2761  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070/1070ti retirement on: June 19, 2022, 08:56:59 PM
After 5 years of stirling service and a lot of modifications I'm retiring my rig of 8 x 1070's.  My remaining 2 rigs, each with 8 x 1070ti's are running at around break even so will keep them spinning a few more months, at least until the Australian winter is over.

The question now is what to do with them?  The 1070's are old cards now and I can't imagine there is much of a market for them especially considering their mining history.  (Though one could argue they are thoroughly tested!).  I doubt it would be worth the hassle of listing them on ebay.  But I can't yet bring myself to throw away perfectly good cards.  So I will probably store them for 10 years and then throw them away!

What do you do with old mining cards that are no longer profitable and unlikely to ever be profitable again?
If you store these graphics cards for 5 years, then it's tantamount to throwing them away.
When mining becomes unprofitable, be sure to sell these video cards to buy cryptocurrency. When the price of the cryptocurrency rises, you will buy new cards. And if the price of cryptocurrency does not rise, then you still wanted to throw away video cards.
If you store them longer they might be worth something more lol! Some Original IBM PC XT computers are now selling for thousands of dollars. How many of those are there left?
How much are you willing to buy NVIDIA RIVA TNT?
You can even play Quake or tetris on it.
For rendering, such video cards may be weak, it may be used for password guessing or games that are not demanding on graphics.
2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stupid or smartness on: June 18, 2022, 03:13:07 PM
If you have free electricity, then I would not sell a video card either
Video card values have declined much faster than the profit they make at free power. Capital loss is the real risk here, not operating loss. That is why I have sold half my rigs in the hopes of buying them back cheaper later on.
But a graphics card can't be worth $0 like a cryptocurrency. Even the RX 580 8 GB graphics card can play many modern games and its price will not fall below $100 if it is in good condition. Even if it is cheaper, then what price will the RX 550 2GB have? RX 560 4gb? RX 570 4gb?
2763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Death of Etheruem mining - Predicitions on: June 18, 2022, 02:56:16 PM
ETH bellow $1000 today...

Waiting for the difficulty of it,the Ethereum network to adjust to it,or said in other words, seeing a lot of people shutting down their operation while the others who will continue to mine at a loss maybe, will keep collecting more and more of the coin they receive the payout from mining. So far it is not materializing but I think it will do in the next couple of days.Difficulty still well above that 13.5 P but I am sure we will see that below 12 or even further below that which will make the people who continue mining getting generous mining rewards daily.

That is my comment for Eth below 1000 Grin.
When to buy Ethereum?
I do not think that miners will immediately turn off their mining farms, because there are 3-4 months left until the end of mining. For example, I will wait for this event and I will mine, maybe it will be delayed until next year.

Or maybe the fall in the price of ethereum before the merge will be a good opportunity for investors to buy ethereum from miners and holders, because then it will be much less on the POS algorithm.Lido Staked Ether STETH is cheaper than Ethereum, and after the merger, 1 STETH will be exchanged for 1 ETH.
2766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to sell GPu to PC gamers can made me lie on: June 17, 2022, 07:24:11 PM
Why did gamers always think they know the best?  Cheesy once they knew you use your GPU for mining they won't buy from you, well today I had to lie 🤥 to sell some GPU, I pretend like I've never heard about mining, I even tell him to teach me and he said... Don't do it, this will kill your GPU fast, and I was like on  Shocked I don't know, hehe

If you want to sell your GPU its better not to tell anyone that you use them for mining unless they are miners.
What video cards did you sell?
I usually sell old graphics cards that are already 4-5 years old. I change the thermal pads if necessary, change the thermal paste, take a photo, then do a video card test for about 30 minutes. I take photos and videos.
At the expense of mining, I answer that during this time everything is possible, because sometimes I am not the first owner. Here are the tests and a guarantee for a return within a few days if there are problems.
2767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stupid or smartness on: June 17, 2022, 07:13:36 PM
...

