2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] [NIG] Nigeria Coin - SHA256 POS+POW on: September 09, 2013, 09:57:11 PM
am i the only one who finds the coins suffix/3 letter identifier "NIG" to seem racist?

imagine two white nerds talking at a party "yo how many NIG's you got?"

Nigger Coin? Really?

Oh, grow up. That word hasn't had the same meaning it used to, in 200+ years.

with all due respect bro, shut the fuck up Tongue

I do not entirely understand why reading OP's title made me do this

haha, thats awesome.

when will it be launched?

tomorrow Smiley unfortunately increasing the starting difficulty didn't do much to stop asic instamine, so retarget's have been extended to a two week period. it merkled today finally. slight flaw in the math of the block rewards. fix it tomorrow morning and release tomorrow evening. shakezula has me under careful scrutiny so i shouldn't be able to fuck it up this time like i did with NAN. hows that for a vote of confidence lol. see you all tomorrow.

Take it from someone who is a formerly diagnosed with GAD(Generalized Anxiety Disorder),Somiphobia(The fear of dying in your sleep) Anxiety related dissociative convulsions(non epileptic seizures),  and is a former user of anxiety drugs such as Hydroxizine, alprazolam, clonazepam, Neurotin, Ativan, chlordiazepoxide, and last but not least, diazepam. You do not want to go down the road of treating your anxiety problems with drugs, as great as they are it comes at a cost, i will get to that later. I would like to tell you my story of how i got this way.

I was 15 years old, living in a quiet middle class residential area in rural arkansas. at the end of our subdivision was a movie store, called movie gallery. it was about 9 pm on a thursday and my mom sent me off to return some movies to the video store. there was a little shortcut behind the strip mall where the video store where the neighborhood kids would ride there bikes through up to the back area behind the strip mall where we would skateboard hang out and ride bikes etc. in between the houses and this strip mall was a small drainage creek leading into the sewer, and a little ramp was fashioned out of ply wood and bricks and we would jump this little "creek" to the back parking lot of the strip mall. i hit the ramp with the movie in one hand and my hand on the other. when i landed, i lost control and face planted and the handle bars hit me right in the ribs, and unknown to me at the time my ribs were broken and my lung was punctured from the backside. i woke up in the hospital the next day and after a few weeks they sent me home. all good. a few weeks later at school i couldn't breath and passed out at school. turns out i had developed an infection in my lung(pneumonia, or so they thought) and needed antibiotics. i was prescribed cefuroxime and never got better. our family doctor advised us to visit a lung specialist, who referred us to his friend who although an ENT(Ear, Nose, Throat Doctor) he specialized in lower respiritory infections. this doctor prescribed me a last resort antibiotic, flouroqolinone and this is where my nightmare began. just a day or two after starting the antibiotic, i began having convulsions and nightmares, and became extremely paranoid. by day 12 of treatment i was no longer able to leave the bed, i was paralyzed in fear. no one believes me, but my heart stopped beating in the middle of the night. i woke up for a breif second and attempted to scream for help but i couldn't make a sound and i tried to beat on the wall but i couldn't move my hands, i started panicking and strained to pick myself up off the bed and somehow my heart started making this twisting motion and my body was shaking and i snapped out of it. no one ever believed me, however i was unable to sleep so the doctor diagnosed me with somniphobia, the fear of sleeping. being a minor i was prescribed hydroxizine. drug after drug they tried on me. eventually they got me on a doze of diazepam in the day for convulsions, and alprazolam at night so i could sleep. this worked great for about 6 weeks and the doctor let me know that it was time for my medications to be pulled. he pulled me off diazepam and halfed my dosage of xanax to .5 mg twice daily and slowly tapered me off. i can't tell you how bad my life was for an entire year after quitting the meds. my life was literally hell. i couldn't even walk into a store or anything without shaking in fear.

 I still get convulsions when i'm nervous and i still have the heart palpitations and fear that i will laydown and go to sleep and never wake up, but the doctor got me off of the medicine and into a councelor who was able to coach me through facing my fears, and i am much better off, anxiety be damned than i ever was before.

if you continue to let the fear rule over you and reduce yourself to a life of xanax or other anxiety medication use you will live your life standing still, and i doubt you really want that.

What to DOOOOOO  Huh

Do Goldcoin (GLD) of course!

Beware before investing into GLD
They recently lowered the money income by around 10: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=263459.msg2814633#msg2814633

Beware ! Thanks for the link  Wink

Why would you beware of us fixing the code?

The original design of the coin was to produce 100 million coins. After assuming development responsibilities, we found a bug in the code that was causing "unlimited coin generation" and lowered the block reward to return the coin to it's original total coin output.

We didn't think the World wanted (or needed) another infinite coin.

