2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 24, 2014, 12:36:30 AM
I think some patience is necessary here. Let them finish Rev. 3, publish the whitepaper, and offer a big bounty for anyone who can break the anonymity of XCurrency. Those things will put us in the spotlight and get us all the attention we ever wanted. Days can seem like weeks in this fast paced crypto jungle but let's remember all our strengths and be content.

The thing is that support now matters.  Look at DRK.  Supposedly, we are all here because we think we have a better technology than DRK does, correct?  Yet DRK has a far higher market cap, far higher user base, etc.  They have that because they built support early.

Every day XC waits to build additional support is another day some other community gets to take that support and hold on to it. CLOAK is another instructive example.  If everyone thinking about CLOAK knew XC already had solved anonymity, they would be far less interested in CLOAK.  Instead, those investors do not believe XC has solved anonymity and are attracted to CLOAK as a solution.  So they become attached to CLOAK, and are less likely to support XC in the future.  This is not a good thing because (to the earlier point about Betamax and bluray) at some point the ship really does sail and all the proof in the world that your tech is 10% better won't matter because it won't be enough to overcome the disparity in community size.  Lots of coins have better tech than BTC, but Expedia doesn't use them as a payment solution because they can't compete with the early support BTC got...

So if we have the best anon lets start proving it rather than waiting around and assuming that will just work out fine.  XC would benefit by improving its messaging.

What are you suggesting we do?

Would you read my prior posts before replying?

It's uncommonly known that the XC team has a plan. :-)

2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 23, 2014, 07:08:28 PM
Im a little off put here.  We had Mindfox review our code as he is a somewhat respected member of the BTCtalk community.

Now he has his own shit clone which is presenting falsified information about the source we recently opened up.  He is claiming he has bettered our rev1 technology... not by actually doing anything with it but by lying and stating there were all sorts of issues that he and his PnD shit team have fixed. And now how they are moving ahead of our progression.

So why again are we opening source?  I get all the high and mighty fucktards on reptiliea or w/e's thread stating they wont look twice at a coin that isnt open sourced fully but who gives a crap.

Those condescending "Coin analysts" will eventually see the light if they can get each others knob ends out of each others mouths long enough to say something constructive not talk about how much of a crypto hipster they are.

Just hold strong fellow XC'ers  don't let the crypto hipsters get to you!

I did not know that Mindfox copied the XC code from Rev1.  Supposedly he's a great programmer, so instead of stealing the code from XC, why not just create it yourself.

I hate to say it, but I hope there was something malicious/not working in the open source code that was released.  Boy.....wouldn't that be a lesson to learn for those copy-fucks.

I wouldn't even bother making any future revs available for open source.  Let this all be a lesson.

You don't trust closed-source?  Fuck off, and invest elsewhere.

The fact is that this KeyCoin thing is free PR for XC.

And it's good PR because nothing spreads like contention. (In fact, it's my favourite sort of game.)

This is exactly what releasing code on a delayed timeline is good for: showing up stupid coins, helping XC rise to prominence, and providing valuable tech to real devs who want to study it and do some real work.

So all's well. Nothing to worry about. :-)

***The XC Daily Update***

Hi all

This is what the team is up to today:

- Dan is coding (as you might imagine)

- Teka is working on the forthcoming XC app UI

- We're gonna upload the new OP today!

Hi synechist Do you know what the Other Guys that are on the team are doing at the moment? can you share with us? For example the PR guy from adidas and the other DEVS. Thank you

Rob has a full-time job (I talk with him daily on skype), this is a side project that he is currently invested in, and has offered his expertise to help. I expect he will become more useful during the PR campaign

Rob and I work on strategy for campaigns, he copy-edits my writing, writes things himself, comes up with ideas, etc.

I'll definitely include him - and other team members' work - frequently.

The idea is not to try to tell you everything that's happening, because that's not really feasible. We just want to keep you all in the loop, generally.

that williams idiot is really trying hard to make XC investors feel dumb and divert money elsewhere. What a fucktard. I love it how people are always reposting the same shit that has been talked several times over again and has been worked out/resolved long ago. We have a great coin on our hands here, its just amusing that people are constantly trying to spread 2 month old FUD about it because there is nothing bad to say at the moment.

I would downvote him, but I cant even be bothered to make an account to log in. He's a full blown cloaktard, its sad that he doesnt even realize we already have the tech of cloak...

Speaking of this, how's that deFUD archive coming along folks?

That'll make short work of people like Williams in a combox.

"people rationally head on over to the exchanges and buy XC instead."

...yes I can see on Mintpal...they will be simply crazy about XC

Ok I know you're not happy with the way we've done announcements, and you think that this is (partly) why the price is where it is.

You might even be right, for all anyone knows.

But can you not be reactionary about this? It's a solid PR strategy and it simply doesn't matter what people do today, or tomorrow, or whenever they buy/don't buy.

It's about a narrative. It's about how the world comes to know about XC as the industry leading project. And this aspect of things is going very well, really.
2767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 23, 2014, 03:58:19 PM

I have emailed the site's editor and commented on it publicly this morning.

Let's wait and see what they do.

And, to reiterate how this will go:

- some dumb coin copies XC's old tech and gets an article published about it

- we kindly inform the coin's followers that their dev is several steps behind XC and has implemented last-gen technology

- people rationally head on over to the exchanges and buy XC instead.

