261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Study Bitcoin on: April 01, 2023, 02:48:17 AM
It was bitcoin guys doing it as a mild troll but mostly to bring attention to people about bitcoin. Central banks have been screwing us for a very long time. The fractional reserve system is a total scam, a literal ponzi scheme & it’s starting to unravel.
It all started with just a harmless troll to gain attention from the people about bitcoin but it is already safe to say that the authorities are now tracking down who's behind this movement to make an example because the place where they've flashed the logo wasn't a random building nor a coincidence, it was the European Central Bank and I bet it was planned.

Quote
Hopefully many people see the logo & decide to look further into bitcoin & what it can do for them.
I got no doubts that many people have actually saw it and in the aftermath, many people will know it as that will surely make a headline for days.
Seems like they are serious about making an example to those who oppose them. Though it is just a harmless meme, those guys will take on everything seriously once their authority is challenged. I just don't know why people enjoy the pleasure of being entitled, maybe because they have power over other people? or they enjoy seeing people like slaves working for them? They have been playing monopoly for the longest time, while us who average people who only wanted to participate in global economic activities are being treated as rebels. It's really funny how they will enact the law whenever it is convenient for them.  Roll Eyes

Count me in as a spammer Grin I was just annoyed playing the game I'm stuck at the 2nd tube  Roll Eyes

I'm already getting a hang of it. All I needed was just a bit of practice. I enjoyed playing this April fools' game, the only thing that I disliked is that once you have completed all the laps require for posting, the score immediately stops and it will just say "OK", I think it is much better if the score continues to tick even if you are done to see how long you will last and how many laps you can finish.

Edit: I have completed the 47 laps before editing this post and posting it.

*cannot post a proof from the completed 47 laps

May disadvantage and advantages talaga ang AI and if you are going to use it here dito sa forum for your posting activities panigurado, mapapahamak talaga ang account mo so be careful and choosing the topic pumili lang ng topic na alam mo or curious ka para alam mo kung ano ang ipopost at icocomment mo.

Because of this issue regarding AI and such, I tried asking an AI what the potential dangers their own kind could possibly bring and here's how chatGPT responded: Grin

Quote
As an AI model can you write me a narrative regarding the potential dangers of AI
Certainly, here is a narrative about the potential dangers of AI:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has come a long way since its inception and has brought about significant advancements in various fields. However, there are concerns regarding its development and deployment that must be addressed. These concerns range from the impact of AI on employment and the economy to the potential risks and dangers it poses to society.

One of the most significant concerns is the possibility of AI becoming too intelligent and surpassing human intelligence. This scenario, known as the singularity, could lead to machines becoming uncontrollable and beyond human comprehension, leading to disastrous consequences.

Another concern is the impact of AI on privacy and security. As AI systems become more sophisticated, they will have access to increasingly sensitive information, including personal data, financial information, and national security secrets. This information can be manipulated, stolen, or used for malicious purposes, leading to serious consequences.

Moreover, AI systems can be biased and discriminatory. If not programmed correctly, AI systems can perpetuate existing social, cultural, and economic biases, leading to unfair and unjust outcomes for certain groups of people. For example, facial recognition software has been shown to be less accurate for people with darker skin tones, leading to discriminatory outcomes.

Another significant concern is the potential loss of jobs due to automation. As AI systems become more sophisticated, they can replace human workers in various industries, leading to widespread job losses and economic instability.

Finally, there is the risk of AI being used for destructive purposes, such as cyber-attacks or the development of autonomous weapons. These weapons could be used without human intervention, leading to catastrophic consequences.

Overall, while the potential benefits of AI are significant, it is essential to consider and address the potential dangers and risks. It is vital to develop ethical standards and regulations that prioritize safety, security, and accountability. Moreover, AI development should be transparent and open to public scrutiny, and policymakers must ensure that the benefits of AI are equitably distributed and do not come at the expense of society's most vulnerable members.

here's another question I did earlier, I don't know whether I should feel relieved or be worried.

