21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I believe that Bitcoin will make me independent on: May 21, 2023, 03:30:00 AM
I think it depends on how you deal with it, bitcoin is a good investment for long term many people still don't earn on holding it because of the patience issue, they will not holding it tight in terms of trouble or bear season, but i believe that if you have a very big patience you can get a lot of profit in BTC i dont think that it can make you an independent but i am sure there is a profit on it.
There isn't only profit in trading, but you can gain certainly depending on your strategy. Trading isn't even guaranted to earn money it only depends on every person and their way of thinking since every trade is always a gamble and there will always be risks. That only depends if someone also accepts that certain risk, this is why people tend to be more hopeful once they are also shown big amount of money as a bait. This is what most influencers take advantage of since they knew people will bite the bait just because they are shown someone's income. From their own perspective, it's a big amount of money although it is too good to be true.
22  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you spend more-do you get more? on: May 20, 2023, 11:15:20 PM
I usually have to save money to spend a little because getting it in one day is uncertain, sometimes it can be a lot, sometimes the expenses are even more. as someone with an irregular salary because of investment and trading I decided to minimize expenses so that in some time I can reduce expenses so that I can balance when my income is not like the usual day.
Even for someone like us my friend who has stable jobs wouldn't want to maximize our expenses just because we wanted to, what we eally wanted is for us to dave more money not only to have more investment or play with our money but also for us to have more lee-way in our savings and our spendings in a more beneficial way. It is hard to earn money nowadays since it is very complicated requirements and other stuffs but it is more likely to spend than to earn. That is what reality nowadays is all about. The thing also is that we could not hoard too much money just because we wanted and needed to, and that also depends on what's our move in order for us to have extra income or side hustles which can greatly help us in a long run.
23  Economy / Economics / Re: Helpful mineral resources on: May 20, 2023, 07:23:45 PM
There are really a lot of natural resources there, but the government is not taking action, and there are also a lot of corrupt people there that only think of themselves and not the country alone. Also, also Africa has low support from other countries, which means low investors, so the government can't earn money to start processing things there and not selling them as raw materials as it can gain more profit from it.
We could say that they were  doing illlegal schemes and exploiting  natural resources from everyone, but would you also understood how the way they manage their lives? We all know they are curropt to the point that we hate them, but, is that enough reason for us to hate them? Although it is and it's not that we are criticizing them but they are all monoplozing everything and been all doing monopoloy over centuries, and that's all what made them who theybare today., but what we are truly thinking generally is all about our own financial security.
24  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling is a choice. on: May 20, 2023, 03:43:08 AM
The title is seriously dumb as hell frankly speaking. Who isn't aware of the fact that gambling is a choice? Everything is literally a choice in life. Op should have renamed the title to something more interesting.

Also, the incident that he mentioned isn't something new. Such stuff always happens here and there in the gambling world which is why gamblers should always invest only what they are willing to lose.

However, the majority don't follow this rule and end up regretting it later on.
Although I hate to admit it  but you were right. Problems like this are always there even in different community specially when there is money involved, and since gambling is very prominent in every society, it is bound that this will happen sooner or later. Even if we say that we always here this kind of warnings regarding "gamble what you can afford to lose", it is quite common to hear stories such as they are tempted by their own greed, and could not control their emotions ended up regretting their very own decisions. Which is why I don't really like to meddle if people wanted to do whatever they want since they will learn their own lessons maybe sooner or later but that's their own situation to handle.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Bitcoiner's Expression of Love and Gratitude to Satoshi Nakamoto on: May 19, 2023, 07:52:06 PM
We all have to agree that his knowledge and innovation paved a path for other people to acquire not only wealth but so many opportunities that will only come by if you are at the top of the economic hierarchy. Aside from being grateful, we all knew that he also received a lot of contempt from authorities since what he has made ignited the thought of the authorities that maybe he is creating something so that people will be more convinced to rebel from their authorities. It is not that we didn't understand this very thought, and we are aware what might happen if it was used to be like that, it's just giving the very idea of that is what makes the authority fearful about their positions being threatened.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What a shame on: May 19, 2023, 06:25:06 PM

I read some comments and I am disappointed, many people are just buying Bitcoin but they don't understand that Bitcoin gives power to the people through decentralization, for the first time in history the government is unable to be in total control of something, that's Bitcoin.

Government cannot censor the Bitcoin network because it is decentralized and there is no base of operation where they can barge in and confiscate everything and imprison people who are on the vicinity.  But Government has the power to ban Bitcoin and implement law that can arrest people who are engaging with Bitcoin trading.  That is the sad reality. Government still has the authority in its jurisdiction.  Besides, the government can control the centralized exchanges where most people are trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.

