261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is there a way to associate bitcoin addresses? on: April 03, 2015, 01:06:17 AM
You could also modify the program used by https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/ to associate bitcoin addresses to ip addresses. The first node to report a transaction with a particular address is likely the node that owns the sending address. Unless they are using tor.

Couldn't the blockchain prove to be basically proof of shipping?

No. Bitcoin transactions are anonymous and by a wallet ID/address one cannot prove a transaction as the wallet does not hold any proof like ID card or address proof. Only the IP address is recorded which is not sufficient that you have sent the bitcoins to the person. Xapo uses mobile verification but still it is not a solid proof.

That's why people prefer using Virwox or localbitcoins for exchange. Even Ebay transactions can be chargedback.

You can prove you own an address by signing a message using that address. The proof is the fact that you own the private key to that address which, like the name says, should be private and one that only you have. Also, your IP Address is never recorded.

1) you can get lists of merchants from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Real_world_shops or many other places, but they do not list the addresses associated with the merchants

2) You can get the source code to the open source project getaddr.bitnodes.io and modify it so that an address can be mapped to a node's ip which you can then map to geographic regions.

Otherwise, there are not any projects that I know of that do what you ask.

I will try that after bitcoin core finishes building the databases. I will let you know in a few days if it works.
265  Bitcoin / Armory / bitcoind crashing on: March 28, 2015, 07:34:55 PM
Every few days, bitcoind.exe will stop working when I start armory and to fix it, I have to manually start bitcoin core and rebuild the databases. Rebuilding always takes a long time, during which I cannot use my wallet. Is there some way to fix this so that bitcoind does not keep crashing?

I am running armory 0.93.1 and bitcoin core 0.10.0 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit

I created them all on this laptop. 1AqTzzy3wtNV71e3CRKNKR9xxf3PPYff1H Was my first ever bitcoin address that I created in multibit.

I installed the android app only recently and for convenience I loaded my multibit backup from 1AqTzzy3wtNV71e3CRKNKR9xxf3PPYff1H on my phone so I have it on two devices. I don't think I still have the original wallet that came with the android app. No idea what address that was, never used it.

You shouldn't have the same wallet loaded on two different devices. This can cause some errors because the wallets may not be synced with each other

I would like to test this. Especially the automatic exchange.

Will Bitcoin Core 0.10 be available through the secure downloader?
