How is sMerit created for members who aren't merit sources? Currently, the merit I have is from my activity over the past year, what happens when i spend all of this sMerit?
Are you serious For current members, your initial merit score is equal to the minimum required to your rank. Of that, a certain amount (less than the usual half) is spendable. The spendable amount was calculated based on your current rank and the number of activity points you earned in the last year. A Legendary member who hasn't posted in the last year would still be Legendary, but would not have any spendable merit.
If someone sends you 1 merit, the 0.5 sMerit is not wasted; it is just not shown until you get another merit point.
You must be the half brother of rip van winkle

Coming from your post history and I will say you are doing good. Do not push it too hard. The community is very friendly. Make friends. I spend most of my time here because I like it to be here. What I get from here is, a place to hang up.

Note: I'm a nobody. I will earn my place here.
I see 30 red tag in one day so far(!) Good job that you are leaving references. I had no intention whatsoever to make fun of anyone. You pulled my leg in the first place so you had to take the heat. No wonder you did the same with others too. No one has nothing to do with you here. Your actions will speak for you always. Good luck with earning the place, it's not too hard.

I don't think this is much of a problem if you are having real discussions and/or writting constructive posts. I remember seeing a user from the Coinroll sign campaign doing ~150 posts in a week (If I'm not mistaken) and his account looks ok so far.
I have also seen a few users from the same campaign I'm currently participating doing 100~150 posts in 1-2 specific weeks.
Ok BIG relief. Thank you for the response. I can assure the community that I am on discussions. Yes, lately I decided to wear a sig (today my second week will be completed) but for that I only needed 25 posts a week. I enjoy my time here and posting over 100 posts is a direct result of my time I spend for the community.

Seems like we are done with finding answer for your query and it should be satisfactory. In that case, can I request you to lock the topic

I have to tell you that world isn't spinning around you buddy.
Well said mate. I heard someone was saying the guy is looking for some respect around here. @mdayonliner, that man, digaran, just need to be respected, because you know, he is one of merit sources and he demanded a respect in one of his posts which lately he said it was a sarcasm.
SOMEBODY PLEASE get this man a gun! some respects!

this happens because you post too much in one day, and the time lag is in use too quickly. Another cause is also because the post in publishing is considered by SPAM moderator. Wait 10 days ahead. if you repeat the same error it may be banned permanently
If you excuse me, is there any restriction of posting daily or stuff? If I count it correctly then in the last 7 days I have posted more than 100 posts.... Just asking... is that a problem? PS: I am not spam posting.

It's not against the forum rules to have multiple accounts here, but I agree it's a problem when done industrially and most people who sign up to the forum these days probably do so with multiple accounts which has lead to things like the merit system being introduced. You can't really stop the practice and hence why people are allowed multiple accounts, but I think charging a substantial fee for the ability to have a signature would put a stop to farming but I doubt it will be implemented.
There must have been a good reason/reasons for having multiple account. Whatever the reason is (which I do not know) as long as you do not involved with abusing the forum rule then I do not see any problem. It's a platform own by a person or group of people for a bigger/greater cause. When you are on to something big there will be other people who will try to take advantage from it for their own interest. So no wonder these bad people will be here too. Now us who are with the good cause we will make sure we are giving our contributions to make it a better place.

The amount seems for every single person who perform the task means 500 * 0.10 = 50 ETH you are going to spend. I would like to see you escrow the amount and leave a signed the link here with a signed message. Further more... Good try, I will have my eyes on you for next few weeks to see what else comes out from you. Welcome to the forum by the way.

Well done, you made a solid ground quoting theymos's comment, seems like you were looking for that to defend yourself. I agree with this approach. I considered giving merit proportional to activity, but I decided not to because doing so would probably give far more undeserved merit than deserved merit in total. But undoubtedly some people got screwed by this, and if they have decent posts, by all means, give them the 250 or 500 merit that they need to rank-up.
Ok, I understand that you said... ....i felt that he would do good to the community as a higher ranked member. It's not like he is participating in a signature campaign or something. He makes good post and i read them often. You felt ? Just because you felt ?? Did you ever consider seeing his post history? ( archive). Altcoin Discussion is his home and hard to find a comment that talks constructive. And you felt he makes good post, he would do good to the community when he become a higher rank member ?!?? He is waiting to become a higher rank member so that he can earn more from the signature spamming and possibly some other spammy way. Since you were wise to find a reference from theymos, here is another one from theymos which I think you missed(!!!) While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.
I highlighted with green and bold.PS: Feel free to read my Merit translation parody when you have some spare time.
update: Did anyone yet noticed this... Click here if unable to see imageAll these merit giving tags has been removed I guess theymos wrote a script to remove the tags when it's too many. It looks better now.

Thanks for suggestion, I edited the title. Eventually I may need to include his username explicitly to avoid further scam victims.
LoyceV deserves more than me coz s/he suggested it and I only backed it up. By the way it's much better LoyceV (LOL again, seems like you are an expert in this kind of job) has a topic on the Scam Accusations board where s/he exposed scammer John547s3. I was scammed too by that user. What I did is... I sent same message to several media to make sure that the guy does not get paid for scamming both the company and the BitcoinTalk members. Read this for idea if you want to. I sent text to their telegram, Facebook, Twitter, email (got that from the admin of their teregram), reddit etc media to make sure somehow my message reaches to the project administrators. Hope this helps. You can keep following up with them until any of their administrators reply you with an acknowledgement.

Hack that's a LONG list. I wounder how much hours you had spent investigating all these ALTs. I like the variations LOL

While your 2nd concern is valid but someone who really wants to do something with BitcoinTalk they will enable their JS. I strongly suggest your internet connection to check to avoid the time issue. I never faced that sorts of issue even. Usually it takes one or two attempts that's it.

oopsy daisy! It's butthurting yeah? Seems like you have some shits to sort out now. No wonder you are not stalking me anymore (possibly). It's been a long day without you, my friend Since you're so good with sarcasm in most of your posts,I'll just assume this is another sarcastic post at it's best and move on. No doubt

I'd like to see a board for hardware wallets in general. It'd be nice to have all that in one place.
Hardware wallet in general is a good idea instead of any specific brand name. I saw a lot of confusions about the appropriate board of this topic LOL I am pretty sure this meta section is the best place since it's about a forum section.

@InvoKing: Seems like you have done some research about this Japanese board. I assume your numbers are correct. I have noticed more merit abusing on the local boards than the regular boards, it's the feeling I get. I have investigated 16 merit abusing cases where I found over 60+ abusers and red tagged those users so I guess my feeling is based on experience. It contains some weight, not just a feeling I got out of the thin air. I am still awaiting for Anon11073 to see his statement against this acquisition. My suggestion: "Bounty manager (Staff!) embezzling $4000".
I do think the same like you. May be the title needs a bit of tweaks.

I just saw that merit sources were reduced from 80 to 79 (I thought that might be he was removed).
As per my knowledge it's not him, it's another member who was removed. I do not want to mention his username for some reason. This should be in scam accusations, not meta. That being said, I'd definitely go ahead and contact whoever he is running the campaign for, I'm sure they would like to know.
I was also having a thought that this is not something for Meta board but I was not really sure about the appropriate board for this. Seems like scam accusations is the board for this topic. I hope OP move this to scam accusations board.

Congrats mate, finally you got the correct answer for OP. It was fun reading the answers especially when theymos acknowledged Oh, I guess you can. I didn't know that.
