2681  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: EU crypto taxation proposal will target firms all over the world on: December 14, 2022, 01:28:53 PM
https://www.theblock.co/post/193234/eu-crypto-taxation-proposal-firms-global
Companies offering EU residents crypto services will need to report on transactions to tax authorities.
The European Commission aims for the new rules to be enforced on Jan 1. 2026.
“Tax authorities currently lack the necessary information to monitor proceeds obtained by using crypto-assets, which are easily traded across borders,” the European Commission wrote in a statement. “This severely limits their ability to ensure that taxes are effectively paid, which means European citizens lose important tax revenues.”

Very difficult to enforce! EU legislation can only target EU companies and EU residents. But they can't enforce their decisions and make companies operating outside the EU to follow their law. This kind of legal provision works in good faith. If a company wants, they can willingly do so, but it's their call whether to do it or not! EU has no power to force a company to follow it if they don't have a physical footprint in EU.

Also, it's a proposal and not a law yet. I don't see much impact even if it is signed as a law in EU. It seems ECB and EU parliament is doing everything they can do to bring down the importance and circulation of cryptos in EU.
All these requirements will comply with SEC standards, and all large companies in the world are subject to SEC standards.
Of course, that some Asian company will not comply with these requirements, then it will be closed to the European and American markets.

In this situation, what can be the best way to store our stable coins  Huh
CASH only!
If you are saving cash means literally you are losing every year approximately 5% of your saving as global average inflation rate for current times is around that. When we are talking about crypto stable coins are not safer to store value, we must need to remember government's cash are practically danger to our saving. If you prefer cash to store your wealth then I guess you may go risking your wealth even with anything as cash got guaranteed depression of 5% whereas most investment things got at least 10% chances for appreciations.
What do you think is better: to lose 5% per year due to inflation or to risk losing all your savings?
More reliable than cash has not yet been invented. Of course, this depends on the country of residence, because in my country, cash can be quickly exchanged for cryptocurrency and vice versa, and this is not taxed.

2689  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: December 11, 2022, 01:00:13 PM
Concerning problems for Europe Smiley

"While the average price of central heating in 2021 was about 407 euros per year for an average apartment in Cologne, it will now rise to about 705 euros per year in 2022"

So, the price is kind of creepy. BUT:
1. was 407 / 12 = 34 Euro/month
2. becomes 705 / 12 = 58 Euro/Year
3. The standard state pension (not to be confused with the average pension) in Germany is 1396 euros.
34 euros = 2.4%
58 euros = 4.1%

Those. will increase by 1.7% of the level of income.

And now, let's look at the data in Russia, which is so worried about the "freezing and impoverished Europe":
1. Average pension in Russia: 13,000-16,000 rubles (although in reality there are 9,000 rubles)
2. The average cost of heating an average apartment (2 rooms): (from Russian sources) "The average Russian family that lives in an apartment building pays 5294 R per month for utilities. Of this amount, 30%, that is, 1584 R per month, - payment for heating. Those. applied 1600 rub/month. Or from the average pension it is = 10% Smiley And this calculation was given before the increase in prices for utilities, heating, gas .. in Russia Smiley
... well, and a cherry on the cake: 1600 rubles / 68 = 23.5 Euro / month, despite the fact that the income level differs by almost an order of magnitude, but not in favor of Russia Smiley
You have not been to Russia for a long time, but it is difficult to find a person with a pension of 9,000 rubles. The pension has long been raised to 13,000-16,000 rubles.
To receive the minimum pension, you need to work unofficially most of your life.
I watched an interview with a European who says that 1400 euros a month is very little, but people have been working all their lives, so they have savings and other additional sources of income. The same is true in Russia.

I'm going to piss you off so much Smiley
I was born back in the days of the USSR. Born in the city of Novosibirsk and. That's where my parents come from. Guess if I have any relatives there? Did my parents have friends there? I will answer - there were, and a lot! And I communicate with them. I also have a relative in the Krasnodar Territory - I also communicate with them. There are familiar residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (temporarily occupied), their family (parents) have been living there since the 60s ... I also communicate with them. Guess where I got my data from? From propaganda? Maybe let's go to the time machine and compare the prices in the chains, the pharmacy, and the assortment in Russia in dynamics, from 2014 to today? The problem with the Russians is that they think that when they habitually lie, no one will reveal this, and no one will know how it really is Smiley
You miss the simple facts. It is very difficult to live in Russia for 9000 rubles, it is less than 150 dollars. Pensioners have benefits and compensations, for example, 30-50% refund for utilities. In Russia, no one hopes for a pension, because it is very difficult to live on one pension.

