26641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two guys are chasing a Bitcoin thief on: April 17, 2014, 11:39:14 AM
i laugh at these "trackers".

spending all their lives looking at blockexplorer.com thinking it will reveal the persons real life home address.

while the thief can make 20 usernames on 10 different exchanges. (200 accounts)

then
1. deposit 100 bitcoins
2. then go into profile settings of account and generate a new address.
3. repeat 1 & 2. four more times to  get 500btc into one account.
4. buy litecoin and withdraw to a litecoin address.

5. go to next account and repeat 1-4

now the "trackers" are seeing bitcoin is being moved, they see 100btc go to an address, and then get split up again. they think its the theif splitting it up, yet the reality if splits below 100btc are other people withdrawing from the exchange mixer.

so the "trackers" are watching all these very small bitcoin transactions, whilst the theif is now playing with litecoins and moving them to an exchange where he can cash out.

there are other coins such as 21coin 42coin 66coin, where their values are of multiple bitcoin. meaning that exchanges wont see as much of a alt coin grab event compared to grabbing thousands of litecoin.

“Once the last coin has been issued, the Bitcoin mining process will shut down forever because there will be no more fresh Bitcoins to pay the miners with”

this guy is really really smart

i always love a good Apocalypse story where the readers will infact be dead when it happens... but in bitcoins case it would be from old age and not the event itself

Industrial mining

Actually Satoshi himself was very aware that this will happen, he mentioned this in one of his mailing list posts.

but did he mention that mining pool owners would add rules to prevent micro transactions. such as a forced 5c minimum spend due to fees
did he mention that bitcoin cant go above $10k price/coin, because of dust limits which would render pennies and micro transactions obsolete
26644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Major Announcement: Bitcoin Association to Become Decentralized on: April 17, 2014, 12:50:40 AM
The Bitcoin Association industry group focused on Bitcoin and related technologies will move to a decentralized model with open and transparent voting system.

http://bitcoinassociation.org/about-us/bitcoin-association-to-become-decentralized/

Please read and provide your thoughts.

Thank you

imagine the registration process as only requiring a username and email address.

the registration script on the server uses a brain wallet code to make a random privkey+public keypair.

it then only saves the username email and PUBLIC key to the registration database. and emails the private key to the user.

(hope your following so far)

now when a user logs in, he types in his email. and private key does not go into any database. a script simply validates the public key saved, to then grant entry.

now inside the system admin cannot see private keys (because they are not saved) making the system safer from hacking making admin unable to say that the website hacked and passwords were compromised. as there are no passwords saved.

i know that website should already be only saving encrypted passwords. but we know that many dont. and i find it a better use of private/public keys to not even need to save a password encrypted or cleartext

26647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Convince me why I should or shouldn't convert all my Silver to BTC on: April 16, 2014, 10:27:21 PM
if your thinking about a jump into bitcoin. do the smart thing

"dont throw all your eggs into one basket"

keep half as silver, but the other half into bitcoin.

reasons
bitcoin has atleast another 125 years of growth.. before it meets its total rarity amount. so thats more than a lifetime.
if bitcoin tanks.. then you can use the other half of silver to buy up btcoins for pennies and catch the profits on the rise that always follows a tank,

just never throw 100% of wealth into one resource, especially at the point where you still have questions about it..

basically if your still half unsure, only risk half.
26648  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overstock Bitcoin Order - Complete nightmare on: April 16, 2014, 09:37:40 PM
does coinbase have a supernode IP for people to add to make sure it relays to them to ensure they see it in a timely manner.. i know this does not help it get confirmed any faster, as thats an issue to do with greedy miners setting priority to people that pay huge fee's.. but atleast ensuring coinbase see's an unconfirmed tx instantly, should help a little.
26649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Merchant acceptance is NEGATIVE for bitcoin" on: April 16, 2014, 08:10:18 PM
merchant acceptance is negative?

whoever thinks that needs to talk to overstock.com, tiger direct.com foodler.com, and the other thousands of businesses. the story appears to be a opinion of a person and not a research result from many merchant interviews. thats why i think that the person making such a remark, is some one creating FUD to get cheap coins
26650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's tell Amazon that we want them to accept bitcoin! on: April 16, 2014, 07:32:26 PM
Rather than copying this letter, people should each write their own letter as it will have more impact than if they receive a hundred "clone" letters. Print it out and mail it for maximum effect.
+1

letters from the prospective of true customers with all their flaws of not being business minded sound better then a cloned letter

As mentioned before make sure you put a lot of thought into what you write as you're taking it upon yourself to represent the Bitcoin community when writing your mail.

we are not representing bitcoin (meaning we are not bitcoin customer service reps) we are amazon customer representing our own preferences of bitcoin over the other options. dont be too sales pitchy, just tel thm that you want bitcoin because you see the benefits of bitcoin from a customers prospective.

