2701  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]R17x: Black Arrow Prospero X-3 <DZMC Exclusive> $130 / 40GHS on: January 19, 2014, 11:32:48 PM

The website will track and request payment for everything.

At the moment, the new site won't let me log in with my old P/W. If I explore setting up a new account, the site asks up front for a BTC payout address. Up until now, I have liked being able to use different BTC addys for different rounds. Will it now be only one BTC addy per customer (email addy) or is that something temporary?

Thanks!

Easiest way is to create a new account, with a different email. This may be an option in the future but will take time to implement.

If you at some point need to change your BTC address from a GB where you receive dividend, what are the procedure? A signed message of prof for the address?

Also is there somewhere we can confirm out payout address and shares, such as an excel spreadsheet, or on the (existing/new) website?
There will be a google doc when I get all / most of the payout address'. The new site forces you to provide one and checks to make sure its a valid one (doesn't check to make sure its yours).

Is the new page ready and operational?
Can I place orders for R17 (batch 2) and R23?

Will R23 already start hashing 22-Jan-2014?
2704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest $10,000 into Quark or Dogecoin? on: January 19, 2014, 08:44:29 PM
Let's see .....

Whatever I invest in, it's Money CASH, $$$ POWER!!!
   So, I better invest wisely.
Let's see....

Dogecoin was created as a joke......I could invest in it, because there are creative marketers and I know the value will rise, so I can make money on it.
But do I believe in it as a coin? Not really. No reason to, that I have seen so far.

What about Quark coin ? Looks like LOTS of development on the horizon.

I have to figure, do I want short term rise in investment for the sake of making money fast?
Or should I invest into something that actually has a future? Although it may take a little longer for the financial rise to happen, because there aren't 100 fake hypsters being paid in dogecoin to spread such nonsense.

Decisions, decisions....

I would spread the investment out on many different coins, a stock trader would never have a holding of one type of stock.
Find the coins you want to invest in, and then decide the ratio, a good portefolio always have at least 50% of "safe" stocks.

an investment scheme could look like this:

50% BTC
30% LTC
10% PPC
5% DOGE
5% QUARK

Notice that relatively high amount of LTC, this is due to the current treat of GHash.IO and "51% attacks" to bitcoin, LTC would ofcause be immune and would rise as a very strong coin if BTC would collapse. LTC has also shown the same potential as BTC (it is just a few year behind in development), I also believe that LTC is a bit under-priced right now, which makes it a good time to invest.

PPC has high potential, because of it low electricity cost mining and is 3rd biggest coin in term of value, the community is doing a great effort of adapting the coins to merchants.

DOGE and QUARK, high risk coin, potential to rise to the sky or fall to the ground.

This price man... We are orbiting the moon right now.. But who cares about the moon... Venus here we come...

I belive in DOGE's future potential, and there will definitely be a price jump when the blockreward halfs... but the price right now, looks like a pump'n'dump, I hope I am wrong ofcause...

Trading volume is more than 4 000 000 $/24 h. It looks like a real thing, not a pump'n'dump.

I hope your forecast are right Smiley

cryptsy is so fucking shit, lost money because of laggy site

Same happened to me...some big fish got some of my doges, I am not a good doge trader definetely, plus the f****** lag of cryptsy, my computer got stuck many times trying to set one order and the webpage goes late when updating orders and prices, I supposed that happened to so many, the system cannot hold fast enough such amount of orders and changes. It should be on btc-e since before it existed!

Seriously, try Vicurex for a day or two, I have only positive things to say about them.

I will, for sure. I've read already some persons writing good things about Vircurex. It seems more reliable.

I have been using it for 2 month, I had no problem, been trading LTC, PPC and DOGE.
Been setting up orders and deleting them later, I had zero issues with them so far.

Even getting funds off/on the exchange bay goes relatively fast, 4 confirms for BTC and 10 confirms for DOGE.

How many hours do I need to sync the wallet? I've been watching the slow block countdown for 3 hours and still 6500 blocks to go.

That depend on your internet connection ofcause... it will get there eventually

What to do?
1. Sell all DOGES (161 000 D) and buy HD6870 with ~350 kh/s instead of my shitty 9600GT (21 kh/s)
or
2. wait long till price rise to 200 satoshi and buy better one (eg. HD7870, R9 270X, HD6970) with ~400 - 550 kh/s?

I can recommend to get MSI R9 280X, I got two of them in December, they have been running rock-steady at 714 kH/s (total 1428 kH/s), 75C for 1 month 24/7, relatively easy to undervolt and they do not make to much noise, been using them for DOGE mining (of cause). With the new current rate of DOGE, they have almost reach ROI.

Is ANYTHING hashing at this time? Old links are gone. Please post new links to workers.

R23 on the new dzminercoop site.

Is R23 still open? Will hashing start already Wednesday (22-Jan-2014)?

I am a bit paranoid about the new website and the possibility of fishing, can bobsag3, thomas_s or DyslexicZombei confirm that: the new website black/orange, with only two products available (r17 and r23)?
2713  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: what's the most efficient mining hardware available? (bachelor thesis) on: January 19, 2014, 01:38:21 AM
I know that mining is not profitable at all due to rising difficulty caused by "mining-noobs", losing a lot of their money.

I agree that the margin for profit is small, but not profitable is not true.
Most miners has experienced both loss and gains, but that is properly not much different that any other business.

The reward for mining is self-adjusting, as long as there is a block reward to compete on, then will there be miners to race for the reward.
If the block reward exceed the cost in electricity and roi is impossible then will some miners (with lower hashrate = lower probability to find the block) shut down, and then will the difficulty go down, and then will roi be possible for others. The system will self-adjust to a level where there is a profit for the miners.

Even when all 21 mil BTC has been mined will there still be competition to claim the tx-fee's in the block.

The system (bitcoin) is on a ramp-up right now, so it is very difficult to make any scientific conclusions based the current situation, I believe a more holistic approach is needed.

2720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 290 vs 290x 2 card system on 1000w psu possible? on: January 14, 2014, 10:00:13 AM
I have a noname 1200W PSU 80bronze and 3 290X (one with Powered Riser) and the System uses 1120W in total. The cards doing fine with 885kh/s at 60grad celsius.
When starting up the system uses 150W.

So I think it should work.

I agree, the manufacturers are conservative with the spec (which is good).

I run MSI R9 280X, which is specified for 375W on 12V.
With default volting it draws 300W on the 12V at full hashing, with undervolting its 270W.

One more comment; bronze rated PSU has typical less efficiency at full load, as little as 80 % efficiency, maybe that is worth taking into consideration if you pay for your own electricity. That is 200W wasted, unless you use your rig to heat the house Cheesy
