So I asked them.  I emailed them some questions and this is the response. I received the response from Keith Gurnett

Now before anyone goes off on one, I know some of the answers seem vague, so I have asked for clarity specifically on the 3rd question.

Hope this helps.

Quote
Q1. Do you still feel confident to launch Neptune on time?
A1. At the moment things are going ahead as planned, we will provide more information as work progresses.

Q2. If so do you think it will be closer to the end of Q1, Q2 or later?
A2. Similar to above, we are currently on target and will provide more details as soon as we can.

Q3. Have you been manufacturing 28nm Miners all the time since you stopped the last batch of November Jupiters?
A3. No, we are creating the data center now for "Plan B" as a back up to be used if there are any delays with the Neptune production.

Q4. If so, have you been mining with the 28nm miners manufactured since November?
A4. We are mining, but we have not exceeded the 5% of the hash rate which has been released.

Q5. Do you plan on manufacturing any upgrade boards for the Mercury and Saturn customers?
A5.  We are looking at the possibility of releasing upgrade modules, however our management team have not yet decided on the final details. We will provide further information as soon as possible.

Q6. What date will you start offering compensatory hosted hash-rate, and how much will be given?
A6. Plan B will only come in to action if there are any delays with the Neptune production, as stated previously we will provide further updates as soon as we can.

Q7. What date will you start offering to convert non-delivered Neptunes into hosted 28nm, and how much will be exchanged?
A7. Like above, if there are any delays customers will be provided with the hosted hash rate.

Interestingly... in all other competitor threads "KnC Plan B" is considered as a step towards customer appreciation... in the KnC thread itself people tear it apart... how I love this ambiguity  Grin

Its really only being torn apart by the people that have been trying to tear the thread apart for months now. We should really just thank them, tell them they were right and we were all wrong, pay them a BTC tip for their troubles and maybe they'll go play somewhere else for a while Smiley

Grin Fair enough! It's much more fun than betting.

More fun, yes.  But more profitable, probably not anymore.  My pile of gear is going to have to amuse me without growing larger now.  It was fun while it lasted.   Cry

Just increase your farm by 20% every two weeks Smiley

It makes more sense that the collapse of mining will be the beginning of Bitcoin. Once people can no longer print their own money it starts to become legit.
2665  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 4 Antminer S1's on 1 PSU ? on: February 04, 2014, 12:02:46 PM
I have 3 overclocked running on a 1500W Silverstone using 4 PCIE power cables and 2 x dual molex to PCIE adapters (the ones you get with graphics cards). All cables are cool to touch.

Ye that psu is bad boy quality.

why only 4 pcie cables it offers upto 8, Is it to offload from the 12v rail?

Because to give you eight the cables have two connectors each and I only want to use one per blade

Hi guys,

I have ordered 3 S1. Is it better to have 3 single psu for all S1 or 1 psu for each S1 ?

Could you tell me good and not expansive psu ?

Thanks

To run 3 S1 from one PSU you are going to need a 1300-1500W PSU. None of which are cheap, especially because three antminers really will use that wattage, so if you buy a cheap PSU that isn't really rated at the correct wattage you are going to get a very expensive lesson.

But the cheapest, best, PSU you can get at 1300W range is the EVGA G2 1300W

Probably cheaper to get 3 decent 600W PSU's

Just quick one. Coupons- they works per order or i can use 2,3 coupons on one order?

You can use more than one per order i believe.

To clarify, just one per item in the order. So to use more than one coupon you have to buy more than one item.

No you can use 2 or 3 on one item - there is a drop down that lets you choose.

And when you do so it tells you you can't use more than one coupon per item ordered.

Say you have one Antminer in your cart, you go to checkout and you add your coupon for 0.02BTC, then you change the dropown to change it to 2 coupons. It then says in red at the top of the page:

You can use one coupon per product

Those yellow walls sure are popular, either that or dprophet has painted his house to match the cointerra offices.

