I got these cheeseburgers...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_4nupAxvNw

Seriously though, the signature campaigns are a good start as you would get paid for constructive posts as you try to find some other work on this site. Also there's a site called Elance - www.elance.com - which serves as a job posting board for all sorts of jobs, some of which might be translations of documents from English to Spanish. You should check it out.

Possum, did you ever get those coins graded? I'm particularly interested in your 2011 S2

Not yet. I'll probably be able to send all three in in September some time. I've been a bit too busy to make it a priority.

When I do get them graded, I'll be sure share the outcomes with the Crew.

Also, I could easily just send pictures to anyone who's interested. The two silvers I have are near perfect. The 2011 looks great but isn't perfect - It's definitely MS but might not get 65 or higher. Maybe I'm just being critical about them, the brass coins tarnish and get patina whereas the silvers do not.

personally you wouldn't mind waiting a few days. You are about as bright as a black light in the middle of an Alaskan winter. And The word "faith" is first found in the Bible in Exodus 21:8. Was indeed first a religious term and is. you can attempt to take it out of its original context and use it for something else. But it will always be a religious word because that is where it's roots are. so to say you have faith in someone would be (as in God) because you are now comparing the root to the present. truth comes from those that understand. Folly comes from those that speak and understand not. Shhhh

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith

Before you speak, think. Above is the link to the wikipedia definition of "Faith" (just incase the previous Merriam Webster version didn't suit you. Faith is certainly used in the religious context but the word has meaning, definition far larger than religious context.

And here's a link to the business and investment use of the word "Faith", which is the 'driven by business principles' usage I referred to. The "full faith and credit" -> http://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/full-faith-credit.asp

If you disagree with my interpretation of the business context of what's going on here, why don't you explain to me where I'm wrong or offer an alternative point of view? I suspect it's because you don't know. You're just calling me out because you feel stupid now after having read my response.

Don't call me out and then get pissy when I defend myself and resort to name calling. We're a community, show some respect to your neighbors. If you're seriously calling me out because you'd prefer that I used the word "trust" instead of "faith" (which are synonyms) you need to get a life.

Anyone get paid yet? Or are you all still "losing faith" with Earthgiver?

I am waiting for possum to post...then the whole bid on every Casascius item crew will be here!

LOL!!!! Possum will surely come just a matter of time.

ha that guy spams every cas coin thread, has he ever bought one?

Just saw this, thought it deserved a dedicated response. I've purchased 3 Cas coins in the last month - one 2011 BTC1 series 2, one 2013 BTC0.10 silver, and one 2013 BTC1 silver and gold. I purchased them all through eBay because I was able to find (what I think) are slightly better deals there.

Nosterp, this is the first time I've seen you post on a Casascius thread, are you mostly just a spectator?

After much suspense and a personal invitation from justbtcme, I have arrived to share my wisdom or wise-cracks with you all.

I kid of course, I think you must only like that I tried to offer escrow services as a Newbie with zero trust.

As a wise ass I'll say - so much eager bidding without pictures? Grading helps but purchases made sight unseen are risky business!

As a wise man I'll say - the 5 BTC coins (regardless of series) are equally rare, sub 500 and the 10 BTC coins are even MORE rare. I see the error 5 BTC coin is going being bid up to about BTC8.50. This represents a greater premium (for the same error) than what the 2011 error coins go for and this 5 BTC error coin is significantly more rare! Someone might get a real steal or their might be a lot of bidding left to be done on this one. The 2011 errors were going for BTC3, no? That represents a 5x multiple (or BTC2.5 premium) over the face value of the coin in US. No I don't think the same premium multiple should apply just because the coin has greater face value (BTC5 vs BTC1) but this 5 BTC error coin IS 10x more rare (500 mintage vs. 5000 mintage for the 2011 error). Maybe the 5 BTC error coin deserves a 10x higher premium because it's 10x more rare? If you agree with my logic that would put the value of this coin at BTC30 (and it's currently bid up to BTC8.50!) My math is taking the BTC2.5 premium for the 2011 error, times 10 to account for the scarcity plus the face value of BTC5.

