2621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 12, 2017, 11:24:34 PM
Well after a day of whacking off here on the computer (wait, whacking away) I finally have all my crapcoin-classic coins moved from old wallets. What a trip down "get this old POS to work again" memory lane.

Now funny that but the transactions on Cash chain are running slow as shit. Gee I thought this was so the coin of the future with big big blocks or somesuch crap. Can't even spend it...

Reminds me of catcoin.

Yeah really, total crap coin. My coins are stuck, what is this Shit?
It's called a shitcoin. Fortunately I was able to move a lot of it over to Bitcoin (where the transaction still was fine, maybe a few minutes slower) before the fuckening.

So what's happening today. Anything interesting?
2624  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Avalon didn't want to hash on: November 11, 2017, 09:37:31 PM
Interesting. Is the SPI cable plugged into the left side of the unit (there are two plugs, I've found the A6's are happier with the plug in the left side one, not the right as viewed from rear). Likewise you have a straight through cable, right?

With the miner not plugged into the USB thing, does it stay green?

I have avalone 721 and respbarry pi 1
but when I try to open 192.168.0.100 the page cant reach
I change the dns and protocol then I los my pc connection any help please?
So you were able to connect, then you changed the parameters and now it's stuck?

I wonder if you could just re-download the Rpi software onto a new SD card, pop that into the 741's Pi, boot up DHCP mode, connect, configure, and get back into business.

Looks like the 2mb blockers are having a hissy fit and selling BTC for the cash crud. I still haven't split my wallets, so I really don't care too much about the whole thing other than it seems to be shifting a lot of hashing power off BTC. Which is making both profitable to mine which means that people will start bringing Monarchs back online which is kind of funny....

2627  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 741 didn't mine on: November 11, 2017, 04:35:13 PM
Just checking, if you use the default pools (the ckminer ones), does the unit mine? I've noticed it's exceptionally sensitive to the pool settings in the URL....

The 12 volt PCIe plug. You can also find the voltage in the advanced settings parameter.
2629  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dead S9 Boards, any tips? on: November 11, 2017, 04:34:25 AM
Good day my friend,

I always have the same problem if my ASIC stops for some period of time due to lack of electricity.

Luckily I found solution for my S9 and T9 machines!!!

During start of ASIC you will need to blow with a heated fan(like your girlfrend uses for dry hair after shover) or industrial one.

You need to heat hasging boards while it starts and passes all tets. Normal working temperature of the boards is 40 degres Celcius  so they just don't receive enought temperature to check all chain.

I''m not a specialist and do not know why it works Grin.

Good luck maybe it will help you too.
Believe it or not, I stumbled on the same solution while helping Ognasty get an R4 running. Warm up the air and boards going into it, then fire with power. Once it is hashing never shut it down.

This probably is rooted in a particular chip that has microfractures in the solder joint to the board. Titans would sometimes do this, to fix it permantly I would heat the board up on the preheater without the sink, then use Kestrel flux and air to reheat the chips, then put back together.

If anyone wants to send me a dead S9 board or two I can give this a try.

2630  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 6 BRICKED how to fix!!??? on: November 11, 2017, 02:06:24 AM
I have eight (Cool Avalon 6 miners that are currently bricked.  I have done all the usual troubleshooting techniques.  New USB cables.  More powerful amperage on USB cube powering Rasbperry Pi 3.  Everything works on one rig I have setup and so I know the rig I am using to troubleshoot these miners is working.  Some I plug in and the fan comes on but never get green light or blue or red on back.  Some fan wont even come on.  Some run full bore and just sit and I can see them on CGminer but can not get them to hash or do anything else.  Please help because at one point I had 32 T/hs going strong and now I am at 3.6 t/hs with the one that somehow has survived.  I have plenty of power going to everything and no breakers ever popped before.

Also, once these became bricked I have tried the MM firmware flash to no avail so far with any bricked miner.

Hope this community can help me because I am at my lasts wit end here and will soon give up mining boooooo!!!
Hm. Want to send a few of them over here and I'll take a look?

2631  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Question on Mining with Avalon 6 miners - AUC & cord on: November 10, 2017, 11:09:28 PM
Actually the AUC is a USB to I2C/SPI converter. Just Google AUC USB-I2C converter and you will find several. Just make sure the connectors on them look right.
Darn, someone beat me to it on rigging straight to the Pi board.

2633  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer S9 using EVGA 166G2 burnt, what's the reason ? on: November 09, 2017, 01:28:52 AM
I had the same problem with my S9. Now hashing on the two remaining boards with a different power supply and cables.

So, a question. Is it possible the board with burnt connectors can be repaired?

Thanks!

Yes, I can repair these properly. If you do it yourself, don't just use a soldering iron, you need board preheat and a good bit of flux or the board will be wrecked. If you need it fixed let me know.

As to what causes it, as the voltage drops on the 12v rail the miner compensates by pulling more current (I). Power=Current times voltage, so as voltage goes down current goes up. This causes more heat which causes the resistance on the connector to grow which causes more current pulled which causes more heat until you get the above. Solution is use a good power supply and keep an eye on the temps. If they are getting warm to the touch, slow the miner down.

You can also use better connectors. I use nickel ones myself instead of plated brass.
2634  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Is this normal ? on: November 09, 2017, 01:27:17 AM
Over the short term there is going to be variations, also remember miners can run 10% faster or slower and still be in spec. So .95 is still within the bounds of a 1.1th miner.

Just run it for a few weeks and relax.
2635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 08, 2017, 03:32:35 AM
Back to 7350 or so. Yawn.
2636  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ever Decreasing Hash Rate on: November 08, 2017, 03:29:00 AM
What I have found that is optimal is to take a row of (BFL Singles, A6's, Neptunes, Titans, whatever is square-ish) and line them up in a window with the sash holding them down. Point the fans outward in the summer and you have a whole house fan that is exhausting heat outside. In winter point fan inside and you get nice warm fresh air in your house.

Works. The key is never try to cool the air coming out of the miner, just get rid of it.
2637  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Miner Life and Dead Hashboards on: November 07, 2017, 10:31:25 PM
Only cheap low power factor ones. The raction time against the sine wave causes heat which can cause components to fail even under current limits. That's on the AC side.

A good power supply has PFC (power factor correction) so that's not a problem. Putting a fuse on each miner's supply lines is another way to prevent that sort of a fire with a larger supply.
2638  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AVALON 6 CURRENTLY on: November 07, 2017, 08:23:19 PM
Well it is interesting. What happened is there is a direct 12 volt hard short between +12 on the bad side of the miner through the line that burned to the MCU. Granted, no schematics but it looks like the chip in question that shorted may be the voltage detector for the 12v rail. This would explain why the MCU now sees locked values on the other side.

Next question is can I flash a new Spartan with enough firmware to allow a load of bootstrap code.
2639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Miner Life and Dead Hashboards on: November 07, 2017, 08:02:33 PM
That's easy. I'm writing a FAQ of things in the mining support forum.

I'd say #10 is running the miner in a horse barn and having the board coated in hay and horse crap. :-)

I'd recommend setting the miners so they exhaust outside, like a whole-house fan. They will pull in cool air from the rest of the house, heat it, then expel it. Should fix problem.
