1661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you get Activity on your account? on: February 05, 2014, 06:32:39 AM
I have something like 55 post or so but 14 activity?

time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

R0yalAir is right.

OP, you can find those info in a sticky post in Meta.

1662  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Legit bitcoin faucets sites on: February 05, 2014, 06:28:12 AM
Can you please share some legit bitcoin faucet sites, or sites where I can earn bitcoins. I just want to earn some bitcoins without buying it or mining first. Thanks!

Off-topic.
It will be more efficient to earn your bitcoin by selling services instead.

1664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would happen if half or many many users lost their wallets? on: February 05, 2014, 06:24:35 AM
Hi all, I am a newbie in Bitcoin. I have a stupid question that what is the impact if most of the users lost their wallets?
To my understanding, the number of Bitcoin issued is a fixed amount, if the situation mentioned above happens, what is the impact to the hope ecosystem of Bitcoin?

That is a good question. If 1/2 of the users lost their wallets, the developers would probably try to understand why. But in terms of valuation, I think the price would gradually increase due to the decrease in supply. That's based on the assumption that whatever is broken gets fixed.

People lost their bitcoin not because of something broken lol.
They throw away / format their computer before making backups.
They forget the long password used to encrypt their wallets.
They keep their paper wallets in a "safe place", and they somehow can't find it afterwards.

Before buying any equipment and hashrate, check the profit calculator first.

1671  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A QUICK READ OF THE NEWBIE README on: February 03, 2014, 04:11:11 PM

are you sure activity is updated every 30 mins .. because i don't think so.. atleast not for newbie member..!

You can only get a max 14 activity every two weeks. Not sure what the 30 minutes means.
quarkyplum mentioned that activity is updated every 30min, if he's open to suggestions he can change it to 14days and if he can add the time limit one has to face while posting for e.g: i'm a newbie i have to wait 360secs before posting new comment i'm sure the time limit declines after every level of membership you achieve can you post what is the time limit according to level of membership. Smiley thanks in advance

Activity does update every 30 minutes.
It is perfectly correct.

Your activity is "stuck" at 14, because it is exactly how activity is calculated.
It is NOT your post count, check the OP again, and you will find:
Activity = min(time * 14, posts)

1673  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cudaminer and GTX780 on: February 03, 2014, 04:07:17 PM
The latest version of Cudaminer seems to contain a HUGE increase in KHashes. My Zotac GTX570 is hashing away at 245KHash, which I never expected from such a mediocre card.

I'm not complaining Smiley Still gotta add a couple of decent Radeons though, and get going for real Smiley

Rit.

Thanks for your report.
Your hashrate is so much better than that here lol.

& if i run it as a dual boot & my windows gets a virus, are my coins safe if they are on the same hard drive but on the linux side?

Just use a boot cd to run linux.

If you can, you should run just linux.
1675  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best software for 2 Antminer U1's? And overclocking? on: February 03, 2014, 03:56:01 PM
I ordered a couple of Antminer U1's just to play with and I'm wondering what mining software would be the best to use. Is there a good guide on how to set them up?

Use BFGminer or CGminer to mine with your U1s. I prefer BFGminer because it looks a bit better, but they both do the same job.

and have a look here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=437666.0 on setting it up.

Also, in the amazon review by DJ Knight he says he was able to overclock them to 2.5 GH/s using AntGen. Is that not safe as they only say to overclock to 2.2 GH/s?

All overclocking has some detrimental effect, and carries some risk of damage. Not all devices can be o/c'd to the same level. Start with a small overclock, then make small steps checking the hardware errors and stability. Extra cooling may be required.

Keep a close look at the temp when you try OC.
Don't do it aggressively...instead increase the clock rate step by step...
1676  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 120GH/s Rig at 400$ profitable? on: February 03, 2014, 03:54:12 PM
Two weeks off? Maybe the unit works and now he's busy running a massive mining rig operation Tongue

Or maybe he found mining is too difficulty and troublesome, and so he left the bitcoin world. Tongue

1678  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GroupBuy Help on: February 03, 2014, 03:50:32 PM
Hi folks, i wanna open a BitFury group buy.
I own 2 BitFury:
450gh/s x2 = 900-1000 gh/s

I think about doing a Group Buy with them, if are you asking why?
I answer you right now: Electricity fees, and overall: if them get broken?? I'll have my ass in safe place.

So if i start a new gb with immediate hashing at good price and low electricity fees, you'll might be interested?

This is not a group buy.
You need to give us more details, eg. the price, electricity and maintenance fees, etc.

1680  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is kraken.com a scam? on: February 03, 2014, 03:46:50 PM
always use the most famous trading site and stand out of the new 1

No, MTgox= scam

The most used is not always the best.

Furthermore Kraken.com is associated with Fidor bank so security is not an issue.

Mtgox is the most infamous exchange lol.
Stay away from it.