For me however, they're too rich of an acquisition. Don't worry, I'm sure with my recent participation in a signature campaign and my barely member status I'll be able to save up enough virtual coin to make me an honest buyer soon. (I don't want to pull a Clark Griswold justifying a big purchase with the promise of some bonus from work that never comes!)

How many of the "Casascius Crew" have these coins in their collection already?  And can the OP share some pictures? The bling always helps bring more buyers to the table.

I look forward to seeing what they go for AND if anyone thinks my logic on valuation is crazy.

P.S. if escrow services are needed I'll stake my reputation on this forum for that first opportunity - for tips only, of course.
2606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's brave/stupid enough to invest their life savings into Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2014, 06:13:41 AM
so I guess the winklevoss and others are stupid and brave for investions tons of there funds into bitcoin am I right?  I mean sheessh they gotta be pretty dumb to do so.

Do you think it's their life savings they're investing? I highly doubt it. And with their kind of money they can afford to risk amounts that are astronomical to most of us.
2607  Economy / Economics / Re: Charles de Gaulle has warned us from all the misfortunes we've had since 2000 on: August 16, 2014, 06:10:30 AM
Bitcoin is down over 16% in nearly a week's time, nothing stable about that!

Only time will tell though...
2608  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2011 S2 MS65 Casascius coin on: August 16, 2014, 06:05:48 AM
If I recalled correctly, Mike's markup on the 2011 coins were around 0.2-0.5, can anyone confirm this?

Im pretty sure it was much higher. Bitcoin was still around a couple dollars each, with the coin, cost of BTC on the coin, etc. I think they were a few bitcoin. Correct me if I'm wrong.

From Mike's original sale thread - man those were shiny!! Smiley

Still building the web content to sell these online.  These turned out sweet!  Until then, supply shipping info and ask me in PM for a PGP signed bitcoin payment address.

These are a REAL BITCOIN each worth 1 BTC.  One side has a hologram.  Underneath the hologram layer is a private key.  The first 8 characters of the bitcoin address appears on each coin.

Current pricing: 1.25 BTC per coin for up to 10 coins.  1.20 BTC per coin for up to 100 coins.  Add 1.00 BTC for shipping (any quantity, and it will be sent USPS Priority Mail insured for our mutual protection).  Outside US, please let me do some research to find out the best way to ship these (as they are heavy in quantity and I prefer to ship them insured).

Just gotta be an MS68 in there somewhere... Grin

Those are the wrong series coin, no?
2609  Economy / Services / Re: ★☆★ 777Coin Signature & Personal MSG Campaign ★☆★ Newb,jr,mem Ref Bonus 10%! on: August 16, 2014, 05:58:47 AM
The faith I speak of here is not driven by religious principles, it's driven by business principles.

In business dealings there's a function called accounts receivable, it's the function of collecting money for services delivered. In this circumstance we've all provided a service for which Lightlord is the buyer. Our service has been completed and we're waiting for payment. Often companies set payment due dates at 30 or 45 days out and often (in the "real world of business" as you call it) the business owing the invoice doesn't pay exactly at the 30 or 45 days, but maybe longer (the term of how long is referred to as days sales outstanding.) We're all going through the same thing now. This current late payment, two days late, is meaningless. And that faith I speak of is a trust that is required in a business transaction.

If you don't prefer the way I think about, here's another way to think about it. Every other reputable campaign pays monthly and you all are bitching about waiting 12 days since the last payment?! That kind of fuss is unnecessary, it's childish. The reality is that we all provide a service before getting paid. And at the point where you or anyone else believes they can't wait for that payment to come, you or anyone else should end their participation.

And you're right, Lightlord does pay me, he pays me for every constructive post I make.

Don't sweat the payments - Lightlord has a great reputation, left a post a few days back that payment would be soon, and he'll likely pay an amount equal to whatever post count you've tallied since the last payment (up to the maximums of course).

