2601  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: February 24, 2014, 05:38:39 PM
thats impressive...  how much are antminers in $/gh?

and how much space and power do 10 antminers take up?

AntMiners are a flat BTC1.45 (so far)...which equates to ~$4.50 per GH/s a current prices (roughly). Runs at about 360W, size is 5.3" x 6.1" x 11.8" (135mm x 155mm x 300mm). You could probably fit 3 in a 4U space.

they sound good for the home miner... but for people who rent space and power in a datacenter (like me)... the extra cost of hosting (quite bulky, per TH... takes up extra space) and consumes more power.. would make it uneconomic more quickly than other options... although the ability to buy it from stock is a major advantage over most of the conventionally high end mining companies' products like hashfast, cointerra and knc gear, where they only accept pre-orders... and are sold out by the time they ship and so have never ever been in a 'selling from stock' situation.

I'm currently paying approx $150 per KW/month for hosting inclusive of space and power - so multiplied out to be an annual cost (not an ideal calculation) im paying effectively approx $2/GH/year in power/hosting costs right now... and if it was using antminers, i'd be paying $4/GH/year (making the assumption they dont charge more cos they use 3x the space in the rack, which i suspect is unrealistic so lets assume $5/GH/Year is more likely).  So i think that re-iterates my thought that the antminer 180 gh products are more suited to a home mining operation than a commercial scale mining op.

2602  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: February 24, 2014, 05:23:50 PM
Shipping was announced as starting February 24 in China. It's now a little 1:00 AM February 25th in China.

Anyone see any of their orders (placed before feb 23 11pm China time) shipped on the BITMAIN site?

My Feb 16 order is unshipped and I don't have any MYUPS coverage in my area to have Crystal Ball information for advanced tracking.

Often your parcels will arrive before the site gets update to say they have shipped. Try calling UPS and asking if they have a parcel destined for your postcode/address.

No you are not correct

Ask knc and other mining European company
How you do the business's

It is not the mining companies that say how business law goes. It's the normal Tax-law.

We've been running business for 40 years in our family so I do know how the law goes. Just directing to the right path nothing else.

Cheers. Cool Have a nice day.

Apparently you don't know how the law goes - VAT registered businesses in EU buying from other VAT registered businesses do not pay VAT at the point of purchase.

bitcoinultra, I assume the prices on your website would be VAT inclusive, right?

Yeah mate they said they were VAT inclusive, even though they are in $ instead of £

So average time from tapeout to final chips in hand (as long as there are no problems) is around 2 months?

link to KNC wallet. http://beta.kncwallet.com/

I think they are trying to compete with their friend Josh at BFL and their wallet idea.

I use to tell my friends that keeping their bitcoins at MtGox was as safe as any other choice.  God does it look like I was wrong.

I agree, that's how I know VAT to work... as a VAT registered company, you'll pay the VAT on the purchase and submit your VAT return at the end of the tax year to claim it back...

Actually we have all been over this a million times.

He is talking about buying/selling from companies in other countries and EU VAT rules.

There is an option if a VAT registered company buys from another VAT registered company in a different EU country, if the buyer supplies their VAT number to the seller then the seller does not have to charge the VAT.

e.g. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/managing/international/exports/goods.htm

Quote
Zero-rating goods sold within the EU

If you're sending goods to someone who is genuinely registered for VAT in the destination EU country, you can zero-rate the supply for VAT purposes, provided you meet all the conditions below.

To account for the VAT on zero-rated sales to another EU country, include the value of the goods and services in your VAT Return in Box 6 and Box 8 in the usual way. If any VAT is due in the destination country, then your customer pays it to the tax office in their country.

You can only zero-rate these supplies when all these conditions are met:

the goods are sent out of the UK to somewhere in another EU country
whoever you're sending them to is genuinely registered for VAT in another EU country
you get their VAT registration number - including the two letter country code - and show it on your sales invoice
you've got paperwork showing that the goods have gone out of the UK - 'evidence of removal'
you dispatch the goods and get evidence of removal within a set time - which is normally three months

Evidence of removal will include a number of things like:

  • customer orders
  • correspondence with customers
  • sales invoices
  • packing lists
  • invoices from hauliers
  • bank statements
  • consignment notes showing the goods have been received in another EU country

These documents must show details of:

  • your business
  • your customer
  • the goods and their value
  • the method of transport and route
  • where the goods are going to

The description of the goods mustn't be vague.