That's not the point
What worries people is that new comers will earn 10 times less GLD with the same hashpower
It also means that early adopters are fucking loaded

That's not bad nor good, it's just something people need to know before investing in GLD

the early comers aren't all loaded. most of us have cashed out and moved on to greener pastures( i had well over 100k GLD at one point ). only a few stuck around, like Microguy and Dayne, providing buy support and revamping the coin. I think hyoshi and Bitshire Hashaway have also been instrumental in this effort.  i for one commend them on their efforts to resurrect GLD whose original developer took the entire GLD community for a ride, pumping and dumping repeatedly on the heads of his loyal followers before leaving everyone with the bag finally. MG and Friends have invested so much in GLD, they deserve whatever profit they make in the long run. Yes they have tons of the coins, but its pretty clear they were in it for the long run. MG could have sold his coins for 10x what he paid for them at this point, and hasn't done so yet. they really believe in this coin and aren't in it for pumping and dumping.

2769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: September 08, 2013, 09:01:33 PM
I can't stop loving this thread

That thrills me as if...

Anyway,  doubled my money on ADT while sleeping.  It's at 100 now and it hit 140 this morning.  I didn't sell though.

But for sure, trading currencies on Cryptsy is the way to make money.  Mining is slowly becoming archaic and difficult.  I would still mine if I knew how (lol) but I made 35 LTC in 10 hours trading just 1 coin with less than 1BTC.  I'd need like 10 good rigs to mine that much.

IT's hard to beat trading and right now its hard to Lose money as many new people enter the market daily.

its nothing compared to what it was in the early days of cryptsy. there were so many noobs in the market, i made 1-2 btc a day pumping. back then you could place 50 sell orders, announce a pump in the trollbox and a million gullible traders would immediately buy up your sell orders in anticipation of the pump. now you have to have a bot or be able to wait patiently for the right time to sale, people aren't nearly as gullible as they were back then.

we should have referral links for our sig ads. i for one have referred 20 plus people, not sure if they have tried the site, but i've been talking about it in other mediums. to my knowledge, you are the first person to introduce "shorting" (short positions) to the bitcoin trading platform.

Is anyone still alive on this thread?

Half alive?

Go Vlad! Go!

Lol. I haven't had time for this thread lately, I've been on Cryptsy quite a bit.  I've been accumulating a lot of variously different coins.  I'll tell ya, Cryptsy has a really impressive UI and they're cultivating a really great culture over there and fun open atmosphere.

Absolutely nothing what I expected to find on an exchange.

Any official Statement? When is the Problem fixed so
 NAN is on Cryptsy again?

mudda fudda announced he was taking over the coin last i heard. he helped with the project and did most of the coding anyway. he staged a community takeover of the coin and as far as i know they are back to the drawing board and building the coin again from scratch but with the same parameters and genesis block. perhaps he can comment on that when he has the time, i know he is located in Australia somewhere so its probably like 4 am where he's at.

2775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CGMiner vs BFGMiner on: September 06, 2013, 06:38:35 PM
first of all why are you using shortcuts with cgminer at all? thats lazy as shit and the wrong way to use it. follow these instructions i outlined in another thread instead.

BFGMiner is for tools. Use cgminer instead, version 3.3.1 or higher. its a very simple process

1. plug usb and install silabs driver http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx

2. unplug and replug usb.

3. download zadig http://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/files/zadig/zadig_v2.0.1.160.7z/download

4. open zadig > click "list all devices" > select cpx210 to uart controller from drop down menu > click replace driver > wait til it installs then close zadig.

5. open and run cgminer-nogpu.exe >input pool url, username and password. > after it loads and says USB FAILED to initialize hit "S" to bring up the settings menu. > Press "W" to write your info to a config file. > exit cgminer

6. unplug block erupter(careful it may be hot) > restart computer > replug block erupter. > restart cgminer-nogpu.exe and presto you're mining.

 if it still says failed to initialize after you've done these steps do this:

1. open zadig > click list all devices > select cpx210 to uart controller > click reinstall driver > wait til it installs then exit zadig.

2. unplug Block Erupter. > replug block erupter.

3. restart cgminer-nogpu.exe

if you want to setup the config file prior to using cgminer like this, here is my config file which is what should be used for block erupters to reach the desired error rate of < .9%

DO NOT EDIT ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR POOL URL, USER,AND PASSWORD or cgminer  will get a JSON error and probably crash. if you are using gpu's with this, feel safe in knowing you can run cgminer-nogpu.exe for your block erupters and regular cgminer for your gpu's. just be sure to start cgminernogpu.exe first so that cgminer wont try to initialize your block erupters, instead just your gpu's. this way you can start cgminer with your bat file for your gpus and you can start nogpu for your block erupters.

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "somepool.net:3333",
"user" : "someworkername",
"pass" : "somepassword"
},

]
,
"api-port" : "4028",
"expiry" : "120",
"hotplug" : "5",
"log" : "5",
"no-pool-disable" : true,
"queue" : "1",
"scan-time" : "60",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"
}
