2621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What is your opinion on the method of payment for bounty rewards? on: February 18, 2022, 06:02:13 AM
Scamming projects will always offer lucrative bounty hunters and invite them to participate in their projects. They also promise their investors that they will make a big profit.

They will not feel sorry for the people who are deceived and they will look for other new targets to be able to get their money by deceiving them. So, in this case, all investors, bounty hunters or traders need to do some research before getting into the project.
Asking to invest in the project is a choice not an obligation. The team may ask for that but whether to choose to do that is your own decision. Should not be the reason of raising a flag.

But considering the fact that there are scam projects in very large number than number of legit ones this above line may just be true.

I know one such campaign manager who is no longer active now, had been offered a large volume of tokens for the cost of 4eth. He took it and then the project turned scam. Therefore they lost the 4eth which could have been a better investment.
2622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: meta is the future ???? on: February 17, 2022, 07:58:54 AM
Looking at what the project are working on, there is no much ongoing. Everyone just copying each other without any uniqueness.
Which is what intrigues me about the real development behind this buzzword.

Remember that a few years back deeplearning and AI became buzzwords, before that cloud computing became buzzwords. These technologies are used today for different purposes but the main point is that the tech giants need to create this buzz in order to sell a new product.

Each year a new buzzword takes over the last one and this has been going on for a long time. Just the problem that Meta being released by FB became a common term with crypto which boosted its social media exposure.

I am still very skeptical about its future.
2623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risk in Crypto Assets Portfolio on: February 17, 2022, 07:53:30 AM
those who want big profits in a short time will certainly continue to be greedy and will not be satisfied. when their portfolio already has a lot of profit they don't sell some of it, they continue to hold it until the price crashes and suffers a loss.
The loss is suffered only when the coins are sold and not when they are being held. With bitcoin this chance of suffering a lose is less too. Again this will depend on the trader's mindset being made of nerves of steel, in which case they will accept movements as opportunities and not gains/losses.

Quote
Psychology must be controlled so as not to harm the investment made, so that the initial strategy continues to work properly. If the target has been achieved, sell and enjoy the profits. enter and exit the market at the right time and use the money that will not be used in the future for any needs.
Truely, selling and buying back must be done. But most traders fail to do at the proper time, in which case just hold, it will end up being the same.

Again this is the way the market weeds out the weak hands and only the composed diligent traders remains. Patience is important here, but being able to hold till the price reaches and then taking the chance to sell is equally important.
2624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the secret sauce for a good memecoin? on: February 17, 2022, 07:49:15 AM
I'm interested in getting tips and advice on what worked best for some of the more experienced members here.  We have thought about Giveaways, Youtube videos, reddit crypto moonshots posts etc..but not sure which to focus on. Any advice appreciated!
Fake hype and influencers promotion works.

This needs to be added with a lot of fake buying from markets to raise the price and create a bubble that the coin in legit while it is actually not. That way idiot newbies will put in their money while you can run away when you wish to giving the spoils among your team only to never be caught by any law enforcement.

Sorry if that hurt, but that I how I perceive things. Have been in the crypto ecosystem for long being a bitcoin maximalist and I hope you guys dont sleep soundly at night after all the money you stole from innocent users while running this shitcoin.
2625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When to know Bitcoin has reset? on: February 16, 2022, 05:53:30 AM
I'm learning how to trade crypto and I hear a lot say that it's best to invest in Coins when Bitcoin resets. So what are the signs that Bitcoin is resetting? Not asking when it resets only God knows but when a reset has happened?
First time I heard the term "reset" when refferring to crypto, I was more aware of the term in computers. Cheesy But anyway I understood the gist of it.

What you are referring to is drop in price of bitcoin. This is specific to bitcoin trading and it cannot be predicted from beforehand, just like any speculative market. You can place orders and leave it there, it it execute when the price gets reached. But searching for specific signs for the price to fall is a wrong way to approach it. Someone might say that using technical analysis and checking volume changes they can predict this, but I highly doubt that. Being an overbought market usually gives a sign that the market might drop, but it is not 100% and it cannot say the specific time when it will happen.

If you see the current trend, market is trading sideways/in stagnancy for a few days after the rise to 44-45k USD. From here, both up and down is possible. So I place orders on both sides and see how it unfolds.

I hope this was what you were asking about. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. Smiley
2626  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin failed to fulfill the purpose it was created for ? on: February 16, 2022, 05:44:34 AM
2. Stay free from govt control.
Bitcoin is not supposed to be a magic pill to that. You are getting this wrong. You are always under the government's control however you might put it. You are a human and you need to survive, therefore you will need a place to live, food to eat. Bitcoin was created with the idea of being an alternative to fiat due to problems that fiat had, nothing more.

People who have a red-pilled concept of government control being pressurized on them have this mentality and frankly, this is a wrong concept.