You're half right for GPU miners right that they weren't in the bear market for mining yet. But this is only for miners with high-end GPUs. The bottom one with low-end, outdated GPU like RX 580, they're really in the danger spot now since their GPU has very low efficiency. If ETH price drop lower, sure the high-end GPUs or ones with high efficiency can still weather out, but the low efficiency will be out of the mining game right away unless you got free electricity. OP's 1660s ain't have a good efficiency rate so him selling some of his cards and diversifying it to alts or fiat is still a smart move to me. Why take a risk, right?
Miners with RX 580 video cards and analogues are attaboys, because they have been mining Ethereum for a long time and paid for these video cards many times over. I have these graphics cards and I don't feel in danger. Even many miners will continue to mine at a loss for a while after ethereum mining ends because they had a good profit.
2768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you coping with Gddr6x rigs on: June 17, 2022, 06:34:47 PM
Is anyone using RTX 3070 Ti or any graphic cards with gddr6x memory in a closed case mining rig or gaming case? How are you coping in this heating season? My 3070Ti in a closed case goes up as 90°C on memory temp while mining or gaming but if I open the case it goes down to 84°C, anyway to make things better?.
In a closed case, the temperature of the video card should be lower, but the memory temperature of 84-90 degrees is not bad for the summer.
The gaming case is useless for mining, because there are weak fans and it is not designed for a large number of video cards. If you have one graphics card, remove 1 panel from your PC case.
You are right, most gaming cases comes with those simple RGB fans with colors and they don't get rid of heats in the case, lol 😆  I knew this because a friend has a gaming PC that gives him problem until we get rid of the case for a more bigger case with enough spaces that good fans can be installed.
It is very important where the PC case is located, the ventilation in the room and what video cards are installed there.
A cheap gaming case works like a vacuum cleaner, and if there are no filters in it, then all the dust accumulates in the PC case. Until we know the case model, we can't help.
2769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stupid or smartness on: June 17, 2022, 06:15:44 PM
I am still holding on pretty well, a 30 MH still do 0.50$ per day and I am not one of those paying high feed for electricity so I will keep mining still, I have no gpu to sell anymore as my plan is to hold those GPUs for a better season in future, doing this I already feel like I have all the good coins I need to have.
To be more precise, the profit is approximately 41 cents. If you have free electricity, then I would not sell a video card either. You can even buy video cards at cheap prices to get the most out of your very cheap electricity.
2770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Dual Mining ? on: June 16, 2022, 01:57:25 PM
ETH and ALPH combination will give your graphic cards some ease, don't do ETH with Ravencoin you are simply going to put too much stress on the graphic cards and in this hot season you aren't helping the graphic cards at all.
ETH and ALPH are a bit colder, but also bad for summer.
2771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Tell me your plan on: June 16, 2022, 01:55:19 PM
What PoW altcoins you think will survive this bear market and stand strong in 2024 when bear market is getting over with? And which altcoins would you rather mine and hold for 2024 and 2025?
The best plan is to mine ethereum or other profitable coins while you still have the opportunity. If you have read this article, then understand that it is very difficult to make plans after the end of Ethereum mining.
https://bitproit.com/gpu-mining-profitability-after-ethereum-merge/

Though there is some partial truth's in that link from Bitpro.. They've neglected to input a lot of data and when at the end they offer to buy your mining rigs it's pretty laughable or am I missing something?

ETH's network is AT LEAST 50% ASIC's, probably nearer 70% yet he didn't take this into account.

There are also several (GPU minable) coins that are not on his list.
Where did you get the data about ASICs?
Hive OS pool statistics are available to all users and you can see that a lot of old video cards are mining Ethereum.
https://hiveon.com/statistics/
Radeon RX 580 8GB+Radeon RX 570 8GB this is almost 42% of all video cards.

I just sold four pieces of my 1660s graphic cards that I bought in January of 2022 at 280$ and I originally bought this cards for 350$, is this a good selling point for these cards? Haha I did this because I want me some polka-dot and avalanche for a long term hold, this is just 2% of my entire mining farm.

