2681  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Does it have a POSITIVE IMPACT on your life? on: June 17, 2016, 05:17:57 AM
Surely, bitcoin makes trading easier for life. Unlike traditional forex it doesn't involve tedious ways to get started. Thus it brings the opportunity to make a decent profit.

Was going to say nah until I read this. Looking back, i agree. I remember a starting out with various types of traditional finance accounts, it was always a pain in the ass. Ridiculous amounts of identity verification, steep account minimums, and very low rates of return, even on successful trades. Then I found crypto stocks, the neobees and asicminers of yesteryear. No account minimums, damn near free trading commissions, no kyc, it was a beautiful thing. This way how trading was supposed to be. Then I got burned a few times, and realized why the SEC is a good thing Wink

Although both are very risky, I still think trading is much much better than gambling. Use your judgement wisely and also you do not lose everything even when the price dropped. Gambling is equivalent to giving your bitcoins away!

Forgot about gambling. Numbers games are a fools bet. You are playing a game designed for you to lose. Betting on binary events, however, is like purchasing a binary option, and is essentially investing if done prudently.
2683  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: June 17, 2016, 05:07:14 AM
Don't let the kids earn income from outside of the home. Unless necessary, have them spend that energy on personal enrichment. Give them a btc allowance. They will have to become conversant with bitcoin in order to spend it, and you can monitor every transaction. Multisig wallet, hold two of three keys and then you could even approve what they spend it on, they would have to ask permission.

Mammon is an ugly thing. Keep the kids away until it's prudent.
2684  Other / Off-topic / Re: Steady Way To earn Bitcoin Online... on: June 17, 2016, 05:02:33 AM
I'd have to say the signature campaigns, trading is too volatile for my taste. One bad trade, and you are right back where you started Wink
2685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Bad for the environment, taking the worlds energy - yes? on: June 17, 2016, 03:42:30 AM
So make a coin where the computational power is put to use - like foldingcoin. But we all know how foldingcoin turned out...

Agree with this, all those devices should be put to a better task. also, by simply using renewable sources of energy, and wih the continuing evolution of chip efficiency, this shouldn't be a problem if bitcoin reaches primetime. State actors will provide more efficient mining solutions if necessary.
2686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC was Banned? on: June 17, 2016, 03:39:43 AM
First the price would plummet, since there is legit VC in this now, but eventually, like any highly restricted commodity, it would get really expensive Wink black market magic internet money? Count me in!
2687  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to trade safely. on: June 17, 2016, 03:37:14 AM
My Skrill account just got restricted, and has funds in it.

I think some of the buyers might be using unverified accounts? hmm

What's the best way to to sell bitcoins safely without the risk of getting a reversal or a red flag my merchant account?

I cannot ID everybody I trade with especially when they have a solid rep.

So what's your take on this.

Try escrow if you have the option. Unfortunately, since bitcoin transactions are one way, you have to receive a non refundable form of payment at the same time in order for the transaction to "resolve". If not, it's technically pending until the end of the charge back window.

TLDR

Use cash.

How Often Do You Check Your Bitcoin Wallet Balance?

Every time I open the home screen of my device Smiley I gloss over it half the time, if I'm in a rush, but the coinbase widget is chilling there, reminding me how broke I am on a regular interval  Grin
2689  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Threats to bitcoin on: June 17, 2016, 03:31:46 AM
What are the biggest threats to bitcoin right now or in the near future,
I mean things that can really be harmful to the network.

List anything you can think of, just lately after the resent stress test there has been sone interesting discussions going on.

A hostile stance from the public or the government, particularly the government, such as an outright ban or very heavy regulation. Would put the brakes down to the floor immediately. When state actors get involved, things move very quickly.
2690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be divided beyond satoshis? on: June 17, 2016, 03:27:58 AM
Can bitcoin be divided further than 0.00000001?

Only on off-chain ledgers. A transaction smaller than one satoshi will simply not be accepted by the network. Also, the value is so insignificant it's almost useless to track.

But, if the value of btc goes up to something epic, this may have to be considered..
2691  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earning a living with bitcoin? on: June 17, 2016, 03:23:06 AM
it is possible to earn a living with bitcoin, you can either switch your salary to bitcoin

Beware of conversion fees when you exchange to fiat,, unless you can live off of gift cards.

or you can do something to get paid or earn bitcoin.

The smart move, but again, if you are going to be paying anything that must be paid in fiat, unless they directly accept btc, you will be moving that money through some type of exchange. Wink
2692  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Muslim Bitcoiner on: June 17, 2016, 03:17:51 AM
This whole topic is a lie. A lair pretending to be very ethical and purist has started it and some other liars has joined him. It is part of a criminal, terrorist activity too I suppose, they are fooling people that there is an exceptional ecosystem named 'Islam' in which people do care a lot about doing the right thing.

It is a lie. No ideal religious ecosystem exists, it has not been existed and won't be in existence in the future. There exist only extremist liars  who do not believe in god at all, have not a clue about humanity and basic values like, honor, love, kindness, being humble, etc. which was the main cause the God originated the religions (including Islam). They just stick with some old-fashioned traditions like sexual discrimination, violence and .... which they have found in recent years very useful for their obvious thirst and hunger for power, women, money , ...

This fucking 'Halal' discourse is part of it. They use this discourse to fool naive under-educated usually young people for their next more violent propaganda. Next step is to convince people about the necessity of Sharia' Law to save the community which implies an unlimited power in hands of "the legitimate" interpreters of this law,  and finally their stupid young victim has to take the final step, Jihad which seems to be very funny and exciting but is a huge crime against humanity and the victim himself and unforgivable sane before the God.