Quote
As an AI model do you think there is a possibility that you will take over mankind?
As an AI model, I do not possess any motivations or desires of my own, including the desire to take over mankind. I am a tool created by humans to assist in various tasks, and my actions are determined by my programming and the instructions provided to me by humans. While there are concerns about the potential misuse of AI by humans, it is important to remember that AI is ultimately controlled by humans and does not have any inherent motivations or desires of its own. The future of AI will be shaped by the decisions and actions of humans.

it's just weird how they answered the second question confidently while still leaving a clue that it can still be misused by humans. Even if the AI answered there is nothing to worry about and they didn't have any ambitions, what about those who're controlling them? they can be threatened easily and leaving the possibility that one wrong programming can cause such huge disaster is absolutely terrifying.
267  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and others urge AI pause, citing 'risks to society' on: March 31, 2023, 09:33:16 AM
Just to give two examples, one is the fact that if students wants to write their school homework with an AI, then there are websites that uses detection programs to detect if an AI wrote it or not (not really that hard to figure out) and secondly, if a video is made by an AI, then there are detection software that also figures that one out as well. All in all I would guess that there is no need for any of this at all.

Pretty confident message. Show an example of such sites, the results of which could be relied upon, proving that the text was written by AI. Let's not go far; already today on the forum, a lot of people use AI tools to write posts. Have you seen a clear conclusion that moderators can confidently say and accuse a person of using AI?
Therefore, I think it's too early to say that AI behavior is easily detected. If you look at how many of the greatest minds are screaming that the development of AI needs to be suspended, then we can conclude that AI is becoming really dangerous for humanity.
Elon is worried about the dangers AI can give given that right it is still considered an infant and there still so many rooms to grow. One of the reasons why there is no copyright when someone is using even chatGPT is that the AI is the ones constructing narratives collected by various sources. In short, it isn't a summary but in fact it was their own understanding on what they understood from the gathered data. If given time to collect more information or data, who knows what dangers might befall us humans?

There's also the possibility that any other country who has enough influence could make use of this technology as a weapon. As time goes by, the more AI becoming more and more mature enough.
268  Economy / Economics / Re: Al Transforming Job Market on: March 31, 2023, 09:03:44 AM
I think it's important to first note that TRUE AI/Artificial Intelligence DOES NOT exist yet.  The technical term for this is AGI or Artificial General Intelligence.  This is where "AI" becomes self learning, where it does not have to lean on humans to make all of its programming.

I know the current "AI" is changing things, such as the way people work which can and will effect jobs moving forward, but it's AGI that will really be the game changer.  That's what scares me.
Just imagining how much data the AI has collected so far and will keep increasing over the course of years and if it possible (hopefully it's just my imagination) to use that data to oppose us humans is really terrifying. The OP depicted that there will be a huge change in the job industry once AI is officially recognized as new workforce, while there're some who claims that it will be a huge leap for humanity and there are those who are against since they'd run the risk of losing their jobs. It is also possible that over the years that may come, we as humans will be forced to adapt and try as hard as we can not to lose versus AI. It could be possible that we will try to develop as humans much more intelligent, skillful and creative than AI.