It's too easy. This is free publicity for XC. It implies, for all to see, that we're the industry leader.

It would be 100x easier if we had a whitepaper to point them to.

I couldn't agree more. A white paper is on the Rev 3 to-do list.

Not until REV3?  There should be whitepapers for each major revision.  REV2 --> and then REV3 to explain how it ADDS to the privacy that REV2 offered.

New "anon" coins are added weekly to the markets.  People cannot tell one solution from the other anymore.

This is the last I'll post about it, but as far as I'm concerned, Dan needs to stop whatever coding is he is doing, and spend however long it takes to publish a well documented whitepaper explaining XC's current tech.

As battbot will stay quiet on this from now on I just bump this to the current page.  He is right imo,  with a team of 11 profs a WP should not be big problem.

In that case I'll re-contribute my information on this:

A white paper will come out when the core code is completed and we can actually talk about it without spilling a pile of very valuable ideas.

For now, the new OP is going to clarify things quite satisfactorily until a white paper comes out.

XC does not operate like short-term coins; it simply makes no sense to either (a) put out a partial and insubstantial white paper, or (b) publish the whole design before the launch.

I had coins in my X11 wallet, but when i download the new wallet (XCurrency) I don't see my coins, can someone please help?

EDIT:

I can't even send out coins to an exchange?

Your old wallet is in /appdata/x11coin

Copy it to /appdata/XCurrency

Sorted.

And of course you can send to an exchange.

Good news!  So glad the Devs are making good on their promises.

Will I have to repeat myself here?

Please read my post above. This is not a truthful article.

Did anyone tell about the MultiGateWay of Nxt ?

http://bitcoinist.net/multigateway-new-decentralized-exchange/
http://multigateway.com/
http://multigateway.com/user-guide/installing-the-software/
https://nxtforum.org/multigateway-jl777/
https://nxtforum.org/umgwc/
https://nxtforum.org/umgwc/umgw-ui-release-v1-3e/

It's working, I am using it.
Basically you can trade Nxt for Bitcoin or Litecoin, soon Darkcoin (I know fuck that coin) and more crypto soon.

It is a decentralized exchange that you use from the Nxt client.
All transactions are based on the Nxt blockchain. No cheat, no theft, no scam, ...

Isn't it what cryptocurrencies always needed ?

That decentralised exchange appears to use three servers to store coins.

In other words, it's not decentralised.

I don't get it.

I think I Agree on this we need detailed Explanation From Dan On How REV2-2.5 Improve the anonimity of XC and makes it the market leader at the moment so that we can give people a quick source where they can get Informed and make their best decision to invest in. I mean fuking Bitcoindark is ahead of us in price at the moment we should have smashed DARKCOIN Records already after REV 2 for fuck sake.

Let's all remember that XC is only a few weeks old. Sometimes our pace of development obscures this fact.

We'll have a white paper. It'll come out when the core code is completed and we can actually talk about it without spilling a pile of very valuable ideas.

For now, the new OP is going to clarify things quite satisfactorily until a white paper comes out.

2774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] PoS/Privacy on: July 23, 2014, 02:06:44 PM

I told synechist that is a stupid move but nobody is paying attention to my words

Meh, its the previous version.  Now open sourcing the current version (which still is not getting as much praise and attention as it should) would be stupid IMO.

LOL....copycat shitcoins are ruthless.  I'm glad the devs aren't releasing the new technology for this exact reason.  This was a good science experiment.

Yeah, we don't release new code. Here's our statement on open source:

XC is committed to the open source model. Open source code is vital for the health and advancement of cryptographic technologies, and it is a privilege to share our technical breakthroughs with a community such as this. We believe that XC's code embodies several world-firsts enabling anonymity that is scalable, mobile-friendly, POS-integrated, and is ultimately a platform upon which a broad range of Blockchain 2.0 technologies will be built. However we have been under severe attack from competing projects. Furthermore people’s faith in altcoins is significantly hindered by clones. Therefore we believe that the ethical way to engage with the community is to make code available on a delayed timeline. This way, the community will still benefit from our work, while we'd reduce the incentive for developers to flood the marketplace with clones that lack a long term future and reduce the trustworthiness of the altcoin phenomenon. XC represents several market-leading innovations, and we are honoured to make these available to the community in the near future.

Pertaining to that article:

XCurrency made its *old* Rev 1 trusted mixer tech open source two days ago.

Anyone copying this is several steps behind XC. XC's current technology (Rev 2.45) has trustless mixing, a world first.

Lastly, testing of the Rev 1 mixer was shown to leave no link on the blockchain between sender and receiver, so this article is factually incorrect on that point.

So "KeyCoin" is a last-gen copycat of XCurrency, which is currently the industry-leading cryptographic privacy technology.

http://xc-official.com

Things which do not help your coin as a dev:

1-  Attacking other coins

Stick with your own coin, you'll be better off, trust me.

I'm surprised that you consider my post an attack. It's a clarification of the facts.

XC releases code on a delayed timeline in good faith and as an expression of our belief in the open source model.

For an article to come out that is not clear on the facts - facts that XC published only two days ago - and attempts to make it look as if KeyCoin has one-upped XC, is deceitful.

I'm not attacking, I'm clarifying.

I'd appreciate it if your PR is more truthful in future. Why use XC's act of good faith to distort the truth about the code KeyCoin is using?