Quote
At present some big online marketplaces accept bitcoin
The ones who do are in no comparison called "big". They are niche and niche markets are always "small".

Quote
but from being an alternative payment to fiat currency I think we are still behind.
If your metric about being "ahead" of fiat, which is absurd in the first place, is being accepted in big marketplaces, then you will remain disappointed for a long time. For that to happen you need the support of the government, refer to what I said in the first few lines about fanatic bitcoiners being wrong about government pressure.

Again your metric should be the pros and cons that bitcoin offers and those are working as intended.

Quote
We also saw many countries are hostile towards bitcoin and china baned everything related to bitcoin. So china's ban on bitcoin shows that it's free from govt control or its the opposite? Bitcoin can really be the alternative to fiat in spite of this extreme volatility?
A country banning bitcoin mining does not mean all countries would do the same so dont cherry pick on this. It will take them time to accept this and it will happen eventually as more countries become lenient towards it. At the same time we bitcoiners also have a job of spreading awareness and the pros and cons of bitcoin to our close relatives.
2627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I am searching for new projects which can give legit free cloud mining on: February 16, 2022, 05:36:24 AM
You can find all projects on Bitcoin forum. But the saddest thing is that most of the mining projects are scammed. It is more likely that your money will be stolen, So I think before you invest in mining projects, you must take a good look at the projects.
Taking a good look, means what? Going to the mining farm? You may or may not be able to confirm the existence of such mining farms and datacenters. That does not mean that the mining operation is legit. The only legit form of mining is mining on your own. There have been projects that has raised money through ICOs in order to include token holders in the investment scheme like Ice Rock Mining, Ambit Mining, Envion and many more. Each one of them has ended up as a failure. Ambit disappeared without a trace, IRM team has gone AWOL without dividends, Envion founders are fighting a court case for 2+ years against a hostile takeover.

Quote
How long has the project been on the market?
Genesis mining was there was years. The evidence for it being an MLM is much more now.

Quote
How many people are working on the project?
You will never get an answer to this question as an investor.

Quote
How much mining dividend has the project paid so far?
When a ponzi runs, they spend the new investors money to pay the old investors, so for the investors coming in they are getting dividends, did that mean that the project is legitimate? No. Therefore giving dividends is not equal to legitimacy.
2628  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics on: February 15, 2022, 04:53:13 AM
A lot of countries are releasing/ contemplating to release their own digital currencies. EU is contemplating digital euro, Jamaica is thinking of digital Jamaican dollar..
The key word is "contemplating". Nothing has really happened yet and crypto users are in a panic state about this because of unknown outcomes.

Quote
India has already launched digital rupee..
Please correct this. No such thing has been launched yet. It is also being "contemplated".

Quote
How these currencies will affect the bitcoin/crypto ecosystem?
They will not. The use of these currencies is a government affair. In order to sell/buy cryptocurrencies from local exchanges in your country you might need to get through them. Because of lack of information and the normal persecutory nature of human mind, people are over-thinking this and making up things that they dont understand. While things that happen are mostly for the better outlook, if people dont accept this mode, there will develop a counter-approach too. So I dont think there is anything to panic about but watch how governments make their move.
2629  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You don't need to hodl a particular coin all your life on: February 15, 2022, 04:43:38 AM
No one will hold crypto coins forever, I doubt if there is someone to have that idea.
It is a temporary idea. Everyone has needs and everyone is human, so they will have to spend those coins at some point when they run out of fiat cash at hand. But I hope that does not happen to anyone in real.

Quote
So, everyone who knows the bullish will end, must sell their coins as soon as possible. Then, probably buy again in the dip, when the bearish season comes.
Cycling the coins is important but some traders are stubborn and they dont realize that there are actually two narratives in play here. One is the long term hodlers who are not selling anything for a long time and another is the hodler who has kept a fraction of their holding for trading and the rest for long term holding. When traders confuse these two they end up holding when they could have sold and made a profit and using the profit they could buy-back.

Now it is the trader's decision to sell or not and there are ample opportunities when the swings happen.
2630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I am searching for new projects which can give legit free cloud mining on: February 15, 2022, 04:32:14 AM
I am searching for new projects which can give legit free cloud mining .
The terms "legit" "free" and "cloud mining" do not work together. When it is cloud mining, it is going to be paid and it is going to be a scam. All cloud mining sites run a MLM scheme where the new investors money is used to pay the old investors. You can invest in them and you are early in the rat-race you may be able to make some money off someone else's earned money while they suffer, but know this that in any MLM the real winner is the owner who is running the scam and the affiliate marketers.

Quote
i am not looking for any btc or eth mining looking for new projects
You may be looking for staking which is also another worthless topic to discuss because it gives no real gain in value.