Humans are also dangerous when we talk about survival, let's just hope it won't reach to that point.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public Perspective towards Bitcoin on: March 31, 2023, 08:45:22 AM
3.  This is an ardent truth for me which is, I believe bitcoin is a special technology and it being special I don't expect everyone to partake in it except for the few special people that understands the benefits tied to it.
When I first learned about crypto, I was curious and due to my curiosity, I had dived deep into it to learn more, and the first few months of my experience all I could say is that this number 3 or yours is what I definitely understood about what bitcoin is. Even until now, I still view bitcoin as something special and only few people who are lucky enough to adapt earlier and those who truly understood bitcoin deserved to own those. As what you've said about this being special, most people I met from way back years ago up until now, some of them only view bitcoin as an easy money that is in the middle of being legal and illegal. Nobody even bothered to understand that the first purpose of it is to become a currency, but instead they'd all go look at it and think "Yes! this is it! this is money, money and more money!". That's just how they view it, maybe time will come when they look at it very differently, and that's how people usually are, they have varying opinions and perception.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China is the largest bitcoin miner. on: March 31, 2023, 07:14:22 AM
I get all my graphic cards from china because it's the closest foreign country to mine, and my suppliers have told me what was going on with crypto miners in China, it was like a war on drug, the government hate the sight of Asic miners and only those selling to other foreign countries are left to do their businesses, you can't be in china and be mining Bitcoin.
That sounds bad for those who are miners, and that also means they have to evacuate or migrate to another country if they want to continue mining. In terms of technology, it is arguable that China is one of the leading suppliers of some technological parts like what you've said graphic cards. Years ago, I have also ordered from them a raspberry pi to help my former classmate about his robotics competition. For us living in Asia, China has become a primary source of those techs and aside from we didn't have to spend so much for shipping fees, they also offer good quality products depending on which supplier you chose. At that time also they are the ones who heavily supported crypto and mining industry, it's just funny how the tables turn and now they are against the very idea they supported.
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin go towards DeFi primarily, possibility of centralization begins on: March 31, 2023, 05:38:18 AM
I think, That while there are concerns about possible centralization if Bitcoin switches to DeFi, the important point is that not all DeFi apps require KYC due to regulations. Enforcing KYC in every decentralized application and smart contract is also technically challenging. Despite regulators' threats to impose forceful action, there will always be countermeasures to defend our privacy and freedoms. There will always be ways to maintain financial freedom and privacy, even with the introduction of DeFi and smart contracts to Bitcoin.
Same old story as how it is Crypto vs Government. I don't think achieving total privacy is possible considering some other countries requires you to provide KYC for their very own service providers (wallets), just like the case here in my country. Yes, we have freedom in terms of doing transactions outside our wallets, but once it goes inside our own wallet provided locally, the whole story changes. Whether we like it or not, we couldn't take our money outside or transfer it not unless we provide personal information for verification, the worst part is that, now it has been slowly implemented that whenever you try to transfer crypto from external sources, they will ask you for what purpose, where it came from and how much you are going to send/receive.

I'm not totally against being verified and doing KYC since I am not doing something illegal, but that's the whole point of someone who's against KYC.

273  Economy / Economics / Re: Money as a store of value... on: March 31, 2023, 04:44:58 AM
You were right that paper money has a value, and it can be stored, we cannot argue with that, but the question is, does that amount you put in the bank still the same as the time comes? Let's put it simply this way, $1,000 is already enough in our family to survive whole month or even more, but do you think that figure will be enough in the future? Considering the constant rise of the prices in all the basic needs everyday do you think in the next 5-10 years that amount is significant? I don't think it is. That is the same situation even if you put that amount inside the bank, and guess what? for sure you'll earn percentage depends on how much you deposit by what method? Banks are going to play your money by example lending other people and giving them interest rates as their profit, and the duration? In my country it has minimum of 3 months, so let's just say they can lend it 4 times a year with 2% interest per loan, they have 8% APY just using your money and you get the 2% because that's what the bank promised when you put your money for time deposit. In short, they have 6% profit without lifting a finger and only using words and papers.

That's just a basic breakdown for an individual putting money inside a bank, so how much money does the bank have if all of you guys put your money at the same time? 100% profit isn't impossible to make if we're talking about banks, but that's just them not the individual whose blood and sweat being poured just to make "savings" for their future plans.
274  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Investment: Good Debts vs Bad Debts on: March 31, 2023, 03:42:42 AM
<snip>
It is a good debt if we borrow money in an event where:
4.  We have the capability to pay the borrowed money regardless we sold our Bitcoin or not.

It is considered a bad debt if:
4.  Incapable of paying the borrowed money which can force us to sell BTC at a loss to be able the pay the debt on time.

Exactly. This alone is already a huge difference between rich and poor people. By poor you mean those who are on lower class household and below right? if that's the case, thinking about getting in debt alone is already bad. Here's an example based on my experience and from the neighborhood I have in this country, for those who are earning below minimum wage, having a debt is like digging your own grave, coz you have to accept huge interest. Most banks here in my country will only offer you a small amount of loan which someone can afford based on their wages, and what can a little amount of money do? nothing, mostly it can only be used for groceries worth 3 days or 2. If the lower-class person or below wants to borrow reasonable amount of money, he/she will have to go to private loan sectors and accept their unreasonable terms and conditions specially in interest rate, which will only lead them being burrowed by debt day after day. This is one of the reasons why most of my neighbors wanted like a get rich quick scheme, since if they'd wanted to borrow money, they'll have to pay the amount and interest in fast manner and the faster they pay it off, the easier for them to get out of the crisis.

