NATO's declaration in 2008:
Quote
NATO welcomes Ukraine's and Georgia's Euro Atlantic aspirations for membership in NATO. We agreed today that these countries will become members of NATO

Putin's response:
Quote
Georgia and Ukraine becoming part of NATO is a "direct threat" to Russia

Ukraine is strategically very important for the security of Russia but the West were encouraging Ukraine to play tough against Russia. The West were encouraging the Ukrainians that they will ultimately become a part of the West because the West will ultimately defeat Putin.

Is West losing anything from this War? No! In fact, they are looking at making more money from selling weapons and since Russian will be disconnected from major part of the world, US will easily make deals with their energy resources to the EU nations. But what did Ukraine get from playing tough against a country which has huge nuclear power where they have none?

It does not matter who will win this WAR? Putin or West but one thing is very clear for sure that Ukraine is losing everything now, Ukraine is getting wrecked and will have nothing left when we will have an end of this WAR.
Ukraine more needs to be in NATO and EU than NATO and EU need to have Ukraine. Offcourse that Russia don't want that such thing would happen, but Ukraine is independent country and they have right to decide themselves where they want to go. Poland and Baltic states is NATO members for about 20 years. It supposed to be direct threat for Russia but nothing didn't happened in all these years. And look what this war just caused. Georgia and even Moldova applied to become EU members. Finland and Sweden considering to join NATO. This is what Russia wanted? Nobody don't want to have ''Russkiy mir'' in their country. Ukraine don't want it too. Maybe only Belarus want, but basically, it's province of Russia.
2622  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Events Build Scam Schemes (Russian, Ukrainian Invasion) on: March 04, 2022, 09:08:47 PM
It's nothing surprising that scammers is using war in Ukraine for their own benefits. It's easy way for them to get good money. They are using every possible opportunity to make scams - war, pandemic, disasters like earthquakes, flooding and so on.
So, if you want to donate money or help in other way, you should be very careful when you pick where to send money. Looke for reputable charity organziations. If random newbie on Bitcointalk is asking for donations, don't pay attention to him. Even if you donate to high ranked member, you should be very careful and you must check his reputation.
And yeah, new coins/tokens or NFT's may be made which would be supposed to help Ukraine, but most likely it will be just cheap scam attempts.
2623  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 04, 2022, 12:33:00 AM
Forget nukes, Putin's gonna create another Chernobyl - cheaper and easier to spin propaganda around it.

Not confirmed by a reputable source other than CCTV cameras but there's chatter on twitbook etc that Russians are attacking Zaporizhia nuclear power station and there are explosions and fires.
There is live video from it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYUT36YGOh8
Fire is visible and few minutes ago I saw shooting or bombing in background. From what I read, this power plant is most powerful in Europe. Putin has no limits, but doesn't he don't understand that nuclear disaster would hit not Ukraine only, but also big part of Russia. Especially now when wind is going towards Rostov and Krasnodar.
2624  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hello from Kyiv, Ukraine on: March 04, 2022, 12:17:52 AM
Ukraine nation is amazing and how they stand against occupant. Like people standing in front of tank without any weapons or civilians droppin Molotov cocktails to it.I don't understand how you can be so strong. I'm sitting here in Lithuania, but this war touched me very hard emotionally - I think about it all day and I feel such powerless because I can't help you. Like your President said, after Ukraine we would be next. I don't even know what to say to you guys. Just stay safe, strong and don't give up!
Слава Україні!
Русский военный корабль, иди нахуй!
2625  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A topic for everyone who still thinks that the Russians do not bomb civilians on: March 04, 2022, 12:03:27 AM
I think that mainly brainwashed Russians think that their army don't bomb civilians and targeting only military objects. I sometimes turn on their propaganda machine on TV and it's scary to see what they're showing. It's not even allowed to use word ''war'' there, they call it ''special military operation''. They have barely no victims. And they're trying to prove that people in Ukraine live their life as usual, like there is no war.
Now they're shooting at Zaporizhia Nuclear power plant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYUT36YGOh8

why do ukranians defend their genocidal nazi regime?
Do you get paid for showing your stupidity, or you're doing it for free?
2626  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long ukraine could survive? on: March 03, 2022, 11:41:21 PM
They're no longer surviving, they pose no resistance to the Russian army. Just looking at some of the aftermath from the Russian shelling tells you this is over, Ukraine does not have enough military power to fight the Russians, period. The USA hasn't provided any help, just some kind hearted tweets.