Our freedom with Bitcoin is limited within the Bitcoin Network, when it pass through centralized exchanges to convert it to cash or trade it to other cryptocurrency, the freedom is compromised because centralized exchanges are subject to government regulation.

So far, it can be said that the government has completely failed to stop or control the bitcoin network. But they still have many ways to make it difficult for us to use bitcoin without their permission. Honestly, we will never escape their control, they will have a lot of ways to manage us. Bitcoin can only give us partial freedom, it cannot bring us complete freedom as many people are still dreaming of.

Many years ago, my country completely banned bitcoin, using bitcoin was very difficult even many people were arrested and fined when found using bitcoin. It can be said that with such use of evasion, it cannot be called freedom.
There is no total freedom in this world since we still need to deal with restrictions which in fact can be beneficial if used properly. Traditionally speaking, once the government says that it is harmful, they are only weighing the pros and cons about things, but mostly it is not that they are totally banning everything and they'd become a dictator, coz what actually they are trying to convey is to warn us about the cons, and as you've said they have more ways to control over the usage of cryptocurrency if they wanted to, such as banning it. It's just that most people generally consider it as bad just because someone opposed the idea or just giving us warning about what might happen.
28  Economy / Economics / Re: The Role of Education in Financial Literacy on: May 18, 2023, 04:17:02 PM

On the other hand, some argue that education in finance and economics does not necessarily equate to financial literacy. They point out that many successful investors are self-taught, and that practical experience is the best teacher. Moreover, they contend that education in finance can often be expensive and not accessible to everyone.

I subscribe to this school of thought in a way that if we mean education to mean formal education to have influence in financial literacy and management of funds, I would argue on that because education is education and apart from academic purposes, the best form of education is the informal and by extension semi formal education because that is were the family acculturate all the necessary form of knowledge and wisdom to its member. Intelligence being a part of family inheritance and brilliance is perhaps an academic exercise. However I would agree that there is a relation to education to the learning of financial literacy where it involves cryptocurrency because there are different compartment of cryptocurrency that you actually need to read and write, have a little above basic education to understand it technology, blockchain etc. Most people and youths that are finding it difficult to understand bitcoin and the basic means of usage which is send and receive of coins are mainly people of less education.
The thing is that, most people think that being financially free comes with a cost that they needed to pay for but, they needed to pay to other people, and this is what mostly why they fall for schemes just because others also take advantage of this thought. There have been so many influencers locally and internationally who are offering financial education which in fact that they are also making money to people's lack of financial literacy that can even be learnt by few google searches and also freely. This isn't by manifesting or learning a thing or two, since education is still evolving worldwide and not also everyone is accessible of this said education. Even now we are all constantly evolving and learning.
29  Other / Meta / Re: Request for Assistance: Image Errors on Bitcointalk Threads on: May 17, 2023, 06:08:57 AM
Did you check the threads that are active on this board about the same issue? What you said is the main issue on the Meta board. Please check every song thread before you create anew one.
Based on his post he has knowledge of these threads and information about what's going wrong with imgur images as he has already mentioned about @TryNinja script to convert the images to other site but what he specially talking about is that can anyone replace all those links with new platforms BBcode so the images on the threads are visible again.

But the users have to shift the alternate links to make their post images visible and don't use Imgur anymore when we have forum based image hosting platform so use it for betterment and staying away from these third party softwares.
Thanks for explaining it, you have answered my curiosity. Back then I always keep using imgur whenever I posted images here on this forum, and since there are alternatives there is no need for me to be so worried. Earlier today, I noticed on our local board that there are some images having the same issue as what was posted here so I just ignored it maybe it was my own browser that is somehow not loading those images or maybe my internet network is just too poor.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sending bank statement for verification on: May 17, 2023, 04:55:09 AM
i registered at an online casino and my deposit was not arrived(in casiono) and i contact to their support and they said you need to wait for 10 business days for your refund.

10days are completed and i still didn't received my refund, and they told that "if you don't receive your refund in 10 days then you can contact us with your bank statement"

my question is, is it safe to share bank account statement for verification purposes?  the site is reputable, but in bank statement all my information are available. is it safe to share?

