2701  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: wap.hotcap.top which claims to be a hotcoin pro. on: February 18, 2022, 04:47:46 PM
I made some profit using a guidance of one person I never met before.
You didn't make any profit.
They only showed you a fake number as your balance. In fact, you didn't have any bitcoin.

They said I have to pay 23-25% taxes to be able to withdraw the money.
Any service asking you to make a deposit to be able to withdraw the fund is a scam.
Don't waste more money and your time on that website.

Managed to withdraw 200usdt from there for the first time
I am pretty sure the fund you deposited is much more than that 200 dollars.
And note that even if such services give you some money, they are still scam. That's how ponzi schemes work.
2702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is 51% attack only possible on the latest block? on: February 18, 2022, 11:33:30 AM
If someone has more than 51% of the total hash rate, they are even able to reverse transactions with so many confirmations. Note that this is just in theory and it's very very unlikely that someone can perform such an attack.

Let's say the latest block that has been mined is block number 1000 and the attacker wants to remove/change a transaction from block number 950.
The attacker has 60% of the total hashrate. The attacker mines the block number 950 while the other miners are trying to mine block number 1001.
With the 60% of the total hashrate, the attacker is able to mine the blocks at a higher rate.
After some time, the attacker's chain will become longer than the chain mined by honest miners and becomes the main chain.

Again, this is only in theory and it's not practical.
2703  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Transaction History Scan, fails on: February 18, 2022, 12:44:45 AM
How are you sure that your Bitcoin core is not running in pruned mode?
That doesn't seem to be the problem.
According to the Armory log that has been posted in the OP, 531708 blocks were scanned successfully.
If prune mode was enabled in bitcoin core, those blocks data wouldn't be available and Armory wouldn't be able to scan any block.
2704  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoinpaperwallet.com - scam still alive? on: February 17, 2022, 08:06:49 PM
The website in question turned into a scam after its ownership was changed in 2018 and is probably still owned by the same scammer.

Maybe here more people who lost their money?
Yes, Visit the following topics.

bitcoinpaperwallet[.]com is a scam
Why has my newly created Bitcoin address already been used?

2705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Totally newbie bitcoin user question on: February 17, 2022, 07:19:43 PM
OK so what would be a good open source  app to use on iOS if anybody knows? Sorry if I’m being redundant.
If you were on Android or Windows, I would suggest electrum.
I think bluewallet should be a good alternative to electrum for iPhone users.

Disclaimer:
I haven't ever used bluewallet on iPhone. So do your own research before using that.
And wait. Others may have better suggestions for you.
2706  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Totally newbie bitcoin user question on: February 17, 2022, 06:01:50 PM
Would  the Bitcoin.com app be secure enough to store bitcoin for more than a couple days? That’s the main app I think that I would be using on iOS anyway. I don’t even know where the private keys are in that app.
Bitcoin.com wallet is close-source and we don't know how much secure it is. Since we don't have any information about it, it's better to assume that it's not secure and go for an open-source wallet.

I don’t even know where the private keys are in that app.
All your private keys can be derived from your seed phrase (a series of 12 words).
2707  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum newbie question on: February 17, 2022, 05:39:50 PM
Have you tested if this is actually working, because I didn't and I uninstalled Blue wallet during AOPP mess?
To make sure it's still working, I just tested it. It had been a long time since the last time I used bluewallet.
Below is the screenshot I took from bluewallet.

Bluewallet by default supports BIP39 that can't be converted from electrum seed format, so I don't understand how they can make differentiate from imported BIP39 and Electrum seed words.
If you enter a BIP39 seed phrase, it generates your BIP39 wallet.
If you enter a seed phrase generated by electrum and there's a used address in the wallet, it automatically detects that and creates same addresses as your electrum wallet.
2708  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: February 17, 2022, 04:50:48 PM
Maybe because I verified it myself after signing the message? Can that be the cause?
No. That's not the problem.

It is a Coinomi wallet.
I tried to verify your message even with Coinomi and was still unsuccessful.
You are probably doing something wrong when copy-pasting the message or signature. An extra space or a missing space is enough for getting error when verifying the message.

Is it that I should not click on verify after signing it?
It doesn't matter.
2709  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum newbie question on: February 17, 2022, 04:33:11 PM
Seed words will recover all your addresses, but only Electrum wallet is supported if you generated seed words in Electrum.
You can import the seed phrase generated using electrum into bluewallet too.
It should be mentioned that if there is no used address in the wallet, you can't import it into bluewallet. There is a requirement that the wallet must have received fund.
2710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I came as a beginner who wants to learn more knowledge on: February 17, 2022, 01:54:57 AM
I have been using a trust wallet for a long time can it be signed?
You can't sign message using trustwallet.
If you want to know how to sign a message from a bitcoin address, click here and read the guide provided by shorena.