Also notice how Putin is targeting civilian areas in his assault - he didn't expect so much resistance, both in war and in the propaganda efforts, so he became desperate and began bombing civilian buildings. Safe to say Ukraine is gone.
You contradicting yourself - first you say that they pose no resistance and then that Putin didn't expected so much resistance. I don't know from where you're getting news, but telling that Ukraine army don't resist is complete nonsense.
''Safe to say that Ukraine is gone'' - you killed whole nation by making such sentence. Be careful by making such bald statements.
But I agree that USA didn't gave significant help. Even from sanctions for Russia perspective - sanctions that they imposed is such soft compared with what EU countries have done.
2627  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 03, 2022, 11:35:45 PM
@Trofo, I had recent Betis results in my mind when I made post, but still I was more or less confident about their win tonight. Well, I was wrong - they didn't won game, but they reached final. Game was nothing special ftom both sides and only very late goal saved them from extra time. So, we have Valencia - Betis in the final.
2628  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 03, 2022, 11:03:59 AM
could not wish you luck on this one, since Valencia was on other side, and reached CDR final
since Bilbao was tougher opponent than both in other semi-final pair, this is a nice chance to get the title

will be in Valencia on 23rd, when the final is, but it will be played in Sevilla Sad
nevertheless, there will probably be good atmosphere in the city
Congrats with Valencia reaching final. Well deserved. For Athletic it should be pity - they kicked out Barca and Real in the way to semifinal and now loss against Valencia isn't something that they planned.
Second semifinal between Betis and Rayo Vallecano. Betis won first game 2:1 and I'm confident about them reaching final.
2629  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long ukraine could survive? on: March 03, 2022, 10:34:53 AM
This map is total fake. As well as your claims about the occupation and fall of big cities. Ukraine will stand and fight till the end, because we are fighting for something real, not illusional. Ukraine struggles for freedom, democracy and human rights. Ukraine fights for the conviction of the whole civilized world. And we will not give up, because we are sure of our own rightness. We protect our land and our right to live on it as we wish. Ukraine will continue to combat because we don`t want to live in a world invented by a bunch of unhealthy people.
Yeah, it's completely fake. Seems it was taken from some Russian website. It shows quite many Ukraine citys under control of Russia, but in reality only Kherson was taken in last 24 hours.
They are trying to achieve so called denacification, but I still don't understand how destroying cities and killing civilians is denazification. Russia themselves is scting like fascists.
2630  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POV] War in Ukraine (I will answer your questions). on: March 03, 2022, 10:22:55 AM
As of today, 03/03/2022, about 9,000 occupants have been killed. But do you think it bothers anyone other than their mothers? This is a real war and the russians are behaving like fascists, killing children, women and the elderly.
While Russia yesterday confirmed that they have about 500 deaths. But I think that both these numbers is far from reality. But no doubts that both sides have big loses.
And you're right, in Russia it's just numbers. Now they blocked last oppositional TV and radio channels which covering war in Ukraine. They're turning in North Korea. I saw that on their propaganda channel they turned in live webcam videos from Kyiv and said that people live their life as usual there. It's disgusting.
I hope that Putin and everyone who is responsible for it will have to respond for what they have done. And I hope it will happen as soon as possible.
2631  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ukrainian Scam Donation Posts and Users on: March 01, 2022, 11:52:49 PM
I remind the community in this forum, ukraine does not need funds, they have billions of funds that have been donated by other countries.
UK provides Ukraine with $120 million in financial aid
World Bank ready to provide financial aid to Ukraine amid Russian invasion.
Council adopts €1.2 billion assistance to Ukraine

This amount of funds, if they are not corrupt, is sufficient to meet the needs of the Ukrainian people in the next 1 year.
Ok, Ukraine don't need for more money because YOSHIE decided that they got enough. But even if they survive war, do you think that money that they reiceved will be enough to rebuild country detroyed by war - infrastructure, economy and etc.