Getting in debt for me varies from person to person and more importantly varies depending on where the country is. Maybe the definition of HOBO in your country is already what we considered lower class here, how much more the poorest of the poor? Thinking about investing in that situation is no longer in their options.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin Was the Only Cryptocurrency? on: March 31, 2023, 02:22:54 AM
ChatGPT didn't tell you that if bitcoin was the only cryptocurrency, it might have ended before now. This is because the eyes of the government would be there, the eyes of the ordinary people will be there, the eyes of big project owners like the owner of Ethereum and even CZ would be there. There would be much manipulations which would have made regulation need to become intensive and then there will be much centralization which would give the government access to bitcoin.
The real point is that alternative cryptocurrencies have made much eyes not to be on bitcoin and greedy fellows would rather want to create their own coins instead of struggling with bitcoin.
Precisely! Alternate coins not only serve as an alternate currency but let's all admit it that it serves as a distraction to all of us, not in a bad way of course but you all get the point. The purpose of cryptocurrency is already semi anti-government due to its decentralized property, and the government will try to take over it before it fully bloomed if it is the only cryptocurrency existed. In the end it will lose it's decentralization due to monopoly and we will having another currency monopolized by the government.

277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on NFT holders on: March 30, 2023, 01:43:37 PM
imagine it

paying tax on ingame purchases.. turns Steam into tax reporting agents of its customers rather than games retailers

so soon you wont be able to play online games without KYC

Only in the US I bet, this is getting out of hands and the current president of the US needs to leave the office for someone better to run, this man is just trying to milk out of every possible thing he can think of, I am hoping that this will only affects all players in the US, I can't do without online gaming, this will suck very bad.
I remembered back then when gamers are very excited about the future of gaming industry as how it was depicted on the anime Sword Art Online (SAO if you know what I mean) yet now it's getting farther and farther from the reality, although we knew that it is close to impossible, doing this act against the gaming community will only leave dreams as dreams. I don't know about other companies but there're few companies who are planning to adopt NFTs such as steam to their gaming experience, and if this new law implemented world wide, how will the players able to afford those taxes? I have been a free to play gamer since the launch of DOTA 2, do we have to go to jail for being unable to pay tax from games? I should've listened to my mom back then and focused on my education. 278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on NFT holders on: March 30, 2023, 01:02:13 PM
Tax the poor. Print for the rich. What a perfectly sound way of running a country! I suppose that they are going broke after all, so one should expect some ridiculous moves in an attempt to keep the machine running...they are only making themselves more prone to uproar and rebellious minds who will create technology and solutions to defy these moves. Let regulators and politicians shoot themselves in the foot, Bitcoin and everyone who believes in it will only be better off for it.
It's just absurd how the government tries to dip their feet on almost everything for the sake of their so called "security". Now, everyone can no longer game in peace. Almost everything requires taxes, and you need to report each asset you own. Right, I have a free arcana from the recent welcome package, where should I register this to declare ownership? ahahaha It isn't even tradeable. This new government laws imposing taxes to everything is getting nonsense. That aside, if this really requires KYC, are we on the way to become pro players? we can no longer create new accounts if we cannot verify using KYC?
279  Local / Pilipinas / Re: GHOST COMMERCE on: March 30, 2023, 09:05:06 AM

280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Public Perspective towards Bitcoin on: March 30, 2023, 07:49:29 AM
no need to force everyone to know bitcoin because by themselves they will find out what bitcoin is, and start entering the world of crypto,
if we give the wrong info, we will be the first to be blamed if they fail,
people who hate crypto basically they don't believe in bitcoin and have experienced bad things in crypto for example fraud in investing in new coins / memes
If I were to be asked to coach someone about crypto, of course I'll immediately turn them down. Firstly, I learned crypto on my own (though not everyone is capable of self-learning), I was like that at first too, but diving into deep knowledge in regards of crypto requires you to be self-reliant. Unlike before when I first learned about crypto, right now there are so many sources for you to learn like google. Adding the fact that here in my county banks and financial institutions are slowly introducing crypto into their platforms, makes it much easier for those who are new to the space about what blockchain technology is.