Note that if you insist on signing message from an address generated by trustwallet for any reason, you can import your seed phrase into another wallet and sign a message. Of course, I don't recommend to do so. Trustwallet is close-source and it's better to create a new wallet using an open-source wallet like electrum.
2711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best way to mix small amounts of Bitcoin? on: February 16, 2022, 11:36:20 PM
According to preev the total BTC of $150 is 0.003399BTC if you are going to use Chipmixer you can't send them all you must send 0.001 and 0.002.
There is no need to make two transactions. You can send 0.003 BTC in a single transaction.
If you send any amount between 0.003 BTC and 0.004 BTC, you will receive 0.003 BTC (in 0.001 BTC and 0.002 BTC chips or three 0.001 BTC chips) and the remaining amount will be donated to chipmixer.
2712  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum newbie question on: February 16, 2022, 09:53:04 PM
I just realized that when I sent bitcoins to my electrum wallet, actually it was received on different reception addresses (on the same electrum wallet).
Are you saying that you sent the fund to address A and now electrum is saying that the fund has been received in address B?
Am I getting you correctly? If so, that's impossible.
Check the transaction you made on a block explorer. You are probably missing something.

If the other address has been a part of your wallet since the beginning (meaning you didn't import it and it was generated automatically) then you will be to recover that address using your seed.
Electrum doesn't allow you to import a new address to an HD wallet at all.
2713  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Desktop wallets using 2FA. on: February 16, 2022, 07:59:33 PM
Is there any specific reason you have the same wallet in two different devices? If you answer this question, someone may be able to give you a solution better than 2FA.

With electrum's 2FA, as mentioned by OmegaStarScream, you will be charged an extra fee and it may not be a good solution for you.
And if you want to use a wallet other than electrum with 2FA feature, then you will have to give full control of your fund to a third party.
2714  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Totally newbie bitcoin user question on: February 15, 2022, 11:27:13 PM
So could I have a Bitcoin.com mobile app Wallet and the imported into Blockchain or something? Or buy currency from Bitcoin.com in their app, and then import that fact that I bought that currency into Blockchain or something?
Yes, you can buy bitcoin on bitcoin.com and many other services and send the fund to any wallet you want.

If you have bitcoin on bitcoin.com wallet and you want to access the fund using other wallets, you have two options.
1. Exporting the seed phrase and importing it into any wallet supporting BIP39 seed phrases.  (In this case, you don't make any transaction)
2. Making a transaction from bitcoin.com wallet to any wallet you fund. (This option is more secure, because you will no longer need to trust bitcoin.com)
2715  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Totally newbie bitcoin user question on: February 15, 2022, 08:47:43 PM
Blockchain seems to be good, except the buttons are not labeled very well.
I recommend you to avoid blockchain.com wallet. It's close source and there is no way to know whether the keys are stored on their server or not. Their wallet is also very buggy.

I'd avoid using bitcoin.com as they're not very trusted due to mislabelling bitcoin as bitcoin core (at least in the past, not sure if they're still doing it).
I just visited bitcoin.com. They are no longer doing that. Of course, they are still unreliable.
2716  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: valuable experience on: February 15, 2022, 06:05:28 PM
You didn't tell us how you lost your money.
You deposit bitcoin into a website which you thought it's an exchange and you can trade there. But after you deposited, you understood it's a gambling website, not an exchange. Am I getting you right?

What did you do after you understood that it's a gambling website?
Didn't you try to withdraw the fund? Or you wager the fund an lost it? Or you tried to withdraw, but they didn't process the withdrawal?
What happened exactly?
2717  Other / Meta / Re: changing the password be categorized as a trading account on: February 15, 2022, 12:29:41 PM
All that won't be necessary, at least not now. OP just made his first post ever. They don't have anything to worry with security as I doubt if hackers go after such accounts. It's obviously worthless to them.
You are right.
The total time the account in question has been online is only 16 minutes and clearly there shouldn't be anything to worry about. That's exactly why I don't think this is OP's main account. I think it was made only for creating this topic and I doubt it will become online again.
2718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I am searching for new projects which can give legit free cloud mining on: February 15, 2022, 11:27:41 AM
He can risk his time but not money as he only looks for free version of cloud mining and not the paid one's.......
A cloud mining service that is claimed to be free will probably ask for a deposit whenever the user requests a withdrawal. There have been many services that scammed people in this way.
They show you a number as amount of bitcoin you have mined so far and set a minimum withdrawal amount. Once you reach the minimum amount and request a withdrawal, they say that you must deposit bitcoin for paying the withdrawal fee.
2719  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on synchronizing on: February 15, 2022, 07:23:30 AM
Is there another GUI or CLI wallet software I could use that can work with this number of transactions?
I think the best thing you can do is to use bitcoin core and run your own full node.
In this case, you will have the full blockchain on your device and there wouldn't be any problem when dealing with addresses that have big transaction history.

Just note that bitcoin core won't accept any seed phrase and you will have to import private keys.
2720  Other / Meta / Re: changing the password be categorized as a trading account on: February 15, 2022, 07:03:26 AM
No. There wouldn't be any problem.
I recommend you to stake a bitcoin address on "Stake your Bitcoin address here" thread.
In the case you are accused of buying the account, you will be able to prove that you are the real owner of the account. A staked address can also help you if you lose access to your account for any reason and want to recover that.

Note that you should use an address which you have full control over that, so you can to sign a message from that.