"Arbitrum ecosystem DeFi protocol Lodestar Finance tweeted that it was exploited and deposits have been drained. The protocol has set all interest rates to 0.

An attacker manipulated the exchange rate of the plvGLP contract to 1.83 GLP per plvGLP. They supplied plvGLP collateral to lodestar and borrowed all available liquidity. After the hack several plvGLP holders also took advantage of the opportunity and also cashed out at 1.83 glp per plvGLP. The hacker burned a little over 3 million in GLP, their profit on this exploit was the stolen funds on Lodestar - minus the GLP they burned.

Lodestar Finance said that 2.8 million of the GLP (about $2.4 million) was recoverable. The team is going to reach out to the hacker and see if they can negotiate a bug bounty to recover more funds."

Since you've said about comfortability, I'm not comfortable holding assets in USDT and that's why I don't hold any of it. And if I want to have a stablecoin, I've got another preference for it. Maybe it could be USDC, BUSD, or DAI. Yeah, the two are also centralized but that's it.
If that's just a preference, I'd rather have any of the two than to have it on USDT.

All stablecoins are owned by large companies in the crypto market. And the risks of losing money are always present, because the owners of these large companies know much more than crypto-hamsters like us. Some of the coins need to be stored in the cache.

2694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your opinion on the future of Decentralised exchanges on: December 10, 2022, 07:56:25 PM
Decentralized Exchange (DEX) is the future. For now, a lot of people still don't appreciate these decentralized exchanges and they have some reasons for it.
Like why they intend to stay using centralized up until now.
I'm not telling centralized exchanges are really bad, but there are just pros and cons to both centralized/decentralized exchanges. Depends from your goal if decide which one to use.
There is no future for decentralized exchanges. In a few years, most of the cryptocurrency market will be regulated by the SEC and similar regulators. Recently, in a closed group, there was a conversation with a representative of a major exchange from the top 20.
Regulators send them recommendations, but do not force them to comply with these requirements. The requirements of the SEC apply to most countries, and if a crypto exchange refuses to comply with these requirements, then it will be banned in many countries. The same applies to large decentralized exchanges. They will all cooperate with regulators.Of course, there will be ways of decentralized exchange in new projects, but they will be greatly inferior in terms of liquidity and opportunities.

I put some ETH, ETC, LINK, DOT, BNB and MATIC on my ledger. Is there a way to generate a passive income for these if I keep them on my ledger?
And why do you need it? Trading on the ledger is done through partners, and I wrote about cases where they got in big trouble because their assets were blocked. Also, learn about staking first. It is better to work directly with each project, and then you will have full control over your coins. I had to transfer the polcadot to another wallet because some of the functions in the ledger did not work when participating in auctions for parachains.
2696  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do in this case? on: December 09, 2022, 02:52:49 PM
A well known crypto newbie contact me about two crypto project he his currently holding, Mina Protocol and Fuel, the problem is Alameda and FTX are big investors of these two projects, he is asking if he should sell his bag and replace with other altcoin?

Is this a good reason to sell off your coins and replace with another that Alameda and FTX aren't involved? Pls drop your idea .

What will you do in this case?
Has your friend studied the tokenomics of projects and the schedule for distributing tokens from investors? Does he know the schedule for unlocking these tokens from Alameda or FTХ? Or does he want other people to do analytics for him for free?
If it's a small amount, like a few thousand dollars, then I wouldn't do anything. If the amount is greater, then you need to analyze these assets.

2698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Islamic" -by Economist Bruce Fenton on: December 09, 2022, 02:40:55 PM
There isn't a need to drag religion into this. Bitcoin just like Fiat can be use the right way and also be misused according to Islamic teachings. With fiat you could lend them with or without interest, same goes to bitcoin lending, the lenders could decide to add in interest it is now left for the lendee to reject the offer if he is on Islamic ruling. The edge bitcoin has over banking sectors is its ability to be controlled by the owner whereas in banking some actions are taken with the owners knowledge. And some of these money in banks are used for businesses that are frowned upon based on teachings of Islam. With bitcoin they have total control of it.

Otherwise bitcoin usage goes same way as the fiat just the investor has the deciding factor.
The main question has always been what is bitcoin in relation to Sharia law. If it is money, then the owners have certain obligations, for example, paying zakat if you had a certain number of coins during the year. If it's a product, then that's another matter.
