To be fair, 99% of folks are on dynamic IPs, so really all you'd get is what ISP he was on.  If even that.

vdragon could have just had real life issues - sickness or death in the family.  Or he did just lose a Bridgestone at 180kph and is in a ditch somewhere...who knows.  Fingers crossed.

Back to waiting for my Jalapeno to be sent.  Only 3 more months....may be...
2642  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [UK GROUP BUY] ASICMiner USB Block Erupters #2 on: July 25, 2013, 02:54:37 PM
Seeing the "vdragon" EU group buy seems to have been a scam  Roll Eyes , any idea if there's going to be another UK group buy?    Thankfully I may have only lost 1.78BTC which won't take too long to replace.
2643  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group buy - please read] 1000 pcs USB Erupters - EU/Int - price 0.89BTC - on: July 25, 2013, 02:47:43 PM
Arse biscuits.  Angry  Wow, this sucks.  Glad I only "bought" two.  Roll Eyes

Guess the price really was "too good to be true".

Yeah, I think I might use a different SSD, something a little bigger.   The little Celeron 847 is pretty quick for what it is.  Smiley
2645  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1400GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 24, 2013, 09:42:41 AM
What spec of machines are folks using for p2pool?  I'm thinking of setting it up myself, but not sure what machine to use.

I've got a Celeron 847 (dual core 1.1GHz) with 8GB RAM and a 64GB SDD.  Is that likely to be enough?  Probably running Windows Server 2008R2, so very little OS overhead.
2646  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A case study in entry-level mining on: July 23, 2013, 02:35:11 PM
Have you considered using bgminer?  I'm running it with my Block Erupters, and it seems a lot more stable.  I'm running Windows 7 off a 40W MiniITX machine that's also my workstation.
2647  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How long has your GPU lasted mining 24/7? on: July 23, 2013, 02:02:16 PM
Only card I've had die was an old 5870 - got it used, mined the hell out of it for 6 months until the screen started artifacting.  Sold it on eBay as spares/repairs for the same price I paid for it.

The 6970's fan is a bit wobbly after a year, and so far so good on the 2x 7950, 7850 and 7770. All are 6 months+.
2648  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASIC BLOCK ERUPTER: STARTING GROUP BUY #1 on: July 23, 2013, 01:56:20 PM
Well, people are buying these things at £225 on eBay UK, so I guess anythings possible...
2649  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining bitcoin with 1st gen hw doesnt seem to make sense at all by next year on: July 23, 2013, 01:54:04 PM
So how is this thread different from all the other "BTC mining is dead" threads?  Huh

Oh, that's right, it isn't.   Roll Eyes

Grin Good old Bitcoin.  Super-fast when you're in no hurry, infinitely slow when you are...
2651  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: So i got my BFL 50GH+ but the fans noise ... on: July 23, 2013, 08:57:32 AM
Put it in a fridge - keeps it cold, and it's sound proof.
2652  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon cashing in. Just a bit. on: July 23, 2013, 08:42:00 AM
Or just buy this at half the price - exact same guts, just it's a plastic case.  Works perfectly for me.  Came with a 5A PSU, not 4A as described.

Try 1 BTC and you might get some orders.  Shocked  Also stop smoking the funny stuff.   Wink

The UK/EU group buy was 0.89BTC per 1, getting cheaper the more you buy.  With postage it should be around 1BTC all in for a single device, cheaper for more obviously.
2654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MultiMiner 1.0.10 - Your Coins. Your Pools. Your way. - Includes .NET API's on: July 22, 2013, 02:43:32 PM
Is there a column to show which pool it's mining on at any given time, assuming you've set up failover?

Not currently but I'll look at adding it in the future. I'd like to get some concept of "details" for a device, but without making the main screen too messy.

I was thinking like different columns that can be selected.  For example, Icarus devices have no intensity, so being able to remove that column and use the screen estate for whatever pool you're using, etc.

Is there a column to show which pool it's mining on at any given time, assuming you've set up failover?  Also, I don't see if I can set up failover/load balanced pool strategy?

Bug report: In SHA256 it's reporting mh/s instead of Mh/s - m=milli, M=mega.  There's a difference. Smiley
2656  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer crashes on start on: July 22, 2013, 01:06:06 PM
Check cgminer READMEs. Driver problem...

This.

You have to start the driver dance.  I've three machines, and each one has a different set of drivers to make it work.  One's running 12.8, another 12.11, and the other 13.6beta.  It's a pain, but once it's working it's usually reliable.

Is there a limit to the Load Balancing between pools?  My two main pools are either under DDoS or are a bit glitchy.  I added a third pool, and I seem to end up with my miners getting stuck on WAIT for quite a while, before doing a little work, then stopping again.

Two main pools are Slush's and BTCGuild, third pool I added was Eligius.

Define "long term users".

Glad you're working on it anyway. Smiley  I'm running load balanced, hadn't noticed things going wrong with the pool, still seems to be accepting shares.

2660  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Gigabyte GPU on: July 22, 2013, 10:11:10 AM
But you are right, from a design stand point, they are very flawed.

To be fair, miners are running the cards way above what they were ever designed for.  99% of people buying those cards maybe play a game an few hours a day, which isn't as hard on the VRMs as mining LTC.

Mining LTC on a GPU is like driving your car up a very steep hill at maximum revs constantly for 24 hours.  It'll do it for a certain amount of time, then the engine will pop.