The address was originally posted by an old twitter account that claims to be the official account of the Ukrainian government, and I have no reason to suspect it isn't.  The address was posted by that account over 48 hours ago, and the fact that it's still up also makes me think it's legit.
And this address was reposted by some high rank Ukrainian officials, so, for me there isn't many resons to believe that it may be not legit.

Quote
Honestly, I'm still skeptical about making bitcoin donations.  I am also not in any hurry to donate to the Ukrainian government for a variety of reasons.  I am inclined to donate to humanitarian efforts, but I don't want my donations used for any military purposes.
That's understandable. If you don't want to donate for military purposes, you can donate to provide help to war refugees for example.
2632  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 01, 2022, 11:36:32 PM
In last day Russian attacks end with much more deaths of civilians. They shooting at houses and apartments of people, hospitals, kindergartens, Kharkiv city municipality and Kyiv TV tower. They are still say that Russia attack only military objects, but it's rude lie. If they're doing such things, seems that they have no limits...
It's very likely that Belarus army is going to join Russian forces in attacks. And from what I read, Ukraine would respon with rockets attack towards Belarus.
Not sure how much clearer i can be. US will never allow Cuba to enter into any defensive pacts (regardless of how lawful/democratic/liberating/profitable... it will be for Cuba) that would allow other countries to bring nukes into Cuba. China will never allow Taiwan to enter into any pact (regardless of how lawful/democratic/liberating/profitable... it will be for Taiwan) that will allow 3rd country to bring nukes into Taiwan. Now you can argue whether it is right/ethical/lawful etc... but it'd be silly to argue the fact itself.
I'm not sure why you're talking about brinngin nukes. Poland and Baltic states is NATO members and there is no nukes there. How Ukraine would be different? What if Finland will decide to join NATO? Russia will start war against them too?
2633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: March 01, 2022, 11:15:56 PM
Is it the owner or "just" the main sponsor?
BTW, in the F1 world where everybody wants to become a driver, I don't know what's going to happen with Nikita Mazepin.
I've read "rumors" that he may get banned from F1, and obviously there's no shortage of possible replacements.
Mazepin's father is just sponsor, he is owner of Uralkali company. With all sanctions and Russian economy falling down probably they won't be able to spnsor Haas soon. Without SWIFT they won't be able to send money them. If Haas won't receive money from Uralkali, I'm sure that Mazepin will lose his seat.

Disgusting.
2634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 01, 2022, 10:22:48 AM
Look, I confess this is an extremely interesting topic and that it could even become another topic for us to discuss.

We have no doubt that this is an extremely delicate subject, because the players are not to blame for Putin's attitudes, but unfortunately professional athletes (soccer and Olympic athletes) will suffer this consequence.

This is extremely painful for a player who has been preparing for 4 years to be able to participate in the Olympics or a World Cup, and that in the end, their efforts were in vain as they will not participate in these major sporting events.

ps: please don't get me wrong or criticize me, I just shared my point of view regarding this, but yes, I don't see any other way to create sanctions against Russia with the atrocities that Putin is doing!

This is another form of punishment, the "target" is Putin, but unfortunately the players will also have to suffer these consequences.

