vocal members of the community, fundamentally changing the way a coin works to the detriment of the general user and betraying the philosophical principals of crypto in general.

And I see a bunch of people, who should be ashamed of themselves, agreeing with it.