If you want to mine, buy yourself the devices and start mining. It is not worth today to mine if you mining with a small number of rigs for bitcoin, but you might get an edge with other altcoins. Again that becomes another rat race to change the type of coin being mined based on the market.
2631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ADA basically useless on this forum for payments? on: February 14, 2022, 07:12:20 AM
But I just recently set up a coinbase acct & funded it with majority ADA as I was told it has low gas fees for payments.
Low gas fees should not be the determinant of your choice of cryptocurrency. Sure you can trade it easily and quickly with low fees but does it help in decentralization or cesnsorship-resistance like bitcoin does? You are free in this aspect and nobody is forcing you to use one currency. But if you are going to do business with others, you have to accept the one that is most popular to cater to the needs of majority.

Quote
It seems most folks only accept bitcoin on these forums.
There is an Marketplace (Altcoins) section. However it gets very little attention compared to the global Marketplace section where bitcoin is only mode of transaction.

Quote
How many of you accept ADA or other altcoins for payment?
I dont.
2632  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a way to actually get to know the real price of Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2022, 07:08:19 AM
sinp-
It is a speculative asset and like any other speculative asset, it is bound to go up and down. Bitcoin was created with the idea of an alternative to fiat but it gained its own uses with time. How you are going to use it, is your choice though.

Quote
Aside from this many exchanges also manipulate the price of Bitcoin by creating fake Buy/Sell orders.
That is a big assumption to make. Do you have proof of the same? If not, then dont mention such things but keep your ramblings to yourself.

Quote
Is there a way to actually predict the price of Bitcoin?
The price of 1BTC is always 1BTC. But that would be the prevalent statement if there was no fiat in this world. The only way to buy/sell bitcoin is using fiat and hence the price of bitcoin comes in USD or others. It is therefore not possible to predict the price, just like you cannot predict when the jackpot of a casino would be fulfilled.

Quote
consider using Data from the Blockchain itself, for eg. the Timestamp of the block, mining revenue, cost of the electricity consumed to mine the blocks, Difficulty in the hash rate, etc.
Price depends on supply and demand, but you have something in mind, please do come up with it, I would be happy to see how it works.
2633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: we can still rely on the bounty.. on: February 14, 2022, 07:00:23 AM
Well if you can't take a risk to do something extra things that's not worth on your time maybe bounty campaign will not be a good option to you since chances is huge for not getting paid but if you can handle anything and want to get hit those 5% chance since you have time to spend on any of those then give a shot on bounty campaign since there are few of them pays to their participants. Also in crypto nothing is stable so its good to join every opportunity and see which of them pays your effort do.
One could say the same about buying lottery tickets too. Spending time even if a short amount on something that may be a needle in a haystack would mean spending a lot when doing this for years. Why would you spend your electricity bill and your devices lifespan on something that is worthless? Rather use that time and effort in doing something fruitful and you can actually learn something new.

Point is that some users cannot see beyond the veil of bounties. There are signature campaigns opening up every few weeks here. A little bit of patience and you get get into one easily.

Dont rely on bounties because of the hope, you are putting it in the wrong place. It only leads to an endless cycle of non-payment and frustration to joining a new one.
2634  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Apple's fake metaverse ico website. on: February 14, 2022, 06:52:29 AM
Apple is a huge company to launch its ICO in a subdomain if Apple is going to launch its own project it will not go through ICO because Apple is regulated and they are already a huge company that they can launch the project with its own money, they just going to list their project in the market, obviously, this is a fake project a good investor will not fall to this.
Just add in the current buzzwords for example in this case it is Meta and web3.0 with some psychedelic themes and you can get yourself a website like the one above pretty quickly. That should be kept in mind when coming across sites like this. While it is rare to find legit projects, obviously a tech giant would not announce a ICO without a lot of prior media coverage, which should tingle your common sense and give you the red flag.

Either way it is not experience users like us who are the main targets of these scams but over-enthusiatic newbies and less tech savvy older users who dont know how to verify facts. Hence reporting them here and reporting to the registrar are our only ways to deal with it. In this case

2635  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SHOULDN'T THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOKENS BE MORE SUPERVISED ? on: February 13, 2022, 05:46:33 AM
Crypto needs to be regulated, lack of regulation is why many scammers are successful with their scam projects, every investors will only have to invest in projects that are regulated which will kill scam projects in time.
As for an investor, buying bitcoin is a safe and secure bet, this comes from experience and watching markets rise and fall over time. As soon as you delve into altcoins, you bring in risks that are beyond your control. Altcoins have no use case in most scenarios and they cannot compete with what bitcoin has become today, the recognition and infamy that bitcoin has gained over the years, whatever some developer might say.