Show some faith and focus your time on writing constructive posts where you think you can contribute to the conversation in all the various discussions going on in this forum!
Does he pay you to write this junk bro.. seriously have faith and you will get paid. that is one of the stupidest things i have heard lately. this is a virtual business. you work and you get paid, on time! or you quit. faith has nothing to do with it. you trying to bring God into someones failure to do the right thing, just to keep people hanging on is beyond sad. It is pathetic!
2610  Economy / Economics / Re: Someone is buying ... a lot more than in May on: August 16, 2014, 05:38:43 AM
The selling is driving the decline though, not the buyer matching the transactions.

The sell order has to come first (in this case) otherwise the price would be rising. That said, since the seller is initiating the transaction the buyer could be the exchanges, companies like Coinbase, other intermediaries, or folks trying to establish hedge fund style investments in Bitcoin (i.e., the Winklevoss boys or other Silicon Valley partners).

Other thoughts?

You came to Bitcointalk.org to sell your services for Pounds Sterling? I think you're missing the point of this forum...how much do you charge in Bitcoin?

2613  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 80 btc around the world on: August 15, 2014, 08:57:22 PM

right now 0,01% of the world has adopted bitcoin and its value is 500$-imagine if this amount was 0,1%. The value of one bitcoin would become 5000$

I'm concerned that you don't know how the value of one Bitcoin is influenced by higher adoption. Increased adoption of Bitcoin will not necessarily increase the value per Bitcoin, and the value of Bitcoin will definitely not be correlated to the percent of adoption.

If you go on this trip, make sure you have some smart "hero-type" members from this forum and the Bitcoin community to help you provide accurate information. Maybe your travels can be the spirit of what Bitcoin can do, the reality of it, using it for every day needs, and your stops and speaking engagements can highlight the real experts of the community and currency.
2614  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 80 btc around the world on: August 15, 2014, 08:51:44 PM
Going on a worldwide tour of advocacy of Bitcoin is a great idea. Asking people to fund your world travels not so much.

General people have nothing to gain except future tales of how you've spent their money to talk to someone in New Zealand about Bitcoin.

You should approach business, Bitcoin dependent businesses, about sponsoring your tour and you should have a specific list of stops, conferences, speaking engagements, or other plans to speak to people about Bitcoin (which in turn allows your advertisers to get more worldwide exposure.)

The gambling sites that have ad campaigns on this forum might be interested in supporting you.
2615  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ongoing Civil War in America on: August 15, 2014, 07:54:29 PM
The implication that numerous actors are also political or world figures is hilarious. The pictures are clearly not of the same person yet the OP keeps making it seem like he/she has uncovered some great scheme.

Treason is never funny. This conspiracy theory is almost hilarious and a waste of everyone's time. The more you have to explain it the less likely it is to have occurred.
2616  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obamacare Official Caught Telling Employee To Delete Emails on: August 15, 2014, 07:52:44 PM
I don't understand why this should be alarming or an issue?

The Healthcare.Gov website rollout was a disaster...everyone knows it. So how could uncovering a deleted email make the existing disastrous rollout worse?
2617  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it a bad decision to payoff mortgage early on: August 15, 2014, 07:47:25 PM
It depends on what you'd be using the extra money (that would be used to payoff the mortgage early) for otherwise?

IF it's just sitting in a savings account, earning very little interest, it might be smart to payoff the mortgage early, resulting in a 4.4% return on that money (in the form of having avoided the interest).

If you're able to make more than 4.4% on that extra money it would not be as wise to payoff the mortgage early.

The question can't be answered as simply as I just described it but this is how you should start to think about it. Remember that owing no one is always better than owing someone.
2618  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ongoing Civil War in America on: August 15, 2014, 07:43:40 PM
At least your rationale, explanation, and accusations are simple and easy to follow. That's what makes all of this such a plausible story!

Psych.

What are they protesting?

Because they think the kid that was shot and killed was done so over racist pretenses.

The reality is that: 1) its a tragedy this kid died, 2) no one knows (yet) if this kid was mouthing off and deserving of restraint or surrendering, and 3) no one wants to let the justice system apply penalty where its due before they convict the accused (on both sides) in the court of public opinion.

Ha, so is the Dollar!

Any medium of exchange that is widely accepted and anonymously owned will be a favorite of terrorists. The currency isn't the problem. There have always been thugs in the world...