what i means to say about bitcoin representation. means that we all use fiat as well. but when we ask businesses to accept fiat, do we all act sales pitchy.. or do we just say, 'im interested in fiat, please accept fiat in the forms of x,y,z
26651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's tell Amazon that we want them to accept bitcoin! on: April 16, 2014, 07:02:31 PM

Bear in mind that if Jeff reads his emails -- and reportedly he does, even if only to skim them before forwarding them to someone else -- then you are shaping whatever impression he has of the bitcoin community. Be as articulate and persuasive as you can, without being adversarial or argumentative.

if i was a business, trying to become a partner or a service that amazon uses then yes being ' as articulate and persuasive as you can, without being adversarial or argumentative'. would be a good trait.

but i and 99% of emails on this topic should be from the prospective of customers, and to leave the 'sales speech' for bitpay/coinbase to do. all that is required for a customer to do is to show there is a demand for the service. trying to sound 'sales pitchy' can be taken as too preachy/over the top.

i wrote my email as more of a basic customer request. rather than a sales pitch. hence why i didn't even draft it like i do with my business communications. as grammar Naziism should only be used for formal documents of business/law. im pretty sure he wont ignore a customer based on spelling, but would ignore a customer based on being too preachy
26652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gcoin (aka Googlecoin) who wins? on: April 16, 2014, 06:24:35 PM
I would never , ever invest in or use google coins.  Google is an obnoxious corporation with entirely too much power that thinks it can do whatever it wants and most of the time it can... It's already taking over the world.
And buying up robotics companies left and right... including Boston Dynamics, the makers of this adorable little nightmare-machine, PETMAN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mclbVTIYG8E

Hi Jeff,

Recently i have read a (presumed) quote from you that your customers do not seem interested in bitcoin.

well i am interested in bitcoin and a large amount of my wealth is in bitcoin, compared to government currency. thus i would be tempted to use amazon often if it accepted bitcoin. as the fee's are much lower than having to 'cash out' to a debit card and then using a debit card on your service.

but until the day you accept bitcoin, i will continue spending in excess of $1000 a month on other services, such as overstock.com

yours sincerly,
A hopeful future bitcoin customer

26654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Merchant acceptance is NEGATIVE for bitcoin" on: April 16, 2014, 05:57:20 PM
the real secret is. when rich people find out about bitcoin, they will try any tactic they can to tempt others not to buy in.. simply so they can buy in cheaper.
26655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Gcoin (aka Googlecoin) who wins? on: April 16, 2014, 05:37:55 PM
although Gcoin is a april fools, if they did invent one. they would peg each coin as being $1 or something. and rely on the fact that people will hand them fiat and hope they can offer enough resources/services/ products, that by the time they take their fee's in the middle and most people not cashing out. that they will end up with a large FIAT stash pile,

google do not like the price variance of bitcoin, so bitcoin will always win the scarce resource digital currency war
google will centralize their mining. so bitcoin will win the decentralized currency war
google will control the fiat exchanging. so bitcoin will win the local exchange war.

although google will try to offer services to merchants online and offline. their fee's wont win them any favours.

imagine it visa charge google 2%, google adds another 1% fee.. and then tries offering merchants a google wallet with a 3% fee

Agreed. I AM JEWISH. When people can't mention that someone is Jewish, or even say the word "Jew," without being accused of antisemitism (or self-hate in our case), I see that as a kind of censorship and intimidation reminiscent of some early policies during the rise of Nazism in Germany. I believe in freedom of speech and thought, not wild accusations and banning words that we use to describe our own heritage.

Finally - an intelligent jew who understands.  Oh wait, is it also racist to call SirWilliam intelligent?  Jews also have that stereotype.

Holy shit what a bunch of hog-wash.

im fat, yet i can still call karpeles a greedy fatty Cheesy
26657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Weaving Is A Better Metaphor for Bitcoin, Instead of Mining on: April 16, 2014, 04:29:12 PM
weaving a chain of transactions to show the whole history of bitcoin.

whats next using this weave to predict fture fraudsters to kill off before they mess with bitcoin, and then learning how to bend the path of a bullet?

analogy: the movie 'wanted'

26660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using Bitcoin to Eliminate Profits on: April 16, 2014, 03:57:38 PM
Here's fun, how might this work?

I'm a company, I want to reduce my profit to zero to not pay income tax. So at the end of every tax year, I invest my profit in Bitcoins, which are property, rendering a zero profit.

After N years, I "lose" the private key or my coins are "stolen", so we right off the property and close the business down. I now move to another country, miraculously find my private key, tumble the coins and buy a small Island in the South Pacific.

Would this be awesomeness?

sounds like a game show, and if i was a contestant

"i will take: 'who is mark karpeles' for $500"