In the meantime before the regulation can happen, we can keep our vision narrowed down to bitcoin only and then trade. If most users start doing this and forget about their altcoins for now, it can have a positive impact on the market price and eventually they will realize their folly. The problem is that some investors feel the pain of having to hold shitcoin, but it was their mistake getting in. Regulation cannot stop this from happening. This can come only from patience and education about crypto.
2636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where are you guys exploring for new coins, and monitoring the exicted? on: February 13, 2022, 05:40:12 AM
This forum can be a recommendation for you to find new tokens, namely in the bounties (altcoin) section. You can search for new tokens there and you can do your own assessment of a token.
You cant find anything analytical on this forum. It will be a few links to the site and whitepaper, social media links and a thread that will get shitposted in. Beyond that the analysis is completely on you. You have to face the reality that getting guidance from this forum about altcoin projects is equal to zero. Apart from the projects that get reported as scam in the "Scam Accusations" section, I dont see any value in this. Inorganic marketing is very common through forums as well, you may get misguided by fake accounts.

Quote
CoinmarketCap is also a good place to find new tokens,
CMC is an aggregator, not an analytics site.

Quote
but I don't trust YouTube, because they may deliberately promote the token and get rewarded.
Finally you said a correct statement.

Quote
The technique you have to do before buying a token is to approach it from all aspects, be it how active their social media is to how big the community is, the market approach is a mandatory thing that you shouldn't miss.
Even more important to check the working product, if they have any and if the team has been involved into any previous projects and how they turned out. Still, in terms of legal outlook and of these projects can fail with the investors losing their money and having no legal approach it recovering their money.
2637  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where comes and how exchanges gets the bitcoins that I buy? on: February 12, 2022, 05:53:15 AM
Hello! I am so sorry if this is in the wrong topic, or if this question is so dumb, but, this caught me:

when I buy some Bitcoin/cripto from one exchange (like Binance, CoinBase...), how does they use my fiat money to get my BTC's? From where they get it?
Exchanges are not only for buying, but both buying and selling. When you are placing an order to buy/sell your order gets matched with some other user(s) order(s) to add up to the amount that you have posted and the exchange occurs like that once the match is complete. It is a layman method to explaining but it sums up the complexities of how orderbooks operate.

If you are thinking how the coins come in, then I would say that miners getting subsidy is where the major selling occurs from. So that is a large part but then there are companies that run bitcoin based services, like casinos which is the biggest market for bitcoin and they do have to pay their employees and therefore they will sell bitcoin to get fiat.

Just assume that the coin is like a stone being exchanged and carries a value that you bought it with. This coin goes in circulation and money gets exchanged for that.
2638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Buy/Sell Startups on: February 12, 2022, 05:47:24 AM
Hello, everyone. I have been in the field for some time, but without progress, and I think it is high time I started researching the market. I am interested in materials,
You mean commodities? You will not find that here.

Quote
as well as mostly in investing in the project that are not yet on the market (binance, coingeco).
I see from your comments that you are looking for ICOs. Let me tell as you as someone who has seen the market since the days of ICOs and it successors of ITO/STO/IDO/IEO and then DeFi, NFT, Meta < in order of being the most recent, that all of these are hyped schemes that are not worth putting in money for the long term. If you are in for a quick flip, I suggest you look into trading. ICO are mostly in the form of IEOs today but even then there is no guarantee that the project is legit and will not undergo some hostile takeover or simply vanish.

Do not compare the ICOs with IPOs from stock market, they have some legal regulation to track down scam IPOs there but no such thing exists in cryptocurrency.

If you are looking for startups to invest in, look in your country's stock market and see what are companies listing there. Do not look into crypto for that, you will get washed away.
2639  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion on side jobs on: February 12, 2022, 05:18:47 AM
General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?
It is just a name, nothing more.

The real point of difference is which one is more stable and long term in the broader view of life. If you have a day job, you may be earning less than from some side hustle, but it is not going to disappear all of a sudden or stop paying.

In most of the third world, people are unable to follow their passion and this leads to this problem. Always make sure you support your family members so they can pursue their dreams, only then they will live happily and such thoughts will not cross their mind.

Coming to bitcoin's perspective, trading is something most of the users do beside their job and probably some are stock market veterans too. This aspect of managing money is a good thing and should be encouraged.
2640  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A few key points distinguishing traders from gamblers on: February 11, 2022, 08:47:54 AM
The OP clearly shows what type of trader should not become a trader, that is the gambler mindset, because majority of gamblers take impulse decisions and do not think about risks which is a complete no-no for professional traders.

However a large portion of traders who get washed away in short periods of time are the gamblers who attempt their hand in trading. They will enter at the wrong point usually the bull tip and then they would be in a loss as the price drops. They will not be able to receive the quick satisfaction and sell off at a loss. This leads to a lot of unusual selling pressure but it happens.

These people are also the ones who enter into leverage trading and to be honest I fell leverage and futures have been created only to cater to this mindset. They end up losing a lot of money and this gives the wrong impression to general public that trading is a risky thing to do.