Since it is just 2% of your entire mining farm it is not stupid but either smartness,it is just normal I would say.If you can manage to sell cards at almost the same price you have bought then I would go ahead and sell them, there is the AMD new series on the edge together with the Rtx 4000 series and when these hit the markets we would see a huge supply of older video cards for sale,I think it is then time to stock up on them a bigger number than you already have now.

I know,it is a risky move but can bring huge profit but also huge risk,up to you what to do.
Remember the story with AMD 5000 series graphics cards. The developers of the miners had to spend several months for the hashrate of these video cards to become high. This situation can be with new AMD video cards. So I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy. A huge sale will begin after the completion of Ethereum mining. It is even more profitable to sell video cards now in order to buy the same or better at a lower price in 4 months.
2774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to downsize mining operation via ebay and others on: June 16, 2022, 01:37:14 PM
Long time lurker. With the massive downturn in price, I'm looking to move some ASICs and GPUs online. Got an offer in my email from ebay offering 50% off fees for selling GPUs above $500. Does anyone here have experience selling GPUs on ebay who could get some advice? Best practices to protect myself?
Ebay has very low prices and high competition. It's too late to sell video cards now. Better mine ethereum while you can and don't sell below $4,000. Or try to sell in your country, because it might be more profitable.
2775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: It is now that is decided who is going to win and who is not (mining) on: June 16, 2022, 01:33:41 PM

I only use 2miners pool as this pool offers me the possibility to pay me directly in Bitcoin. At first during the morning/noon time of the day I was not seeing any change either but it has been at least 5 hours that now I am seeing a better performance,I don't know but the only thing that I think of is the fall of difficulty.Strange things also happened here at this pool as one guy hit a block by solo mining with just 60 Mhsh so I don't know how to explain it either except with the fall of difficulty.I see now also the difficulty up at 14.68 P but the performance strangely remains the same,I don't know how to explain it differently. It still shows 0.005 Eth last 24 hours reward.

Thanks
I've never used 2miners pool, I'll take a look
I once used nicehash to have my ETH converted to BTC, but I don't like nicehash anymore after that fight with Phoenix miner

Maybe it's a good time to mine ETH and accumulate BTC, here in Ethermine I'm mining with 326 Mhs but only getting 0.00410 ETH daily
I don't think that Nicehash was the only mining platform that get rid of Phoenix miner, it seems that Nicehash was right about Phoenix miner after all, look around you today how many mining fans are talking about Phoenix miner? None I guess so it seems Phoenix miner isn't pure.
Phoenix miner is a very good mining software, I and I don't think that the developers did anything forbidden. There were a lot of phishing sites and inexperienced miners downloaded software with viruses. Phoenix miner had a drawback that this miner overestimated the real hashrate very little.
2776  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Dual Mining ? on: June 15, 2022, 08:23:00 AM
Choose a mining mode that does not overheat your video cards, because in the summer there is a big load on the cooling system of video cards.
To calculate ETH Dual Mining, see the calculator at  https://whattomine.com/    press ETH+
2777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stupid or smartness on: June 15, 2022, 08:19:27 AM
If now your video card gives 30 cents of profit per day, then you have made a very good deal. I can suggest that you spend part of the profit, because you can invest poorly and lose money, as I did in 2018.

I know that EPYC and Threadripper CPUs are the best for CPU mining and I am able to have a threadripper CPU with 16cores, can I use this to mine some Ethereum in this bear market or it's not worth it? I have free electricity but my aim is mining difficulty.
Check your profit in the Raptoreum calculator. If you are satisfied with such a profit, then continue mining. You can sell the processor and buy a video card, but in the last month the profit in GPU mining has also dropped a lot.

Slight direction change on question,
How much faster do you think NiceHash is over CryptoTab  ??
( yes i am serious )

What serious miner will mine in the browser. This project has a 10-level referral system, it looks more like a pyramid scheme than proper mining
https://cryptobrowser.site/en/faq/#how-much-earn-referral-levels
It’s better to study hive OS and competitors if you want to professionally engage in mining.