I am a Muslim myself. I know this extremist devils extensively. They are liars believe me and don't pay any attention to them. They are criminals and eventually will be punished for their crimes, stick with your beliefs and your culture. Islam is just one another religion, all of the religions are planned by the God to make people happier and better and all of them repeat simple instructions about being honest and kind to each other and to have a good faith in humanity and what is trying to accomplish through its history.

Just to be clear, you are communicating that discussion about the morality of bitcoin will eventually lead to terrorism?

I'm serious, you confused me a bit.
2693  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you call someone with 1000BTC? on: June 16, 2016, 03:07:21 AM
1000 it's near 1 million dollars, it's quite a bit, yet again, there are tons of new millionaires yearly.

In a decade someone holding 1000 will be a billionaire. It will be extremely rare that someone still holds as many coins by then.

Exactly. It's a nice chunk if change, but not something one couldn't achieve within a lifetime if one wanted. Still, hell of a wad of btc. Capital gains will help you with some of that burden Smiley
2694  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you like to receive your salary in BTC? on: June 15, 2016, 10:21:28 PM
I received a btc wage for a few years, working for an exchange. Btc salaries suck. First off, no one accepts btc in the "real world". Essentially, you will have to convert back to fiat to pay anything meaningful, which means paying a service fee. This adds up on bigger tabs (like the rent and utilities). It's like working for 3-9% less wage due to conversion fees.
2695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone claim to be Satoshi? on: June 15, 2016, 09:13:23 PM
Excellent question, answer: they wouldn't. One would expose oneself to an asston of risk, ESP if satoshi doesn't live in an established country. A corrupt gov or organized crime could take it all.

In other words, no one has an incentive to make this claim. Distrust those that do.
2696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We missed the ETH train. on: June 06, 2016, 06:01:09 PM
Support typically means that the price meets resistance when it gets to a certain level. I can see support keeping the price above x, but not making the price rise to y.
2697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GEMZ - Unmoderated thread on: May 31, 2016, 04:17:39 AM
I would also suggest downloading the app and using it. See for yourself how "awesome" it is. Get your free Gem daily. View the ads in the ad channel and earn more gems. Invite your friends and start getting a daily "airdrop". Don't forget about the bitcoin wallet....store your bitcoin in the app. I'll admit it was a little buggy in the beginning, but it's working flawlessly now and awaiting the masses!! There is much more to come with the Attention Economy and Getgems Keyboard. 155,000 users now, I expect it to keep growing exponentially. Ignore the "Back-seat driving disgruntled trolls" who twist the truth and have no clue about the vision Daniel has for Getgems/Getgems Keyboard/Attention Economy.

Only a fool would store their BTC in the Getgems app. The app is still buggy as evidenced by the decision by Poloniex to delist GEMZ, as many users are experiencing issues transferring their coins. Getgems is only getting attention in the App store because they listed it as 'Telegram with Getgems'. If it was simply 'getgems', the downloads would drop substantially.

That was hilariously harsh, but oh so true. It takes an age and a day to send gems to and from the app, it will be a cold day in hell before i send a satoshi of value to that btc wallet.

Try sending Gemz on-chain. They never got it working right.

The only GG features that are solid are the ones inherent to Telegram.

Everything else is buggy, half-finished, or useless.

That's not true. I wouldn't expect anything more from you.

The problems with transferring Gems has been a Counterparty issue not Getgems. You can't build something like this overnight and have all the bugs worked out. It takes a while and they are definitely close! I have recently transferred some Gems to the app and some out of Polo to different wallets. Everything has gone smooth. I think Counterparty may have fixed things since the threatened delisting. The Getgems team is constantly improving the app with every upgrade.

It's smooth, it's just really, really slow. I'm responsible for some of those faucet sign-up advertisements you see pop up every now and again on the cryptocurrency channel. It takes roughly an hour to send funds from Polo to one's gem wallet. I have not experienced this delay with vfaucet (a counterparty asset faucet). I use polo addresses to receive, I get my faucet earnings in 15 minutes or less (gems, bitcrystals and storj). It would seem to be the app in this particular case, but I certainly may be wrong.
2698  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sent All DevCoins from VirCurEx to my old Devcoin address that was on a dead PC on: May 31, 2016, 03:02:52 AM
Due to Vircurex stating that we had to remove all DVC, I was hurried and in a rush and I accidentally sent ALL my Devcoins to an address that I had used many times on a laptop that now broken and dead.

Thanks

What kind of broken we talking? Broken like the printer from Office Space? Or with an intact hard drive? If so, remove or have removed the old drive, and hook it up to a working rig. Access your files like it's no one's business. Easy as pie my man  Grin Most of the time we see these, they lost the computer in college/ a race war/ Armageddon and recovering the drive isn't a possibility. The fact you have access to the drive is half the battle.

You'ré welcome, and I actually want those coins if you do this Wink
2699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Would you advise Friends or Family to invest in Altcoins ? on: May 31, 2016, 02:48:15 AM

Would you advise the average users out there (friends & family) to get into this stuff ?
Bearing in mind the level of Computer skill the people may have.

Yeah, sure. To the friend that fucked my sister.
Or the in law that I hated.

Or maybe that cousin that owes me money  Grin

But seriously, if I care about you, I'm gonna tell you it's kryptonite unless you are an experienced trader with a guardian angel of money in attendance.
