It all depends on your location and your hardware.
2622  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come I can't post?? on: January 25, 2014, 03:16:38 PM
thank you!

weird thing is i have a feeling they will raise it again

You are welcome.
At least, there is nothing bad for being a newbie now except that "newbie" tag. Tongue
2623  Other / Meta / Re: Why my activity doesn't increase? on: January 25, 2014, 03:10:43 PM
It does not depend on how long you've been registered.

e.g. if you post 14 times in one day in 2011 and then 14 times in one day in 2014 your activity will be 28.

I don't think it works like that.....Or, maybe I was having a wrong info all the time...

I think that's about right. You can get a max 14 points per two week period.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

I have read that post when I first signup, but it seems I have misunderstand it starting from the very first day lol.

I originally thought that an unused old account (say, signup in 2011, but with 0 posts) can get himself promoted very fast by just keep posting. Cheesy
2624  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: difficulty change date on: January 25, 2014, 03:03:37 PM
As difficulty adjusts itself every 2016 blocks, in case you want to know the other difficulty change dates, you can check the block data yourself.

For example, the next adjustment will happens after block #284255 (=282239+2016) is found.
2625  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: difficulty change date on: January 25, 2014, 02:56:04 PM
Around 24 January 2014 23:05 GMT not sure though.

To be more exact, the last block before the adjustment is Block #282239.
After it is found, the difficulty goes up.

Block #282239, Difficulty: 1789546951.05, Timestamp: 2014-01-24 13:25:11 (UTC)

Block #282240, Difficulty: 2193847870.17, Timestamp: 2014-01-24 13:28:46 (UTC)

2626  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Went from Member to Newbie ?? on: January 25, 2014, 02:41:17 PM
I believe the powers that be mentioned that it's a glitch and that they're looking into it.

Nah, the membergroup limits were changed so some members were demoted, but there is also glitch with the new changes.

The change on membergroup should demoted OP from "Member" to "Jr. Member".
But, due to the glitch, OP is now stuck as "Newbie".

To know the details, feel free to click the links posted in my above post.
2627  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Associate identity to Bitcoin Address on: January 25, 2014, 02:15:14 PM

in blockchain.info, some known bitcoin address are tagged (like satoshi dice or lucky bit)
I thought was only public address but i see also private person could associate their name to the address (eg. https://blockchain.info/it/address/15qSxP1SQcUX3o4nhkfdbgyoWEFMomJ4rZ)

How to do that?

https://blockchain.info/tags
You can label your own address, or tag any other addresses found on the web.
2628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come I can't post? on: January 25, 2014, 02:05:26 PM
I've wanted to help a few people on this forum with my technical knowledge since I'm a web developer and have been studying bitcoin for some time now, but I dont know what I have to do to no longer be considered a 'newbie'...

you need to make 10 posts at newbie section. Try to help some1 here. As you'll get 10 posts you'll be able to post elcewhere

No you don't. You can post everywhere now and the previous restrictions were only 1 posts and a four hour wait.

The 10 posts requirement was LONG gone, but I still see people referring it again and again.
I don't even know how the newcomers know that OLD requirement lol.

After the recent change on membergroup, you now need 30 activity to be jr member.

In case someone is curious or confused about OP's situation (42 activity but still newbie), feel free to check the post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425243.msg4679090#msg4679090

There's apparently a bug preventing Newbies from being promoted. I'll look into it when I have time. I don't think that there's any major disadvantage to being a Newbie now.
2632  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: January 25, 2014, 01:42:49 PM
Why are the transaction amounts shown defaulting back to my local currency (EUR) instead of BTC? Since a week or so this is happening most of the time and it's getting really annoying that the site doesn't remember my preference for BTC and I have to click on the amount to change it back to BTC. By the way, why is it defaulting to local currency? imho the standard should be BTC.
Seriously blockchain, for a bitcoin website this is stupidly absurd. I have to change this every time I change pages on your website. wtf.

+1 here.
It would be helpful to some people, by enabling them to see the tx values in USD, or other currencies.
But, the default setting should always be BTC.
2633  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING! Someone just took my Bitcoin from my blockchain.info account on: January 25, 2014, 01:39:07 PM

Those IPs may not be the IP of the thief, but the nodes that relayed the tx.
2634  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info: STOP DEFAULTING TO USD on: January 25, 2014, 01:34:48 PM
I do agree that it is quite annoying.
But, OP you should calm down a bit.

2635  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox Withdraw to USD on: January 25, 2014, 01:28:54 PM
Does anyone know the average time it's currently taking?

From what I have heard, people have been waiting for months for their USD withdrawals.
Maybe you can a better answer here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179586.2960
2636  Economy / Gambling / Re: LuckyBit - putting suspense back into gambling on: January 25, 2014, 01:26:00 PM
Can you make the 50k bet ball special color? So we can see the different and know who win it.

It's a great idea, but unfortunately we cannot easily do this! Sad It's too complex to pull it off in a hurry - maybe for the 100,000 bet?

When the bet counter is close to 49900, probably everyone will start sending tons of bets (maybe 10 bets in a tx).
How can we tell which bet is the 50000th bet, when there is no bet ID or something like that?
2637  Economy / Economics / Re: Difference in exchange rates... on: January 25, 2014, 01:14:22 PM
Seriously, I don't understand why mtgox is still in business.

If you want to sell bitcoin, you won't go there because of the terrible delay in withdrawal.
If you want to buy bitcoin, you won't go there because of the terribly high price.

2638  Economy / Economics / Re: mtGox vs btc-e price? on: January 25, 2014, 01:08:02 PM
You need to wait for weeks for ID verification, but that is just the beginning. Tongue

Just as the above persons mentioned, there is a terrible delay for USD withdrawal from mtgox.
People have been waiting for months to get the USD.

OMFG mtgox is 100 more than btc-e. why aren't you guys buying on btc-e and selling on mtgox?

I would be, but I have been waiting for 3 months for mtgox to approve my account......
btc-e approved it in 1 day....

If anyone that has trust enough wants to sell for me at mtgox I'm game. i need a mtgox account!!! we will need to discuss the details

shhhh... Keep it a secret and get rich!

lol.