Objectively speaking, 10 business days was a lot. they are asking business statement probably because they want to ensure if the transaction is completed with correct information.
If they are the one who mistakenly send it to wrong account, they must ensure the refund and compensation for your time. If it's your fault sending the information, well you cannot do anything about it.
Yes, bank statement which includes address and contact were mostly used as verification but your information would be at risk. Make sure that the website is truly reputable and can be trusted.
I also think 10 business days is incredibly long. It would mean like two weeks when you add weekends. Insane. Whenever I experience my deposit not going through in 1 business day I get anxious. I can't imagine waiting for straight 14 days. I also think there may be mistake from user side by deposit going through. Sometimes fiat money deposits can differ a lot. Sometimes crypto deposit may stuck if you don't know what you were doing etc. User should be aware.
The longest I have waited for pending transaction is 5 business days at most. Personally, I have never tried playing on an online platform while asking me to provide my bank statement, and for me, it seems like those things are already prying on your personal information since he had deposited using crypto and it doesn't make sense if he was asked to provide personal bank information which is already non-related to KYC. If it happens that I will encounter this kind of platform I will never go back and play on it, since it is already beyond the platform's guidelines to pry for their personal finances, and it's not as if he is greatly in debt with that platform for them to have the rights to ask about his financial information.
Sana mas maging mahigpit pa ang Gcas when it comes to withdrawals and transfer, dapat laging may OTP regardless of its amount, and dapat lahat recorded.
32  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Isa kaba sa my mga bitcoin or any crypto noon? on: May 17, 2023, 12:04:10 AM

nasa 7M+ na doge in total...
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in cryptocurrency? on: May 16, 2023, 09:20:37 PM
Recently, I've been wondering, and based on the people I live with, I'd say that only 20% of them know what cryptocurrency is.
Sometimes I ask my friend or colleague if he knows what Bitcoin is, and if they're young (20-35 years old), they say, "Yes, I've heard about it. But I don't know much about it."
If I'm talking to older people (40–60), mostly they don't know what it is.

We are living in a world of big changes in every aspect of life. But do you think it will be time when cryptocurrency will come into our lives and be normal for all people? Will people be able to trust crypto?

I'm wondering what your opinion is about this.

I think in some time people will trust in crypto. The digital money systems are developing fast, and decentralisation along with blockchain mechanism is the new step in digital banking. The question is will there be crypto-based fiats, or will crypto replace fiats... Also, the world's main fiat currencies inflation is something possible to happen soon, then crypto can be useful.
Soon enough, that will happen. I don't think that fiat will remain as it is in the future because considering the annual increase of inflations, it will open the eyes of the people who took a blind eye because of their trust towards government and for others as well who don't know yet the reality that they are facing as using fiats has been their life for decades already. As of now, everything is still on the process and cryptocurrency is not yet that known in the whole globe, but time will come that it will be used by many.

Quote
The question is will there be crypto-based fiats, or will crypto replace fiats
Maybe but I doubt that the latter will happen as crypto, and fiats are different and have their own utility.

And overall it will just go back to the main subject of this topic about trusting the current currency we are using right now. Since what we have observed failed to do so, it will only end up something wjll replace fiats, although for sure right now there is no guarantee that bitcoin and other cryptocurrency could be the ones replacing it, as what we can see about the advancement of technology right now, it is positive that either one of them or there will be new with better ecosystem or overall has the improvements we lacked as of today will somehow replace the inflation filled fiats.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS an asset. Do you think it's bad? on: May 16, 2023, 02:14:24 PM
As of today I still think that bitcoin is still a great asset to be owned, although I wouldn't recommend doing something reckless such as getting in debt just to invest in bitcoin, but overall it is not that bad to own one. You were also right that it can still be treated as a technology that can offer up infinite possibilities specially in todays age which people are now more inclined to the usage of internet and modern technology. I do believe that the creation of bitcoin and blockchain technology can pave the way to open up more opportunities in the future, not just only in terms of finance but also in different aspects in our modern day.
35  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎰 What software of online casino slots do you prefer? on: May 16, 2023, 07:00:20 AM
I usually like high paying slots or maybe it's just me that I often won on Relax gaming, but well honestly I don't always play slots specially if those platforms requires high deposits since I know that I will have trouble depositing money if ever I play games and I also didn't want to waste much money if only I just wanted to mess with it. Well, I do have some locally online slot games which are way cheaper compared to those since for only $2 I can already have fun playing and spinning those wheels or slot machines. I also agree with @yahoo that in the long run, slots are made for you to lose and that also depends on that person's tolerance towards losing since we are all aware that it is not all the time we experience gains and wins on gamble.
36  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: May 14, 2023, 03:20:38 AM
Most people experience that expenditure is greater than expenses, this is because many people cannot adjust expenditure, they cannot hold back to buy things that are not yet reached so that sometimes they are in debt, from now we have to stop the bad habits so that they do not owe anymore in the future and expenses can be in accordance with income.
This is because people are expectant to their own salaries, just because they have something to wait for every month, they will spend money or even exceed the limits of their own salaries. This is also why they become in debt with whatever corporation is offering any lending. I am not someone who criticize people just because they lend money coz there are people who needs it sometimes for emergency purposes, but there are also who borrows money for no reason for the sake of getting their accounts in good credit scores, and it is also not a bad thing as long as they can pay it before their due dates
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: May 13, 2023, 04:10:19 PM
I know that nobody wanted to get caught in addiction but because of some influence from friends and other gamblers, that gonna happen.
The problem now is how to get out of the cage of addiction since we know that it doesn't work easily especially if a gambler doesn't help themselves. Maybe, if we are serious to stick on our limitations and make it a habit from the start, definitely, we don't get into this tough situation.
If we choose to live in an environment of gamblers then don't expect to be able to stop addiction, my friend once exiled himself living in a village without the internet and he really succeeded in getting rid of his gambling addiction, it's really difficult to get rid of gambling addiction but if there is intention then everything will be lost,