Unfortunately this is an evil that had to be done

Yeah, I understand that football players and all other athletes who were banned from international competition will suffer and it's not their fault. But I think it would be wrong to let them play like nothing didn't happened.
It's same like not casual Russian people started war, but they will suffer most from all sanctions and falling ruble. But that's consequences of their elected president actions.
2635  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Primeira Liga (Portuguese League) 2021/22 Season on: March 01, 2022, 12:17:30 AM
Hey, folks, time to summarize what happened in last round. There was some interesting things.
First of all, Sporting failed to beat Maritimo and game ended 1:1, despite that Sporting completely dominated game. Great chance for Porto increase gap from Sporting. Yeah, but no. They weren't able to beat Gil Vicente, despite that Gilv Vicente player got red card on 3rd minute. Actually, Gil Vicente were leading at one moment, but Porto managed to make score 1:1.
Winners of this round is Benfica after beating Guimaraes 3:0. Still, it's early to talk about Benfica returning to title race, they're still 10 points behind Porto.

I send small Bitcoin donation to Ukraine:

2637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: February 28, 2022, 11:40:35 PM
If that happens then I think Spartak Moscow will be at a huge disadvantage, but that's a possible consequence they can accept due to inadequate security. Matches may be played in other countries or UEFA may arrange for them to be played at the same stadium for two legs as only in Leipzig or another safe place. Honestly I'm curious about this matter, but anything is possible if UEFA decides it's like this season's Champions League final.
There was no talks about playing in Moscow, it was already confirmed few days ago that games would be played in neutral locations. But it become hardly possible when whole EU air space were closed for flights from Russia.
Any way, UEFA and FIFA banned Russian national teams and clubs from all competition:
https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/news/0272-148df1faf082-6e50b5ea1f84-1000--fifa-uefa-suspend-russian-clubs-and-national-teams-from-all-com/
Also, they ended their partnership with Gazprom:
https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/mediaservices/mediareleases/news/0272-148df50f5c71-e40e92534a4b-1000--uefa-ends-partnership-with-gazprom/
It's only right decision in this situation.
2638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: February 28, 2022, 11:33:41 PM
And will Russia actually be expelled to participate in the World Cup? is this real or just rumours?

Do you believe that in the future other sports and players will be banned from world competitions!!? It is possible?
Yes, it's already confirmed offcially. And I think it's only right decion in this situation. Russia should be isolated from all international sports. You simply can't act like nothing didn't happened. Some will say - don't mix sports and politics. Sorry, but it's not politics. It's war.
2639  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 28, 2022, 11:29:03 PM
Maybe the ideal scenario is that the sanctions hurt the Russian elite enough that they oust Putin (which would mean assassinate Putin). Probably the only (or at least safest) way to bring him down is from the inside. Whether that's oligarchs or top military officials, or some combination of the two, who knows, and who knows if it's even remotely likely.
Maybe when Russian oligarchs will realize that economics and whole country is in such deep shit like never before, they will start pushing Putin to end war. I think it's not bad sign that Roman Abramovich was involved in negotiation today.
But at the same time I'm afraid that Putin can feel pushed into corner without any way back. His recent decisions isn't rational and he can drop nuclear weapon. It would be end for him, but at the same time it would be end for half of world.

Seriously, where do they come up with this stuff? And they expect people to buy it?
Well, such statements from Russian foreign ministry is usual stuff. Seems that cock supply to it from Argentina never stoped (explanation for people not familiar with this stuff is below:

2640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 28, 2022, 10:40:16 AM
It was so much joy watching Barca yesterday. Wins against Athletic is rarely so easy. I don't even know what to say about Dembele. Month ago he was written-off without future in Barcelona. Now he enter from bench with a goal and 2 assists. And Luuk de Jong - believe it or no, but after Depay he is 2nd on team top scorers list.
Sevilla won over Betis, but did not hold to usual 2:0 score, so they can done it with any team? Betis was much better in second half, but far from that they earned more than a decent lose, could have done it without scoring as well
In 1st half it looked that Sevilla will completely destroy Betis. In 2nd half they were a bit better, but that late goal didn't changed anything.
And Villarreal, I think nobody didn't saw this coming - 5 goals against Espanyol is solid stuff.
