It seems like no one answers S3 questions in this forum. I sent an email to Bitmain this morning regarding my hashing speed not going any higher than 290ish. Hopefully they will reply soon.

Ok, so I upgraded my Antminer S1 today and everything seemed straight forward. After I did it I turned it on and proceeded to upgrade the firmware to the S3 firmware. Well after waiting 3 hours for it to complete it finally timed out. Now I cant even get it to connect to the network. Is there anyway to recover this machine or did it get fried?? Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks
I'm assuming that you're not able to connect to the unit via web? Remember, if you flashed the ROM with the newest S3 firmware, the unit will go back to original specs of 192.168.1.99.

I installed one of the upgrades for the S1 to s3 and my unit is only hashing between 215 and 270GH/S. I flashes the ROM to antMiner_S320140826.bin. I do not show temperature, fan 2 speed and my hash rate is slow. I also do not show a BestShare number, yet the unit has ben hashing for over 9 hours. I tried going directly to GHASH and also using BFG Miner in proxy mode, both yield the same results. I tried frequencies 250, 225 and 218.75. What should I do next? ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi1378.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fah83%2Fbmoscato1%2FS3_zpsd2f7f8db.jpg%7Eoriginal&t=663&c=ww04KBvi6rKDRA) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi1378.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fah83%2Fbmoscato1%2FBFG-S3_zps895169b7.jpg%7Eoriginal&t=663&c=dRxWhlppnliyWQ)

I've tried most of the frequencies from the default 325, 317, 350... I can't seem to get the unit to hash over 325 GHS, it seems to sit at 290 through 315.
Also, my miner isn't displaying temperature or the second fan speed.
Am I the only experiencing these issues?
I still have 3 more kits to upgrade and I'm a bit worried that I'm going to have issues.
Upgraded 2 S1's to S3, neither shows the temp of the second fan. By the way - why don't you upgrade the firmware from S1 to S3+? - this is what Bitmain advises and others have done. That would probably resolve the number of chains issue. Cheers I am running the latest S3 firmware...

I only see two chains on the unit I just ugraded. I'm assuming that you shouldn't see 4... But I'm having issues as well with mine.

Has anyone ordered any of these in the past week? Do you know if they are still in stock? Thanks in advance.
I had such fun time upgrading a couple of S1's that I tried to order more upgrade kits today seeing as I have a pile of unused S1's in my basement. Unfortunately it appears like they are no longer selling them. mine just arrived today Mine are coming Friday "i hope". UPS says they're going to CA and I live in Texas :| Anyone had that happen to them before with Bitmain? UPS had to track me down because they didn't put my street address (number or name) on the delivery, just my name, city, state and zip... So, I got the kits tonight. I upgraded 1 unit tonight and it's hashing, but not displaying heat values or second fan speed. Is this normal? I use the latest S3 firmware.

Yeah, flash the firmware to the latest version for the S3 that Bitmain has on their support site. That will get you going, it's working for me.
Thanks for the info, I just got confirmation that my upgrades shipped early this morning; I guess I should see them by the end of next week.

Thanks, I didn't realize that BFGMiner could also be used as a proxy. It works perfectly.

I had pretty much the same issue, mine was running prior for a few days prior to the issue. I ended up unplugging everything and blowing canned air through the unit and reset all of the wires. It started right up, but out of my 6 S1s, it's the only one that seems to hash like crap. I'm assuming bad board or something. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=758768.msg8556564#msg8556564

Does it use the same CGMiner or do we flash the unit to an S3?
the upgrade i think video say's the controller mount for the upgrade convert it to A s3 . I was told when I got my email from the US vendor i bought my S3 from that they are gonna release a Firmware up date that upgrades to the latest version of CGMiner 4.6.0 or later what ever is out when they DO Imo i wish it would Include bfgminer to i like BFGmner more no offense intended to the DEV of cgminer. I'm guessing but yea you need to update the controller once it is mounted sense I have tryed to use a S3 firmware on a S1 board some thing on the mount makes it seen as a S3 . Thanks for the answer.

Does anyone know if the upgrade uses a new controller card? It doesn't list 1 in the details.

Does anyone know of a good windows proxy application to run with a S1 devices? I want to point the S1 units at a proxy and then have the proxy look at multiple pools, it would be ideal to if the proxy could switch based on profitability, but I'll be fine to just have fail-over mode.

Hey Luke, Have you made any progress with the S1 drivers? There are a few guys trying to get an S1 blade to work with BFGMiner or CGMiner; in the later pages they are either seeing errors or all 32 chips aren't running: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=671128.140Bryan No, I was waiting on docs... It's interesting that it even begins to work with that driver at all. Any idea what the real S1 host system is using for its USB chipset? The VID/PID doesn't come up in /usr/src/linux ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) Thanks for the reply... If you go to the link I believe that are using a UART adapter. The hardware guy is going to buid a prototype to control 4 or 8 blades.
