There's a rumor circulating that BitcoinTalk admin is thinking about removing the alt-coin sub-forum. Any truth to this ?
Doubtful. The Newbie section and the Altcoin sections are the bread and butter of this website. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

so why so many people hate cryptsy if its so great?
Jesus was a pretty cool dude and they crucified him on a cross. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Which reminds me, Jesus walked on water, BigVern swims through land.

I got lucky and started mining DOGE really early.. now with the difficulty incredibly high, I'm looking for the next best thing. I usually just comb the altcoin forum and randomly pick new coins that look promising; it seems that resources such as coinmarketcap and coinwarz don't really tell you much about what coins will grow or stagnate; speculating via this forum seems to be especially hard with the amount of chat traffic the altcoin forum receives.
What are your techniques? Everyone else playing a guessing game, has some good intuition, or resources?
Take a look at the list of coins on coinmarketcap.com and look for those that are undervalued. The trick is to find coins that have a disconnect between underlying fundamentals and market price. Do your homework and realize that coin value is derived from 1.) coin name, 2.) quality of community, and 3.) developer genius. Simply read, study, and research, then find the coins that the market has not found yet and you'll have the future winners. IMO

Hehe. I get it now. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) This begs the question: How do the advantages of the white collar buyer compare to the advantages of the blue collar buyer? Or is the blue collar buyer disadvantaged?

I know there are lot of advantages for sellers to accept Bitcoin. But what are the advantages of a white color byer. I just wanted to list. I am starting off here. Its good, if u add up your points...
1. Buyer's card data is not coming to the seller. So no chance of theft from merchant's end.
2. Buyer's anonymity. (I dont think it is a strong point to convince an average buyer. A tax payer does not care about revealing his identity.)
3. Recurring payment protection. Merchant cant enforce a recurring payment using a small checkbox tick.
What is a "white color byer"?

Look for the coin with a name that's been used throughout human history to mean value and you will have found a gem among pebbles.

In your option what is the best alt coin to mine currently given difficulty etc??
It would depend on your specific goals and objectives. So in your opinion what are some long term coins to grab? Since coins are a product of quality of community, I would recommend finding a coin you can get behind to fully support. The coin is the community, the community is the coin.

![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gldtalk.org%2Fdevteam%2Fstop.jpg&t=663&c=88r83sdcLucwFA) Prominent Chinese bitcoin exchange BTC China is now accepting customer deposits via its corporate bank account, plus offering small prizes to its customers. Bobby Lee, CEO of the exchange, confirmed that customers can now buy bitcoins from the exchange by depositing their funds directly into the company’s account. “Previously, we judged doing this as not being viable, however, we have since changed our stance. We looked again at the guidance issued in December and we think it’s a reasonable for us to accept customer deposits via our corporate bank account,” said Lee. He went on to say BTC China now believes the main message in the memo issued by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) on 5th December was that banks in the country aren’t allowed to set up or become a bitcoin business. How do you actually make a new coin?
Creating a coin is a lot like painting a painting. Get some paint and a canvas and in under 5 minutes you can have a painting. The question becomes, "how do I create a masterpiece?"

Looking to maybe exchange my investment in bitcoins to an alternate cryptocurrency; one thats liable to blow up like bitcoins did. Any opinions on the up and comers? I've heard good things about Doge and Quark, but I wouldn't know for sure as I'm fairly new to this. Thanks for any and all replies!

![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gldtalk.org%2Fdevteam%2Fobey.png&t=663&c=jCsTXIWwsL2JgQ) .. There is a new Altcoin community on Reddit here: http://www.reddit.com/r/altcoinforumThis community will be self-managed and function using a fair and open democratic process. If you would be interested in helping with things like building the custom theme or moderating, please let me know. I have recently allocated $500 to get this project underway and will be dispersing that in the Goldcoin currency to moderators, theme builders, and the first ten people that create a giveaway thread for their favorite coin. Drop by today! The first 10 people that start a giveaway text post will receive 200 Goldcoins (that's $6.00 USD). Please feel free to offer your comments, idea, and suggestions below. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) ..

Number of coins that comes out is waaayyy smaller than one month ago? Dry period or what? Any thoughts? ![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif) I think the new coins will keep flowing like the beer flows at Hooters. One fascinating aspect to consider is the fact that consumers are drawn more to the social value of coins rather than the underlying technical achievements. Look how long gold was used throughout history, and it's pretty basic. As coins continue to be cranked out I think the ones that manage to build the largest and most robust communities will become the ultimate victors. Don't get me wrong, the technical side is important. But for the most part the consumer just wants a cool currency and works.
