261  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Miner Now Going To Focus on Trading Instead on: October 22, 2014, 11:33:19 PM
To be honest, the first few months of mining I refused to trade blindly believing in baghoding as the key to keep the price high, but when reality sunk in I started trading and realized that trading leads to more coins per month than mining due to the costs of electricity....
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mintpal broke on: October 20, 2014, 09:31:47 PM
It would be nice if mintpal would let me withdraw. They have some cashout thing up with a $2 UI but the coin I tried to withdraw just before it went down this last time failed and still doesn't reflect in the balance Sad
263  Economy / Economics / Re: Now one million merchants will drive selling pressure! on: October 20, 2014, 09:24:58 PM
Good for Bitpay buy bad for the price...

BitPay Plans to Have “One Million Merchants Taking Bitcoin by the End of 2016″

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitpay-one-million-merchants-taking-bitcoin-end-2016/

I agree in terms of overall health of the bitcoin economy it is totally good..but in terms of price, it is going to be always a negative pressure.

I believe the real use value for bitcoin is what will drive price up, something like drones and autonomous vehicles trying to deal only bitcoin in which case bitcoin become a thing where people really want to have bitcoins in order to use a service!

the merchant adoption i think is a bitter pill

I think merchant adoption is not a bitter pill at all. have you ever heard of the term demand vs supply?
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: October 20, 2014, 09:08:59 PM
just sold all my ltc after reading this topic  Grin
all back in bitcoin now

I did the same, anyone buying litecoin right now is either completely blind or very bold. Sells are only winers here. even if you think the price will moon later you are still doing worse then if you were in fiat as it drops.
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is dead on: October 20, 2014, 08:55:37 PM
Anyone who thinks bitcoin is dead is welcome to just sell their bitcoins and cash out. Cheesy

If crypto is such a bad idea then the solution is simple. Sell your holdings and walk away. No point whining about it
266  Economy / Economics / Re: Reasons to HODL! on: October 20, 2014, 08:48:26 PM
If 99% of BTC are being held by people who believe BTC to be worth $1,000 or even more, and 1% are being traded back and forth between a minority of the population at $300-$400 each, what is the real value of BTC?
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: October 20, 2014, 08:33:49 PM
I am sure STR will recover, but if it gets below 400 sats then it will take at least 3-4 months to recover to 1000 sats again and only if nothing bad happens
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: These instant changes in price... on: October 19, 2014, 10:18:23 PM
That's a free market and no regulation. That's what you libertarians wanted, right?

Correct. It will stabilize in time without any kinds of regulations and by then the price will be much higher (and people who sold in the current price range or even lower will feel rather stupid).

So you believe bitcoin will get stable at some point just by itself? I don't think so, imagine the US gov saying "all crypto is illegal" - market will sure react to such a bomb even after 10 years of succesful adoption.
269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy now and howl for better price? on: October 19, 2014, 10:10:34 PM
yeah... gonna get burned trading BTC this low... wait till it goes back to the 4-5 hundreds... this is just too dangerous down here. its been nasty low the whole weekend
270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is dead on: October 18, 2014, 11:08:33 AM
Bitcoin is dead:

btc has no value, and it's bubble have busted.

more govs will ban it and people will forget it.

btc will go  to hell

You're wrong mate, low bitcoin price doesn't mean "bitcoin is dead". If gasoline suddenly got really cheap, would people be saying, "Cars are dead!" No, of course not. It makes no sense.
271  Economy / Economics / Re: How profitable is BTC daytrading? on: October 18, 2014, 11:00:23 AM
I've started trading a while ago using btc-e with metatrader. I'm building experts now to make money.

My view:

1. Daytrading will almost always result in big loss. This is due to the high volatility and violent swings. To make any profit you should look at daily charts and not 1minute charts.

2. Stoploss can get hit by dumpers or pumpers (when shorting) causing loss when you could have made a profit. But than again trends can change as quickly so you cant be certain on a rebound.

3. Every trading pair requires it's own ta. StochRSI works on some and bolingerbands on others, etc.

Yes the market allows for trading but volume is usually too low for daytrading.

I wish i weren't so lazy and learned metatrader, a trailing stop and something keeping track of bid size as well as ratio at the same time would be so helpful. Staring at the charts all day to see the giant dumps and pumps go through is a huge waste of time
272  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm going to warn you guys one last time. on: October 18, 2014, 10:55:06 AM
I think BTC is going to hit $350 again in near future, there are projections all over r/bitcoin, people are being instructed to dump and buy back at that price or even lower
273  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: October 18, 2014, 10:04:45 AM
I wonder how low the price of btc must get for even the large mining operations to stop before they're mining at a loss
274  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bitcoin’s Price Really Matter Right Now? on: October 18, 2014, 09:44:59 AM
Listen to mainstream media..... it is all bad news for bitcoin, when mainsteam media in love with bitcoin, that is when I will be selling my coins.
275  Economy / Economics / Re: Why bitcoin prices are always very unstable on: October 15, 2014, 01:46:06 PM
I agree that bots were certainly used, however I don't think there is evidence that the bots were used to manipulate the prices. From what I can tell the willy bot was only a way that whales were able to buy up large amounts of bitcoin without suffering excess slippage.

If the price moved up by such a large amount when the bots were buying, there definitely was slippage. Smiley

Well, IMO people arent doing this drop, but bots are. Too many exchanges, too coordinated.. this is a plan in motion. All we can do is sit here and talk to each other like sick people waiting to heal Smiley
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: October 15, 2014, 01:42:53 PM
Cheap Stellar it is the good time to buy

The price keep falling like a rock since a month ago, I'm thinking about selling all my stash and buying back cheaper, that means the price of STR is about to go up
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 15, 2014, 01:26:41 PM
LTC will attract so many noobs imo especially once the paypal thing is more solidified

Happy birthday litecoin, take us to da moon.....
278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market reversals on: October 15, 2014, 12:16:38 PM
When the reversal comes, it will be more epic than before. Remember guys, 1 year ago this time bitcoin was around $125. and it went up 9 times by the end of the year, if same happens, we could see +/- $3k bitcoin by the end of this year. It might seem impossible, but people thought $1.2k bitcoin was also impossible last year... the surge will happen suddenly, out of nowhere.
279  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google: cost of an ounce of gold on: October 15, 2014, 12:12:53 PM
Sell bitcoin and buy gold. Gold will always have value.
The value of gold is much less then what the market gives it. The value of gold is from it's perceived store of value.

The West wants gold price low so they can maintain the USD as the world's reserve currency. The East wants gold cheap so they can continue to accumulate bullion at low prices.
280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction is on the way... on: October 15, 2014, 12:09:42 PM
LOOK OUT BELOW! How low will it go?! Nobody knowsss

I think anything is a buy right now, but bottom probably around $360, maybe a little under. Does anyone have voices in their head? Are they giving you BTC predictions? Care to share?