What is the most plausible theory for more than two months of silence re Neptune despite apparent discontent of customers?
Here is my speculation on possibilities (from the most probable #1 to almost impossible #5):
1. They are experiencing significant difficulties with Neptune design and want to overcome those problems before updating.
2. They are positioning to change their business model from selling individual units to the "fair shake" cloudhashing model, where customers will be buying slots in the icelandic super-mine managed by KnC. Everyone who ordered Neptune would be offered a slot with a modest increase in hashing power (to 3.5-4TH), but will have to pay extra for "hosting".
3. They were bought by someone or majority bought by a third party (perhaps even by a government-controlled entity).
4. They were bought/invested into by 21e6 (or merged with 21e6). Alternatively, they were supplying Jupiters to a single unknown party (cloudhashing?).
5. They are resting on their prior success and "taking it easy".

Or...

6. They are proceeding as planned and according to their internal schedule.

We don't know, and perhaps until they have something meaningful to share such as a tapeout then there really isn't any news yet.

Best thing for frank to do is buy one from A8IM and once he has one report back on his experience.
2675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 30, 2014, 01:32:13 AM
Thing is they might just not be willing to step into the arena with the prices as they are now. Unless they can offer something off the shelf, immediately available then they are going to have to compete with the competition on price/GH

So how does best value competition look now?

antminer (180GH): $1200 - $6/GH
A 650GH Jupiter at antminer prices would be around $4000
2676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 29, 2014, 08:00:35 PM
so Cointerra made it:
http://cointerra.com/pr-cointerra-begins-shipment-terraminer-iv-worlds-fastest-bitcoin-miner/

2 TH for 5.999,--
=> 2999,5 per TH, shipping in January.

KNC's 3 TH for 9.999,--
=> 3.333,33 per TH, shipping in Q1/Q2.

looks like this time KNC was the wrong horse to bet on.

I believe they are 1.7TH and the people who are receiving them now paid a lot more than $5999 for the honour of being in batch 1, it was $14,000

But yes if you order one now it will be $6K and your calculations comparing them to KNC may be correct, it just depends whether KNC do their customary overdelivery of performance and which one you can get first now. Cointerra is in May.. and KnC, well we don't know yet.

KNC just got Crockered

In the "a fat lazy male figure that sits on his computor all day with no breaks -that crocker is way to lazy" type crocker? Or some other colloquialism?
2678  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 29, 2014, 08:45:18 AM
Like some other buyers, I was so nervious. I decided to drive to AMT to check if it is real ( I drove 800 miles round trip). I visited AMT company January 20-21. To be honest, it is really hard to find AMT office. I got confused even I stepped in the office building. AMT need a big name tag on its office door:)
I talked with Josh about 2 hours. He is very professional. He was preparing to send out some 80G and 128G AMT miners when I met him. I was told AMT will receive the chips(for 1.2T miners) by last weekend. Hopefully, I can receive my 1.2 T miner asap.

I took a couple pictures. But I don't know how to post pictures here. I also have a picture with Josh but he don't like posting picture online. So, I just keep it for myself.
Hopefully, this post can give AMT buyers some confidence.

I doubt it, as AMT don't produce their own boards, they just slot boards produced by other companies into off the shelf PC cases. I think they will be waiting for bitmine.ch or a third party to produce boards with their bitmine chips. Or wait till bitmine start shipping their rigs.
2679  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: January 29, 2014, 04:31:38 AM
should I have both antminers (which are mining at eligius) be paying to my same bitcoin address or different addresses?  is putting both under my same bitcoin address combing their effectiveness at the eligius pool?

Same address, but put _antminer1 and _antminer2 etc so you get separate readouts in the stats Smiley

So.. bitcoinaddresshere_antminer1 and bitcoinaddresshere_antminer2

Cyper, I thought the cx600m had 2 pci-e connectors?

Does it use a split pci-e connector? I think I ordered the wrong PSU =/

Would using this cable on the peripheral port work?
http://www.corsair.com/us/parts/psu-parts/type-3-sleeved-black-pci-e-cable.html

Im using cx500 and they have 2 pci-e connectors.

Yes but off one cable, I think thats what people are worried about.
