261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency "The Alt-ernative" Beginners Reference Book on: June 16, 2014, 08:25:19 PM
OP, its funny that you list ybcoin (an exact clone of YAC, though they haven't been keeping up) or any other scrypt N coin instead of the original which is Yacoin.

Any serious reference work should certainly document the originator of Scrypt N and SHA3.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There seems to be a case for creating CPU only coins on: June 16, 2014, 08:19:57 PM
Yacoin.

That is all, thanks!
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC is how you do PoS fairly, Sunny King should be applauded, NXT is a scam copy on: June 16, 2014, 03:00:50 PM

What happens to peercoin if sunny king gets hit by a bus?

The same thing that happens if the entire Bitcoin core team is incinerated by a comet... Someone else with the talent and skill forks the OPEN SOURCE code and continues the project.

Also, not sure if trolling, so good job Wink
264  Other / Off-topic / Star Trek Continues on: June 16, 2014, 01:49:36 PM
In case anyone has not had a chance to see this yet,  I want to share what is, by far, the best original series fan continuation I've ever seen. Everyone appreciates what Phase II did, but STC is in a completely different league. They just released episode 3, which is a continuation of "mirror mirror" from TOS. It takes about 10 minutes to get used to the different actors, but after that it becomes like an Occulusesque trip into the 1960's. It looks, sounds and "feels" exactly like a continuation of the original "five year mission."

If you are a Trek fan, or sci-fi fan in any way I highly recommend checking it out.

Peercoin is not a bad coin I'll give you that , but it's anonymous creator/dev really does hinder the coins success. No big time investor will put money in a coin made by a guy called sunny king.
Yeah just like the anonymous founder of Bitcoin prevented Bitcoin from succeeding.  Wink

I was going to reply to El Dude with something much less diplomatic.... but yes ^^^ this instead. I have no opinion on NXT, and am instead here
just to agree in applauding Sunny King who is as skilled as ANY of the BTC core devs. I'm sure they would agree.
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $$$ Please donate to get Yacoin listed on Poloniex. $$$ on: June 14, 2014, 03:34:43 AM
I received the following DM from @PoIoniex with regard to adding Yacoin to their exchange.

Quote
The developmental and upkeep cost of a BTC market would be .8 BTC and for both a BTC and a LTC market, it's 1 BTC. Which plan do you want?

Let me know what everyone thinks by sending to 15qUzhfiMzweuVUyoc8rdX7G1sARSTz48A within the next 5 days. If we don't meet either amount by then,  I will return any BTC sent. Any BTC over that level can either remain in the dev fund if you choose or I will return them to you.

Thanks, JB.

Poloniex staff here. This is a scam. Do not send any coins to this address. We do not request bounties for coins to be added to the exchange. You either must be chosen by busoni, or voted in through our voting page (https://poloniex.com/voting).
You likely got this tweet from @poioniex, or "Poloniex" with an uppercase "i". We are working with twitter to shut this user down.

Thanks,
-tf2honeybadger.

Yep, that is an Uppercase "i". They have a good deal of followers too - damn!  Don't worry that is my BTC address used for the YAC dev fund, so anyone that sent will receive a refund.

no Yacoin for me. Sad

Another option is to buy some Yacoin on an exchange (VERY low cost right now) and enable stake minting if you have an old computer laying around. You'll earn YAC interest with basically no additional power usage.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I say X11 and SHA3 are not ASIC resistent ? on: June 13, 2014, 04:44:32 PM
Yacoin introduced SHA3 to cryptocoin world and is currently at Nf15. Rather than being ASIC resistant, I would say Yacoin is ASIC PROOF. It would require completely new technologies and concepts to change that.

It does look like N-Factor is a great weapon against ASIC's but isn't Yacoin Gpu proof now as well (not saying that's a bad thing)?

GPU mining YAC has always been a bit of an art for sure, but even at current N it is still possible. Check the ongoing dev thread for some of the latest settings for GPU.

271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin about to be 51%ed??? on: June 10, 2014, 08:28:04 PM
Another thought. A real nice TODO for the next version of cgminer would be a pool hop function based of pool hash %.

So if pool A >= 30% move to pool B, etc...
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin about to be 51%ed??? on: June 10, 2014, 08:20:10 PM
Even if gigahash was at 75% it doesn't mean Bitcoin has been forked or 51%ed. It just means that they would have that option. I'm certainly not saying this is ideal or good and I personally believe in p2p pools, but there would be no legitimate reason for any pool to 51% Bitcoin unless their goal from day 1 was nefarious.

All that being said, there are some other really nice pools (slush being my recommendation) out there besides gigahash.io, that might be worth a try for some of you to help even things out a bit Wink
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUMP SCRYPT, SCRYPT-N COINS (litecoin, doge etc...) BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! on: June 09, 2014, 04:59:55 PM

Scrypt-n is nothing different from Scrypt, so their claims are realistic.

Wait, do what now???
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUMP SCRYPT, SCRYPT-N COINS (litecoin, doge etc...) BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! on: June 09, 2014, 04:49:50 PM
Yacoin (originator of scrypt N BTW Wink ) is currently at Nf 15. Obviously technology changes, but I can't imagine that if someone threw a billion dollars at the prospect of creating an ASIC for Yacoin that it would be possible even if we still had the temporary marketcap from last week :-)
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of CPU Friendly AltCoins on: June 09, 2014, 04:28:01 PM
OP

Why is Yacoin not on this list?

I believe he's said a few posts before that now he only answers questions in this thread but that he doesn't update it. He does all the updates in a more comprehensive website he's done for this:
http://cpucoinlist.com/

Thanks, I might have been more specific as I was referring to the website.

They are all great, and Cypherious should get something for effort alone if he/she doesn't win.

Anyway, I vote for awesome girlfriend, Morpheus and the rock.  Also, for 4th place, the one I did Smiley
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin is doomed to die a slow death on: June 07, 2014, 02:43:52 AM

Yeah, it's sad to see how divided and pessimist the cryptocurrency community can be.
We should never wish for the demise of another coin, instead we should focus on our primary goal: the demise of fiat!

I fully support and applaud any good that has been done in the name of dogecoin. Like the fiat world, good is done on a daily basis, even though the general system is inherently corrupt.

I believe however that dogecoin was planned and released by those looking to PRESERVE fiat though a well calculated attack similar to:

The tulip initiative

1) Release cryptocoinclone based on silly meme and work to immediately discredit and mock Bitcoin concept as a whole.  Slowly ingrain in general populace concept that, like meme, cryptocoins are overall silly joke/fad that by nature must eventually fade away. TULIPS TULIPS TULIPS. Number one target of course for attack being Bitcoin.

2) Use global corporate marketing juggernaut to promote "meme"coin in every possible forum: Print, web, radio, TV, and most importantly, social media. Establish a "cool" factor for "meme"coin and watch/allow PWOM (positive word of mouth) snowball effect to take over.

3) Direct initial propaganda toward those unaware of Bitcoin or alternatives. Increasingly direct attack toward those most likely to latch on to "get rich quick" schemes. Once "real world value" (fiat) is lost in "meme"coin market, PWOM will reverse. Negative feeling will trickle from "meme"coin to all cryptocoins. Bitcoin concept will start to be looked upon by general populace with malice. Fiat, more than ever feels like safe haven to initial "meme"coin adopters.

4) Flood market with clones of clones of clones to continue the effect of #3, which has added benefit of simultaneously discouraging true innovation due to market supersaturation.

5)...

If satoshi wants to destroy his/her/their/its coins, they will.

The whole point of this thread seems to be based on the transfer of greed rather than any sort of democratic concept.
