More likely a DDOS attack, same thing happening to Bitminter
DDOS attack on a small pool? I don't see any reason why someone would DDOS a small pool

The server is down. I sent a message to the guy who runs the server. Maybe he is on vacation, but I think it is more likely that he stopped paying for the server. He hasn't been on the forum or contacted me fort a while. Anyway, I am going to post the code on github next week after the new year. Someone else can give it a go.
or forgot to renew domain name. Expiration date: 18 Feb 2013 17:42:00

I wonder what happened to all the users? I'm the top hasher with 2.4 Gh/s? Also payouts have slowed down. I'm double my threshold and it's been almost 2 days since a payment.
Many miners seem to have left for the holiday season. You should have got a payment by now. I got busy with working on upgrades to the site. Watch for an announcement soon.

I don't have a problem with that... does anyone else reading this still want "actual" shares vs diff1 shares in that column? If so, why?
Actual share are not important as it is not much useful to the user/miner. I think what juhakall wants is a SUM of total shares submitted in diff 1 format

Major connection issues right now, looking at pool stats, everyone is having the same problems.
I am having some issues with the server. It has been going down repeatedly. Working on it. Will post here when done. Thanks for the patience. EDIT: Issue fixed.

Which antivirus software are you using? I'm curious.
Even i would like to know the anti-virus software you are using.

i am looking to pick up a 6970 specifically for mining.
Ever since the block reward subsidy halving a couple weeks ago, those who are still GPU mining of Bitcoin are either mining at a loss or are paying a really cheap rate (or free) for electricity. But even for those with cheap electricity, that characteristic is just delaying the inevitable -- the day the GPUs get powered down. This is because as soon as any one of the five ASIC manufacturers start shipping in quantity, not even cheap electricity will help you. So unless you were hoping for a 6970 specificallly for gaming, and would like a good excuse to buy one ("for mining"), then don't waste your time or money. Also the bitcoin price has been going up since the halving.

I am super late to the party, heard about bitcoins a few years ago but was younger so didn't pay much attention to it but here I am now and cannot decide what to currently mine.
Better late than never. either Lite coin or Bit Coin.
I would recommend you to mine Bitcoins as it consumes less power to mine. And also with the rising difficulty of litecoin it is becoming unprofitable to mine. Currently have to PCs one with a GTX 285 and the other with a GTX 680, yes i know Nvidia sucks balls for mining
Mining with Nvidia cards are not profitable because the amount of bitcoins they mine does not cover the power they consume. so i am looking to pick up a 6970 specifically for mining.
Good luck with your venture.

Sorry, I am not interested in continuing this conversation with you. I am not in your channel #ozcoin either. Ohhh dont give me that crap. You got called out on this forum and now your covering your ass. You where asked to leave many times even after you where banned you continued. Nice try kid. Now live with your mistakes because of continued harassment. It seems someone else has been using my nick on the irc channels. No idea why or who is doing this -- but someone has been trying to mudsling for sometime. Graet had a conversation with me sometime earlier before this saga started and he told me that I was contacting people on his channel to join my pool. I told him that I did not and was only PMing on the public channels #bitcoin, #bitcoin-mining, #cgminer, etc. After that abracadabra came to this thread trying to be negative about my pool. I am using a VPN to connect to irc so it is not surprising to see whoever is impersonating my nick using the same ip addresses. I can only conclude that this drama is being carried out to hurt my pool. Else, why is the following posted on my thread: Does anyone really want to be part of a pool proxy like this?
Anyone supporting this pool proxy is a fool. This child cannot be trusted.

Fair enough. I'll stick around, see how it goes. I'll be adding another 1.6gh sometime this week.
Thanks. I appreciate your support.

The low fee definitely drew me to this pool, but with the controversy surrounding it is making me wary... I'm sure I'm not alone.
BTCOxygen has been operating for about over one month now. In this period, we have paid well over 100 BTC to our miners. And found three blocks for the network so far. I feel that our track record is good. Hopefully over time, the stigma attached to proxy pools will fade away.

you started avoiding IRC bans and would not leave Ozcoin IRC chanel when asked.
I don't recall being asked to leave the Ozcoin irc channel. If I missed your message, I am sorry. If there was anything that merited a ban, at least a warning would have been fair. But there wasn't any. But a certain person has been going around to various irc channels even those where I don't post much and convincing those operators to get me banned. Which is very unfortunate. I guess he succeeded in achieving that. it takes quite a bit to get banned.... deliberately avoiding that ban was the last straw.
I got banned because I was avoiding a ban?? Circular logic detected.

.......I left your pool recently as there were too many long rounds. .......
I really do hope that's not the reason you left. As a proxy you have to understand mining variance better than other pool ops. The variables you need to consider when selecting a pool to use for your proxy are: 1. fair reward method 2. pool reliability 3. fee Unless my humour detector is malfunctioning, you seem to be saying that Ozcoin had a significant number of long rounds and that's why you left. I can assure you that Ozcoin's shares per round are well within a 95% confidence interval, so I'm guessing you didn't check? And what did you think was happening - that there was a block withholding attack happening? You have to learn some basic analysis of negative binomially distributed random variables if you want to be able to make a statement such as "too many long rounds". Or I can do the work for you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127260.0It doesn't cost much if you want analysis done regularly. I do have a good understanding of mining variance. Perhaps not as well as you, I may concur. I understand that Ozcoin has a good confidence interval -- which is why we stayed with them for a quite long time. We left them after a number of long rounds but that was not the determining factor. We have loads of spreadsheets for doing various analyses needed; notwithstanding certain mudslingers. I also visit your site regularly as I find your insights useful.

anyway I have had enough of your rubbish when you first asked for help you told me you wouldn't waste my time, you have
I choose to stop wasting my time now
Good luck with your venture
I appreciate that you helped me. FWIW, BTCOxygen has submitted more than 13 million shares at your pool and also found two blocks for you. Not to mention the donations. I left your pool recently as there were too many long rounds. I hope that is not the reason why your tone has changed now. Wish you all the best.

The reason we did not mention this in the first post was as we felt that it was not necessary.
Despite me repeatedly advising you otherwise? And you asking me not to tell miners until someone asked you? (which made me very uncomfortable) Please start being honest with your miners. It is correct that I asked you not to tell miners that we were a proxy pool. I did not feel that the timing was appropriate. I felt that I would like to reveal it myself when the time was right. We certainly did not mean to hide it but did not think that we need to highlight that aspect.
yes you did. We did not want to highlight the aspect of being a proxy pool. There was no reason to do so especially as we are not pure proxy. Also poaching miners from other pools IRC chanels is bad form and I hear you have now been banned from at least 3 pools IRC chanels. Ban evasion in IRC is also seen as bad form.
I never approached other miners from any pool IRC channels. I did approach miners in the general #bitcoin and #bitcoin-mining channels which are not specific to any pool. I had a link to my website in my irc quit message but have since removed it after it was pointed out that it is not considered good form. Not a stellar start to a new "pool".
As a new pool, we cannot be perfect -- or even "stellar" -- right from the beginning. But we learn from our mistakes and hope to prove to be a useful resource for the bitcoin community.