But still, as gamblers, always take care of portion and refrain from gambling because when we are used to looking for pleasure in gambling because basically it starts from being happy, it will also end in curiosity, namely curiosity which is the beginning of addiction.  Wink
Exactly, what they have initially thought as mere curiosity end up as their fun play time and then end up with addiction. Most people tend to forget to play it safe and not focus mainly on their game just to expect them to win in the beginning and ended up being frustrasted due to streak losses. The pleasure of earning instantly is difficult to handle specially for those who are easily swayed, and it will take a lot of courage for someone to be able to escape and accept the reality of being addicted.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does it take to become a Bitcoin investor on: May 13, 2023, 01:04:22 PM

When your bitcoins are stored on centralized exchanges, you won't have full control over them. But that doesn't mean you don't own it, you can withdraw your bitcoins anytime you want. It's still your bitcoin, so you're still an investor.

But I think it's not without risk to hold your bitcoins on exchanges and consider yourself the owner. It is just like you keep your capital with someone else and take it from him at the time of need. But there is no guarantee when someone else will take your money and run away,Because your capital is only yours when it is in your possession.

The example of FTX exchange is infront of us where many investers have lost their capital recently.Exchanges only give you access to your bitcoins and give you only one password, While your bitcoin remains in the possession of the exchange .So according to my opinion it is better that you keep Bitcoin in your personal wallet.
Since then, what's the most important from every user is their own security. One thing I have noticed from people who doesn't want to invest in bitcoin and wanted to keep their moneys on the bank is that, they are too tired to manage their own finances. Also, ever since then, those who owned crypto are advised that it is much better to keep their own finances in which they can manage compared to storing it inside a custodial wallet that has plenty of people in control, and although they are not someone who will intentionally use your data and information but still has a tendency to do it, it is also not fun to think every night that there will be chances that their platform could be breached or your data could be misused or stolen.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in Bitcoin in Student Life on: May 12, 2023, 03:01:44 PM
I was also once a student back then and at that time Bitcoin isn't that popular here in our country or even in my area, so in short, nobody knows about Bitcoin and it feels like I am one step ahead of everyone, but the catch is, I didn't have money to invest nor get hired to some part time jobs since I was underage at that time. So I scoured the internet and looked for jobs which didn't require KYC since I also didn't have a verified ID and also afraid that my identity will get exposed that I am too young for the job. Thankfully I discovered some odd side hustles and also this forum, then I started looking for opportunities here and saved enough money to buy Bitcoin, and the rest is history.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: May 12, 2023, 01:33:28 PM
Well, a gambler needs to be educated and willing to learn these realities, if he or she wants to become a responsible gamblers.

What I have experienced that most of the gamblers lack in discipline and they are motivated by their emotions and gut feelings that they are in gambling not only to make money but rather they will change their fortune by gambling.

It's really sad to see that gamblers are not really willing to learn from thier mistakes and even big losses will not set them off. Too much expectations will never lead to success in gambling.

As what I can see from most gamblers they tend to chase their losses as what the OP has stated, coz they think that they can recover them by the next turn but in reality it's not that simple coz there are so many factors involved when you are gambling. I also agree with what you were trying to convey that too much expectation leads to disappointment, in all honesty those who expect too much specially in gamblinf ends up the most irritated, and I am speaking through experience as what I did observed from my neighbors who are already seasoned gamblers. I have even witnessed someone from my area who lost $500,000 in just a week of playing a game, and I didn't understand how such a person can handle such loss or is he still okay with it, it's just so unreasonable for me, if I were to be asked.