If the evidence is unsatisfactory, then you may have to pay all the VAT. You must keep all the evidence for six years and show it to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) if they ask to see it.

If you can't get this evidence in time you must account for VAT on your return when the time limit has passed.

KNC Wallet doesn't work on a Galaxy Tab 3.

Can't input a number that it won't say 'Invaild Phone Number'

Wild guess the app checks the phone number associated with the device which mine doesn't have.

are you entering your country code also?

His tablet does not have a SIM

Thanks for this.  Free 0.0086 BTC obtained Smiley

Not even enough for a game of satoshidice, now that is a big F you from KnC....... how dare they give away dust.....
I think it's a great marketing idea and a $25,000 investment to get more users involved in BTC.
All good.

I was speaking in jest and trying to mimic the moans and groans that have filled this thread this year.......

lol..sorry (I just never know on this thread)
At the same time though, i only found out about the app by reading this thread a few weeks back, so joined the mailing list as a beta tester.
I got a newsletter update today about the official appstore release. I have not read anything about this app else where and i highly doubt it has been advertised to a market who do not already own bitcoin.
I think they are relying on it becoming a bit "viral"

It is quite interesting considering that you usually have to pay $5 for an app that they are effectively paying people $5 to use the app.
2609  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 20, 2014, 09:59:58 PM
How come you guys didn’t buy direct from Bitmine?  I am asking because I am not decided to buy from AMT or just go to the source for end of March delivery as per Bitmine site.  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Have you been in the Bitmine thread? Its not much prettier than here.

This of course is all just MY Opinion. I could be wrong. (but don't count on it)

Smiley

If it's just your opinion, and thank you for putting that in there, then surely they can't be "facts of life" or. "reality" right?

First evening of an October Jupiter with 4 VRM's so many things I need to go back through.  I get the buzz noise even with adding voltage as well.  It calms them down but still HW errors.  I was only doing 201 and 221.  I need to buy some more fans tomorrow and retry.

HW errors is normal, its the % of HW errors that is important, anything <1% is nothing to worry about. Also HW errors often start high and settle down over time, so give it a day and see what the status is.

Bitmain sold out, next shipping 28th, but old price and not opened orders
I think that actually they already sold out the 28th batch.
they reopened sales on 14th with shipping for 18th and sold out quick
found no info that 28th batch was ever opened. price for +2 weeks is ridicolous tough

There was a sale on the 14th - Sold out in 1 second (about 15 - 20 machines)
Then one on the 15th - Sold out in about 5 seconds (about 15-20 machines)
Then one on the 16th (Shipping on the 28th) - Sold out in 12 hours. (500+ machines)

Whoever this is, they increased hashing rate ~10% in the last 4 days. Now up to ~1ph or 20% of eligius pool (4% of the whole network).
The other account (http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX) is dropping a little bit.

Thats BITMAIN

Top, bottom or both are bitmain? Someone had posted that top is KnC.

The one ending in SeX is Bitmain

Question how can this Happen if my Wallet is Encrypted , With a very long password.

Obviously the password wasn't strong enough. You should be using one of the 63 character ascii passwords from grc.com/password, the nice thing is these passwords never get regenerated no matter how times you refresh Steve Gibson's website. Smiley

Doesn't matter how long your password is if you have a keylogger trojan on your machine.

Dude, I've been on this forum since 2011.  You should have seen how much of a troll-pit it was back then.  When bitcoin bubbled to $30 for the first time and crashed back down to $3.  I eat trolls for breakfast and spin their heads for fun  Cheesy

Edit:  When I get bored or have something to do, I'll leave them alone.  These trolls must have very empty lives to put so much time into spreading hate and FUD on this forum so much plus so often.  Me I've started a business and made money off this forum.  My thread has nearly over a thousand posts and fifty pages.  In its very early days the thread was a troll city them trying to affect my fundraising.  Although we raised the funds and since then every IPO investor has had the opportunity to cash out at over a 100% bitcoin profit.

Fair enough, you just sounded like it bothered you more than you should Smiley That'll show me to try and teach grandmother to suck eggs Cheesy
