i can confirm, i am escrow service

hm...no trade history lol...
1642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you recommend some official escrow services? on: February 05, 2014, 07:41:22 AM
Everyone BE VERY CAREFUL OF USING AN EXCROW PERSON ON THIS FORUM.

There is an EXTREMELY well know escrow provider who just disappeared recently. If you DO enlist a bitcointalk user to hold your escrow, be SURE there is a mechanism to get paid if that person disappears.

I've seen people learn this the hard way. Single person escrow means VERY LITTLE.

BTW, in general just be very careful on this site. People WILL steal from you. Even those with a LOT of history and trust.

I'll say it again - don't trust ANY single individual on this site. Anyone can become a scammer at any time - it happens far more than you think.

i can confirm, i am escrow

LOL!!! Yeah, "i am escrow" too!

In french escrow (wrote escroc) means crook http://dictionary.reverso.net/french-english/escroc

What is the username of the well know escrow provide who disappeared?

John K - he was already mentioned up thread a ways.

Right John K, he seems to be unprofessional for an escrow asking for a fee of 1.5% but not a crook :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412061.0 he reappeared and gave back the 1000BTC he was holding for Bitcointalk/Theymos

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=141672.0 : his escrow service thread

A good escrow should not be unreachable for an extended period of time and let his customers wait

I agree no one should be using John K for now, well indeed you can't even contact him now lol.
He hasn't logged in his account for over 1 month, and come back on Jan 12 to release 1000btc to theymos, and is now gone again....
1643  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 2000$ to invest, right now? on: February 05, 2014, 07:37:43 AM
I have heard buying rather than mining is the way to go
But lots more knledgeable people on dis forum who can help

For sure, buy instead of mine. Even if you mine back the same USD over time, the Bitcoins themselves would likely be worth more. ie.

*You spend $2000 at $1000 per BTC, on a miner
*After it dies, you've mined back 1.2 BTC but they are now worth $10k each. You have $12k so you've earned 10k

Instead of this, though, you could have bought 2 BTC and you'd have $20k, or an increase of 18k.

Exactly.
If your mining profitability comes from the expected uprising bitcoin price, it would be better for you to just buy bitcoin directly.
Profit more, and work less. Smiley

i did some counting, seems like cloud minining is pretty expensive. I personally dont remmend cloud mining at all.

Exactly.
You can check the cex.io hashrate price vs expected mining revenue, using the built-in profit calculator on the site.

1646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best bitcoin contract right now?can you recommend a contract please? on: February 05, 2014, 07:26:50 AM
It will be very difficulty to find btc mining profitable at this stage, no matter you buy hardware now, make a pre-order on hardware or buy some cloud hashrate...

i found an hour of 180 gh/s for 8 usd.

all calcs calculate in months not hours. So I dont know if this is profitable.(How fast does difficulty change? i know its every 2016 blocks but cudnt find more info)

what is the best pool?(according to chart: paypershare is best?)

Pay per share (PPS) is indeed not a pool, but a payment scheme.

PPS is best in terms of lowest variance, but the % fee is higher.
It may be better to use PPLNS or DGM (higher expected payment due to lower % fee).

1647  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best bitcoin contract right now?can you recommend a contract please? on: February 05, 2014, 07:23:20 AM
A black averages ~10 minutes So 2016*10=20160 Minutes 3360 Hours 140 Days That doesnt Sound right but thats the math for the numbers you just gave

It should be 336 hours (14 days).
But, as the network hashrate is increasing, we don't need 10 minutes (on average) to find a block, so difficulty adjustment happens every 12-13 days instead.
1648  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Legit bitcoin faucets sites on: February 05, 2014, 07:11:46 AM
Can you please share some legit bitcoin faucet sites, or sites where I can earn bitcoins. I just want to earn some bitcoins without buying it or mining first. Thanks!

Off-topic.
It will be more efficient to earn your bitcoin by selling services instead.

Of course.
But he does want explicitly some bitcoin faucet websites only.

I agreed with you at first, but then I read the first post. He said he wants a way to get them without mining/buying; he never said without working for them. :p.

Yay, give me five!! Grin
1649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would happen if half or many many users lost their wallets? on: February 05, 2014, 07:07:46 AM
People lost their bitcoin not because of something broken lol.
They throw away / format their computer before making backups.
They forget the long password used to encrypt their wallets.
They keep their paper wallets in a "safe place", and they somehow can't find it afterwards.
... ...

Unfortunately people are not cautious enough with their BTC address

I guess you want to say private keys instead.
Anyway, you are right, people should be more careful in keeping their bitcoin safe (safe from hackers as well as safe from silly mistake lol)

get a good gpu, mine alt coins and sell them for btc.

e.g middlecoin.com ... sells all mined coins automatically, just put your wallet as worker name and they send you btc.

currently is best and legit way to earn bitcoins if some one can handle this mining
as mush as i know mining is not all that easy these days.. you need to invest a good amount of money to get hardware.

Not really.
If you are talking about scrypt mining, you can buy a few GPUs (used ones will work as well) and you don't really need a lot of money to build your first GPU rig.

Popularity

what kind of popularity are you talking about ?

Maybe the number of spammers in the forum lol.  JK Wink

do you think regular mining with regular hardware can work.. not talking only about bitcoins but if any alt coin i can mine.. with regular hardware?

It is profitable (well, at least it is the case now) to build GPU rigs and mine scrypt coins.

Hi there,
I want to say Hello to everyone and to thank you for all the information that you share every minute.
I'm in on Bitcoin from 8 months ago and I'm a supporter of Bitcoin Foundation.
Does any of you have comments or suggestions to what to do and more important, what not to do here?
Thanks again
Andres

So, the site is okay and OP made a mistake and deposited coins to an old address, right?
1656  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Non-scam Scrypt Miners on: February 05, 2014, 06:48:21 AM
I was also interested in doing scrypt mining and came across an english company called Alpha Technology (http://www.alpha-t.net) that has a Viper Scrypt Miner that is supposed to hash at 5Mh/s. They have taken preorders and have sold out. I don't know anything about the credibility of the company and missed out on the pre-orders, but it should be interesting to keep an eye out on other bitcointalk members who did participate in the pre-orders to see what their experiences are when the miners start shipping this spring.

I'd be careful going with scrypt mining companies right now; at least until some have proven their worth. We have enough problems with the BTC ones. It's safer with Scrypt to simply build your own rigs.

Very much agree.
It is just too risky for you to make pre-orders from a new unproven manufacturer....

Hello, my name's Will - I'm building a platform that provides on-demand information about Bitcoin whether it be via reports, forecasting, modeling, news, regulatory changes, etc. - but need feedback from you all on what you all would want most. What kind of reporting info would be most helpful to you all?

Welcome Will.

It would be great if you can offer a daily price forecasting + news feed.  Smiley

Just check if it is another clone of bitcoin/litecoin.

The first thing i look for is "Is it Bitcoin?"  If it's not, I ignore it.

Well said lol.  Wink
